Apple iPhone 7 will start shipping out to waiting customers on the 16th of this month. However benchmarks and performance reports have started to pile in, possibly thanks to review devices.
The iPhone 7 recently popped up on Antutu with a score of a whopping 178,397, which puts its underrated 2 gB of ram and Apple Proprietary A10 Fusion chip leaps and bounds ahead of the Snapdragon 820 paired with 6 GB of RAM and the top Android device score of 140288 on the OnePlus 3.
The iPhone 7 plus which is sad to have 3 GB of RAM is expected to score a higher result. This basically demolishes all claims that you get the choice of better hardware with an Android device. If performance is what you are basically looking for then, the iPhone 7 takes the cake.
We should see more information pop up in the coming days, close to launch and after the 16th, especially, when the iPhone 7 gets taken apart.
Apple will seed the final release iOS 10 to all those who own supported Apple iPhone and iPads. The release marks many improvements in design and performance, and is also considered to be really secure.
For those who decide agains the update will get nagging, popup windows up unlit you update. However, our recommendation for those using iPhones older than iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, is to avoid the update, as it will eventually slow down the performance on those iPhones. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus ship wit iOS 10 out of the box.
iOS 10 comes with many new features, including the new iMessage app, with digital touch, and scribble features. You will also get new design and look emoji along with stickers and gifs.
Many improvements to 3D touch, apps like Music and photos get an overhaul too. The new Bedtime mode in the Clock app will remind you to hit the sack and wake you up with a soothing sound of your choice.
Interesting new overhaul to the control centre and notifications in general along with a big boost to battery life. Apple iOS 10 will be available to all iOS devices in India by 2230 IST.
While Apple has launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and globally pre-orders are off the charts. Enough that, deliveries for phones have been pushed back into November in some cases.
Here are somethings you should know.
1. Price
Apple has launched the iPhone 7 in the United States for a price of $ 649 which roughly translates to Rs. 43000. While Apple has not officially announced the price of the iPhone in India the phone will launch for a price between Rs. 49000 and Rs. 53000 according to our sources close to launch.
2. Launch
While in most countries Apple is launching the iPhone on the 16th of September, and like mentioned above pre-orders that started on the 9th are off the charts. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will launch in India on the 7th of October. Will they be available immediately? We are unclear on that as for the moment.
3. Variants
Apple will launch all variants of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in India, however it is likely that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will not be available in the Jet Black Color at the time of India launch.
Jet Black
4. CDMA or GSM
India will get the GSM only variant which does support VoLTE and all 4G networks in India. However, there is a CDMA variant of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which works on both CDMA and GSM Networks. If you want that you either need to get the US : Verizon and Sprint variant (unlocked) or buy the iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus in Puerto Rico, Hong Kong or China.
5. Hardware and Cameras
Apple’s A10 fusion chipset brings some promise in terms of hardware boost. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus automatically become the most powerful iPhones, however, the two little cores that will help save up battery will help a great deal to extend usage time of these phones.
The iPhone 7 gets some improvements to the camera and the ability to read wide color. The iPhone 7 Plus on the other hand, gets a dual sensor camera setup. This will allow live zoom without the need of motors. Interesting take on the dual camera setup, especially since Huawei made a dual lens camera for the P9 where one shoots Monochrome, while LG made a camera setup with dual resolution cameras an 8MP and 16 MP on the LG V20
6. RAM
The iPhone 7 packs 2 GB of RAM whereas the bigger iPhone 7 plus has 3 GB of ram according to a listing on benchmarking site Geekbench. The listing also shows that the performance of the Single core is almost double that of the Galaxy Note 7.
7. Display
While the world was expecting this, Apple has not upped the display on the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus and seem to be saving that upgrade for the iPhone 7s. The new iPhones do support a wide color format seen on cinema displays. So a little improvement, but a big disappointment on the resolution.
8. Batteries
It is expected that Apple has not improved or changed the batteries in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus when compared to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, however changes in the other hardware like power saving chipsets and efficient speakers and displays, should match the performance if not improve the battery life.
9. Audio and Speakers
For the fist timer Apple, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus feature stereo speakers. The combination although a little strange is similar to what we saw with the HTC 10. One speaker points down in the traditional format whereas the other other sits in the earpiece. Apple claims it boosts the sound by more than double. Either way, louder speakers on the iPhones are a huge welcome.
By removing the headphone jack there are certain issues that will need to be faced by consumers. Wireless earphone/headphones are not the best companions for long haul journeys. While travelling over 15 hours, you will need to not only charge your phone multiple times but also the headphones/earphones. Typically, Beats Studio 2.0 wireless run 10-14 hours on battery but over 20 hours when connected with the 3.5 mm audio cable.
