The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet sports a 10 inch Live Color LED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.Sony has used its BRAVIA TV technology to generate brighter and more consistent colors, by using a mix of red and green phosphor and blue LEDs.

  • Nokia X, X+ & XL Launched: Here is Everything You Want to Know

Nokia X, X+ & XL Launched: Here is Everything You Want to Know

Ever since the birth of Android operating system, mostly all companies have opted this OS for their smartphones. Android can do better things than what Symbian did; but, Nokia as a company has never believed in the Android platform lately. However, the rumored Nokia X is now official and is the first ever Android smartphone for Nokia.

Talking about the specifications, the Nokia X and X+ sports a 4 inch IPS LCD WVGA display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The Nokia X series is powered by a 1 GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon processor and runs on a forked version of Android 4.1.2. The device is packed with a 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, a microSD support of up to 32 GB. The Nokia X+ is packed with a 768 MB RAM and all other specs remains the same.

    nokia_X_red_1020

The Nokia X and X+ are equipped with a 3 MP fixed focus camera, with no secondary camera. Both devices have a 1500 mAh battery which should work well considering the specs they offer.

Nokia XL comes with a 5-inch 480 x 800 display, a 5 MP camera, a 2 MP front camera, 768 MB RAM and a 2000 mAh battery, all other specifications are same as on the X and X+.

Only one touch button is seen, which can be pressed once to go back and hold it down to return to the home screen. Software customization on the home screen and in the forked OS makes the Nokia X different. This forked version of Android looks like the Windows Phone tiles we are used to see on Nokia Devices.

    Nokia_X_

This forked version of Android will not include Play Store or any Google App, like Chrome, Maps etc, however, it can still manage to run the Android applications you want. These X smartphones from Nokia will instead include, Skype, Here maps, Outlook and more services.

The Nokia X and X+ both shares the same look and are 10.4 mm thick, which is probably not the thinnest device we have known. While the XL keeping up to its name is 10.8 mm thick device. While Nokia and Microsoft deal is about to come in the picture soon, we doubt if Microsoft will continue the X family that Nokia has just started today.

The Nokia X will go on sale immediately, priced at EUR 89  in Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The Nokia X+ and Nokia XL are expected to be available soon, priced at EUR 99 and EUR 109, respectively.

Swiping across reveals the Fastlane feature, an option that is forwarded from Nokia’s Asha devices. However, it is disappointing to see these phone running on forked version of Android 4.1.2 which was launched in 2012.nokia x

Many of us have been waiting for an Android smartphone from Nokia, and today Nokia has ended the wait by launching 3 new Android running smartphones. While you wait for our hands on video do let us know what you think of these devices.

  • Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo: Everything You Would Like To Know

Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo: Everything You Would Like To Know

Putting all the rumors to an end, Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo. Just after five months of the Galaxy Gear’s launch, Samsung is now ready with the new generation of the Gear by removing its much loved ‘Galaxy’ tag.

Samsung at Mobile World Congress has started with announcing the Samsung Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo, both of which should address most of its predecessor’s negative points, as per Samsung. The Galaxy Gear was launched last year along with the company’s entry into the wearable devices. However, the Galaxy Gear was not appreciated by many folks, simply because of the price it was offered for and the limitations of usability. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear was launched in India for 22,900 INR and after a considerable price drop, interested gear lovers can now own it for roughly 15,000 INR.

    gear 2 neo 3

Talking about the new launch, Samsung has now left the Galaxy tag with these new watches because of the change of OS from Android to Tizen. Samsung says that with the new operating system and the new Samsung Gear 2, users can get a 3 days of battery power in one charge.

Furthermore, the company has not only made software changes but also has changed the design. Having said that, the new Samsung Gear 2 has a camera at the front, which certainly enhances the look of the wearable as it avoids the big bump as on its predecessor. Even the mic has shifted to the watch from the strap. Both these changes can allow users to swap the bands, and probably will give users a chance to personalize the look of the device.

Samsung has also included its favorite home button to the new Gear 2, which was missing on the Galaxy Gear. As Samsung has launched two variants, the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo; the specification remains somewhat same for both. Talking about the specifications, the new wearable device sports the same 1.63-inch 320 x 320 pixels touchscreen, the watches are powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core processor, which is am upgrade from the 800 MHz processor seen before. Further in, the Galaxy Gear 2 is packed with a 4 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM, infrared, S Voice, a heart rate sensor, IP67 certification(Water and Dust resistance).

The only major difference between the newbies Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo is of the camera. The Gear 2 features a 2 MP AF camera which can take 720p video and on the other hand, the Gear 2 Neo is missing on the camera. Samsung has not shared the price details, but it should be out soon. Stay tuned for more details!

Google Announces Project Tango, a 5 inch Android Smartphone that Can Map the World Around You

The goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion. The device is a 5 inch Android prototype smartphone equipped with 3D sensors and other components to track motion and map the surroundings around you.

    project tango 5

Google has 200 devices that they are preparing to give out to developers who want to build mapping tools, games, and new algorithms that can take advantage of the technology on the prototype smartphone, and these developer editions will ship by 14th March 2014 as planned by Google.

Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group is the brains behind the project Tango. By now, you might have got an idea of what exactly is Project Tango, now lets see how it works:

    project tango

The device in the Tango project will work by using a motion tracking camera and a sensor built into the backside of the prototype android smartphone. Once the smartphone is moved around, the sensors will detect everything in front of them, and as a result it will build a 3D map of the surroundings using the data captured.

The Project Tango is capable of doing more as per ATAP, while they emphasize this on being at an early stage, they also believe developers will do wonders with this prototype. Project Tango is result of one year research from ATAP, they worked with universities, research labs, and industrial partners spanning nine countries around the world to harvest research from the last decade of work in robotics and computer vision, concentrating that technology into the prototype smartphone.

This project comes from Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects team, the same team which was associated with Motorola but Google decided to keep them, while they let go Motorola. We will keep you updated with all the latest happenings related to the Project Tango, however, you might want to watch the video below to know more:

The big news for today is from Facebook, the company has agreed to acquire the most used instant messaging service all around the world. Facebook acquires WhatsApp for $19 Billion and the WhatsApp team will now work with Facebook.

With the mission of connecting people around the world, Facebook has taken another initiative to make that possible. “Our mission is to make the world more open and connected. We do this by building services that help people share any type of content with any group of people they want. WhatsApp will help us do this by continuing to develop a service that people around the world love to use every day” – Mark Zuckerberg

Jan Koum, WhatsApp co-founder and CEO, said, “WhatsApp’s extremely high user engagement and rapid growth are driven by the simple, powerful and instantaneous messaging capabilities we provide. We’re excited and honored to partner with Mark and Facebook as we continue to bring our product to more people around the world.”
