Earlier this year, Oppo launched the Reno smartphone lineup that consists of the ‘standard variant’ and the ’10x zoom variant’. The distinctive feature of both the handsets is a ‘shark fin’ style selfie camera which is operated via an electronic mechanism. In addition, both devices have an edge-to-edge display and sturdy construction.

According to a fresh report, the company has also developed a 5G variant of the smartphone which will first make its way to the Netherlands. The device will be commercially available in the year 2020 and will be offered in partnership T-Mobile telecom provider which will be the first 5G provider in the country.

Besides, the addition of a Qualcomm X50 5G modem, the upcoming Oppo Reno 5G is reported to have the same design and features as the previously launched ’10x zoom variant’. For reference, following are the features of the smartphone

The front of the Oppo Reno is dominated by a 6.6 inch AMOLED display that is surrounded by negligible bezels on all sides. The device does not feature any obstruction causing notch to house the selfie camera, instead, it has a shark fin style camera that has a resolution of 16 MP.

Under the hood, the Oppo Reno features the Snapdragon 855 SoC which features an Octa-Core chipset along with the Adreno 640 GPU.  The smartphone also sports a triple rear camera setup which consists of a 48 MP, 8 MP and a 13 MP sensor that supports 10x lossless zoom.

The Oppo Reno is powered by a 4065 mAh battery which also supports fast charging. For securely logging into the UI, it also has an in-display fingerprint sensor along with the support for the conventional screen lock.

To sum it up, Oppo has geared itself with worthy smartphones to take on the 5G wave. Although details about its availability in India are currently unavailable, we believe it will also be launched in the country. Taking the fact into consideration, the X50 modem will be compatible with 5G networks whenever an Indian telecom provider starts offering the service.
