  • Apple iPhone SE 2 Renders Leaked Again With iPhone X Style Notch

Apple iPhone SE 2 Renders Leaked Again With iPhone X Style Notch

Apple is expected to launch the Apple iPhone SE 2 before the World Wide Developer’s Conference 2018 kicks off in early-June. The rumours surrounding the iPhone SE 2 have increased in intensity and uniformity. That usually is a sign of a smartphone on the brink of launching. So far, we either seen a radically different design with thin bezels and a notch, or the same iPhone SE design with a glass back for wireless charging.

In new 360º renders leaked on Twitter, the images reveal a new radical design of the iPhone SE 2, more in line with the iPhone X and soon to be launched iPhone 2018 lineup. The smartphone has a notch on the display and very thin bezels all around. If Apple does go ahead with notch, it certain that the iPhone SE 2 will have Face ID and the notch won’t just be there without solving any purpose.

There is no chin on the iPhone SE 2 here, which means no LCD display. Since Apple folds the display from the bottom to get rid of the chin, an OLED panel is necessary for that. If this turns out to be true, the iPhone SE 2 will likely have a better display than the iPhone 8/8Plus which have an LCD panel.

One thing consistent with all iPhone SE 2 renders is the presence of a single camera on the back of the smartphone. Apple will likely use the iPhone 7 sensors for the iPhone SE 2. Under the hood, the iPhone SE 2 is expected to run on the Apple A10 Fusion chipset, the same SoC that powers the iPhone 7/7 Plus and the new entry-level iPad.

We expect the iPhone SE 2 to launch before WWDC 2018 commences in June. This means that the iPhone SE 2 could be launched in May, joining a huge list of other flagship devices launching in this month. India will be one of the first few countries where the Apple iPhone SE 2 goes on sale. It will be manufactured at the Bengaluru plant where the current iPhone SE and iPhone 6s Plus are manufactured.

Apple iPhone SE 2 With An iPhone X Style Display Leaks In Video

After the launch of the iPhone X, there have been plenty of rumours about an iPhone X like iPhone SE 2. The original iPhone SE was launched back in 2016 and the company skipped an incremental update in 2017. However, many reports have claimed that Apple could launch the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018. The reports have been conflicting, though, some claiming that the iPhone SE 2 will have hardware update and retain the design of the original iPhone SE. While some have claimed that it will have a design similar to the iPhone X.

A new video of a possibly fake iPhone SE 2 has surfaced online. The video showcases an iPhone X with a metal frame similar to the iPhone SE. While it might sound very interesting, it is highly unlikely that Apple would take this route. Especially considering that the iPhone SE 2 could be a much more affordable device than the iPhone X.

The size of the device in the video is also suspect. The iPhone SE was intended for people who wanted an iPhone with new hardware and the old small screen design. The leaked device has the same display as the iPhone X which potentially contradicts the reason behind the iPhone SE’s introduction.

Although it’s not the SE 2, the leaked video has given us a glimpse of what the iPhone X could look like with a metal frame instead of a steel one. It is possible that Apple will announce the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018. Or, Apple could host a separate event for the iPhone SE 2. Apple is expected to launch a few upgrades for its MacBook lineup as well. Since WWDC usually focuses on software, its hardware products could be unveiled at an event after WWDC, or before it. However, there has been no confirmation from Apple so far.

  • Apple iPhone SE 2 Is Coming Early 2018, Manufacturing Begins in India

Apple iPhone SE 2 Is Coming Early 2018, Manufacturing Begins in India

Apple has had massive success with its budget iPhone SE, especially in markets like India. The iPhone Se is one of the strongest selling phones, and with massive discounts on online sites like Amazon and Flipkart, the iPhone SE continues to be a good seller. However, Apple has plans the retire the raging iPhone SE and replace it with an aptly named iPhone SE 2. The launch of this new iPhone will also kick off Apple’s India manufacturing at Wistron at full swing. The iPhone SE 2 is rumoured to be completely assembled in India to be supplied to the other parts of the world as well.

