  • Razer Smartphone Image Leaked Before Imminent Announcement

Razer Smartphone Image Leaked Before Imminent Announcement

The anticipation a smartphone made by Razer has been on a rise in the past few days. After Razer announced the date of launch for its upcoming smartphone, there have been a few leaks revealing key details about the device. But, a new leak has revealed what the phone might look like and also confirmed a key feature.

Slovakian blog TechByte has posted the photo of the Razer smartphone’s back-side. As can be seen in the image above, the smartphone has the Razer logo and it will be interesting to see if the logo is back lit with Razer’s signature green light. Another key feature is the dual-camera setup at the back. There isn’t much known about the camera except that it will record 3840 x 2160 px videos. There are certain design similarities with the Nextbit Robin phone, a company which was acquired by Razer in January of 2017. The circular volume rockers on the left of the device (right side of the image) and a rectangular design are reminiscent of the Robin phone.

    Nextbit Robin Mint

A recent listing on GFXBench revealed a few key specifications of the upcoming Razer phone as well.  As per the listing, the phone will have a 5.7 inch display with a Quad HD 2560 x 1440 px resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and 64GB onboard storage. The standout spec here is the RAM. While most of the flagship smartphones cap out with 4GB of RAM, with the exception of OnePlus 5 which has a 8GB RAM variant, the Razer smartphone will also have 8GB of RAM. Extra RAM makes sense as Razer will market this as a gaming device as the company itself pioneers in gaming accessories.

The announcement of the phone is scheduled for the 1st of November.

  • Leaked Poster Of Xiaomi Redmi 5A Reveals 8-Day Battery Life

Leaked Poster Of Xiaomi Redmi 5A Reveals 8-Day Battery Life

After a recent leak revealing what the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 might look like, the Redmi 5A now seems to have been leaked. A promotional poster of what might be the new Xiaomi Redmi 5A has been leaked on China’s social networking site, Weibo.

From the poster, there are a few things we can infer. The Redmi 5A won’t look all that different from its predecessor. It looks like the Redmi 5A will have a metal unibody rather than the plastic build found on the Redmi 4A. Since only the back of the phone is visible, it is hard to deduce anything about the front of the device. There seems to be antenna lines at the top of the phone and the back camera along with the LED flash are placed between the two antenna lines. The text translates to “Lightweight and Long Battery Life.” The poster reveals that the phone will weigh at about 137 grams and have an incredible 8-day battery life. The poster goes on confirming that this smartphone will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and run on MIUI 9 out of the box.

A recent listing on the certification website TENNA revealed a few details about the Xiaomi Redmi 5A. The smartphone will have a 5 inch display with a 1280 x 720 px resolution. The listing mentions a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor although there is no mention of the name of the chipset. The phone will be launched in 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB storage variants. The poster confirms the presence of the MIUI 9 over Android 7.1 Nougat. The images revealed along with the listing have been corroborated with the leak of the promotional poster revealing a metal unibody design.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is expected to be priced at 599 Yuan (Rs 5900 approx.) for the 2GBRAM/16GB storage variant and 699 Yuan (Rs 6900 approx.) for the 3GBRAM/32GB storage variant.

  • OnePlus 5T Press Renders Leaked

    OnePlus 5T Press Renders Leaked

OnePlus seems to be gearing up to launch the OnePlus 5T by the end of 2017. Unlike the incremental upgrade from the OnePlus 3 to 3T in 2016, this year’s OnePlus 5T might see a huge departure from the design language that OnePlus devices have followed. New renders leaked by SlashLeaks show minimal bezels and a tall display on the OnePlus 5T. Releasing the OnePlus 5T will solidify OnePlus’ launch pattern it is trying to set in the market, as it released the 3T a few months after the OnePlus 3 was launched in mid-2016.

The edges are curved and the bezels remind us of the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is not a bad thing, because the Galaxy S8 is one of the best looking devices of 2017. This might open doors for a comparison between the two phones, just like the OnePlus 5 was compared with the iPhone 7 Plus when it was launched. It seems like OnePlus will have to do something drastically different to avoid a yet another comparison for its flagship device.

