Micromax A45 “Punk” launched at Rs 5,499

    Whoops! Something went wrong!
The A45 is basically a music smartphone.

Micromax’s newest offering to the entry-level Android smartphones,  the A45 “punk”, was made available for purchase on Wednesday at a price tag of Rs 5,499. The device, like it’s predecessor the A50 “Ninja”, comes pre-loaded with Micromax’s voice assistant “AISHA” which helps you with simple tasks such as finding the nearest restaurants and weather forecasts and is mainly a music phone.

The A45 Punk runs Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread), and comes engineered with a 650 MHz processor, a 8.89 cm full touch capacitive screen with a resolution of 320 X 480 pixel. The phone reportedly provides a talk time of 4.5 hours powered by a 1300mAh Li-ion battery. It is a dual SIM phone, and sports a 2 megapixel camera, with a memory is expandable up to 32GB.  The device offers a new way to explore, discover and enjoy music and thus revamp your music listening experience through a set of funky looking headphones (with HD surround), provided along with the handset. • Sony Xperia P to be Available May 25th for 24,999

Sony Xperia P to be Available May 25th for 24,999

Sony Mobile’s much awaited Xperia P mobile phone has been deemed to be available starting May 25th for a price Rs. 24999. The Xperia P is a slightly lower version of the Xperia S and will feature a 4-inch Reality Display that Sony claims is the brightest on any screen, so far.

This 120gm phone also has impressive music,  it includes xLoud, Clear Bass and 3D surround. It comes with Android 2.3 installed and a Android 4.0 promise.

The one factor that puts it above the Xperia S is Aluminum unibody construction. And as far as internals are concerned its powered by a 1Ghz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and internal storage of 16GB. The Camera also bears the grunt of downsizing to 8MP vs the 12 on the Xperia S

  • Lava Xolo X900 Hands On featuring, One X, Xperia S and iPhone 4s

Lava Xolo X900 Hands On featuring, One X, Xperia S and iPhone 4s

The Intel based Android smartphone comes to India first, and has managed to create quite the buzz. The phone is powered by an Intel Atom Processor Z2460 which is a single core chip clocked at 1.6 GHz and Hyper Threading, there is also a 400 MHz GPU on the SOC.

The x900 has a 4.03 inch display with a 1024 x 600 px resolution and gorilla glass protection. The back of the device is home to an 8 MP camera with 1080p  whereas on the front has a 1.3MP and 480p for video chat

The overall look of the phone is quite a disappointment, the build looks cheap and plasticky, it also has flimsy panels and the buttons are not tactile. the phone can easily be passed off as a cheap chinese replica model. The back however, has a nice soft touch rubber finish and is possibly he only real thing working for this phone in terms of aesthetics.

Benchmarks on this device blew out of the roof with impressive results all around, you will see in our hands on video. The phone is priced at Rs. 22,000 (US $ 425) which seems justified for the hardware and the performance, but not for aesthetics or build quality.

Check out the hands on images, featuring the best of the devices from today. Stay tuned for the Hands on Video

Sony Xperia S Unboxing and Hands on Review

The Sony Xperia S, was launched recently in India, and despite the high price and low specs seems to doing just great in the market. The device has an impressive display one of the best till date, with a 1280×720 px resolution crammed into a 4.3 inch display along with the Mobile Bravia Engine .

First impressions of the device make you feel like the phone is more eye-candy and less functional, but that is quickly changed when you power on the device and the crisp display shows up. The phone appears to be very functional and responsive.

At the heart of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 Dual Core chipset with 1.5GHz of speed, and a Adreno 220 GPU . The Xperia S has an whopping 12 megapixels of camera resolution at the back with full HD 1080p video capability. On the front is a 1.3 MP camera which is however capable of 720p video aswell.

The design is brilliant and the glowing bar in the bottom area looks exceptionally good. The back panel opens up to give access to the micro-sim slot, the battery is a 1750 mAh battery and is not changeable. The phone has a 16GB store with no micro SD expandability.

  • Nokia 808 PureView Hands on At Launch in New Delhi

Nokia 808 PureView Hands on At Launch in New Delhi

Nokia announced its plans for the new Nokia PureView 808 for India, yesterday at a press conference in New Delhi. The company is excited about the technology and is pleased to bring its flagship camera device to the Indian shores. The device will be available early next month with a price tag around the 45k range. The Nokia 808 purview sports a stunning 41MP sensor (38 effective) with Carl Zeiss optics.

The new PureView oversampling technology allows the device to render 41 MP photos to a 5MP size for easy photo sharing over networking sites like Facebook and Flickr. Users can also click at full resolution and modify the images on a pc if so required. Nokia claims that the device is capable of effective 38MP images via the sensor with a file size of approx 14-20 mb. All files are stored in jpeg format and the company has no plans to include RAW or any other format.

The device also uses the same oversampling technology to downsize the video to 1080p at 30fps and 25fps among other formats, you also get 3x lossless zoom and super image stabilization in full hd 1080p , come down to 720p to get 6x lossless zoom and to 360p for upto 12x lossless zoom and capture.

  • Motorola Atrix 2 Full Review + Video + Images

Motorola Atrix 2 Full Review + Video + Images

Often, in terms of technology, new products are launched worldwide. Some make it to our fair nation and some completely neglect its existence. The Motorola Brand is one of those companies that dares to beat the odds and infiltrate our market. Late more than ever, some of their products do reach us and the Motorola Atrix 2 did come to India, Although, much later than we wanted it to.

