20 People Injured At LG’s G2 Event In Seoul

LG attempted to muster up some enthusiasm for its new G2 smartphone with an event in Seoul, but after it ended poorly, the hardware maker decided to cancel all ensuing G2 PR occasions.

20 people were injured at a recent promotional event in South Korea. According to the Korea Times, the event in Seoul saw balloons filled with coupons redeemable for a free LG G2 released into the air. But LG’s plans backfired when some attendees brandishing BB guns attempted to shoot down the balloons, leading to a reported 20 individuals being inadvertently shot.

“Some were using BB guns to shoot the balloons. As far as I know, there were only some 20 security guards. LG should have placed more security personnel as the event was already promoted via social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and leading local portals. Some of the injured were hospitalized,” a witness said.

“We cancelled events offering free G2 smartphones that had been scheduled in major cities nationwide, including Busan, due to safety concerns,” LG said in a statement.

LG has issued an apology regarding the incident and has promised to cover the medical bills of all the injured.

The LG G2 was launched last week and features a 5.2-inch full HD resolution display, a thin bezel on the side that’s only 2.65 mm thick, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor operating at 2.26 GHz., a 3000 mAh internal battery promising more than a full days use per charge, a 13-megapixel rear-camera featuring optical image stabilization technology, 24 bit/192kHz Hi-Fi playback, 16GB/32GB storage capacities, and the Android 4.2.2 operating system.

LG G2 vs LG Optimus G Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One | Flagships Compared

LG is in the lime light once again with its latest flagship smartphone, the G2. Powered by the mighty Snapdragon 800 chipset with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.3GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM, the LG G2 simply blows the competition out of the box in terms of processing power.

The battle of the Flagship devices is always on, today we are going to compare the latest Flagship devices available or to be available in the market which are LG G2, LG Optimus G pro, Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC one. All these devices are of different screen sizes which are 5.2″, 5.5″, 5″ and 4.7″ respectively. All of these devices have a full HD resolution, which can give an edge to HTC one for the ppi. We think most people would not notice difference between 424 ppi of the LG G2 and 469 ppi for the HTC one.

Let us compare all of these devices in detail below:

It’s a matter of preference, but it’s hard to compete with the big guys. LG might not beat any of these in sales. The general consumer tends to go with the popular choices like Samsung and HTC. This does not mean that the LG G2 is not  the best your money can buy. As far as India is concerned pricing may be the biggest factor. So which one would you take home ? you can leave your views in the comment section below.

  • LG G2 Announced : Snapdragon 800, 5.2-inch Full HD Display, Rear Volume Controls

LG G2 Announced : Snapdragon 800, 5.2-inch Full HD Display, Rear Volume Controls

LG announced the followup to the Optimus G today, bringing a brand new design, a massive specs sheet and rear volume controls that promise a refined, mature Android experience.

    lG G2

The LG G2 intends to approach smartphone design slightly differently, by being ensuring that all of the buttons are located on the rear of the device, which would mean this is the first smartphone in the market to lack any side buttons at all. The idea for a Rear Key concept arrived after LG noticed that users found it more difficult to access the side keys properly the larger a handset is.

    LG G2

A spacious, 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with an amazingly thin bezel graces the front of the LG G2. Its resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels ensures that everything on it will look nice and sharp, especially knowing that a standard RGB sub-pixel arrangement has been implemented. The screen panel will be countering the sun’s rays with 450 nits of maximum brightness output.

This is the first device announced to carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (with 2GB of RAM), which will have four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.26Ghz and the company’s new Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 500Mhz. This SoC is a huge upgrade over the Snapdragon 600, and should allow for next-generation 3D gaming (when it arrives).

    LG G2

Storage on the general model is 32GB with a microSD card slot included for further expansion, while LG has opted to switch to nano-SIM for its latest handset, following a trend set by Apple and recently supported by Asus and Motorola.

The LG G2 has a 13-megapixel shooter at the back with Optical Image Stabilization and a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera, a 3,000mAh battery and Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box. The LG G2 will be the first commercially available handset with support for 24bit, 192kHz audio output.

Following the global launch event in New York City on August 7, the LG says the G2 will be rolled out globally in over 130 countries in the next eight weeks starting in South Korea followed by North America, Europe and other key markets. Specific dates for market availability will vary by region. No word on pricing for the Indian region yet!

LG also uploaded a bunch of LG G2 related videos on their YouTube account, which can be viewed below.

