Lenovo Showcased its New Range of Gaming PC’s

Lenovo today launched its new range of gaming PCs that includes the IdeaCentre Horizon 27, IdeaPad Y510p and the IdeaPad Z510 for the Indian market. All these devices are equipped with high performance graphics and audio, all of these devices comes along with windows 8.

Shailendra Katyal, Director- Consumer Business, Lenovo India said, “We are happy to enter the gaming sphere with a complete portfolio of gaming machines that cater to both individuals and families. Lenovo is fostering its growth in the PC+ era through these multi-media devices that will add a new dimension to our existing portfolio of Consumer products and redefine the concept of gaming in India.”

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 runs 4th generation of Intel Core i7 processor. It features a 15.6 inch display and comes with up to 16 GB DDR3L RAM. The device also includes Intel Wireless Display Technology that allows to stream content to any other device with a bigger display. The IdeaPad Z510 comes with stereo speakers with Dolby Theatre certification for audio enhancement. The device is priced at Rs. 50,990, and will be available from October.

However, the second product was the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27 which is an all-in-one PC that supports multi-touch and doubles up as a table PC. It features a 27 inch display and runs on 4th generation of Intel Core i7. The device is powered by Nvidia GeForce GT 620M 1GB/2GB graphics with DirectX 11 and sports stereo speakers with Dolby Home Theater V4. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27 will be available in India from next week, at a price of Rs. 1,36,500.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p features a 15.6 inch full HD LED Glare display. It runs 4th generation of Intel Core i7 processor and is powered by dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB dual graphics with use of Ultrabay technology. The device comes with a 8 GB of RAM and includes a 1 TB of Hard disk.

Some other features of this device are backlight enabled accutype keyboard with touchpad, USB 3.0 Port, HDMI output, 720p HD Webcam and Dual Digital Array Microphones. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p will be available in India from next week in Black colour, at a price of Rs. 69,990.

Micromax Launched ‘Canvas Tab’ a 8 inch Tablet priced at 16,500 INR

Micromax has unveiled its first tablet in the Canvas series, the Canvas Tab P650. The new Canvas Tab is priced at Rs. 16,500.

The Micromax Canvas Tab P650 has a 8 inch IPS display and sports 1 GB of RAM. The device comes with 16 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB via micro SD card. The Canvas Tab is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. The tablet is equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. The device includes a 4800 mAh battery.

Sony Launches Cyber-Shot DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10 Lens Cameras in India

Sony today launched the all new lens cameras, DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10 adding up to its Cyber-shot range. These cameras can easily clip on the smartphone and can be connected via NFC.

Both the lens cameras fits in all the popular smartphones, as said by the company and the connection to the phone is made via NFC and the latest version of Sony’s PlayMemories mobile app. The lens cameras do not have to be necessarily attached to the phone all the time as they can be placed anywhere the users want it to be and the shutter can still be controlled from the mobile.

DSC-QX10

The DSC-QX10 weighs 105 grams with the battery, the device has a 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor with the Sony G lens. The device has a 10x optical zoom range, along with a SteadyShot, which the company claims will combat with the camera shake, give steady and blur free videos.

DCS-QX100

On the other hand, the DCS-QX100 has a 1.0 type Exmor R CMOS sensor with 20.2 MP, this device has dedicated keys to control the zoom and shutter release on the camera body. This device is teamed with a wide aperture Carl-Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 3.6x optical zoom that also include a Optical SteadyShot.

Both these devices have BIONZ processors which the company claims will give natural, detailed packed stills and HD videos along with superior audio. The DSC-QX100 has a dedicated control ring for adjustment if manual focus and zoom.

Google and Intel Announce New Haswell Chromebooks

Google and Intel introduced three new Chromebooks and a Chromebox, each of them running Intel’s Haswell processors. This was announced on Wednesday at Intel Developer Forum keynote in San Francisco, as Intel VP Doug Fisher and Sundar Pichai, the head of Google’s Android and Chrome divisions, showed off the new hardware.

They revealed two new laptops from existing partners HP and Acer, a Chromebook from Toshiba and a Chromebox from Asus. These devices makes Asus and Toshiba’s first devices into Chrome OS hardware. Doug Fisher promised battery life improvements of up to 50 percent and performance jumps as high as 15 percent for Haswell Chrome devices over their previous generation chipsets.

