Considered one of Windows best versions, this was released in October 2001. It was based on Windows NT and the start menu and task bar got a makeover. The green Start Button, blue task bar, vista wallpaper and other visual effects and variations were brought in. This installation was Microsoft’s longest running operating system that saw three major updates until 2014.