LG G2 Images Leak Ahead Of Official Launch

LG is all set to unveil its new flagship smartphone G2 at an event in New York later on Wednesday, but that hasn’t stopped the device from making ‘another’ appearance.

Evleaks has posted some images of the LG G2. The latest leaked images are in line with the previous leak and shows nothing new. One of the image shows the front panel of the yet to be announced smartphone that shows the 5.2-inch display with thin bezel at the sides, the back panel shows the rear camera along with an LED flash, power key and volume keys.

The LG G2 is rumoured to be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The smartphone is also expected to be so thin that it features back-mounted volume controls, instead of ones on the side. It is likely to sport a 5.2-inch full-HD display and would run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Earlier, LG also released a teaser video featuring the G2. The video ended with a teaser of the black round-edged device that clearly showed the rear camera with up and down arrows above and below it.

The company is aggressively promoting the handset globally with ad campaigns hitting the web and TV in various parts of the world.

With this the company also unveiled a series of colorful Quick Window cases for its upcoming smartphone. The company announced that the all new line of premium cases for the LG G2 will be available at the same time as the smartphone. The cases will be available in seven different colors that include Black, White, Pink, Purple, Blue, Mint and Yellow.

LG G2 User Manual Leaks, Reveals Removable Battery And Expandable Memory

LG hasn’t been shy when it comes to teasing its upcoming flagship G2. We’ve seen LG drop the ‘Optimus’ name from its marketing, unload various teaser videos, and even announce official cases. In addition, a plethora of leaked images and hands-on videos revealed its design and unique features – mainly the back volume buttons.

A new post on Nowhereelse, by the way of a user manual, confirms previous rumours and a few missing specs of the LG G2 :

    – Android 4.3
    – 5.2-inch display 1920 × 1.080
    – 2.3Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 330 graphics chip
    – 2GB of RAM
    – 32GB internal storage (no micro-SD slot)
    – 13MP rear-facing camera
    – 2.1MP front-facing camera
    – uses a nano-SIM
    – 4G/LTE capabilities
    – back volume buttons
    – 138.5mm x 70.9mm x 8.9mm thin
    – 143 grams
    – 2,610mAh removable battery

The manual appears to be legit and reveals the phone will be using the nano-SIM standard like the Motorola Moto X and the iPhone 5. This leak also gives confirmation of the 2610 mAh battery, which will also be user-removable.

    LG G2

The leaked shots show that the LG G2, or at least this Korean LG-F320 version of it, will measure in at 138.5mm x 70.9mm x 8.9mm and weigh 143g.

The LG G2 will officially be unveiled in New York on Wednesday, August 7th and we’ll bring you all the details.

  • LG Launches PD233 Pocket Sized Printer In India

LG Launches PD233 Pocket Sized Printer In India

LG today launched a pocket-sized photo printer called LG PD233 Pocket Photo in India. The LG PD233 is available at retail stores across India for Rs 14,990.

Named Pocket Photo, the mini photo printer is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, operating wirelessly over either Bluetooth or near field communications (NFC).

Fitting in the palm of your hand, Pocket Photo produces small 3x2in colour prints as requested by the connected device. In order to do so, however, users need to download the LG photo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store, where they can also embed QR codes or make quick edits directly from the device before printing.

Pocket Photo employs inkless printing technology from Zink, which LG claims eliminates the need for expensive ink cartridges.

“Printed photos offer a certain intimate appeal and tactile pleasure that digital images simply can’t provide,” LG said. “Whether you want to keep a photo in your wallet or add it to a personal scrapbook or diary, LG’s smart mobile printer offers the ideal solution.”

The Pocket Photo measures 72x120x24mm and weighs 215g.

  • LG G2 Quick Window Case gets official launch before the phone’s launch.

LG G2 Quick Window Case gets official launch before the phone’s launch.

LG G2 is the next upgrade for the LG Optimus G which is slated for launch on Aug 7th, but the company is not holding back in sending out accessories for the slated handset. Just like Samsung’s S View cover the Quick WIndow case has a cutout window in the front. But LG has gone one step forward and designed a new QuickView UI which will light up the area with incoming call details, text messages, a clock, weather report, alarm or music player.

The availability for the LG G2 is still a mystery, but if LG intention to launch accessories is clear, it seems that the phone is not too far away!

Convenient QuickWindowTM Case for LG G2 Available in Seven Colors

SEOUL, July 30, 2013 – LG Electronics (LG) will be introducing a line of premium cases for its upcoming flagship device, LG G2, to be available at the same time as the smartphone. The aesthetically beautiful case, QuickWindow, is the newest addition to LG’s growing premium smartphone accessory lineup, which includes cases, headsets and portable chargers.

