Xiaomi Expected To Create Their Own Processors By 2016

Apple, Samsung, Huawei and other companies, already use processors that have been developed by their own company. Now, Xiaomi would also like to follow suit. As of now it uses either Qualcomm or MediaTek in its devices, apart from the Xiaomi Redmi 2A, however, reports suggest that it might be gearing up towards creating its own mobile processors and even launch it in 2016.

Reports also suggest that this new processor would only be used for the low-end Redmi series, and that the Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to sport a Qualcomm chipset. It is said that Xiaomi has recently hired Qualcomm China Head Wang Xiang, although the company itself has not confirmed anything officially.

Currently, Xiaomi is scheduled to host an event on the 13th of August 2015, where the company will unveil the MIUI 7, and is expected to reveal the Xiaomi Mi 5 as well. The event is to take place at the China National Convention Centre.
