Karbonn Smart Tab now comes with Android Jelly Bean

Karbonn Mobiles has announced that its Smart tablet will now come with Android Jelly Bean on board, making it the first affordable Indian tablet to offer the latest version of Android operating system.

The Smart Tab 1 tablet is the second with Android 4.1 after Google’s Nexus 7 was announced in late June. At rupees 6990, the price is lower than that of Nexus 7, which starts at $199.

The tablet has a 7-inch screen and runs on a single-core MIPS processor at a clock speed of 1.2GHz. It has a 2-megapixel front camera, 3G support through a dongle, and seven hours of battery life while surfing and eight hours of battery on video.

The Smart Tab 1 is the first Android 4.1 tablet to be available with a processor from MIPS, which two weeks ago said it had accelerated the port of the OS to work with its processors.

Karbonn Mobiles said an over-the-air update to Android 4.1 will be delivered to existing Smart Tab 1 customers, but did not specify a timeline. The company hopes to sell 200,000 tablets per month.

It also has plans to launch 9.7-inch tablet in September, which too will be running on Android Jelly Bean platform.

Most Android Honeycomb Tablets will upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich

The air has been cleared over the tablet to Android 4 controversy and it seems all but most Honeycomb tablets will be updated to the latest build of Android from their companies. The only thing that lies in the middle is the timeline, and since we all know that companies like to take their own sweet time ironing out the kinks, we would say it should be a while.

  • Infinite Loop – The Accesory With Infinite Uses

Infinite Loop – The Accesory With Infinite Uses

Tim Gushue, an engineer and designer, has created an accessory that he calls the Infinite Loop. It is basically an extensible, multipurpose stand for tablets and smart-phones, which can be bent into any shape and holds onto a device via suction cups. He plans to develop a series of accessories for the Infinite Loop including clip on speakers, a USB module and a camera screw thread adaptor.

The device is composed of co-molded metal and plastic and comes in two flavours. There is the two foot long ‘mini-loop’ and the standard four foot long ‘Infinite Loop’. The flexibility and adjustability of the Infinite Loop makes it compatible with virtually all tablets on the market today including the iPad, Playbook, and Galaxy Tab as well as most e-book readers like the Kindle and the Nook. The Mini Loop is compatible with all of Apple’s ‘touch’ products including the iPod and the iPhone as well as virtually any smart-phone that you can stick a suction cup to.

The device as a whole has been designed for a vast number of uses and its flexible nature means that it can be bent into a variety of shapes. The design is also modular, so multiple Infinite Loops can be joined together to create a larger stand/holder. When not in use, the Loop can be rolled up into a compact circle.

  • Apple Sues Samsung for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and other Infringements

Apple Sues Samsung for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and other Infringements

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal , Apple sued Samsung Electronics Co., claiming that Samsung’s Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablet copied Apple’s iPhone and iPad. For patent infringements.

    The Filing claims

“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,”

The lawsuit is kind of ironic, because Samsung manufactures key components that go into Apple Products, from Displays, to microchips and even camera sensors. This lawsuit ma actually sour the relationships between the two smartphone giants and result in other tie-ups.

The new Galaxy Tab is also the strongest rival to the iPad 2 , which may have been the biggest cause for the lawsuit.