The new phone is expected to have a 6 inch 2160 x 1080 px display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. When the OnePlus 5 was launched, one of the major criticism it faced was the thick bezels around the display, especially after it was dubbed as the “flagship killer.” OnePlus is trying to rectify that criticism by reducing the size of the bezels on the OnePlus 5T. The hardware will remain the same, just like it was when the OnePlus 3T was launched.

There have been reports that the Slate Grey variant of the OnePlus 5 has gone out of stock in several regions including the UK, which it claims indicates that OnePlus is indeed looking at launching the new model.

  • A Cheaper Variant of The Xiaomi Mi 6 Could Be Launched On November 11th

A Cheaper Variant of The Xiaomi Mi 6 Could Be Launched On November 11th

Xiaomi may have plans of rebooting its 2017 flagship, the Mi 6. Spotted on the certification website, TENNA, a Mi 6 with 4GB RAM and 65GB onboard storage might be launched on the 11th of November. In April 2017, the Mi 6 with 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/128GB storage were launched. A cheaper variant of the flagship could now make its way to the Chinese market in November.

The price is expected to be at 2299 Yuan (Rs 22700 approx.) which is about 200 Yuan cheaper than the standard variant. The Mi 6 with with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is available at a price of 2899 Yuan (Rs 27100 approx.). As far as other specifications are concerned, there won’t be any changes. The Mi 6 has a 5.15 inch 1920 x 1080 px LCD display. Powering the device is a 3350 mAh battery and the phone runs Android 7.1 Nougat with MUI skin on top. Under the hood, the device has Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. The fingerprint sensor is housed in the home button just below the display. Xiaomi Mi 6 is also splash-resistant, with the SIM tray also sealed against splashes.

Xiaomi Mi 6 is splash resistant

The Xiaomi Mi 6 does have stereo speakers and is missing a 3.5mm headphone jack, much like the iPhone 7 and it seems to have become a norm these days.

The Mi 6 has a dual camera set up of two 12MP cameras at the back. One of the cameras has a wide-angle lens with 4-axis Optical Image stabilisation with an f/1.8 aperture while the other one is equipped with a telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture for 2X lossless zoom and bokeh effect photos. On its front, it has an 8MP camera which records 1080P videos.

Whether the cheaper variant of the Mi 6 will make its way to India is yet to be seen and its global availability will be announced when the phone is unveiled.

  • Razer Smartphone Specifications Leaked

    Razer Smartphone Specifications Leaked

Razer took to Twitter on October 11th to reveal that it will be announcing its first ever smartphone on the 1st of November. Now, it seems like the specifications of the first ever Android phone made by Razer might have been leaked. A listing on GFXBench appears to be of the upcoming Razer smartphone with high-end specifications.

Extra RAM makes sense as Razer will market this as a gaming device as Razer itself is gaming accessories company.

While a specs listing doesn’t clearly tell us what the cameras will be like on this phone, it appears that the Razer Phone will have a 12MP sensor on the back and an 8MP camera on the front. The camera at the back will record 3840 x 2160 px videos as well.

The listing shows that the phone will run Android 7.1 Nougat and apparently it will have a custom skin on top. In January 2017, Razer acquired Nextbit, the company that made the Robin phone. Razer may use the assets as well as the core management and employees for making its smartphone and features like the deep cloud storage integration.

More information about the phone will be leaked in the coming days, as is with every smartphone launch. The official announcement of the phone is set for 1st November.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 With Bezel-Less Design Leaked

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 With Bezel-Less Design Leaked

Xiaomi has been known to launch multiple smartphones across the price range in a year and 2017 seems to be no different. After launching the Mi A1 with stock Android and the Mi Mix 2 with tri-bezel less display, it looks like the Redmi Note 5 is not too far away from an announcement. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 seems to have been leaked and the images reveal a large display and very thin bezels. Large displays aren’t new to the Redmi Note lineup but, considering its entry-level price point, a bezel-less display looks like very interesting.