There are customers telling us they are interested in new operating systems and in particular Chromebooks,” said Ron Coughlin, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer PCs, Services and Solutions, HP. “We built the HP Chromebook to offer a great experience, choice and affordability, with a design that is truly unique.”

The HP Chromebook 14 offers a fast and easy way for customers to connect to favorite websites in seconds. It also offers a gateway to the Google experience, including Google Chrome apps like Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google+ Hangouts for users daily routine.

Some time back Chrome was just a browser and nothing else. But if Chrome OS is going to grow up and truly take on Microsoft and Apple, it will need both better applications and good hardware.

The HP Chromebook14 is expected to be available in the US by end of the year, starting at $299.99.

Toshiba Encore 8 Inch Windows Tablet Launched

Toshiba has always been more active in its laptop segment, but this time the company has launched a new tablet called the Toshiba Encore.

The Toshiba Encore has an 8-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The device is powered by an Intel Bay Trail Atom processor. The company says that Encore has been developed in collaboration with Microsoft and has been optimized for Windows 8.1. It includes an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. The tablet weighs about 479 grams. The Toshiba Encore includes 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded by a a micro SD card. Micro-USB port, Micro-HDMI port and Wi-Fi are some connectivity options for this device.

“Encore is poised to re-energize the opportunity for Windows tablets in the market,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “Our fundamental approach to designing Encore was to create a better convergence of hardware and software so the overall app experience and capabilities on a Windows-based device is better than ever. Windows has a lot to offer for a tablet user, and with the new features that Windows 8.1 brings, we believe that Encore will deliver more choice against a range of competitive tablets.”

The Encore tablet will hit the market in November for a price of $330.

Nokia Launches The Biggest Lumia Yet : Lumia 625

Nokia, which is lagging behind rivals like Apple and Samsung in the global smartphone market, has launched its biggest-ever Lumia phone in India dubbed the “Lumia 625”. Nokia is planning to make available the Lumia 625, the handset with largest touchscreen in its portfolio, by the end of August.

The Nokia Lumia 625 will feature a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display, the biggest for a Lumia handset, but the phone will be a mid-range device. The screen will also feature the Super Sensitive Touch technology which allows you to use the handset with gloves on (lucky since winters are around the corner, not!). Under the hood is a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and Windows Phone 8 operating system with Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 processor. Like its inspiration, The Acer Aspire S3 Series was designed to be as light and quick as a hummingbird. With Acer’s Ultrabook, there is no need to waste time shutting down and restarting. It’s always ready in a flash for online browsing, instant messaging, social networking and other activities.

Acer’s Green Instant On Technology delivers ultra-fast responsiveness, resuming from Sleep mode in as little as 2 seconds. The 20GB SSD drive stores the operating system and maintains the current PC’s state as it was when left unattended, so when the computer is awakened, web sites, emails or documents previously in use are instantly restored.

After 8 hours of inactivity, the Aspire S3 Series will enter Deep Sleep mode, from which it will resume in 6 seconds. The user can change this 8 hour default setting to 120 minutes, which is recommended for longer trips or periods of inactivity.

With these energy-conscious innovations, the battery life lasts up to 50 days – even longer than regular mobile phone batteries. All-day usability is delivered with an integrated long-life battery that delivers up to 6 hours of computing time.

You don’t have to be Rich to be Thin
Sporting an ultra-thin design and an MSRP of just $899, the Acer Aspire S3-951 is light in your briefcase and light on your wallet. Measuring just half-an-inch at its thinnest and weighing a mere 2.98 pounds, it’s as easy to carry as a magazine or file folder. Its overall dimensions are 12.59 inches by 8.52-inches by .51 to.68-inches, making it one of the thinnest notebooks available on the market.

The liberal use of magnesium aluminum/alloy contributes to the Aspire S3’s rigid frame while also keeping the system as light as possible. The aerodynamic design includes a metallic silver gray hairline finish, and a fingerprint-free finish on the lid that feels as smooth as silk. The 13.3-inch ultra-thin HD LED display uses an open cell design, integrating the display’s covers with the glass panel. This allows the lid and bezel to form a strong aluminum frame around the screen, and reduces the bezel thickness by about 10 percent, creating a super-slim silhouette that is still strong enough to protect the display.

A seamless and uncluttered chassis, only a card reader and headphone connector are located on the left and right side; all the other connectors are located in the back, keeping the side profiles clean and sleek.