Specs wise Apple is said to remove some of the highlight features of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Do not expect the iPhone SE 2 to feature wireless charging, an OLED display, Face ID or even an edge to edge display. However, Apple is expected to use a better resolution display than that on the iPhone SE, along with the A10 Fusion processor, and a bigger 1,700 mAh battery. Apple is also expected to improve capacities to 64 GB and 128 GB variants along with the ability to capture 4K at upto 60fps on the new HEVC formats. Apple is also expected to use 2GB RAM and enable fast charging on the iPhone SE 2, features which are relatively cheap to include and are well appreciated by buyers

The Wistron plant in Bengaluru, which was established early this year, has been producing iPhone SEs for India. But production for the iPhone SE 2 is expected to be ramped up as Apple may supple other regions with the India made units.

Price wise Apple is expected to keep in the Rs. 30,000 (US$ 400-500) region for an iPhone SE 2 outright. The iPhone SE may see a Feb-Mar 2018 launch with availability at the same time. Apple is also expected to launch Product RED versions of the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and the iPhone X early 2018.

Apple Might Launch The iPhone SE 2 In Early-2018

After launching the highly successful iPhone X in September of 2017, the company has already started setting goals for 2018. A new report suggests that the tech giant is planning a mid-cycle iPhone launch and unveil the successor to the iPhone SE, the iPhone SE in the first half of 2018. The iPhone SE 2 will be the mid-range offering from Apple who still prefer the 4-inch display form factor in the age of 5-inch smartphones being called ‘Mini’.

As was with the iPhone SE, the iPhone SE 2 will have a small form factor as compared to modern-day smartphones and sport a 4-inch display. Even though certain reports have suggested that Apple will adopt the iPhone X design across the board for its 2018 marquee smartphones, the iPhone SE 2 will still have large bezels and a home button with Touch ID.

The iPhone SE 2 is expected to have the upgraded Apple A10 Fusion chipset and 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage variants.

Even though entry-level phones have started coming out with dual-cameras (the implementation can be questioned), the iPhone SE 2 will retain the single camera setup from the original iPhone SE.

The Apple iPhone SE is manufactured in India and retails for a price of Rs 21859 for the 32GB storage variant. The iPhone SE 2 will enter the budget segment around the 25-30K price bracket and essentially replace the iPhone SE 2. It will be interesting to see Apple advertises the new iPhone SE 2 as a ‘Made In India’ product and try to appeal the average consumers that won’t usually buy an iPhone because of its higher price tag.

  • Top Smartphones Between Rs 10,000 – Rs 20,000

Top Smartphones Between Rs 10,000 – Rs 20,000

India recently became the second largest smartphone market in the world, only behind China. For years, the mid-range smartphone market has had a plethora of phones offering top of the line performance at an affordable price. 2017 saw dual-camera phones entering the sub-20K segment while other phones continued to deliver the best in class performance with very little compromises. Let’s take a look at the top smartphones between Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 that you can buy right now.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Priced the cheapest in this list, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is by no means the cheapest in terms of specifications and performance. The Redmi Note 4 has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution. Powering the device is a massive 4100 mAh battery and it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Under the hood, the smartphone has a the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which can be expanded via microSD card. It has a rear mounted 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and records 1920 x 1080 px videos at 30fps. The front of the smartphone has a 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture which records 1280 x 720 px videos at 30fps.

    Lenovo K8 Note

Another smartphone with a dual camera setup at the back, the Lenovo K8 Note is priced slightly higher than the Redmi Note 4 and offers stock Android OS and a guaranteed update to Android 8.0 Oreo. The Lenovo K8 Note packs the Helio X23 chipset with a 2.3GHz high-performing deca-core processor and the Mali T-880 MP4 GPU. The device has two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB onboard storage which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card and features USB OTG support for added storage options. The phone features a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 px display with a pixel density of 441ppi and a Corning Gorilla Glass with oleophobic coating for scratch resistance. The smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with turbo charge.

The Lenovo K8 Note has a 13MP Pure cell sensor mated with a 5MP Samsung BSI sensor dual camera setup and dual LED flash at the back. The phone is capable of depth mode effects along with 1920 x 1080 px  Video capture. A 13MP camera with LED flash and an f/2.0 aperture sits on the front of the device above the display.

