    Design & Display:

The Samsung Galaxy A7 has a 2.5D glass back and metal body. This makes the device look and feel premium. The rounded edges of the Galaxy A7 make it easy to hold and it is also pretty light. The back sports the triple camera setup, which is the highlight of the device. Another new design aspect is the side mounted fingerprint sensor which doubles up as the power button.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 has a 6  inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The display has a native resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. The display has an ‘always on’ feature, which shows the time and  important notifications at all times. The quality of the display is top notch and it has great viewing angles as well.

The positioning of the fingerprint scanner on the power button is surely convenient. The scanner is located at a position which your finger would take naturally, while holding the device. The fingerprint scanner is very responsive and helps to gain access into the device quickly. The device also has Face Recognition which is also extremely responsive.

    Side-mounted fingerprint sensor

The device has Dolby ATMOS technology which gives a good sound output and also has a 3.4 mm headphone jack. One can also swipe either up or down to access the apps and swiping up from the bottom of the screen gives access to Samsung Pay Mini.

    Camera:

The highlight of the device is the Triple Camera Setup which is surely worth the hype. The vertical camera setup includes a 24 MP f/1.7 sensor, a  5 MP f/2.2 sensor and a 8 MP f/2.4 sensor. The 5 MP sensor is for Bokeh while the 8 MP sensor is an Ultra Wide lens.

The Ultra Wide lens is very useful in day to day situations. You can capture the entire scene without having to step back or kneel down. Samsung claims that the lens can see as wide as the human eye and the lens works in both video and photo mode.

The Galaxy A7 also uses the Super Pixel technology to combine 4 pixels into 1, offering superior low light performance. The device also has a Live Focus feature which lets you set the background blur while clicking the picture and also to change it, after the image has been captured. Another interesting feature is the portrait Dolly mode. This lets you create a dolly zoom effect which can be saved as either a GIF or  video.

It also has slow motion video and hyper lapse capability, which is pretty good. The device also detects 19 scenes such as food, flower, street, etc to optimise the colour settings and provide a better output. You can also create a closed group and share your images over WiFi. The Social Camera option on the device lets you share the images instantly on FaceBook, WhatsApp and FB Messenger.

The Front Camera of the device houses a 24 MP sensor. It has a ‘wide selfie’ feature which lets you pan left and right to capture the entire scene. It also has features such as selfie focus and pro lighting modes to help enhance your selfies.

    AR Emoji:

The AR Emoji feature is available on both the rear and the front camera of the device. This feature lets you create customisable Emojis on the basis of face, skin, hair, features, clothes, etc. With this, you can then turn your selfie or image into an emoji.

    Under The Hood:

The Samsung Galaxy A7 runs on the Samsung Exynos 7885 SoC. This has a 2.2 GHz Octa Core processor and has 4GB and 6 GB RAM options. The device runs on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. It has memory options of 64 GB and 128 GB and is expandable upto 512 GB using a microSD card. The device also has a dedicated microSD card slot. The Galaxy A7 has a 3300 mAh battery.

    Specifications:

The highlight of the device is the triple camera arrangement on the back. The setup consists of 24 MP primary lens, an 8 MP ultra wide lens and a 5 MP depth sensor. The device also has a Live Focus feature which lets you to adjust the bokeh effect. The device also combines four pixels into one to let more light in and give better images.

The Galaxy A7 has a 6 inch Super AMOLED display. It has a native resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. The device is supported by Dolby Atmos sound technology for a better audio output. Another striking feature on the device is the fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner is mounted on to the side of the device to offer a more comfortable unlocking position, according to the company.

The device also comes loaded with some Samsung exclusive features such as Bixby, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health. It is available in blue, black, pink and gold colours. The recent report about the lineup change in the Galaxy A and J series is turning out to be true and Samsung is trying to offer a better experience at different price ranges.

The device is set to lunch during the Samsung Galaxy event on 11th October. The event is also rumoured to showcase the first quad camera smartphone by Samsung. The launch of the Galaxy A7 shows that Samsung is no longer reserving features like a triple camera for its flagship devices. More details like availability and pricing will be known after the event.

  • Samsung Galaxy A7 Leaked: 3 Cameras, Side Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

Samsung Galaxy A7 Leaked: 3 Cameras, Side Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

Images and renders of the alleged Samsung Galaxy A7 have been leaked, giving us a glimpse at the triple camera setup. If the reports are right, this will be the first triple camera smartphone by Samsung, not the flagship Galaxy S10. Along with this, there are reports of the Galaxy A9 Star Pro with four rear cameras. These devices are expected to launch at Samsung’s special Galaxy event on 11th October.

The leaked image shows off a vertical triple camera setup with a flash module below in the Galaxy A7. The Galaxy A7 is expected to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 or Snapdragon 660. Some reports also suggest that the device could be powered by the Exynos 7885 processor. It is also rumoured to have a 4 GB RAM variant for some markets, including India.

Also Read: Samsung To Launch Galaxy A9 Pro With Snapdragon 710

Another striking feature, is the presence of the side mounted fingerprint scanner. Leaks also suggest that the device will have water proof and dust proof certification.