Possible the best solution would have been to include two Lightning connectors, but that wouldn’t work for design. So for now mostly everyone who buys the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is stuck on this compromise.
10. iOS 10
iOS 10 is one of the major factors of performance improvements on the iPhone. With iOS 10 running on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus we are already seeing more performance and battery life improvements, the “Back to” button is more refined and does not cover up the WiFi Or Signal bars. The new design features are excellent, including the new Apple Music app. The control centre is cleaner and easy to use and since the music sits separately.
iOS 10 is not limited to the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone all the way back to iPhone 5 will get the iOS 10 update.
Should you hold off buying ?
The question that most iPhone users will ask is whether they should hold of buying the iPhone 7 and wait for the iPhone 7s. In its usual cycle Apple keeps the hardware improvements for the iPhones in the “s” variants, like the iPhone 6s. However, this time around the iPhone 7 is a balanced upgrade, a bit of design change and a lot of hardware change. The problem with waiting is that technology is forever evolving and next year your question might change to “Should i wait for the iPhone 8”.
So if you want it buy one now, else, you can always opt for more options from the Android world.

India is one of the largest markets for the iPhone according to Apple, and despite the fact that the phone will not be available in current cycle Apple plans to bring it to India early October. You can get all the details of the new iPhone here .
The new Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with improved hardware and design, the phones are now iP67 rated making them out and water resistant.
Apple iPhone 7 plus has two 12 MP camera setup with one wide and one Telephoto lens allowing for 2X real zoom and 10x digital software zoom.
Apple has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack and made the included earphone work with the lightning connector. The company has also launched wireless AirPods which offer true wireless connectivity and connect using the W1 chip designed by Apple.
Apply has finally lifted the curtains off of its new flagship phone line. The Apple iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will replace the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in becoming Apple’s most selling phones.
There are a bunch of changes with the new iPhones, for starters there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, as it seems the rumours have come true. Apple has removed the headphone jack from the latest iPhones and added stereo speakers.
Design wise there are slight changes to appearance, we have a new thinner design along with a revised set of antenna lines that sit at the edges of the phone instead of twisting around the back. The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 plus get a new camera setup.
The new Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have a new IP67 rating making them officially water and dust resistant.
Hardware wise Apple has added the new Apple A10 fusion chipset, with Quad cores, which offers upto 40% more performance and 50% faster graphics over the previous generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus. The graphics are now 240x the original iPhone. Two out of the four cores are high efficiency cores that will work when no performance intensive take is running, considerably increasing battery life performance.
The Apple iPhone 7 Camera now has a f/1.8, 6 element lens with a new 12 MP sensor, a new set of color coded Quad-LED flash and a Flicker Sensor that checks ambient light flicker and adjusts the camera to compensate for that. A New Image Signal Processor does 100 billion photographic calculations in 25 ms and delivers a better contrast image. The new camera allows developers to take advantage of live photos, users can also edit their live photos. Developers will also get access to wide color RAW images which the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will now shoot.
The front gets a 7 MP FaceTime camera on both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The Apple iPhone 7 plus on the other hand, gets a new dual 12 MP camera setup, just like the LG V20 you will get a wide lens and a tele lens. Allowing 2X optical zoom and a new 10x software zoom.
Apple is also working on a new depth effect which much like the HTC One M8 from many years ago will allow the cameras to use both sensors to get subject and background mapping allowing the ISP to store images and shallow depth of field data. You will be able to live preview the effect before you click the picture , a feature that even DSLRs do not offer, this is limited to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. The depth effect will be pushed out in a software update later this year
Since Apple has removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack, the included EarPods will now have a lightning connector, and you will also get a lightning to 3.5mm headphone connector in the box.
Apple has also launched new AirPods that offer wireless audio for upto 5 hours and have a included battery case that gives an additional 24 hours of charge, which can be charged via a lightning cable. These come separate and will cost US $ 149
The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have new displays that support wide color in true cinema style, no changes in resolution. Apple iPhone 7 gets a 4.7 inch display with 1334 x 750 px resolution giving ~326ppi. Whereas, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus gets a 5.5 inch display with 1920 x 1080 px resolution and a ~401 ppi.
The iPhone 7 will now sell in 32 GB , 128 GB and 256 GB capacities (jet black will be only available in 128 GB and 256 Gb variants). The original Apple Watch will get a dual core processor and a lower price tag. The Apple Watch Series 2 will go up for Pre-order on Sept 9th and on sale September 16th.