    Xiaomi Mi A1

Stock Android OS with Xiaomi’s hardware and a confirmed upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo and Android P for Rs 14999. This seemed surreal up until August when Xiaomi launched the Android One Xiaomi Mi A1 in India with a best-in-segment dual-camera setup at the back. The smartphone has a 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 px LTPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection and aluminium unibody build. Powering the device is a 3080 mAh battery and 2A charging through the Type C port. The Mi A1 runs pure Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS. Even though the phone has stock Android OS, Xiaomi has retained a few apps, such as the Mi camera app since the Google app doesn’t support dual-camera functions right now. The phone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, 8x ARM Cortex A53 2.0GHz 64-bit processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD card. Handling the graphics under the hood is the Adreno 505 GPU. The fingerprint sensor sits at the back of the device below the camera. Xiaomi has also included a dedicated headphone amplifier for better music listening experience.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 features dual sensors – 12MP with an f/2.2 aperture (26mm) and 12MP with an f/2.6 aperture (50mm) setup with 1.25-micron pixel size. Out of the two cameras at the back, the primary one is equipped with a telephoto lens and the secondary camera has a wide-angle lens. The telephoto lens allows the user to take bokeh effect shots with blurred background and a 2X optical lossless zoom. For landscape shots, Xiaomi has introduced a wide angle lens while on the front is a 5MP camera.

    Moto G5s Plus

Motorola followed up the highly successful Moto G5 Plus with the Moto G5s Plus. With stock Android OS and dual-cameras at the back, it really is a toss-up between the G5s Plus and the Mi A1. The Moto G5S Plus has a 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 px display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. The device is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with included turbo charge capabilities. The Moto G5S Plus runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with little customisation done by the manufacturer resulting in stock Android OS experience. The smartphone has the Qualcomm 625 chipset, an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz with 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The fingerprint sensor is housed inside the home button which sits below the display.

The Moto G5S Plus features rear-mounted 13MP dual-cameras with an f/2.0 aperture. The dual camera captures Bokeh, and selective focus shots, along with other capabilities of background replacement and exposure management. On the front is a wide angle 8MP camera with a single LED flash and a panoramic mode. The rear cameras capture videos in 4K at 30 FPS and the front camera records videos in 1080P at 30 FPS.  According to Motorola, additional features such as Night Display and Quick Reply enhance the software experience.

    Apple iPhone SE

The Apple iPhone SE was launched in India in March 2016, which should automatically make it a no-go. But, the good thing about an iPhone is the support it gets from Apple. The recently launched iOS 11 was made available to a phone as old as the iPhone 5s, which proves that the software of the iPhone SE will be up-to-date for another 2 years at least. If you miss the good old days of smartphones that were truly usable with one hand, then the iPhone SE is the way to go. The iPhone SE has a 4-inch 1136 x 640 px Retina display. Powering the device is Apple’s A9 chipset which can also be found in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhoen SE has a 12MP rear mounted camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a front facing 1.2MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The rear mounted 12Mp camera is capable of recording 3840 x 2160 px videos at 30fps while the front facing camera records 1920 x 1080 px videos at 30fps.

iPhone 6s will be cheaper than iPhone SE soon

With Apple prepping the launch of the iPhone SE in India on the 8th of April for a whopping Rs. 39000 for the base 16 GB variant. The iPhone 6s which features better specs and a larger screen capable of 3D touch is presently available for as low as Rs. 41000 on online websites, and if you choose one of the credit card deals, you can have one today for approximately Rs. 40000. There is absolutely no need to purchase the hybrid old-new iPhone SE which has some components from the iPhone 5s and many from the iPhone 6s

The iPhone 6s however,  has only one disadvantage for those looking to buy a smaller 4-inch phone, and that is the size of the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 7 launch is slated for September 2016, with anyone holding out for a new phone for all this while the iPhone 7 launch is expected to further lower the price of all phones, including the new iPhone SE.

However, if you cannot wait that long, choose the iPhone 6s over the iPhone SE, in India at least. It offers a lot more bang for its buck.

The phone which features many of the features of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in a smaller size may be just what the company needed. The iPhone SE should provide a huge bump in sales for Apple prior to their iPhone 7 launch later this year.

It is estimated that more than 50% of these pre-orders will end up in the black market.

The iPhone SE costs US $ 505 in China which is roughly Rs. 33000, a whopping Rs. 6000 cheaper than what Apple will sell it’s iPhone SE in India for.  India and Brazil are where Apple expects to do exceedingly well.

  • iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or iPhone 5s Which One Should you Choose

iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or iPhone 5s Which One Should you Choose

With Apple’s announcements on their March 21st event iPhone SE, Apple launched the iPhone SE. A smartphone which has the innards of an iPhone 6s, the screen size of an iPhone 5s and is missing out on 3D Touch. Also, no one appreciates the nomenclature “SE”.

However, now that Apple is offering so many iPhones for you to choose from, the choice has become difficult. Which one should you choose, and how do you decide?

For starters, if you want a 4-inch phone, and it has to be an iPhone, then you only have the iPhone 5s and iPhone SE up for grabs.

    iphone 5s gold white 16

The iPhone 5s is available for as low as Rs. 20,000 in India for the 16 GB and Rs. 24,000 for the 32 GB variant. It still runs on the latest OS and offers most of the same features as the new gen phones minus a few new ones. You are missing out on extensive processing, 4K video capture and 3D touch in comparison to iPhone 6s. You also miss out on some software features like an always on “Hey Siri” among few others.

    iPhone SE hero

iPhone SE changes things by adding the latest processor hence you get all your speed and graphics. You also get 4k video capture. You are still missing out on 3D touch and 120 fps slo-mo capture on Full HD. The iPhone SE adds always-on “hey-Siri” and some of the other features found in Apple flagships. The iPhone SE, in India However, will cost upwards of Rs. 39000 for the 16 GB variant at launch and more for the 64 GB variant, our guess Rs. 45000, which makes it extremely pricey. You are looking at a 12 MP main camera and a 1.2 MP front camera.

    iphone 6s plus 9

If screen size is not a problem, the larger iPhone 6s comes with a 4.7-inch screen size. You can get the 16 GB one for as low as Rs. 40000 which is just Rs. 1000 more than the iPhone SE at launch. With only that much of a difference, the iPhone 6s offers up the whole suite, including 3D touch, 4k video, slow-mo (120 fps) at 1080p. Along with the Apple’s A9 chip and M9 motion co-processor. You will also get a new design phone vs. a new phone that looks over three years old.

While a small screen is something that a lot of people appreciate, the iPhone SE becomes the natural choice. However, on a price crunch, the iPhone 5s is still an impressive phone and has sold on deal sales for as low as Rs. 15000 for the 16 GB variant. But if, screen size is not an issue the iPhone 6s is their flagship phone (not considering the plus option) and will cost only Rs. 1000 more than the iPhone SE at launch and comes in the same colors, offers more features and looks better.

Apple started the event by talking about their responsibility towards the environment. Then came LIAM an intelligent machine/robot that has been two years in development in Apple labs. LIAM is designed to sense and disassemble iPhones and other proprietary Apple Devices, and break them out into components that can then be recycled easily. This Robot/ machine will help Apple reduce their carbon footprint and help get back precious materials like gold, silver and platinum into the recycle chain so they can get back on newer devices and not get discarded in landfills.

Apple Launch Event Confirmed for 21st March; What to Expect

Apple has finally put an end to all the speculation and announced the date for what will be a major day for the tech giant. The day will most likely see Apple announce a couple of new products at an event held at its headquarters in Cupertino. Along with these product launches, Apple is also expected to unveil new software for its Apple Watch, and new build of the OS X.

The launch event which comes a day before the crucial hearing of the high-profile case involving the FBI and Apple. The tech giant will no doubt look to make the event on 21st a blockbuster, and gain some positive press before the case hearing the next day.

    Apple invite

The invite sent out by Apple teases, ” Let’s Loop You In”. This could be a possible reference to the unveiling of new bands for the Apple Watch, or could simply be a play on words hinting at what is Apple’s idea of keeping the world in the loop about its product launches.

The event should see Apple launch the 4-inch iPhone Se. As rumours reveal, this phone will see modern day internal hardware crammed inside the body of the older generation iPhone 5. The iPhone Se will come packing an A9 SoC, along with a fingerprint sensor and a beefed up camera. The phone in a bid to not eat up into the premium iPhone 6S’ share will stay away from bringing premium features such as the 3-D Touch display found on the 6S and 6S Plus.

Apart from the new entrant to the iPhone lineup, the company is also widely expected to unveil the successor of the iPad Air 2 or even a smaller iPad Pro to the media present at the event. Let’s just hope Apple can match up to the hype that has been created regarding this event over the past couple of weeks.