One thing that might change from the leaked image to the actual device could be the white bezels. As far as specifications are concerned, there isn’t much known about the Redmi Note 5. Xiaomi might go for the Helio P25 or P30 chipset this time around. Prior Redmi Note devices have had the Snapdragon chipset and previous reports hinted towards a Snapdragon 660 chipset. As is with all Redmi Note phones, it will be a powered by a massive battery, probably a 4000 mAh battery.

The images also reveal a dual-camera setup which will be a first for this lineup. After the Mi A1’s launch, it won’t be surprising if the Redmi Note 5 with dual cameras is launched in India. Although, the Indian variant will definitely have a Qualcomm chipset.

The company had launched the Redmi Note 4 last year in August and has completed its update cycle. Xiaomi might launch the new Redmi Note 5 early next year. As far as pricing goes, the phone might be launched in the same price segment as the previous Redmi Note devices but, due to the bezel-less design and dual cameras, the pricing could be similar to the Mi A1 or the Mi 5X.

  • OnePlus 5T To Be Launched In November

OnePlus 5T To Be Launched In November

There have been reports suggesting that OnePlus will drop the 5T and instead release the OnePlus 6 in early 2018. Now, GizmoChina has reported that the OnePlus 5T is indeed in the pipeline and might be released as soon as November 2017. Releasing the OnePlus 5T will keep up the launch tradition that OnePlus is trying to set in the market, as it released the 3T a few months after the OnePlus 3 was launched in mid-2016.

Where the OnePlus 3T was an incremental upgrade with just a newer chipset, the OnePlus 5T will be a considerable upgrade over the OnePlus 5. The new phone is expected to have a 6 inch 2160 x 1080 px display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. When the OnePlus 5 was launched, one of the major criticism it faced was the thick bezels around the display, especially after it was dubbed as the “flagship killer.” The OnePlus 5T will have minimum bezels and feature a tall display, like a lot of flagship devices of 2017.

The report also mentions that the Slate Grey variants of the OnePlus 5 are out of stock in several regions including the UK, which it claims indicates OnePlus is indeed looking at launching the new model.

The renders revealed show what the OnePlus 5T might look like. The edges are curved and the bezels remind us of the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is not a bad thing, because the Galaxy S8 is one of the best looking devices of 2017.

  • Is This The New BlackBerry Motion?

Is This The New BlackBerry Motion?

BlackBerry was one of the main competitors in the ‘smartphone’ market a few years ago, until iOS and Android devices took over. In the past couple of years, BlackBerry has released a few Android OS running devices with a few BlackBerry exclusive features pertaining to cyber security. A prolific leaker on Twitter has revealed what could be the new BlackBerry Motion.

Ever since the IFA 2017 in Berlin, there have been reports of BlackBerry working on a touchscreen-only Android device called the BlackBerry Krypton. According to Evan Blass, Krypton was the internal code name for the phone and that it will be launched as the BlackBerry Motion. In late September, there was in image leaked of the Motion which showed the back of the device, showing a brushed metal bar on top with a relatively small camera module on it. The BlackBerry KEYone was launched with a single camera at the back and it looks like the Canadian company is not yet ready to jump aboard the dual-camera setup train.

The BlackBerry Motion will be designed and manufactured by the Chinese company TCL as per their agreement from 2016. The smartphone will have IP67 rating which has become a norm in flagship devices nowadays along with 26 hours of battery life. Expect the standard features for cyber security that BlackBerry boasts about along with enterprise-friendly software found in BlackBerry devices.

Unlike the BlackBerry KEYone, the Motion won’t have a keyboard and instead feature a full touchscreen with a home button at the bottom. The home button is also in the shape of BlackBerry’s logo and the 3.5mm headphone jack retains its place at the bottom of the device along with a USB Type C port.

There are no details about the launch date or the pricing strategy for the BlackBerry Motion as of yet.

  • Huawei Mate 10 Pro Leaked In Live Images Before October 16th Launch

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Leaked In Live Images Before October 16th Launch

Huawei is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated lineup of Mate 10 smartphones in Munich on October 16th. There have been a lot of leaks of the Mate 10 Pro, the flagship smartphone and new leaked images show the phone in all its glory with dual cameras and extremely thin bezels.

