Apple finalizes Cloud Streaming deal with EMI, Still in talks with SONY and Universal

According to a report filed by CNET, Apple has completed a cloud-music streaming deal with record label EMI. Apple, Sony Music Entertainment and the Universal Music Group are working on agreements as well

Warner Music Group and Apple have already signed a cloud service agreement .

“Apple will finish behind Google and Amazon in the race to the cloud, but Apple now has the freedom to offer a range of features that rivals are prevented from rolling out because of the licensing restrictions,”

The cloud is the term used to describe when a person uses a third-party’s servers for computing instead of a local PC. One of the core features of a cloud music service is enabling consumers to store their songs on the companies’ servers. They can then access their libraries from Web-connected devices.

Redfish Instruments Introduces World’s First iPhone-Enabled Wireless Multimeter

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Redfish Instruments, Inc., a provider of iPhone- and iPad-enabled electronic test and measurement equipment, announced today the introduction of the iDVM™ Digital Multimeter. The iDVM multimeter wirelessly connects to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch via an ad hoc wireless network allowing users to acquire, visualize, and share electrical measurement data on their Apple devices. The iDVM app can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store.

According to Patrick O’Hara, Redfish Instruments’ president and CEO, “The unique pairing of the iPhone or iPad with a digital multimeter provides a user experience that is truly revolutionary. Not since the advent of the LCD has the multimeter been so substantially enhanced.” Regarding the market opportunity, Mr. O’Hara commented, “The iPhone and iPad provide a known user interface that permits customers to interact with electronic test and measurement tools that was not possible prior to this post-pc era. We believe that our new iDVM voltmeter is the first of many new uses for this tremendous interface; we’re excited to be an early pioneer.”

Traditionally, multimeters have not provided an easy method of exporting or saving data. The iDVM permits a user to log data over an extended period of time using the iPhone or the iPad as the storage device. For example, service engineers can use the iDVM to collect data and store it in a report for submission to their clients, or keep the data on the voltmeter for their own records. Using the GeoTag feature of the iPhone or iPad, service engineers can even identify their location as part of the data. The iDVM is built in the USA using all USA-made parts, and uses rechargeable batteries.

The iDVM was designed for a wide range of users-from automotive technicians, to advanced embedded systems engineers, to electrical or building contractors, to field service workers.

App a Day: Waze |Social Maps for iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Blackberry

Waze. The new social navigation app which provides you with real-time traffic updates as well as turn-by-turn navigation. The app is really fun to use and comes with a host of features. Since the maps are crowd-sourced, they’re always up to date and accurate in areas where google maps fail. The social aspect of the app comes from its ability to create local traffic groups, which help all drivers in the group by providing traffic updates, accident reports, speed trap data etc.

The app is more of a game than a navigation app as it has a PAC-MANesque interface that has little dots that your car can gobble up while you drive, you also have toffees that appear from time to time  for extra points. If you’re in an area where there are no maps or the maps are wrong, you can re-map them by switching to dozer mode, which turns your car into a bull-dozer so you can pave your own road! This is a great feature and the first time we’ve seen a navigation app providing this level of detail. A full feature list of the app is below.

    NAVIGATION FEATURES:

    • Voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation
    • Live crowdsourced traffic information
    • Real-time monitoring of road conditions and automatic re-routing as conditions on the road change
    • Alternative route options
    • Notification when approaching police traps and speed cams
    • Learns and personalizes your preferred routes
    • Free, community-updated map

    SOCIAL DRIVING FEATURES:

    • Road reports from nearby drivers – speed cams, police traps, accidents hazards and more, with the ability to add a photo to your report
    • Ability to create or join local driving groups
    • See your Facebook friends on the map
    • Check in via Foursquare to earn the ‘Road Warrior’ badge
    • Fun avatars to choose from
    • Ability to ‘ping’ other wazers
    • Twitter integration to share your road reports
    • ‘Road goodies’ for extra points, scoreboard, plus other cool geo-gaming elements

    SAFETY AND OTHER FEATURES:

    • Typing disabled while car is in motion
    • Voice-alerts when approaching a hazard
    • Automatic shut-down after 10 minutes of no movement to preserve battery life

Well we found an app that brings back a few childhood memories of sitting in front of the TV and furiously mashing the controls of the NES to kill a few bad guys and achieve 14-bit glory. Here we have a misappropriatly named game called Contr2Brothers – a copy of the good-old game Contra. It features the same game-play as the original with on-screen controls that are slightly tough to use. The game claims to offer 30 lives but we still haven’t figured out how to get there. The audio is a little irritating after a while so you might want to mute it. One good feature is that the game supports upto 2 players via a bluetooth connection. Apple Sues Samsung for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and other Infringements

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal , Apple sued Samsung Electronics Co., claiming that Samsung’s Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablet copied Apple’s iPhone and iPad. For patent infringements.

    The Filing claims

“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,”

The lawsuit is kind of ironic, because Samsung manufactures key components that go into Apple Products, from Displays, to microchips and even camera sensors. This lawsuit ma actually sour the relationships between the two smartphone giants and result in other tie-ups.

The new Galaxy Tab is also the strongest rival to the iPad 2 , which may have been the biggest cause for the lawsuit.

The latest version of iOS 4.3.2 was released by Apple just days after the jailbreak for the iOS 4.3.1 came out. But, in an exciting turn of events looks like the newest version is still vulnerable to i0n1c’s untethered jailbreak method. Although a lot of failures occurred and the Dev-Team decided to pull the iPhone 4 jailbreak from  redsn0w, leaving iPhone 4 users to rely on a tethered jailbreak, atleast till i0n1c has a chance to fix the venerability patch for iPhone 4.

You can download the latest version of Redsn0w Here.

Please Note : Jailbreak does not mean unlock, if your device is locked to a carrier network this will not work to unlock your device.