    Galaxy A9 Star Pro:

Multiple reports suggest that a Samsung device with a four rear camera setup has been spotted. The cameras are allegedly stacked vertically. However, this seems to be a highly unlikely  design choice by Samsung. This array will be placed on the left top corner of the device and the centre will house the fingerprint scanner, according to the report. The device is also expected to feature a dedicated Bixby button along with a headphone jack.

If the devices actually sport these features, it means that Samsung would not be reserving its best features for its flagship devices. The recent report that Samsung might be changing its lineup to better suit the needs of the market might be true.

  • Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Will be Launched As Galaxy A8+

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Will be Launched As Galaxy A8+

The Samsung Galaxy S9 will not be the only Samsung phone with an infinity display to be launched in early-2018. Numerous reports have claimed that Samsung’s Galaxy A series will also get the infinity display in 2018 and a new leaked image appears to reiterate that.

The images show that the upcoming Galaxy A8+ will indeed have an infinity display although, the top and bottom bezels are prominent and is by no means even close to what the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note8 looked like. The details given on the website reveal that the smartphone has the model number SM-730.

Earlier reports have suggested that Galaxy A7 (2018) or the Galaxy A8+ will have a 5.7-inch 2160 x 1080 px AMOLED display.

Under the hood, depending on the market, the device will either have the Exynos 7885 or Snapdragon 630. The device is also expected to have two variants, one with 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage and the other 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage.

Galaxy A8+ is expected to have a 16MP main rear camera and a 16MP front-facing camera.

It is also expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with an update to Android 8.0 Oreo scheduled for some time later in 2018.

  • Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 2016 Review – Steer Clear

Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 2016 Review – Steer Clear

Earlier this month, Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy A5 and A7 devices at the Samsung Forum. The mid-range devices come with updated specifications and features including OIS and a fingerprint sensor. The 5.2-inch A5 is priced at Rs 29,400 while the 5.5-inch A7 come with a price tag of Rs 33, 400.

The updated A-series take the S6 glass and metal design language forward this year and introduces them in the Galaxy A7 and A5. The A7 sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED FHD screen with 1920 x 1080p resolution and a 1.6 GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage and 3,300mAh Fast Charging battery.

On the camera front, the A7 features a 13MP primary camera with f/1.9 aperture and OIS. The front camera also features a f/1.9 aperture.

The A5 upgrades to 5.2-inch AMOLED FHD screen with 1080p resolution. 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, octa-core processor and bumps the battery to 2,900mAh as well. A5 packs a 13MP primary camera with OIS and a 5MP front camera.

    Galaxy A5 1
    Galaxy A5 (2016)

The highlight of the devices is its new design language that borrows the glass and metal combination seen in last year’s Galaxy S6 flagship. The devices look and feel premium and great in the hand. Both the devices also come with fast charging capabilities, and you’ll get around 3-4 hours in 15 minutes if charge.

The UI of the devices is quick and snappy with little bloatware. All stock Samsung features are available including Flipboard and there’s isn’t anything new to be found here. The only downside here is the pricing of the devices which is now close to the Galaxy S6 flagship, especially the A7. This may lose a lot of potential buyers as those willing to shell out the amount would rather go with the S6 rather than the A7 given a faster processor, fantastic camera and other flagship specs in the former.

    Samsung Galaxy A5(2016): Hands On

Samsung today unveiled the refreshed models of the budget, Galaxy A5 and A7 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Galaxy A5 2016 model is priced at Rs 29,400 in India, and will be available through Samsung’s e-retail partner, Snapdeal, and other offline retailers.

The refreshed A5 features the glass and metal design found on the Samsung Galaxy S6. The A5 (2016) model also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner. The phone will be available in three color variants gold, black and white. The A5 in terms of design, just like the A7 (click here for A7’s hands on), does look and feel extremely premium.

    Galaxy A5 2

The Galaxy A5 (2016) comes packing a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED display with full HD resolution. It is powered by an Octa-Core processor clocked at 1.6GHz paired with 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The memory on board is 16 GB which is expandable to 128 GB using a MicroSD card. 4G and Dual – SIM connectivity.

The phone has a 2900 mAh battery. This is a significant bump up from the last generation A5 which came packing only a 2300 mAh pack. To add to this, the A5(2016) also features Fast Charging which is sure to bring smiles on a lot of faces reading this hands on.

    Galaxy A5 and A7

The A5 (2016) offers a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. Both the front and rear cameras of the phone come with a f1.9 aperture. The rear camera on the back of the refreshed Galaxy A5 also has an Optical Image Stabilisation feature.

    Galaxy A5 1

The phone overall is nice. The refreshed A5(2016) does not come with great under the hood specifications. For the price it’s being sold at the return feels inadequate. Full HD display and 2 GB RAM without the capability of capturing 4k Video that even the Rs 10,999 Le 1s comes equipped with only shows the disparity between options in the market and what Samsung is offering here.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Samsung’s Galaxy A5(2016) is still stuck on 5.1.1 and does not come with Android Marshmallow out of the box. But for all its shortcomings what does work in the handset’s favour is the fact that it feels extremely premium when it comes to looks which might help buyers gloss over the hefty price tag that Samsung plans to sell this handset at.