For user convenience, the power and battery status indicators are located on the outside corner, allowing them to be viewed even when the lid is closed. In addition, the power button is located above the keyboard underneath the LCD, so it’s easy to reach but won’t be accidentally pressed when the notebook is picked up and moved. A large multi-gesture touchpad and full size chiclet keyboard keeps the design simple and neat.

The Acer Aspire Ultrabook also includes numerous design elements that keep the system running cool and efficiently. Apple Starts Selling Lion OSX USB stick online : US$ 69

Apple has finally released its OS X Lion USB thumb drive, available now at its online store. If you want an alternative to the Mac App Store download file which deletes itself after each install, this usb stick might be the correct answer for you.

The only catch is that the usb stick sells for US$ 69, when you can download the OS for just US$ 29 from the App store. These are only currently available in the US, so you will either need to wait several weeks, or find alternate ways to get them to your doorstep.

The D5100 will give you a new creative perspective thanks to its improved Vari-angle screen, special effects mode and full (1080p) HD Movie.

Unique viewing angles
The successor to the popular Nikon D5000, the D5100 features an improved Vari-angle LCD screen. The screen now opens horizontally for greater maneuverability, even when using a tripod. This freedom of movement adds unparalleled creativity when using Live View, allowing shooting from virtually any angle. You can also view pictures and movies in more detail on the high resolution (approximately 921k-dot), 7.5 cm (3-in.) wide-viewing angle monitor.

The Live View function is a simple and intuitive way of taking pictures and with the D5100’s dedicated switch it is even more straight-forward to operate. When using Auto mode you don’t even need to worry about the scene you are shooting, as Scene Auto Selector chooses the most appropriate settings to give you the best image.

Inspire your creativity
The D5100 has a newly introduced special effects mode to shoot amazingly unique pictures and full (1080p) HD movies. The range of seven effects include selective colour, where you select up to three colours to appear in the still or movie while other areas are monochrome, and miniature effect, which makes an image appear like a view of miniature scale. You can select which special effect to shoot in and they are directly accessible via the mode dial on the top of the camera.

Stunning HD movies
The Nikon D5100 makes it effortless to switch between shooting stills and movies as the D-Movie button is located next to the shutter release. This position gives a more stable grip on the camera when starting or stopping filming, or switching between shooting stills and movies. You can record all the action in full (1080p) HD at 24 / 25 / 30 fps whilst using the unique range of special effects and the AF-F will ensure your subject is always in focus. The D5100 makes it easy to achieve superior image quality, even in low-light conditions, with features inherited from the D7000. The DX-format 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, delivers rich colours and fine detail for both pictures and movies, whilst the powerful image-processing engine, EXPEED 2, maximizes the performance of the sensor for exceptional quality. Adding to this the D5100 has an expanded sensitivity range to further help capture brilliant images in challenging light conditions – the ISO ranges from 100 to 6400 and can be raised to ISO 25600 at Hi 2, for low-noise images that do not lose the details. iG Exclusive : Blackberry Playbook Coming to India in May : Priced

The Wait is finally over. We have exclusive news that the Blackberry Playbook is coming to India in the First week of May. Exact Dates are still unknown, But, we are trying to dig deeper into the Tablet haven and get more juicy details on the upcoming Tablet from the super popular RIM-Blackberry India Mobile Division.

We also have information that the tablet will launch at a price of INR 24999/- and will work with all existing Blackberry Devices that run OS 6 and above. At launch the device will only be able to access emails and content via the tether with mobile option. Later on RIM plans to unlock the untether functionality of the device to work as a stand alone tablet.

RIM announced that its tablet PC BlackBerry PlayBook, which runs on a 1 GHz dual-core processor and sports 1 GB of RAM, will be commercially available from April 19, 2011 in USA and Canada at a price of $499 (Rs 22,455). The 7-inch tablet PC runs on a proprietary OS by RIM and supports Android 2.3 apps and Java apps.

Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion said, “The upcoming addition of BlackBerry Java and Android apps for the BlackBerry PlayBook on BlackBerry App World will provide our users with an even greater choice of apps and will also showcase the versatility of the platform.”

RIM plans to launch two App Markets so users can run the 25,000 BlackBerry Java apps and 200,000 Android apps that can be downloaded off the App World.
