ADATA Unveils XPG SPECTRIX D60G DDR4 RGB Memory Module

ADATA is one of the world’s most popular storage manufacturers, which is known for its wide range of memory modules, including DRAMs, SB Flash drives and HDDs. The Taiwanese company launched the XPG SPECTRIX D60G DDR4 memory on April 17, 2019, and the module features a unique lighting design, which gives it the highest RGB surface area of any RAM module, the company claims.

    Features And Specifications

The XPG D60G RAM has a frequency range from 3000-4133 MHz. Available in three different variants, the memory module supports Intel XMP 2.0 profile manager, so that users can overclock the memory through the PC’s operating system instead of the BIOS. The company claims that the D60G is built with the best-in-class material to extend the lifespan of the memory module. Furthermore, the RAM module is housed in a metal heat sink for improved signal quality and stability.

The highlight of the XPG Spectrix DDR4 RAM module is the full-RGB design of the same. The memory module features full exposed RGB light strips in order to cover a wide area. In order to boost the aesthetics of the system, the RAM module also sports a multi-coloured flow effect. As per XPG, the D60G covers a total area of 9,497mm2  which equates to over 60 percent of the module’s surface area. In terms of the casing, the RAM has a multifaceted surface which gives an elegant look.

The RGB lighting of the RAM module can be programmed so as to maintain synchronization between different components of the system. Using the XPG RGB Sync desktop application, users can develop new RGB patterns and control the “breathe” speed of the RAM. In case users are running a preinstalled RGB light control application from a separate motherboard manufacturer, they can integrate the same with the RAM module. The XPG Spectrix D60G RAM is available in two module variants, 8GB and 16GB (8×2). Additional information regarding the RAM module is listed below:

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus RAM Revealed

Apple received guffaws and wow’s at their launch event last week but they very smartly didn’t reveal the battery life or RAM of their most anticipated devices; the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Naturally then, when the battery life was announced, the tech mogul received a lot of flak for its 1715 mAh battery fail, with the likes of Sony using it as an opportunity to ridicule it.

However, Apple is set to have the last laugh with iOS developer, Hamza Sood, announcing that this time, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will have 2GB of RAM. While this might not be at par with the Galaxy S6 (3GB RAM) or the Galaxy Note 5 (4GB RAM), it is still pretty big news, since Apple has always come out with RAM space that was 1 GB or lesser.

The rumoured spec was first spotted on Xcode and later confirmed by Sood, via Twitter. If you haven’t looked at the specs already here’s a quick look:

  • Samsung Announces 6 GB RAM for Phones

Samsung Announces 6 GB RAM for Phones

Samsung has proved its presence cannot be ignored in the tech world irrespective of the ruckus being kicked up around it. Following the news of the new iPhones, the company made an announcement in a press release last night about its 12 GB mobile DRAM chips. This has just opened the door for 6 GB smartphones in the near future because the 12Gb LPDDR4 enables 3 GB or 6GB of mobile DRAM in a single package by simply using two chips and four chips respectively.

Samsung says that “compared to the preceding 20nm-based 8Gb LPDDR4, the 12Gb version is more than 30% faster at 4,266Mbps, and is twice as fast as DDR4 DRAM for PCs, while consuming 20 percent less energy.” It goes on to comment that these chips won’t be confined to just phones but hopefully would be available for “ultra-slim PCs, digital appliances and automotive device,” as well. One of the advantages of having a high RAM is that it makes multi-tasking on the device incredibly smooth.

Currently, even the fanciest of Samsung phones do not go beyond 4 GB of RAM. However, a 6 GB phone sometime next year shouldn’t come as a surprise now that the official announcement about the technology has been made.

  • OnePlus 2 Is Confirmed To Arrive With a 4GB RAM

OnePlus 2 Is Confirmed To Arrive With a 4GB RAM

One of the biggest triumph stories of 2014, OnePlus, conquered the mid-segment smartphone market with its feature-rich phone with top-notch specs with a reasonable price tag. With several enhancements and revisions compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus One, the OnePlus 2 is probably one of the most expected Android devices of the year.

Today, OnePlus has announced the upcoming smartphone will sport a 4GB RAM. It will sport the next-generation LPDDR4 memory chips, which are also packed with Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge only, for now. No other smartphone, apart from the Asus Zenfone, in the Indian market comes with 4GB of RAM, which is required to make use of the 64-bit processor for faster operations of the next generation of apps.

So far we know that OnePlus 2 will run on Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4GB RAM. The phone will sport a 5.5-inch 2K display that will improve the viewing experience of the user. The OnePlus 2 will also have a USB C-Type, the first in a flagship device by a major manufacturer. Just a few days back, the company revealed that the phone will come with a built-in fingerprint scanner.

The company has confirmed its price Will Not Cross More Than Rs 28,500. OnePlus ruled out all the rumors of the temporarily titled OnePlus 2 and stated that the much-awaited device will make a debut in the third quarter of this year. Let’s wait and watch.

  • Google May have Forgotten to Announce One Big Android M Feature

Google May have Forgotten to Announce One Big Android M Feature

Despite all the announcements made at Google I/O for the new Android M OS , Google left out a set of updates that may be slightly more crucial to some people. With the developer preview of Android M now available to those with Nexus devices, some of the new features we saw are interesting.

However, one big thing that will affect every Android phone buyer in India is the new handling of microSD storage. With Android M, all new handsets will have the ability to turn microSD card storage into system memory. This is a very big deal, especially because it will make buying a larger capacity smartphone redundant. Companies often charge premiums for higher capacity variants of the same hardware, differentiating them only on the inbuilt storage.

    Google Now Launcher
    Google Now Launcher

Sources tell us that Samsung intentionally left out microSD card storage from the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to earn premiums on higher capacities. They also did this because they were aware of this feature being launched in the next update of Google’s Android operating system. If Samsung had given the ability to install a microSD on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, after the launch of Android M and Samsung’s update, it would have meant either lower earnings on the higher storage variants or a halt in sale all together as people would get the cheapest and then install a microSD.

Here are the other hidden features of Android M:

    1. Uninstall apps using the Google Now Launcher. Long tap any app and drag up and right.
    2. Head over to Settings > Device > Apps > Advanced > Memory  to visit the RAM Manager. This feature lets you seethe performance of each App on your device per the RAM available on the handset. This nifty feature also allows you to kill Apps that consume too much memory.Android M screens 0
    3. Support for MIDI devices: a feature that budding musicians have had on the iOS devices for a while now comes to Android and will allow you to attach Keyboards and DJ decks that support MIDI connections.
    4. USB OTG is also standard, and all devices with Android M will support USB OTG. This mixed with the new microSD management will essentially end the high price variant devices.
      multi window
    5. Multi-window support can also be enabled by going through a slightly back end process.
    6. Hotspot 2.0 allows you to create Wireless Hotspots on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
    7. Swiping from the bottom left to  right on the Lock Screen will now launch Google Now Voice search vs the dialer in Android Lollipop.

    8. The new Doze feature is highly customisable and can be turned on or off on a per app basis. Allowing you to save battery on the usage of apps you do not need in the background.
