Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 Said To Feature 45W Fast Charging And 5G Networking

Xiaomi is one of the most renowned smartphone companies in the world. It is recognized for its diverse offerings in the affordable ranges with relatively low priced premium devices as well. The Mi Mix series is one such great examples of lucratively priced smartphones which offer industry-leading specifications. Now, a fresh report has pointed at the possibility of the Mi Mix 4 featuring 45W fast charging and 5G networking capabilities.

The China Compulsory Certificate (CCC) had been issued by the China National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) for an upcoming 5G Xiaomi smartphone. The yet unknown device bears the model number “M1908F1XE” according to the certification which also divulges a bit of information.

Furthermore, the listings portray Xiaomi planning on upgrading its current fast-charging solutions for its flagship range smartphones. Currently, smartphone-like Mi 9 and Redmi K20 Pro have the highest charging rates at 27W. The company is reportedly aiming at bumping the number to 45W with its latest generation of smartphones.

The higher charging technology brings Xiaomi a step closer to the incredibly fast 100W SuperCharge technology; it was first teased by the company via a video earlier this year on Weibo. In the video, Xiaomi fully charged a 4,000mAh battery using its 100W fast charge in about 17 minutes. Hence, even if the 45W isn’t as impressive would still yield a noticeable improvement over the preceding fast-charging solutions.

It is not confirmed that the certified device is Mi Mix 4 as no official announcements have been made. However, going by past releases and update cycle, only the Mi Mix series is in line for a new launch. It is unlikely if Xiaomi unveils an entirely new range just for a new charging technology improvement. Additionally, since the Mi Mix 3 offered Snapdragon 855, the Mi Mix 4 will probably sport the Snapdragon 855+, the latest iteration. More information should arrive soon, stay tuned for updates.

With the constantly increasing battery sizes in smartphones, the subsequent demand for a quick charging technology has increased. As a result, many major OEMs have incorporated some sort of fast charging in their devices. Vivo announced its 120W fast charging technology via a poster shared on Weibo. The company claims that it will allow charging a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100 in around 13 minutes. For the battery to hit fifty percent capacity, the company claims it takes a 5-minute charge. This is faster than the 100W charging technology Xiaomi showcased a while ago; which allowed for a battery of same capacity to be fully charged in 17 minutes. Vivo has given its proprietary technology a name of FlashCharge 120W. The technology is expected to be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai; which is scheduled to take place from June 26 to June 28 at the Shangai New International Expo Center. The post by Vivo also insinuates that the company may also be planning to showcase its first 5G smartphone at the event.

While the prospect of a super quick charging technology in smartphones seems exciting; it has been revealed that the Vivo FlashCharge 120W is still in development. The company may have to wait until later this year or early next year to launch a commercial device with the charging technology. It is also not known what Vivo has done to keep the heating that is akin to fast charging tech, at bay in its FlashCharge 120W technology. Unfortunately, details about it are not known at the moment but are expected to be revealed as we move closer to the event scheduled for next week.

The number, with the picture provided, seems to hint at a new fast-charging tech making an appearance on the upcoming Samsung flagship.

Other rumours and interpretations of the cryptic message have pointed at a variant of the Galaxy Note 10 being powered by a 4500mAh battery.