After using it for donkeys days we realized that it actually was stiff competition to the likes of Samsung and HTC in the Android sector and blew away by proportions the iOS of this range namely 3Gs.

Here is our low down,  dirty and in-depth review of the Moto Atrix Deux (2)

    Build Quality

The Atrix two has a slightly understated build, the company does not do a good job of marketing their product in India. The back of the Atrix 2 has rubber, the kind that does not attract dust a lot, but has a wonderful texture that allows it to be grippy. The back also kind of prevents your phone from going into a panic shock (only if dropped on the back). The Atrix 2 has a nice shiny bezel that has a chrome undertone – more dark chrome titanium esque – and a wonderful display with Corning Gorilla Glass, that gives it the protection it deserves in the front, making it scratch and impact resistant.

    Specs

    The Display, Camera and Multimedia

Most of these sections are related hence they are all in one sub, The display on the Atrix 2 is a brilliant 4.3 incher with a qHD resolution of 540×960 making it a rich 256 pixels per inch. The only back draw is the level of black is not as intense/deep as we’d like it to be, seemingly also the only thing that is bad with the display of the Atrix 2. The clors are bright and vibrant, brightness levels are excellent.

The Camera is a wonderful snapper, don’t go on comparing it to the super fps of the One X, it captures 264×2448 px images at its max. The camera is fast and has good light capture, it also does full hd video at 1080p. The front camera is a VGA, but should suffice for Skype and Facebook DP images, there is no 3G video calling unfortunately.

Multimedia involves, excellent video playback on the qHD display this is beautifully played thanks to the juice in the processor. The Audio quality is excellent aswell, plug in your headphones to get a great mix of software enhancements. Overall the 3 segments of the Atrix 2 are impressive leaving only did-bits to desire.

    Phone, Network and Data

The phone calling capability is robust, with a great earpiece and a receptive mic, there is also noise cancellation to better the overall experience. The network remained solid in our tests with little or no dropped calls, quite good.

Data browsing is fast and 3G connectivity was quite stable in our unstable 3G nation. No flickering between networks meant that we also saved a whole lot of juice and time while trying to access the internet or using connected apps. The online experience on the Atrix 2 is what Android was built for, according to us anyway. Its a pity that we haven’t seen such performance on any other device, the tweaks by Motorola really set the online capability of the Atrix 2 apart.

    Moto Mix

Motorola also added a ton of features, including 10 free games from EA and a lot of connected apps that have now started to work in India (most of them anyway). In our opinion with a few limitations, the Moto Blur experience only stands behind the likes of TouchWiz and TimeScape.

    Battery

This is our most loved aspect of the Atrix 2, we don’t know what Motorola has done, But seriously, companies should replicate it, license it, steal it or whatever it takes to get the battery performance from their Android devices. The Atrix 2 went on and on, with no special settings changes, we did not turn off the data, or location services or any other connected app.

Standby times were phenomenal, with the device staying connected , receiving notifications for upto 5 days. Talk time over 3G was an outstanding 6-7 hours with an hour increase with 2G mode.

Similar was the experience with 3G web browsing, ranging from 6-10 hours. Battery on the Atrix 2 is Moto Wow!

    Conclusion

The Atrix 2 is priced right, comes with Android 2.3 , but will definitely get ICS, performance and battery life is phenomenal. Multimedia and gaming is good, with it being an excellent phone with solid networks and a brilliant battery life. Moto also packs in multiple games for the buyer to entice him/her. You can’t go wrong with this, except it does have a slightly washed out black level, limited connectivity to Motorola blur add ons, and well it has less clout value in the market. Hopefully some of those can be fixed with a software update.

    Best Price : Rs. 21,500/- USD : 409.

  • Samsung Star 3 Duos Gets Unboxed and Reviewed on iGyaan (Video)

Another one of those duos phones, the Samsung Star 3 Duos is the next version of the Samsung Star Series and is a great add on to their existing lineup. Priced just in the Rs.  5000 price bracket the phone delivers quite a bunch of surprises.

Wifi, Dual sim, Facebook, Twitter, and even Sammy’s own Chat On messenger – the TouchWIz esque UI is a good add on as well. The phone feels great in the users hand is well built for a long lasting experience.

Good speakers and microphone make it a good phone aswell. The network seems capable, although the range of the wireless is weak according to us.

  • Upcoming Micromax A78 SuperFone gossip may not impress the onlooker

Upcoming Micromax A78 SuperFone gossip may not impress the onlooker

Micromax is working on a A78 Superfone gossip, yet another phone in their Superfone lineup that may be ridiculed by the lot of power hungry buyers. The device however according to us may actually show some promise if Micromax works out the kinks.

The phone features dual GSM sim slots, and will come with Android 2.3 out the box. It has a large enough 3.5 inch capacitive touch along with a QWERTY keyboard in the same candy bar format. Now here are the low key elements, it works on the same old processor you saw on the A75 and has a 3 MP and a 0.3 MP cameras but assumed to be fixed focus. Now the battery is also a sizable 1300 mAh one but does it justify the dual sim capabilities?.

Price is expected to be under the Rupees 10,000 mark , with the device available as early as next week.
