They may also sport the 5x optical, periscope style camera from the P30 Pro, but nothing is certain yet. Huawei Mate 30 Pro Design Revealed By Case Maker

Huawei is bracing for the launch its latest flagship smartphones, the Mate 30 lineup which will succeed the Mate 20 lineup from the year 2018. Going by previous launch cycles, the upcoming devices are expected to be unveiled in the month of October.

However, months before the official launch the alleged renders of both the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro have been revealed by a case maker. Although the source cannot be verified, based on past claims, the leak looks legit.

Besides, case makers usually have design details for upcoming smartphones so that they can manufacture accessories in time, right before their demand skyrockets following the official announcement.

According to leaked images, both the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro have a high screen to body ratio display on the front. Noteworthy, they also have a wide notch up top along with unconventionally tapered side edges which were previously revealed by its leaked screen protectors.

It is evident that the Mate 30 Pro sports a larger display in comparison to the standard variant. But details about the screen size of either device are currently unavailable.

The rear of both the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro accommodate a triple camera setup which is housed in a circular module. Notably, the former has a circle-shaped LED flash while the latter has a square-shaped flash.

In addition, the upcoming smartphone duo from Huawei also has the company branding and what appears to be a loudspeaker grille on the rear.

The devices lack any visible fingerprint sensor, therefore, they are assumed to feature and an in-display fingerprint scanner which is slowly becoming a standard for mid-range and flagship devices.

Unfortunately, the source does not reveal any specifications of the Mate 30 smartphones. Nonetheless, they are expected to be kitted with the HiSilicon Kirin 985 SoC which will reportedly be manufactured by TSMC.

Apart from the leaked case renders, another source claims that the Huawei Mate 30 smartphones will be equipped with dual 40 MP rear cameras which will be an industry first.

Even though the current leaks seem correct and go in line with past revelations, we will have to wait until the devices are officially launched which is expected to happen in the month of October.

Huawei is still reeling from the after shocks after being relieved from the ban that was designated by the US Department of Commerce. However, business is still in full swing with rumours and leaks regarding the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro increasing in numbers. A fresh leak sheds some light on the camera of the highest DxOMark scoring smartphone ever.

    Huawei Mate 30

Huawei was spotted applying for two trademark applications to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). The trademark carried the names Cine-Lens and Camera Matrix. It indicates that the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro feature a cinema lens for high quality video recordings. The application for Huawei Cine-Lens carries a description for “cinema photography; optical lenses for recording, reproduction and processsing of sound, images and/or data; smartphones; camcorders; cameras.”

    Huawei Mate 30

It is being speculated that both the trademarks are for Huawei’s Mate 30 and 30 Pro. Both smartphones are premium grade flagships and are expected to arrive in October. The application for Cine Lens is big deal considering Huawei has already introduced matrix camera in the Mate 20 series of 2018. Cine Lens seems to refer to camera lens which are specifically developed for high quality videography. Interestingly, actual cinema lens are rather expensive and a mobile version optimized for video recording will be quite innovative.

Leica is one of the manufacturers for such cine lenses and has frequently collaborated with Huawei. Hence, it is probable that the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro could feature the new lens technology; generally the Pro variants carry a better camera, so the feature may skip the standard variant. Unfortunately, finer details regarding the upcoming flagships from Huawei is still unavailable. An official company announcement is expected to be available in the arriving weeks; updates will be provided soon after.

Companies like Samsung have already announced a 5G variant for the S10 and Galaxy Fold, whereas Huawei is releasing a 5G version for its Mate X foldable device. As per latest reports, Huawei will also launch a 5G variant for the upcoming Mate 30 smartphone, which will probably release in the second half of the year 2019.

    Availability

Huawei CEO revealed that the company will ensure 5G connectivity for the entire lineup of the Mate 30 series. He also stated the reason for the non-availability of 5G connectivity on the P30 series, which is the state of the network. As per his statement, the 5G network is still under development, so the company is equipping its future smartphones with 5G in order to ensure that their launch coincides with the rollout of 5G network in major markets in 2019.

In another statement from Huawei’s CEO, 5G technology will be consumer-worthy this Fall and will be incorporated in the next series of smartphones, indicating that the Mate 30 series may hit the market near the months of September, October or November. Noteworthy, the Mate 20 was unveiled in November 2018, so the release of the Mate 30 lineup in 2019 may be lined up with its predecessor’s launch date.

  • Huawei Patents Smartphone With Second Display And Periscopic Camera

Huawei Patents Smartphone With Second Display And Periscopic Camera

Huawei is known for incorporating the latest innovations with each iteration of its smartphones, seeing how the Chinese manufacturer has launched some really popular devices over the last couple of years. The company has announced that it will unveil the highly anticipated P30 series of smartphones on the 26th of March 2019. Huawei has been teasing an extraordinary feature of the P30’s camera, called lossless zoom. It will enable users to zoom up to 10x without any loss in image quality. On March 13, a design patent was granted to the company, which indicates that it is working on a device with two displays and a similar aforementioned camera.

    About The Patent

The freshly granted patent reveals that Huawei’s new device will sport a periscopic camera lens as well as dual displaya. The smartphone from the patent will most likely succeed the Huawei Mate 20 series. The design patent was filed on November 28 2018, by a law firm based in Germany on the behalf of Huawei Technologies. The patent was published on February 28, 2019, by both the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).

    Design And Features

The most unique feature of this patent is evidently the second smaller display that is placed on the rear. Placed directly below the camera, the “almost square” screen will supposedly be used to take improved selfies in portrait mode, thanks to the advanced camera module of the device. Moreover, the user will be able to use the device even while it’s upside down. A similar screen setup was previously seen in the Vivo Nex, which was launched in the year 2018. The Nex was also equipped with a second screen which covered the back of the smartphone

The Huawei smartphone will be equipped with a horizontal triple camera setup at the back, unlike the vertical camera setup in the upcoming P30. A square shaped lens in the setup suggests that the company will use a similar periscopic camera system which will also be present in the upcoming P30 series. Also, the patent indicates an LED flash and built-in laser autofocus on the device.

The patent shows that the Huawei device also houses a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor in the front notch for face recognition. Noteworthy, the Vivo Nex was launched without a front camera or sensor so as to implement a full-screen design. Furthermore, the patent also shows a 3.5 mm headphone jack placed at the bottom of the device, placed right next to the USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grille. The left side of the smartphone houses the volume rockers and the lock/power button, along with another button that may be used to hot-switch between the two screens. The right side, on the other hand, houses the SIM card tray.

Huawei will probably launch the speculated Mate 30 series in the second half of the year 2019. The device is expected to be a strong contender in the premium flagship segment, considering the fact that the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro received rave reviews globally.