Recently, images and colour variants of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro were leaked by a prolific leaker on Twitter. The new live images leaked differ a little from the images with a more reflective back panel. The tipster also claims the phone will be launched in a limited Porsche Design edition with a burnished finish.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro will be powered by Kirin 970 chipset, which was unveiled at the IFA 2017 in Berlin by Huawei. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a 4000 mAh battery and run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The smartphone will have 6GB of RAM, and 64GB and 128GB onboard storage variants. The phone is also expected to be IP68 certified water and dust resistant.

The Leica branded dual camera setup at the back is said to consist of 12MP and 20MP sensors with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS. On the front, the smartphone is expected to have an 8MP camera.

Huawei boasted about the Kirin 970 chipset at the time of its unveiling and interestingly said that it has a neural transmitter, same as the A11 Bionic chipset found in the iPhone 8 and Phone X. Huawei went ahead and teased the launch of the “real AI smartphone” right after Apple’s September 12th event. It is believed that Huawei was referring to the Mate 10 Pro in that teaser.

At the IFA 2017, Mr. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Group said, “The NPU present inside the Kirin 970 chipset can think and actively work to provide you the best user experience, whereas other A.I. assistance like Google Assistant only works reactively.” The new chipset will also mean better battery life as Huawei suggests that it is “50 times more efficient than an average CPU.” Huawei being telecommunications giant has introduced new features in the Kirin 970 such as the Cat 18 compatibility, which means it can reach download speeds up to 1.2GB per second.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is expected to be launched at a premium price and will compete with the likes of the Galaxy Note8, Google Pixel 2 and the iPhone 8 in the flagship market right now.

Just a day before the official launch of the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, more images of the two phone have been leaked. Prolific leaker has tweeted images of the two new phones revealing the front, back and home screen launcher.

The images show three colour variants of the two phones, Black & White, All Black and Light Blue. The design of the smartphones at the back is more or less similar and in line with other recent leaks with a glass window and two-tone colours. Interestingly, both the phones have front-facing stereo speakers. The Pixel 2 has thick bezels and looks more similar to the 2016 Pixel while the Pixel 2 XL, which is being made by LG looks similar to the LG G6. The Pixel 2 XL has a forehead and chin similar to the LG G6 and Google has fit front-firing stereo speakers in the those tiny bezels, which, if true will be quite commendable and appreciated.

  • Huawei Mate 10 Pro With Dual Cameras Leaked Ahead Of Its Launch

Huawei Mate 10 Pro With Dual Cameras Leaked Ahead Of Its Launch

Even though Google’s new Pixel 2 lineup has been dominating the rumours ever since Apple unveiled its 2017 iPhone lineup, Huawei’s Mate 10 smartphones have been grabbing headlines. The Mate 10 lineup is scheduled to be announced on 16th October in Munich. A prolific leaker had given us a glimpse of what the Mate 10 Pro would look like, come October 16th.

It seems like the bezel-less display trend has finally caught up with Huawei as the leaks show minimal bezels around the display of the Mate 10 Pro. There is a forehead and chin to the phone but the design looks edge-to-edge as the side bezels are almost invisible. The colour variants shown in the tweet are also interesting. The three colours are grey, blue and what looks like brown. There is a dual-tone colour scheme at the back with the vertically placed dual-cameras sitting in a slightly different coloured strip.

• Google Pixel 2 And Google Pixel 2 XL Specifications Leaked

Google Pixel 2 And Google Pixel 2 XL Specifications Leaked

The launch of the new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is scheduled for October 4th. Android Authority has reported that new leaks reveal the full specifications of the next generation Pixel smartphones and have corroborated the leaks with an internal document.

Google Pixel 2 will have a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 px display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top of the display for protection. The smartphone will be powered by a 2700 mAh battery and run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. One new addition will be IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and the 3.5mm headphone jack will be a miss on the new Pixel. Making use of the chin and forehead, Google will add dual front firing stereo speakers to the Pixel 2. Another new feature which was rumoured for a while is Active Edge. First experienced in the HTC U11, this feature allows you to squeeze the frame of your phone to launch an app or trigger an action. The device will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, and 64GB or 128GB onboard storage options.