It seems Amazon simply cannot wait for Apple to launch it’s next phone as the company takes lead on launching its new Accessories page for the iPhone 7.
You can find the page here, it clearly shows the new dual camera setup expected in one of the models of the iPhone, namely the iPhone 7+
The cases for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7+ also seem to show off new design features. You can hit the page and browse the designs for your viewing pleasure, till Apple announces the iPhone 7 in just a few minutes.
The Apple iPhone 7 leaks have shown us a changed camera module at the back, a larger bump that seems to make no sense at all. Rumours have pointed to a more refined sensor and lens setup.
A source close to the Apple iPhone launch in India, who has given us accurate information during past launches, claims that Apple will launch the iPhone 7 with new image stabalization techniques that utilise the OIS mechanism seen in previous-gen iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus along side a new tech that will leverage the processing hardware to get a stable image.
Till now Apple has given Optical image stabalization in the larger plus models of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s while the regular models shipped without any image stabalization hardware.
The new iPhone 7, however, will have hardware based image stabalization in all models, along with new camera features like post focus.
The iPhone 7 will also be equipped with a wide shot mode, which will possibly be different from a panorama, utilising the slightly curved lens setup on the iPhone 7.
While none of the above is confirmed, we will not know for sure what features the new iPhone will bring till the 7th of September. For everything we know about the iPhone 7 Click here.[button type=”link” link=”https://www.igyaan.in/130872/everything-iphone-7/” variation=”btn-info”]Click Here[/button]
Another leak of the prices reveals that the iPhone 7 base model with 32 GB storage will start at HK $ 5588 almost Rs. 48000 which is cheaper than ever before.
Price on Left is in Chinese RMB and Right is HK Dollar
Apple has been off Twitter till now, not communicating with the world through social media. But the tech giant has finally launched a Twitter account @Apple just few days ahead of the iPhone 7 launch set for September 7th.
Although Apple hasn’t tweeted anything yet, the account is verified and seems to be ready to go. From the looks of it Apple will live tweet the Apple iPhone 7, 7th September event. The company also recently updated it’s Newsroom for a more card like approach.
Apple has remained very closed about it’s press relations and the company’s approach towards marketing has been very internal and not social media friendly. With a twitter account it seems Apple is ready to change that.
Apple has set an event for the 7th of September, in the date of the event lies the clue of the launch of the Apple iPhone 7. Each year like clockwork Apple releases a revision to their flagship smartphone, and till last year their only smartphone line. The iPhone 7 is the next incremental upgrade which usually comes after Apple has already launched a “s” version of the iPhone, in this case the iPhone 6s was launched last year.
Launch
Just as mentioned above, one thing we know for sure is that Apple will launch the iPhone 7 on 7th September 2016. The iPhone 7 will then possibly go up for sale a week later. Pre orders should begin with a few hours from launch.
Design
If rumours and leaks are to be believed. Apple will launch the iPhone 7 in a design which is quite similar to that of the iPhone 6 and 6s, however there are major differences in the way that the back looks and minor differences in some aesthetics. The overall shape will remain the same the antenna lines will be moved around, a design which supposedly will improve antenna performance. The antenna bands now also look slightly neater, tucking in to the top and bottom edges instead of lapping around the back of the phone. The camera bump will also be different, a larger lens for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and a dual camera setup for the iPhone 7 Pro.
Apple is also said to be removing the 3.5 mm headphone jack in an attempt to make the iPhone more water resistant or maybe even waterproof.
Display
It is unlikely that Apple will bump up the resolution of the display or change the type of display, but the demand from consumers for an OLED display has been huge. Apple might switch up the technology but there are no confirmed reports of this. A higher resolution OLED display would also mean sacrificing performance and battery, which Apple cannot afford to do.
Reports say that Apple will switch to OLED panels in their all glass design expected in 2017.
Headphone Jack
The removal of the headphone jack has been the highlight of every leak and rumour since the iPhone 7 leaks started. Will Apple really ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7? The industry is already ready for the big change and leaks have also redied the consumers enough. Although we wouldn’t be surprised if the leaks turn out to be untrue. For now no can can say with certainty, but the headphone jack may retire in 2016 thanks to the iPhone 7.
