Available in a bunch of colours, the new Note 5 features rounded edges.  While the back of the smartphone is a glossy finish, the edges feature a matte metal alloy/aluminium finish.  Much like the previous iteration, the camera on the back is slightly protruding and is paired with the LED flash and a heart rate sensor.

Exclusive Hands On: Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Samsung’s latest flagship and its edgier brother have made it into our hands and that too before the main global launch event.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs S5 Back
Samsung Galaxy S5 and S6 Back

The Samsung Galaxy S6, just like the rumors, holds a new design language. Which unmistakably is inspired and looks almost identical to the Apple iPhone lineage, all glass front and back, infused onto a stainless steel bezel. Samsung may have finally grown up.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Dual Edge
S6 Edge

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is also a step in the right direction, while the device has dual edges the display’s continuity is not broken, as in the case of the Galaxy Note Edge, and the edge is mostly for aesthetic appeal.

Samsung has included quick charging and wireless charging capabilities in the new S6 and the S6 Edge, details of which should be available shortly.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Wireless charging
Galaxy S6 Edge and Wireless Chargers

Spec wise Samsung has these bad boys fully loaded up with this years hardware, an all new Exynos Octa Core 2.1 GHz chipset along with 3 GB LPDDR4 RAM, the phone just like iPhone will be available in fixed storage sizes, however starting from 32 GB, a 64 GB variant and a 128 GB all based on UFS 2.0 (Universal Flash Storage). And yes, just like iPhones the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge will not have micro SD expandability.

New Bumper Case
New Bumper Case

Connectivity is pretty top notch LTE Cat 6, Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and globally unlocked variants will work on TDD and FDD  LTE bands so networks should not be a problem for Samsung this time around.

Samsung Galaxy S6 front back gold
5.1 inch QuadHD Display

The Display is a all new 5.1 inch Super Amoled screen with a QuadHD resolution giving it a total 577 ppi of eye burning sharpness. The Galaxy S6 Edge on the other hand has a much more snappier Exynos Octa Core with 2.5 GHz and a slightly better 2600 mAh battery vs the 2550 mAh on the Galaxy S6 (non-edge.)

The pricing remains a question (which will be answered shortly), however it is rumored that the Galaxy S6 Edge will cost more than the Note Edge did at launch.

Exclusive : Micromax to launch a 6 inch Windows Phone Soon!

In our recent interview with Shubhodip Pal, CMO of Micromax, we learnt that the company is not making Windows Phone handsets as a one off, and we will see a Windows Phone flagship with a 6 inch display in the coming weeks.
Put it on Record! We will have a 6 inch Windows Phone in the coming months and will many more phones that you will hear about soon.
The company is ready to show a new product that will run on high end chipsets like Snapdragon 800 will have impressive camera sensors and displays and will also have impressive battery life, said Shubhodip in conversation with iGyaan.

We have heard rumours of a Rs. 25000 phone which houses all the aforesaid specifications, including a 2500 mAh battery along with a 16 MP + 8MP camera combination and 2 GB of RAM, all of which would make it a beast on the Windows Phone device sheet.

Micromax plans to have this device out to the consumer as early as August, with a new lineup of products that are said to compete with the “Flagships of the world”, i.e. HTC One M8 and Galaxy S5 by the end of this year. But Shubhodip claims that, it will only happen once they have delivered their “Promise” on service issues starting next month.

The back of the HTC One Max has a new set of features, including a new Ultrapixel camera which retains the 4 Megapixel 1/3″ sensor but adds a lager 2 micron pixel size. The HTC One Max comes with Android 4.3 and HTC Sense 5.5 which adds a flurry of new features to the HTC One Max’s interface, including a newly revamped BlinkFeed which allows subscription to custom topics and websites. Here is another exciting thing, iGyaan is also planning a few giveaways post the iPhone launch in India, so you can stay tuned for the days ahead.

The iPhone 5s and 5c were announced in September at an event held at Cupertino in the United States. The iPhone 5s is the first phone to integrate a 64bit chipset and a TouchID fingerprint Sensor.

• Apple to launch the iPhone 5S and 5C in India by Oct 20th

Apple to launch the iPhone 5S and 5C in India by Oct 20th

Apple yesterday announced the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, two new iPhones that are set to replace and enhance the experience you get from the current generation iPhone 5.

In the US and several other countries the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C will go on sale starting September 20th 2013, however no concrete information was available on their launch dates in India.

Apple sources close to iGyaan have let us know that Apple India is planning to bring the new iPhone 5C and the 5S to India as early as Oct 20th. The iPhone 5C which will be a replacement of the iPhone 5 will actually cost as much as the iPhone 5 does today, Rs. 44500 for 16GB. This is thanks to the inflated costs of Dollar vs Indian Rupee. The iPhone 5s however will launch for upwards of Rs. 50,000 for the 16GB variant making the 64 GB iPhone 5s the most expensive smartphone till date in India, since it will cross the Rs. 65,000 barrier.

