  • Nokia 5.1 Plus Has A Wide Notch And A Thick Chin

Nokia 5.1 Plus Has A Wide Notch And A Thick Chin

HMD Global has launched a few interesting smartphones in 2018 so far. The Nokia 7 Plus is one of the best in its price segment in India and the Nokia X6 has been a huge hit in China. The Nokia 8 Sirocco looks classy and the upcoming Nokia 5.1 Plus would want to take things up a notch (pun definitely intended). The new renders of soon to be launched Nokia 5.1 Plus are out and it looks eerily similar to many Android smartphones of 2018.

Popular smartphone leaker Steve H. posted 360º renders of the yet unannounced Nokia 5.1 Plus. The renders give us a detailed look at what the smartphone could look like. Unlike the Nokia X6, the company has not shied away from flaunting the notch. The Nokia X6 had a narrow notch like the OnePlus 6. The Nokia 5.1 Plus, on the other hand, will have a wide notch like the iPhone X or Mi 8.

The one thing that does differentiate the design of Nokia 5.1 Plus from the iPhone X is the chin. As expected, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will sport a chin, just like every other notched Android smartphone. However, unlike the Huawei P20 Pro, the chin won’t be utilised for a front-facing fingerprint sensor. Instead, it will house the Nokia branding which is slightly disappointing.

The back of the smartphone houses a dual-camera setup in typical Nokia fashion. The fingerprint sensor has a central location just below the camera module. The smartphone has a metallic unibody build quality which a lot of people would appreciate over an all-glass build. The Nokia 5.1 Plus looks like a crossover of the Nokia 5.1  and Nokia X6.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus is another Android smartphone that has embraced the notch but, also retained the chin. It appears that Apple would be the only smartphone maker in 2018 to launch a device with a notch and remove the chin as well (like it did with the iPhone X). There are no details about the launch of the Nokia 5.1 Plus as of now in China or globally. We will keep you posted with all the details if and when they are revealed.

  • Nokia X To Launch On May 16th With Display Notch

Nokia X To Launch On May 16th With Display Notch

HMD Global has launched a few impressive smartphones in 2018. The Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, in particular, have great design and look a lot like a modern-day smartphone. With its new smartphone, however, the company will jump aboard a new hype train. The Nokia X will be the company’s new budget offering with a notch. Two new promotional posters from HMD Global and Chinese retailer Suning reveal a few details about the upcoming smartphone.

The first poster, from HMD Global, reveals that the Nokia X will launch on May 16th at Sanlitun in Beijing. It also appears that the supply/air drops pictured on the HMD poster are a homage to games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds. This means that the upcoming device will have a few gaming features.

The poster from Suning reveals the Nokia X in all its glory. The images of the smartphone on the poster corroborate with previous leaks, revealing a notch on the display and a vertically placed dual-camera setup on the back. The notch has become incredibly common these days to a point that you can barely make out the differences between many phones. The Nokia X, for example, looks a lot like the Huawei P20 Lite from the front.

The Nokia X will sport a 5.8 inch IPS LCD display with a 2280 x 1080 px resolution. This translates into a 19:9 aspect ratio, the same as the P20 Lite.

The vertically placed dual-camera setup is in the usual Nokia position but, the “Carl Zeiss” branding is missing. This means that the Nokia X will cost somewhere between the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 2018. There are rumours that the device will have two variants, one running on the Snapdragon 636 with 6GB of RAM and the other with the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM.

The smartphone will also have a glass build, something that a lot of mid-range smartphones sport nowadays. The Moto X4 and P20 Lite being the latest examples. The launch of the Nokia X is scheduled for May 16th, the same day as the global launch of the OnePlus 6. Fair to say that the month of May is turning out to be an eventful one for the smartphone industry.

In fact, it measures 7.5 mm at its thickest point and 2 mm at it thinnest. This is the first Nokia Android smartphone to support wireless charging.

  • Nokia 4 Specifications Leaked Ahead Of Imminent MWC 2018 Launch

Nokia 4 Specifications Leaked Ahead Of Imminent MWC 2018 Launch

A new Nokia smartphone from HMD Global is all set to debut on MWC 2018. This time its Nokia 4, which is likely to replace the Nokia 3. A new report claims that the Nokia 4 will have a badge on the back with a model number TA-1032.

HMD Global didn’t launch either Nokia 3 or the Nokia 5 in China. Which means, there is a great chance that the company might not launch Nokia 4 in China as well. It also comes with a tag Made in India, which means that the Nokia 4 might have a very competitive price tag in India.

The Nokia 3 was one of the affordable Android smartphones from Nokia, based on a MediaTek processor. Like a lot of affordable phones from Nokia, the Nokia 3 was also overpriced. Hence, it could not really have an impact on the Indian market. With a newer processor, the company might be planning to get back the attention of the users. However, the build quality, from the image, still leaves a lot to be desired.

    Specifications:

In terms of specifications, the only known information about the Nokia 4 is the that, the smartphone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core SoC. Considering the specifications of Nokia 3, the device is expected to feature 5.2-inch 720p IPS LCD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass Protection. The Nokia 4 will feature at least 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage like the Nokia 3 with an expandable SD card slot.

There are no details regarding the camera or the battery. In terms of operating system, the smartphone will be based on Android Oreo 8.0 with the stock user experience.

    Conclusion:

The Nokia 4 will be the newest addition to that list of smartphones that Nokia might launch at MWC 2018. It looks like Nokia will launch at least 4 smartphones at MWC. The Nokia 10 with a rotating 5-camera setup, the Nokia 7 Plus with dual Zeiss camera and a most affordable Nokia 1 with entry-level specs.

Nokia 7 To Be Launched On 31st October

HMD Global owned Nokia is planning to launch a new phone in India on 31st of October. The company has sent out press invites which reads, “HMD Global invites you to an exclusive gathering to unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones.” Nokia 7 was launched in China on the 20th of October and could launch the latest smartphone in India.

Considering HMD Global’s competitive pricing of the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 could launch in India under the Rs 25000 price bracket where there isn’t a lot of competition. However, the Moto X4 is expected to be priced in the same price bracket of Rs 22000-Rs 25000.

The Nokia 7 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. Under the hood, the device has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset, octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. Unlike the Nokia 8, and all previous Nokia Android phones, there is no physical home button on the front of the device. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back of the phone just below the camera.

The Nokia 7, unlike the Nokia 8 has a single camera at the back. The Nokia 7 has a 16MP camera at the back with an f/1.8 aperture, 1.12-micron pixel size and Carl Zeiss optics. The primary camera records 3840 x 2160 px (4K) videos at 30fps. On the front of the device is a 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.

Similar to the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 also comes with all the bells and whistles. One such feature is “Bothie.” It allows you to use the front and rear camera at the same time in a split screen view. Another feature that the smartphone boasts is called OZO Audio in which the smartphone’s three microphones and Nokia’s acoustic algorithms allow you to capture 360-degree spatial surround sound. You can also share 4K videos with OZO audio with anyone – binaural codecs ensure high fidelity playback even on devices without OZO Audio.