Camera
Apple is making significant changes to the cameras on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (and possibly the Pro ), If Apple does launch three variants, expect the iPhone 7 to do large megapixel stills with 4k video and possibly Slo-mo 1080p at 240fps. The iPhone 7 may even shoot 4k UHD video at 60fps. The iPhone 7 pro is said to have a dual camera setup, this may be the same phone as the iPhone 7 plus, or may be an independent handset altogether. The dual camera could be used for any existing technology like; post focus, dedicated monochrome imaging and colour imaging. 3D imaging, or simply higher dynamic range.
Hardware
The Apple iPhone 7 is said to sport the Apple A10 chipset with the M10 motion co-processor. A huge bump in performance and graphics for this phone would be a result of this new chipset. The use of this chipset may also allow apple to bump up the display resolution if they do decide to do that.
Reports also suggest an increase in RAM, 2 GB for the iPhone 7 and 3 GB for the Plus and/or pro variant.
Storage will also get a major boost, recently leaked images of a 256GB iPhone 7 box suggest that Apple will make the phone variants either 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB or simply start at 64GB and offer two increments as 128 GB and 256 GB. Wireless charging patents and technology may exist in the new iPhone 7 however, a metal case may not allow that successfully.
The Lightning port will now have a faster charging capability according to rumours along with an inbuilt DAC for Hi-Res digital audio out for those headphones that support it. Apple may include a simple lightning to 3.5mm dongle in the box or sell it as an accessory for as much as US $ 19.
The iPhone 7 Pro is a rumoured to have the smart connector similar to the one found on the iPad Pro, for allowing connections with accessories, and possibly battery packs.
iOS
We know that iOS 10 will be launched along side the iPhone 7, so the iPhone 7 will run the said OS. The operating system is already out in BETA and has a whole host of new features and applications some of which can be seen in our video below.
Price
Apple will probably launch the iPhone 7 starting US $ 699 for the base unlocked variant with US $ 100 increments between variants. In the US on a Carrier contract expect the iPhone 7 to start at US$ 199 for the base variant.
Final Word
We also know that none of the above stands verified as facts (expect the launch date), till the time Tim Cook gets on stage and announces the next iPhone.
While the next iPhone is around the bend, Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners have sued Apple in the U.S. over faulty touchscreen controller chips that render the smartphones useless. Dubbed “Touch Disease” it seems to be rampantly affecting iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
The case alleges that Apple is aware of the technical glitch but refuses to fix affected devices. The named plaintiffs in the case Todd Clearly, Jun Bai and Thomas Davidson are reportedly accusing Apple of fraud.
The iPhones are not fit for the purpose of use as smartphones because of the touchscreen defect,”
The plaintiffs linked the problem to Apple’s decision not to use a metal “shield” or “underfill” to protect the relevant parts, as it did on versions of the iPhone 5.
Touch Disease was a tear given to the problem by iFixit who have also made the video below demonstrating the issue. A distinct flickering gray bar the appears at the top of the display near the status bar.
Earlier today Apple sent out invites to for their September 7th event where the Cupertino based computer giant will launch the next Apple iPhone, namely the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and possibly the iPhone 7 Pro.
Apple has kept this launch an invite only like most launches.
The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium will host the launch this time around, altho Apple and Tim cook wanted to use their new campus for launches, however construction is far from over. The invite reads only, “See you on the 7th. Please join us for an invitation-only event.”
If the rumours for the upcoming iPhone 7 are correct, then the iPhone 7 will shed a 3.5 mm audio jack and replace that with a dongle that will connect your old headphones to the lightning port, or simply wireless EarPods. The iPhone 7 will also be thinner and possibly have an OLED display, Apple has been sourcing them since early 2016.
The iPhone 7 leaks have also shown off new cameras both for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Pro. the latter showing up with a dual camera setup and smart connectors for accessories.
Apple will also officially launch and announce new features of iOS 10 along with a few new apps for the iPhone.
As always you will get all the required info on launch day on iGyaan.
New reports from WSJ and Bloomberg point to a new redesign of the Home Button on the iPhone’s slated for a 2017 launch. Reports earlier had mentioned an all glass design of the future generation of iPhones, and that will tie in with the removal of the physical home button .
The reports come in tied to the inclusion on FeliCa in Apple iPhones for the Japan Market. FeliCa, is a tap-to-pay standard in Japan that allows users to pay for things like mass-transit rides with their mobile device.
The iPhone 7 which will launch early next month, will however have a new redesigned tactile home button, before Apple removes it completely next year. Apple is also have said to removed the 3.5mm headphone jack and redesigned the cameras and antenna lines for the 2016 iPhone lineup due in September.
We are not sure if removing the home button will go down well with iPhone loyalists, considering the 3.5mm headphone jack removal will already hit music enthusiasts hard.
