Rumor : HTC to unveil a buttonless Phone soon / Tablet perhaps

HTC sync just got an update recently and in it was a placeholder for a new unnamed device with Verizon branding. Identical in looks to the very known HTC Desire HD, Speaker grille and all. The device lacks and physical and or capacitive buttons in the front. But, as noted this could be just an empty image as a placeholder for a yet to be released device. Interestingly Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) does away with the need for any buttons, could this be a placeholder for an upcoming Tablet from HTC?

  • Steve Jobs takes leave of absence for Medical reasons – Assigns Tim to take over.

Steve Jobs takes leave of absence for Medical reasons – Assigns Tim to take over.

This may not be technology news, But, he is our favorite CEO. This time around a memo from Steve states that he will be taking leave of absence to “focus on his health”. read the full memo below.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today sent the following email to all Apple employees:

    Team,

At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.

    Steve

It’s unclear whether this leave of absence is related to his 2009 liver transplant or his earlier battles with pancreatic cancer. Here is hoping that he is fit and well soon enough , else the new iPad 2 launch may not be as exciting as we would want it to be.

  • Want Blackberry messenger on your iPhone or Android – RIM just might allow it!

Want Blackberry messenger on your iPhone or Android – RIM just might allow it!

Looks like Research in Motion, the big company behind Blackberry the device that has revolutionized the youth market of India and many developing countries, Along with the more serious corporations and business segment, realizes that the market for blackberry services can be expanded an that might just be very true. They are talking about offering BB services cross platform, in an attempt to monetize the iPhone and Android market in their favor.

    RIM SAYS:

BlackBerry is and will continue to be dominant in most corporations, [but] it’s not going to be the only device given the fact that consumers have the choice to bring in their own devices and IT departments are often letting them in. So there’s a question there. Do those corporations have to manage those devices differently or is there the possibility that RIM might extend capabilities to make it easier for those corporations to manage those devices as well? … If the right thing to do is to extend a subset of those [BlackBerry] capabilities to be able to manage other devices, it’s worthy of a conversation

While it still may be just talks for the time being, we wont be surprised if we see Mr Lazaridus with Steve at the iPhone Update this year, bbm on iPhone- whoopitiy woo.

Nokia official X7-00 pictures leak out

Looks like the X7 is just about ready to be announced, with pictures and specs leaking all over the Internet.

Nokia X7-00 powered with Symbian^3 operating system is a touchscreen device – probably same size as in the Nokia N8. It’s safe to assume that the touchscreen might come built with the ClearBack technology and support nHD pixel resolution. However in terms of imaging, the X7-00 would be a bit step down against the N8. Nokia has packed 8-megapixel camera in X7-00 with dual-LED flash.

Shell of the phone is a unibody design and the front panel has four speakers at four corners. There’s a dedicated camera key on the right bottom of the phone and above it is the volume rocker. The 3.5mm audio port along with a charging and syncing micro usb and what appears to be a power on off and lock-unlock button.

Update : apologies for the typo  this is the X7

Stay tuned for more on this.

  • How to : fix the Windows Phone 7 Activation Required Screen

How to : fix the Windows Phone 7 Activation Required Screen

Okay so you got your new Windows Phone 7 Device, You must be real excited to get the device online access the market place and download cool apps for your Phone. But, as soon as you try to login with your LIVE account the device says , Activation failed :

    Activation Required
An activation code is required before we can finish setting up your phone. Please contact customer service. You can skip this step and do it later.

Here is how you fix it, Well it worked for us anyway.

    Step 1

Since most customer support networks are horribly backed in INDIA, Microsoft India had no clue whatsoever about activation of Windows Phone 7.

So we placed a call to Microsoft UK

    The Number is +44 08448002400

    Step 2

Make sure you placed a call during business hours – 9AM – 7PM (GMT)

Choose option 2 and then option 7

    Step 3

Tell the support executive that you need to activate a windows phone 7 device to a live account and politely ask him to generate a code for you. Tell him/her that the device was bought in the UK.

Give your details and wait for him to generate the code.

Once he gives you the code make sure to write it down properly (all in CAPS)

    Step 4

Enter the code and enjoy the Live experience.

If the code does not work call back and request a new one.

We tried calling MS USA prior to UK, but, their menus seemed much more complex and we couldn’t get through to the right department.