Apple saw a 400% growth in the past year in India, and it thanks quick availability and easy payment schemes for it. Last year Apple was able to sell out its initial stock of 20,000 iPhone 5 units in one day, this year the company plans to bring in over 100,000 units at the time of launch, this number will include a variation of iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S in all colors.

India as a market has shown some real potential, and Apple wishes to remain at the forefront of technology. We have been planning the launch for over a month prior to the announcement yesterday, and it should happen in Oct, if the Cupertino office is in line with our Ideas.

Many claim that Apple may not have the same impact in the market with the iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S as they did with the iPhone 5, because of the lack of innovation in these new products.

Apple is hoping that the new Touch ID security features will enable a lot of business folks, who prefer Samsung phones/ Blackberry devices, to easily pick the iPhone 5S thanks to the rock solid security.

Exclusive: Canvas Doodle 2 Leaked Images and Specs

Micromax is planning to launch a couple of phones in the coming months and the first in this list will be the Micromax Canvas Doodle 2, the phone will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. The device is expected to sport a 12 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Other specifications my include are a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, Dual-SIM support and the gestures software seen on the Micromax Canvas 4. The device is likely to be juiced by a 2,600mAh battery and run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. This device will compete with rivals like Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Grand Series. Preview a couple of the images of the upcoming device below and wait for a featured Hands On.

Micromax-Canvas-Doodle-2-Leaked-2

Micromax had recently launched the Micromax Canvas 4 A210 and this will be the second iteration of Micromax’s high build quality phones. The company is planning to demonstrate better builds with their latest handsets, but the inclusion of merely a MT6589 vs MT6589T that the competition is using may turn out to be a disadvantage for the company. The Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 may be dubbed as the A240 and will feature a HD 5.7 inch display. If the company does end up using the MT6589T chipset they might actually bump the screen resolution to 1920 x 1080 px as seen in the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1. The top flap of the phone around the camera will open up to make space for the two sim cards. It is also expected that the phone may not have expandable storage.

Update: It appears the above images are of the MyPhone Iceberg (A Philippines based brand), the same phone is going to be the Canvas Doodle 2.

Exclusive : Samsung I8552 Galaxy Grand Quattro / Galaxy Win Unboxing and Hands on

Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Grand Quattro also known as the Galaxy Win in other markets. This smart phone is a retake on the Galaxy Grand adding a few things and removing a few.

Galaxy Grand Quattro : Win 3

The packaging is minimal suggesting towards the lower end spectrum for Samsung but also infusing their new less paper (eco-friendly) model they suggested during the launch of the Galaxy S4. Listed below are the box contents:

• Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro / Win Handset
• 2000 mAh Battery
• USB charging cable
• USB wall adapter
• Documentation
• In-ear earphones with additional tips.

Galaxy Grand Quattro : Win 0

Hardware

There are a bunch of differences in the Galaxy Grand Quattro, starting with a smaller 4.7 inch 480 x 800 px display, which bumps up the ppi to 199 ppi. The chipset on the inside is now a Qualcomm MSM8625Q Snapdragon 200 quad-core 1.2 GHz chipset, along with an Adreno 203 GPU.

The rear camera and the front camera have also been downgraded to 5 MP and VGA from 8MP and 2.1 MP respectively. Inside however we still have 8GB of storage (5GB + is available to the user) and 1 GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro I8552 Initial impressions

The build quality is along the lines of the Galaxy Grand, composed of 100% plastic build including the back panel and the bezel. The Galaxy Grand Quattro has a significantly smaller footprint thanks to the smaller screen size. The phone also weighs less and fits comfortably in the hand of the user.

The interface reminds us of many of the recent Samsung launches all showing of similar Touch-Wiz and Android 4.1.2 functionality. The Galaxy Grand Quattro / Win however, does not carry the smart features seen on the Galaxy Grand, No Multi Window toolbar, no S-Voice and No Pop-Up-Play. Which could nullify the proposition for a lot of buyers. The Smaller screen is definitely more crisp and is evident in the first impression. Video playback is smooth even though we felt a bit of lag in the Internet browser.

Galaxy Grand Quattro : Win 8

The keyboard is as fast as ever and retains the continuos input option, along with all of the Samsung customizations for its keyboard. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro / Win is a promising upgrade to the Galaxy Grand, it removes a lot of software and hardware features, but, does two interesting things, Adds a quad-core Processor and drops the price by about Rs. 2500 or US $ 50.

HTC Desire SV Initial Impressions

The phone resembles the build and design of the One series, with along with the same speaker grills and Beats Audio. The orange color looks bright and nice, however it does not appear to be for everyone. The phone is sleek and the display vivid, the OS seems responsive on the demo unit we handled. You can expect a hands on in a few hours video along with an Unboxing and Review Video in the coming days.

The bigger screen definitely helps the overall look of the phone, adding a full glass front with a tiny display bezel boosts that. The Phone also builds on the Amazing Camera and Authentic Sound with an 8 Megapixel f2.2 camera which has “impressive low light performance”, the Beats audio “ensures the amazing sound” as claims HTC.
