Bose Introduces Noise Cancellation For Cars

Bose has been in the forefront of noise cancellation technology for a long time now and it seems the company is making strides into in- car noise cancellation as well. This technology will keep the sound of the car engine and other peripheral sound away from the passengers sitting inside. While some of might love the growling engine and exhaust of our cars, some do prefer a quieter journey, specially for long distances.

The new technology is called QuietComfort Road Noise Control. Bose is known worldwide for their excellent noise cancellation headphones also, aptly named QuietComfort series. This technology uses your vehicle’s audio system, accelerometers, microphones, and Bose’s own signal-processing software. While cars, up until now provided noise reduction, by increasing the insulation and use of specialised tires, the QuietComfort Road Noise Control works differently.

How It Works

Bose headphones continuously measure, compare, and react to outside noise, then cancel it with the opposite signal. The car’s noise cancellation system works in a similar fashion. It uses an algorithm that counteracts noise produced by the body of the car with equal and opposing sound waves. These sound waves are transmitted through the car’s speakers. The technology also makes use of small microphones inside the cabin to generate the precise noise reduction signal that is required.

This technology will provide a quieter in- car environment. This will allow the passengers and the driver a chance to enjoy their music, calls or conversation without any disturbance. This technology is aimed towards the future, according to Bose, because it will substantially reduce noticeable road noise from electric propulsion and lighter cars. The technology will theoretically also help the car become lighter because noise insulation will not be required in cars anymore.

Bose has been pioneering the noise reduction technology and has several patents to its name. It will be interesting to see how the company changes in- car noise reduction as we know it.

Bose Announces The World’s First Audio-Based Bose AR Glasses

Virtual and Augmented Reality are expected to be the next big thing in the tech industry. In fact, over the past few years, the technology has grown tenfolds. Using these technologies, companies are coming up with products, which completely change the way we interact with our surroundings.

Bose, a well-known audio technology company, has announced a new platform called Bose AR. The idea is to focus on what you hear, rather than what you see. This is similar to Intel’s smart glasses. However, unlike Intel’s visual-based AR, Bose uses sound as the AR element.

What is Bose AR?

Most of the AR-based platform is built on visual elements. However, the Bose AR is a platform which uses sound as the AR medium. Bose demonstrated this platform on a pair of sunglasses. In fact, the Bose AR technology can be implemented into headphones, eyeglasses and helmets with ease.

The company tells that, the glasses will be useful for people who travel a lot. The technology can provide proper information on a place like the Eiffel Tower or a crowded market in London. The Bose AR SDK is now available for the developers. Similarly, the company has fixed a grant of US$ 50 Millions for start-ups.

The SoundLink Micro weighs in at 290 grams and is also IPX7 rated for water resistance. and weighs just 290 grams. The SoundLink Micro has a custom transducer and miniature dual-passive radiators. Bose claims that the speaker is capable of delivering much more powerful sound than what you would expect from a system of this size.

The company also claims that the speaker has a battery life of 6 hours. Since the speaker is of a small size, there is an option of connecting two such speakers via the Bose SoundLink application. In the “Party Mode,” multiple SoundLink Micros or other SoundLink speakers via the Bose SoundLink application.

Bose QC 35 II Launched In India

Bose has launched a new iteration of its highly acclaimed QC 35 noise canceling headphones, the QC 35 II in India. Priced at Rs 29,363 the Bose QC 35 II will be sold at Bose retail stores, Boseindia.com and Amazon.

The Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II have a battery life of up to 20 hours. Just like the QC 35, the same controls remain on the right ear-cup, audio volume, and the multi-function button for incoming calls and accessing Siri. And now, there’s a new Action Button on the left earcup to connect to your Google Assistant without having to grab your phone, unlock it, and find the app.

Like its predecessor, the QC35 II’s noise cancellation is fully activated when the headphone is on, but, the Bose Connect App now lets you choose to keep it on (high), turn it down (low), or disable it completely (off). The Connect App also lets you change the Action Button’s functionality, so you can control the noise settings from the ear-cup when you want, and switchback to your Google Assistant when you want.

Bose Announces New SoundTouch Wireless Music Systems

Bose has announced its newest range of next-generation SoundTouch wireless music systems with built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The systems cater to the growing trend of music streaming around the world and the company wants to make music streaming at home easier than ever before.

The Bluetooth feature allows you stream any song, playlist, music service and YouTube directly from your Bluetooth-enabled phone or tablet. You can also broadcast your songs to as many SoundTouch speakers as you have via Wi-Fi, or you can use the SoundTouch app to explore a whole variety of options from integrated music services and setting presets to enjoying different music in different rooms. Indeed, the SoundTouch’s big selling point is its presets. Atop each SoundTouch speaker are six numbered buttons.
