    Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Z6 Pro in its home country back in the month of April. The device is the successor to the Z5 Pro GT launched last year and features notable improvements over its predecessor in terms of design and performance. While it was expected that Lenovo may introduce the handset in the Indian market soon, no announcement regarding it was made from the company. Now, the latest leak reveals that the Z6 Pro may be launched in India soon, as it has gained the mandatory BIS certification in the country.

    About The Certification

    The Bureau of India Standards (BIS) has certified the Lenovo Z6 Pro with the model number L78051. BIS is a national standard body of India which is responsible for providing certification to certain products. It is often seen as a means for providing a third-party guarantee of quality and reliability of the products. While the BIS certification is voluntary in nature, the government of India has made it mandatory for certain products citing public health hazards.

    The Lenovo Z6 Pro is the company’s first flagship smartphone of the year. It has a glass design on the front and back with an attractive gradient rear panel. For biometrics and security, the Z6 Pro has the sixth generation optical in-display fingerprint scanner and support for face unlock.

In terms of optics, the device has a quad rear camera setup comprising of an f/1.8 aperture equipped 48 MP sensor; combined with an f/1.9 aperture equipped 16 MP ultra-wide sensor; an f/2.4 aperture equipped 8 MP telephoto sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. For selfies, a 32 MP selfie camera is housed in the waterdrop notch on top of the display. The Z6 Pro may be available in the following storage variants when launched in India.

It runs on the company’s current ZUI 11 on top of latest Android 9 Pie and supports Dolby audio to ensure better sound output from the smartphone. The device is available in two colours, namely Red and Blue. In terms of pricing, it is expected that the Z6 Pro will be priced similar to its Chinese counterparts when launched in India. This suggests a starting price of Rs. 30,000 which may go up to around Rs. 50,000 for the top-end variant.

    The Lenovo Z6 Pro will be available in the Chinese market initially, with global availability expected to be announced soon. Pricing of the smartphone starts from CNY 2899 (Rs. 30,000) for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The version with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard memory has been priced at CNY 2999 (Rs. 31,100). For the variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, the pricing will be CNY 3799 (Rs. 39,400). The top end model, with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage, will cost CNY 4999 (Rs. 51,900).

In terms of biometrics and security, the device will have the sixth generation of an optical fingerprint scanner inside the display and will also support face unlock technology.

    The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Lenovo wants to keep the upcoming Z6 Pro in the shadows for now, but at the same time, the company is constantly teasing its features ahead of the upcoming launch at an event on April 23 in Beijing, China. Some extraordinary features have already been unveiled, such as the “Hyper Video” feature which may enable the user to shoot super smooth slow-motion videos at frame rates of 960fps. On April 11, the company posted some camera samples from the upcoming smartphone.

    The images are taken during the phase of dusk and the night, and they bear watermarks in Chinese, which when translated, reveal significant information regarding the Z6 Pro’s camera. The images exhibit detailed levels of colours and brightness. The faint layer of light on top of the images give them a natural look. As deduced from the overlaid watermarks, the camera has a pixel size of 2.9 ?m, indicating towards a camera with advanced night mode capabilities. Moreover, the second watermark exhibits an 80dB over-motion map, which hints towards the fact that the camera has a large photosensitive area.

    Expected Features And Specifications

    Previously, the company confirmed that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will feature the powerful 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset. Currently one of the fastest SoCs in the market, it comprises of an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 640 GPU. Even though detailed specifications of the device are not known as of now, the smartphone is expected to include a display with a high refresh rate (possibly 120 Hz). As reported previously, the device may launch as Lenovo’s gaming smartphone, so the handset is expected to feature a huge battery with support for fast charging. Moreover, the device may have the same 6.4 inch AMOLED display featured in the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT. The device may officially be launched in the month of April or May.