  • iOS 4.3 code reveals new iPhone and iPad models, No Home Button!

iOS 4.3 code reveals new iPhone and iPad models, No Home Button!

Looks like folks have been poking at the new beta 4.3 for iOS, seeded to developers today and they seem to have found, As history has repeated itself, New versions of iPhone and iPad. Namely, two new-generation iPhones (4,1 and 4,2) and three iPads (2,1; 2,2; and 2,3).

Ask us and we say, it’s the GSM and CDMA variants of the next-gen models (plus a WiFi-only iPad).

BGR is claiming it’s heard from sources that the next iPhone / iPad models will eschew the physical home button altogether in lieu of the new multi-finger gestures and that employees at Cupertino are already testing such devices.

Ask us : we already hate the fact that the Desire HD does not have Physical buttons. But, an iPhone without a home button, imagine using five fingers to zoom out on the iPhone with only 3.5″ of screen-real estate, to close an app, that just seems ridiculous to us. We seriously hope that, Apple keeps the home button, But, it does need a new design.

    HTC HD7 Review + Video + Samples

Windows Phone 7 Was released Q4 2010, Htc was the most involved during Launch of Windows phone 7. Htc was also, the firt company to bring their WP7 phones to India.. The First WP7 device to hit India was the HD7. iGyaan was the First to report its availability and also the first to give an unboxing video and pictures. Today we are here as the first with a review of this device on Indian shores. So, lets begin :-

    Overview

Windows phone had predominantly dominated the smartphone (or supposed) market before the likes of Android and iOS. Windows Mobile OS was the easiest was to get around on your handheld touchscreen device using a stylus to navigate through the tiny start menus and buggy interfaces. Gone are those days, Microsoft, has upped the bar and competition has been tough on their noses. The Latest version of the Windows mobile platform the WINDOWS PHONE 7, does everything that the earlier variants couldn’t, a lot less of everything that they could, most importantly, it is as smooth and good looking as butter on a Hot Pan.

HTC began as a company of Windows Devices, manufacturing devices under third party names, until they decided to launch their own brand and come out strong. The company has grown because of Microsoft and the Windows platform. So, they were the first to offer support for a refreshed version of their favorite OS. The HD7 is the flagship for the company in the Windows Phone 7 Series. With Beautiful looks and an inside that makes a even android phones shame the device packs it all, but, does it?

    Build Quality

The Hd7 packs a stunning 4.3 inch 480×800 px front LCD. this screen along with a dark chrome metal bezel and invariably sexy looks make it one of the Hottest smart-phones in the market today. Overall a high strength construction along with premium use of glass and metals make it absolutely top notch. The flaws however are there and include, a very poorly designed back cover which leaves a lot to be desired and a lot of noise from the handset when, well its shaken.

Also, noticeably bothersome is the fact that all the buttons are flush with the phones bezel so they are not tactile and really difficult to operate. The Screen is recessed into the bezel and the bezel hurts the finger while its under operation.

    TouchScreen & Display

The Display is a 480×800 px LCD display, which is multitouch and boasts a high contrast and brilliant brightness. The display is absolutely amazing, we always hoped that the HTC samsung fallout wouldn’t happen. so that the HTC phones could continue getting SAMOLED screens. But, this screen makes you feel otherwise. The beautiful display along with brilliant colors from the Windows Phone 7 make the device look and perform great. The touch screen experience is fluid, to the extent that every tap gives you a response. The screen in our case did not fade when tilted, like it did for a lot of others people who complained about the quality of display. Agreed the viewing angle is not as good as we would expect from a device like the said, But, then again how many times do you actually look at your device at a 70-90 degree angle.

The Kickstand plays a major role in how the display looks, Once placed on a surface the angle of view changes to a slightly tilted one, this does not affect the viewing experience  on the device – which can be totally hands-free

Rumor : Android 2.4 to be released in June – Called Ice Cream?

Looks like the info caught on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc was infact not a fluke or a typo. It is rumoured and believed that the latest version of Android is due this summer -June- and will be dubbed 2.4 Ice Cream.

However, the fact that Ice Cream falls in line with their naming scheme of Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb (with Ice Cream coming next falling in alphabetical order) does make this somewhat believable.

We will have to just wait until any confirmation is heard from the head devs at Google.
