PMP era is over. Apple revolutionized and mobilized PMP in late Nineties and then many other joined the party. That was well before Smartphones came. With the advent of Smartphones PMP has got a major setback. Now all smartphones have got in built music player that comes at quite affordable rates. Couple it with some good headphone and you are good to go. Very few people would like to spend 8-10k on a PMP.