An opening or “window” on the cover of QuickWindow allows users to glance at various information displays without having to open the cover flap. With only a light swipe of a finger, the QuickWindow UX will appear in the window which users can view while on the go. Information that can be viewed through the QuickWindow cover include a clock, weather report, alarm, music player, incoming phone call details and incoming text messages.

“LG’s newest premium accessory delivers practical and stylish options while protecting the smartphone, which for many consumers is a significant investment,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our smartphone designers have in mind the type of case they’d like to see on their designs. So it made a lot of sense for LG designers to share with our customers their vision of the perfect accessory.”

LG G2 is scheduled to be launched on August 7 thanks to a brand new video by the company that says “Come See how the G2 is Learning from you”. • New LG G2 Leaks Indicates A Removable 2540 mAh Battery

New LG G2 Leaks Indicates A Removable 2540 mAh Battery

LG is expected to launch a sequel to its venerable Optimus G smartphone on August 7th in New York. Dubbed ‘G2‘, the phone is supposed to have some of the best internal specs of any device released this year, indicating the company’s partnership with Qualcomm is alive and well.

With a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, a 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 13MP BSI camera and, newly-leaked, a 2540mAh battery, the G2 appears impressively adorned. Because the device is so thin — under 8mm if the leaks are accurate — LG has opted to include rear volume buttons, along with what appears to be a play/pause key between them.

    Lg G2

While the LG G2 has done the normal press rendering dance in front of the cameras we have yet to see what’s under the hood. So a new screenshot, despite its weird crop job, gives us a sneak peak at what exactly lies beneath the surface. You can see the back-facing volume and power buttons, while also giving us sight of the device’s battery, which seems like it’ll be a removable one.

As a comparison we can say the Galaxy S 4 has a 2600 mAh battery and the HTC One has a 2300 mAh battery. Simply put, this LG G2 leak has the battery sitting in the middle at the moment. Alternatively, the LG Optimus G Pro is currently sporting a 3140 mAh battery. But again, we need to look towards real-world use for the end result.

If this all pans to be true, would you opt for the LG G2 just for the removable battery feature? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  • LG Optimus G Pro E988 / E 985 Flash Review

    LG Optimus G Pro E988 / E 985 Flash Review

LG has mostly faced challenges in releasing devices in India, they have either been too late (i.e. Nexus 4 ) or too early (Optimus 3D) in some cases awkward ( Optimus VU) and in some cases they have failed to hit the hammer on the nail (Optimus G). With the new LG Optimus G Pro, the company seems to have almost all the things right except the massive price difference in the US $ when the competition launched their phone and when LG launched their phone. The LG Optimus G pro is available for a price of Rs. 38990 , but does it justify that value? Lets Find Out !

     LG Optimus G pro 5

    Build Quality and Hardware

The build quality of the LG Optimus G Pro is nowhere near the HTC One, in fact it appears as if the Korean Manufacturers (read: Samsung and LG) like building their phones with plastic as the major component. The LG Optimus G Pro however is no light weight and can hold its own when it comes to build. The construction is solid and don’t expect any rattle or shake from the device.

The LG Optimus G Pro looks very identical to the Galaxy Note 2, maybe LG is playing on the worlds new weakness for Galaxy devices, as Samsung played for iPhone’s love.

The hardware on this phone is as big as the device itself, Qualcomm’s crazy fast quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, with the Adreno 320 GPU, 2 Gigs of RAM and a total of 32 GB of storage.

The cameras include a set of fantastic full HD capable sensors, with a 13 MP main camera and a 2.1 MP front facing camera which we will talk more about below.

LG Optimus G Pro E988 Unboxing 0Display, Multimedia and Camera

The LCD on the LG Optimus G Pro is not as bright as the Optimus G, where the screen felt just fantastic, here it seems a little dull. The display is big and wonderful no doubt, but it is definitely not the best display out there. LG usually throws in IPS displays and the viewing angles are great, the same is the case with the new LG Optimus G Pro and its IPS Plus LCD display. Add to the great colour reproduction and a 10 point multitouch panel overlay, which works really well.

Not only is the display fantastic, so is the audio. The Speakers are loud so if you are watching movies or videos or even playing games, you will be quite pleased with the capabilities of the LG Optimus G Pro.

    LG Optimus G pro 8

The main camera on the LG Optimus G Pro, yields out great compositions, with a impressive hold on color correction and white balance. You can also manually adjust most of these things, but the auto mode is mostly accurate and can really deliver great pictures. The camera also has several shooting modes, including panorama, quick bust etc all of which work really well.

