    Oppo Treats The Flagship Reno Smartphone With 5G Connectivity

    Earlier this year, Oppo launched the Reno smartphone lineup that consists of the ‘standard variant’ and the ’10x zoom variant’. The distinctive feature of both the handsets is a ‘shark fin’ style selfie camera which is operated via an electronic mechanism. In addition, both devices have an edge-to-edge display and sturdy construction. 

    According to a fresh report, the company has also developed a 5G variant of the smartphone which will first make its way to the Netherlands. The device will be commercially available in the year 2020 and will be offered in partnership T-Mobile telecom provider which will be the first 5G provider in the country. 

    Oppo Reno Features

    Besides, the addition of a Qualcomm X50 5G modem, the upcoming Oppo Reno 5G is reported to have the same design and features as the previously launched ’10x zoom variant’. For reference, following are the features of the smartphone

    The front of the Oppo Reno is dominated by a 6.6 inch AMOLED display that is surrounded by negligible bezels on all sides. The device does not feature any obstruction causing notch to house the selfie camera, instead, it has a shark fin style camera that has a resolution of 16 MP.

    Under the hood, the Oppo Reno features the Snapdragon 855 SoC which features an Octa-Core chipset along with the Adreno 640 GPU.  The smartphone also sports a triple rear camera setup which consists of a 48 MP, 8 MP and a 13 MP sensor that supports 10x lossless zoom.

    The Oppo Reno is powered by a 4065 mAh battery which also supports fast charging. For securely logging into the UI, it also has an in-display fingerprint sensor along with the support for the conventional screen lock.

    To sum it up, Oppo has geared itself with worthy smartphones to take on the 5G wave. Although details about its availability in India are currently unavailable, we believe it will also be launched in the country. Taking the fact into consideration, the X50 modem will be compatible with 5G networks whenever an Indian telecom provider starts offering the service.

    Chinese smartphone maker, Oppo has finally launched its highly anticipated smartphone duo, the Oppo Reno in India. The smartphones were originally launched in China in the month of April 2019. The more affordable and less feature rich variant carries the ‘standard’ tag whereas the high-end variant of the device carries the ’10x Zoom’ suffix. The highlight of the smartphone is the shark fin style pop up camera, which is one of a kind. Except for the price, the main differences between the two newly launched smartphones are battery capacity, screen size, processor and number of rear camera sensors. 

    Oppo Reno Lineup: Features And Specifications 

     Oppo Reno Front  

    The Oppo Reno smartphone lineup, including the standard variant and the 10x zoom variant, has an attractive design. The large screen display of the smartphones is surrounded by narrow bezels on all four sides. The standard variant has a 6.4 inch AMOLED display while the elder sibling has a large 6.6 inch AMOLED display. Both smartphones have an impressive screen to body ratio of 93.1% which is attainable due to the aforementioned shark fin styled selfie camera.

    The shark fin style extension houses a 16 MP camera sensor. The company claims that the selfie camera has a life cycle of more than 3,00,000 pop up which can be used as an indicator for its durability. The ‘standard’ variant of the newly launched smartphone has 2 rear facing cameras while the ’10x zoom variant’ has an additional 13 MP periscopic camera which offers 10x lossless zoom capability. Except for the periscopic camera, both variants have a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor and an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor.

    Oppo Reno backThe Oppo Reno ’10x zoom’ variant is kitted with the Snapdragon 855 SoC while the ‘standard’ variant is kitted with Snapdragon 710 SoC. Chipsets on both the smartphone variants have octa-core CPUs which can perform intensive tasks smoothly. The more affordable variant is powered by a 3765 mAh battery while the premium variant is powered by a 4065 mAh battery. Notably, both the variants support Oppo’s proprietary VOOC 3.0 charging technology. VOOC 3.0 allows the device to be charged with a maximum power of 20W which is equivalent to OnePlus’s Dash charge technology. 

    Both variants of the Oppo Reno run on ColosOS 6.0 based on top of Android 9 Pie. Connectivity options on both smartphones include Bluetooth v5.0, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, NFC and a bottom mounted USB Type-C port. Both the ‘standard’ and ’10x zoom’ variants of the Oppo Reno also have an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is becoming the norm for mid range to premium-range smartphones these days.

Surprisingly the company has launched two different variants which have a similar design but different features and price tag. The more affordable and less feature rich variant carries the ‘standard’ suffix while the high-end variant carries the ’10x Zoom’ suffix. One stand out feature that both the smartphones have is a shark fin style pop up camera. As the name suggests the selfie camera of the smartphone extends from the top side which is reminiscent of a shark fin. Except for price, the main differences between the two newly launched smartphones are battery capacity, screen size, processor and number of rear cameras.

    Oppo Reno Design and Features

    Both Oppo Reno smartphones, the standard variant and the 10x have an elegant design accrediting to their large screen display which is surrounded with ultra-thin bezels. The former has 6.4 inch AMOLED display while the latter has a 6.6 inch AMOLED display. The smartphones have an impressive screen to body ratio of 93.1% which they are able to attain due to the aforementioned shark fin styled selfie camera. Except for the periscopic camera, both variants have a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor.

    Both variants of the Oppo Reno run on ColosOS 6.0 which is based on top of Android 9 Pie.