Yesterday, Samsung Forum 2015 kicked off in Bangkok Thailand, and the company took the opportunity to announce a couple of devices. One of them was the new Galaxy A7, the slimmest Galaxy smartphone yet, measuring only 6.3 mm. They claimed that the phone has been packaged with premium hardware for a superior social experience. We decided to check the smartphone out for ourselves. Here are our first impressions:

Galaxy A7 vies to expand the services provided by Galaxy A5 and A3. The A7 is exactly like the big brother of the A5. Except that they’ve upped the notch on specifications, the look and feel of the two devices is exactly the same. The use of metal gives this device an extremely premium feel. The device will be appreciated for its classy design.

On the front bottom, below the screen of the device, there are the touch capacitive buttons, and in the centre is the Samsung’s typical oval style Home Button. At the bottom we have the main USB slot/Data synching port and 3.5 mm jack.

The metal handset is equipped with a 5.5 inch, Full HD Super AMOLED display, which is a step ahead of the A5. This one delivers an excellent viewing experience. With the bigger screen and good display, watching videos and browsing the internet was a breeze.

The company has also added Adaptive Display Technology which intelligently optimizes the screen brightness and the color saturation.

Coming to the camera of the device, it is equipped with a 13 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front camera, along with Advanced Selfie features like Ultra Wide Shot, GIF shooting modes and Auto Selfie modes (Palm and Voice Selfie.) We checked out the camera, and it served the purpose well.

It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes packed with 2GB of RAM. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-core processor which allows users to easily perform data intensive tasks. On the first go, the UI seemed really fast and responsive.

All in all, with its nice accents of metal, the big brother of A5 is a good addition to Samsung’s portfolio. Priced at Rs. 30,499, it may appear to be expensive but is unique in its own way!

Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Metal Body Galaxy A7 Goes Official

After months of speculations and rumours, Samsung has finally unveiled the much-awaited Galaxy A7 in Philippines. The metal-clad smartphone with optional dual-SIM functionality will be available at the end of Q1 this year in two different chipset configurations.

The slimmest Samsung smartphone yet, Galaxy A7 measures 6.3 mm in thickness and sports the same metallic uni-body design we see in the flagship Alpha series. The smartphone flaunts a 5.5 inch AMOLED display and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS skinned under Samsung’s own Touchwiz UI.

    samsung-a7

The Galaxy A7 comes with 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC or a 32-bit Exynos 5430 with both chipsets featuring octa-core CPU. Both versions of the smartphone will offer 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory. A microSD card slot for further expansion will also be available.

On the imaging side, the slim smartphone sports a 13MP main camera and 5MP front-facing unit with several Samsung customizations. It includes several selfie features, including Wide Selfie and Rear-cam Selfie. A 2,600mAh battery powers the device.

Considering it is the slimmest phone by Samsung sporting a metallic design, it is quite likely the handset will do good in the market. While some folks would prefer a higher-resolution display, the rest of the A7’s spec list looks good for an upper mid-range/lower high-end Android smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A7 will be available in dark blue, white, and gold color schemes. The Korean giant promises a “competitive price point” for the device. While we have no official date or price, the Samsung Galaxy A7 should be available at the end of Q1 2015 for an expected price of Rs. 35,000.

  • Samsung is Reportedly Working on a Brand New Smartphone Lineup

Samsung is Reportedly Working on a Brand New Smartphone Lineup

Samsung is heading towards a better future; at least, that’s what it is trying to do. With the recent market loss and bad financial earnings, the company needs to make some changes to its smartphone lineup. Recent reports have suggested that the company is finally listening to the consumers and mending their ways.

The South Korea-based electronic giant has recently launched a couple of premium metal smartphones, the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5, and is expected to design the Galaxy S6 — aka Project Zero — from scratch. Furthermore, SamMobile has learned that Samsung is also working on a new series of smartphones.

According to the report, Samsung might finally ditch the silly naming conventions by launching the new series of smartphones. A source from SamMobile said, “Samsung will soon come up with a new smartphone range with single letter naming convention, similar to that of the Galaxy A series.”

However, the source didn’t share what the new family will be called. Thus, you can say a goodbye to silly handset names like the once-glorious Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. Other details about this Samsung smartphone family are still under wraps, so it’s unclear what they’ll have to offer in terms of specs or design.

Samsung Galaxy A Series Expected Arrive in Early November

Samsung’s Galaxy A series has been in rumors since the past few months, but with the revelations made by a Tech journal, Korea IT Times, it is now clear that Samsung is all set to launch the new A series smartphones as early as next month. The new handsets that are said to be the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 are expected to come with a premium metallic material, just like Galaxy Alpha. According to the report submitted by Korea IT Times, the smartphones will be launched in China first, followed by selected markets, and will be available shortly after the launch.

It is said that the new Galaxy A series is directly targeted at Xiaomi, which was recently designated as the third-largest smartphone maker in the world by IDC. While Xiaomi is only catering to selected Asian countries, it has swelled its shipment three times since last year, only lagging behind Samsung and Apple.