The HD video captured on the LG Optimus G Pro also gets stabilization among other effects. The video comes out nice, has little noise during the day and is well balanced in low light. You can also activate the infamous dual camera mode allowing your video to be captured while you capture the world.

    [youtube id=”hpqyGXOVMIM” width=”100%” height=”300px”]

    Phone, UI and Battery

The Phone call capability of LG Optimus G Pro is strong and we found networks to be exceptionally potent. The signal strength is almost always proper and we found little or no noise distortion when on calls.

The Optimus UI on the new Android Jelly Bean interface makes for a great experience, including several apps that actually work really well. The quick remote app on the LG Optimus G Pro controls more things than any remote app out there, it even remembers your AC and lets you control it with the flick of a finger. There are many other features like quick apps, Qslide and quick toggles, the quick note also lets you scribble directly on the screen and then later save it as a note.

    LG Optimus G pro 6

The UI itself however, is not so pretty looking. It looks kind of clustered and reminds you of a messy lifestyle vs a more refined and organized one on other manufacturer overlays.

Battery is superb on the LG Optimus G Pro and will last you a really long time. We got good 6-7 hours of talk time over dodgy 3G reception, which is actually really fantastic. Below is the complete test result.

    Function

    Battery Life

    Talk Time  6-7 Hours / 3G
    Internet Usage 7 Hours
    Music Playback 11 hours
    Video Playback 6 hours
    Avg. Charge Cycle 1.5 days

    [youtube id=”anu97GFi2S0″ width=”100%” height=”300px”]

    Conclusion

If you really want a big phone then this has to be it. The phone is fantastic, it’s fast to boot and responsive throughout, plays games great and has excellent cameras. It is large enough to a point where using it with one hand would simply be foolish, even if you have large hands like mine. The UI is the biggest let down and simply can be written over with a tap of a button.

If big is your thing then the LG Optimus G Pro is the right kind of slab for you.

  • LG Optimus G2 Video Appears Online, Shots Confirm Rear Volume Buttons

LG Optimus G2 Video Appears Online, Shots Confirm Rear Volume Buttons

It’s just under a month until LG unveils what will almost certainly be the sequel to its Optimus G, but this year’s version appears more than twice as ambitious.

The LG Optimus G2 — it is rumoured though that the company is expected to drop the “Optimus” moniker from its future versions — looks to come with a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, a 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 13MP camera, 32GB internal storage, and a glossy plastic build material that may we hope does not resemble the Galaxy S4.

    Lg Optimus G2

One of the main design decisions that may come back to bite the company is placing the volume rocker on the LG Optimus G2’s rear, right underneath the camera sensor. Whether this will end up causing a camera lens smudging epidemic remains to be seen, but we can’t see it being comfortable reaching for the controls on a regular basis.

A video of the LG Optimus G2 has also surfaced online. Looks authentic and reveals the back volume buttons.

Of the Android UI we can see very little. LG will announce the LG Optimus G2 at an event in New York on August 7th and we’ll provide you with all the information you will need.

LG Optimus G2 Will Be Launched On August 7, Rumours Point At 5.2″ 423ppi Display

The reliable @evleaks recently posted an image of the LG Optimus G2 and now LG has more or less confirmed that the device will be unveiled at an event in New York on August 7th.

    lg optimus g2

It’s been suggested that this machine will be a hero device for LG to take on the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S 4. To do this, the company is tipped to be bringing a top-notch display with edge-to-edge technology making for a rather unique experience in the palm of the users’ hand.

Added together with the rest of the year’s leaks and projections to date, the LG Optimus G2 is expected to feature a full 1080p HD 5.2-inch touchscreen with a retina-busting 423ppi pixel density.

A Snapdragon 800 processor backed by up to 3GB of RAM will power the LG Optimus G2, with the rear will feature a 13-megapixel camera. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is expected to be driving things at the helm, with a new build of the Optimus UI running on top.

@evleaks had earlier posted a leaked shot of LG Optimus G2 that indicated the volume rocker keys will be placed behind the smartphone.

This smartphone will likely start retailing from the third quarter of 2013.

The LG Optimus G Pro is also price considerably higher than what LG had originally decided (around Rs. 35000) making it a tough seller, since the competition can continue selling stocks bought at earlier dollar prices. Samsung and HTC are also set to raise prices of handsets if the Dollar Price does not normalize in the coming days.