Purchasing either the Google Pixel 2 or the Pixel 2 XL will give the consumer unlimited Google Cloud storage until 2023, which might be what Google meant in the launch teaser video where it talked about phones running out of storage. The information about cameras on both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is a little hazy. Both the phones will have what Google is calling, “Pixel Cameras.” Unlike a lot of 2017 flagships, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have single camera at the back. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have  a Wide Colour Gamut and Google Imaging Chip, as well as Optical Image Stabilisation. Whether OIS will be present in both the cameras is yet to be seen.

The GooglePixel 2 XL on the other hand will see a design shift from the other three Pixel models and feature a curved Quad HD screen with thin bezels. The smartphone will be powered by a 3520 mAh battery which is considerably larger than the 2700 mAh battery on the Pixel 2. Just like the 2016 Pixel and Pixel XL, both the phone will have the same internals and cameras. This means a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, same 64GB or 128GB onboard storage variants and Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. Active Edge will also be present in the Pixel 2 XL and stereo speakers, albeit not front firing ones.

There is no word on the pricing of both the phones but previous leaks have suggested that the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be priced higher than their predecessors due to a bump in the storage. These are leaks at the end of the day and although the source claims them to be legitimate, you can’t be 100 percent sure until Google lifts the curtain on the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on October 4th.

  • Sony Flagship Device With A Bezel-Less Display Leaked

Sony Flagship Device With A Bezel-Less Display Leaked

Sony recently launched its new flagship, the Xperia XZ1 at IFA 2017 in Berlin. Although the phone has top-notch specifications and a promising camera, the design of the phone is still reminiscent of all Sony devices since the 2013 Xperia Z. When all the big smartphone manufacturers are moving towards a bezel-less display, the Sony Xperia XZ1’s design looks dated. However, it seems like 2018 will be the year when Sony finally ditches the top and bottom chins and launch a flagship Android smartphone with an 18:9 aspect ratio display.

A recent leak on GFXBench reveals that the new Sony smartphone, named Sony H8151 will have a tall display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone will have a 5.8 inch 2160 x 1080 px display. In the display column, there is another 11.5-inch 4320 × 2160 resolution display listed, which will be a 4K display and succeed the Xperia XZ Premium next year. The smartphone will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The CPU column mentions a 2.6GHz octa-core processor, but, the Snapdragon 835 is clocked at 2.4GHz. This means that the new device might have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 chipset, should Qualcomm change their mind and announce the chipset before the launch of the Sony smartphone. The phone will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

On the camera front, it looks like Sony will continue producing smartphones with a single camera. On the back will be a 17MP camera which will record 3840 x 2160 px (4K) videos. The front camera will have a 12MP sensor with 4K video recording capabilities as well.

The design of the smartphones will be marketed as the ‘Mirai’ design, which means ‘the future’ and will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2018.

  • Nokia 2 Running Android Oreo May Be Launched On October 5th

Nokia 2 Running Android Oreo May Be Launched On October 5th

HMD Global has launched three budget-oriented devices and a flagship smartphone, all under Nokia’s brand name. The smartphones have received mixed reactions with the price-to-performance ratio questioned the most, at least about the budget devices. It looks like a new Nokia 2 will be added to the repertoire of budget Android devices, come October 5th.

Earlier reports suggested that the Nokia 2 will have a 4000 mAh battery, the biggest one yet inside a Nokia Android smartphone. A famous tipster on Twitter shared images of the Nokia 2 sporting a similar design language as the previous devices with thick bezels, but no home button below the screen. This means that the phone will miss out on a fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 2 appears to be running stock Android as well, and the version could be Oreo, as per the recently spotted US FCC documents. Other leaks suggest that the Nokia 2 is expected have a 5-inch 1280 x720 px display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset with 1GB of RAM.

Another interesting observation here is the date on the leaked images. The home screen on both images shows “October 5th” as the date which might suggest that the Nokia 2 could launch on that date. However, all of this is speculation and should be taken with a pinch of skepticism.
