With the 360 Degree View, Google Has Made Advertisements Interesting

After rolling out 360 degree videos on YouTube in March, Google has now extended the same to video ads from today. No one prefers to sit through advertisements, but Google’s latest move should lead to some interesting ad campaigns, like this one:

Google says that these 360 degree videos are best enjoyed on Cardboard, its VR platform for Android. The VR does give an added advantage to 360 degree videos as it increases the presence of interactive elements in the video. Google says that for every one of these videos run as ads, the results have been impressive. For instance, Google says that Coca-Cola’s 360 video celebrating the 100th anniversary of their iconic bottle design outperformed standard in-stream video ad view-through rates by 36%.

The 360 degree videos can only be viewed on Google Chrome and YouTube apps for iOS and Android. If you want to create your own 360 degree video, you have to use one of these cameras as described by Google: Ricoh Theta,Kodak SP360, Giroptic 360cam, or IC Real Tech Allie.

Check out some more 360 degree videos:

Here’s the Closest Look We’ve Got at the Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Samsung may be months away from launching the upcoming Galaxy Note 5, but this hasn’t stopped people from looking for a glimpse of the new phone. A new set of images has been released by a retailer that shows the colour renders for the Note 5 cases, giving us the closest look at the phone so far.

galaxy note 5 case renderAs you can see in the above image, the Galaxy Note 5 will have a curved back, just like the one we saw a few days back in a render based on leaked CAD data. The design of the new Galaxy Note could be real since the render is for a case of the phone.  The cases are from the Rearth Ringke Fusion and Rearth Ringke Slim series and are already up for preorder.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is likely to feature a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with curves on both the edges. The display is likely to also feature a 4K resolution. • New Moto X (3rd Gen) Leak Shows Front Facing Flash and Fingerprint Scanner

New Moto X (3rd Gen) Leak Shows Front Facing Flash and Fingerprint Scanner

A new set of images about the upcoming Moto X have leaked and reveal some new details that were missing in the previous leak. The new images have leaked on a Facebook page called Peru Android and while the authenticity of the images cannot be claimed, it still provides some interesting information. According to the images, the new Moto X will feature a front facing flash and a fingerprint sensor in a very unique position.

As you can see in the images above, Motorola has placed the flash in the top right corner of the phone. This is good news for selfie enthusiasts, who have to find a bright spot for every time they take a selfie. Moto X (3rd Gen) will reportedly come with a 5MP front camera, which means you can finally post the desired selfies you always wanted.

As far as fingerprint sensor is concerned, Peru Android says that Motorola has built it on the lower front speaker, which is an interesting choice. Unlike Apple and LG, both of which have created a dedicated button for the fingerprint sensor, Motorola has integrated the fingerprint sensor into a functional component.

Motorola will unveil the new Moto G and Moto X at an event on July 28. Till then, we will be on the lookout for any new details.

  • Apple’s Q3 Report Shows The Dismal Performance of Apple Watch and Rise in China

Apple’s Q3 Report Shows The Dismal Performance of Apple Watch and Rise in China

If the latest fiscal report by Apple indicates anything, it is that the company owes its success to iPhones and Macbooks. Apple has posted its third quarterly results for 2015 and the company has performed better than last quarter, but apparently it wasn’t enough for the investors. The company’s share dropped down by 7%, around $60 billion in market value. Still, Apple has generated $49.6 billion in revenue and earned a profit of $10.7 billion, still behind its record of $18 billion that it set during the first quarter of this year.

Apple Watch isn’t the success that people had predicted it would be. Analysts estimated Apple to sell around 4 million units of the watch. The company did not specify how many units were sold, but according to Apple’s Chief Financial Officer, the Apple Watch generated around $1 billion in revenue for the company. The company has combined the sales figures of Apple Watch, Beats products and others, which the company says has generated around $2.64 billions. CEO Tim Cook said that “sales of the watch did exceed (our) own forecasts”, which means that not only Apple Watch but Apple’s acquisition of Beats by Dre has also paid off and will continue to do so in the near future.

The company’s latest report also mentions that for the second straight quarter, China is now the second largest market for Apple. Recently, the company has been trying to make products to suit Chinese customers, going as far as keeping the colour scheme of iPhone 5C according to Chinese preferences. While the sales in China are low from the last quarter, it is still the second largest base after the United States of America.

It will be interesting to see how the company performs in the next quarter, with the launch of the next iPhone and when Apple Music finally starts taking subscriptions.

  • 5 Apps That Will Allow You to Exchange Files Between iOS and Android

5 Apps That Will Allow You to Exchange Files Between iOS and Android

Thanks to apps like WhatsApp and Hike, sharing images, music and videos between iOS and Android devices has become easy. Still, there are some files that cannot be sent over through WhatsApp and even if we e-mail the files, the large size of the file will eat most of the internet data. There are some apps which will allow you to send files between Android and iOS devices without any hassles:

    1. Instashare:

    instashare

The Instashare app works on a simple principle- drag and drop the file onto your nearby contacts list and the app takes care of the rest. It works on the same principle of Apple’s AirDrop. Instashare supports all types of file formats and works easily on both Android and iOS.

    2. Fast File Transfer:

    file fast transfer

The app, available for Android users, creates a local Wi-fi network and allows iOS devices to log into them. The user can then send large files over small distances through the local Wi-Fi network created. The network is unique to the Android device and allows the iOS device to log into it. It’s faster than Bluetooth and easy to use.

    3. Feem:

    feem

Feem works just like Fast File Transfer, sending files over locally created wi-fi networks. The app has to be installed in both iOS and Android devices, though. Once the users enter their partner’s username, they can easily exchange the files.

    4. Sharable:

    sharable

Sharable works just like Instashare, except it’s completely free, without any advertisements and restrictions on file size. The device connects users through their device’s local wi-fi.

    5. File Transfer For iOS / Android:

    file transfer for iOS

File Transfer for iOS, along with the companion app File Transfer for Android, allows users to transfer files between their different devices. It uses Bluetooth when possible, making the process of sending files through Wi-Fi, unnecessary. The software automatically detects nearby devices.

Amazon Prime is a membership program that offers unlimited free shipping on  most deliveries with no minimum order size, unlimited backup for photos, access to streaming movies and music, free books from the Kindle Lending Library and more for an annual fee of $99. Think of it as Flipkart First, but with streaming and backup. Not only that, the company will also launch its Instant Video service, which is a major competitor to Netflix.

Amazon India users have been waiting for the Prime and Instant Video services since the website launched in 2013. While Amazon may reduce the price of its Prime service, it will be interesting to see how it launches the Instant Video for Indian users. Amazon’s Instant Video is known for providing stock as well as original programming abroad, so will the same happen in India, is a question we will be waiting to get the answer of. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if Amazon also launches its digital music service, which is also currently unavailable in India.

Amazon’s Instant Video provides streaming for TV shows and movies as well as its own content, in a unique way: it will stream the first episode of a TV show and ask viewers to vote on whether the show should be made or not. For now, it seems Amazon will only provide streaming of current TV shows and movies before it forays into original Indian programming. As far as its digital music service is concerned, it may take a lesson or two from Flipkart, which used to have its own music service, Flyte, before it was shut down due to low profits.

With Netflix poised to come next year and e-commerce websites like Snapdeal and Flipkart upping their services, it is a good time to be a consumer.
