LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition Launched With LeLe Assistant and Dual Camera

LeEco may be going through a bad financial phase, but it is not stopping the company from launching new products frequently. The new Le Pro 3 AI edition is appropriately named after the LeLe Assistant inside the phone. (LeLe ? Seriously?).

The phone runs on Helio chipsets with the Helio X23 variant with 32GB storage priced at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 17,000) and another Helio X27 variant with 64GB storage priced at CNY 2,399 (roughly Rs. 23,000). And because we didn’t have enough virtual assistants, LeEco has launched a new one with the Le Pro 3, and called it LeLe ( a name that will not do well in India). According to the company the Assistant will learn user information and practices over time and get better and better.

Made with dual 13 MP rear cameras with an f/2.0 aperture on both, while one of the sensors is a coloured one, while the other is a monochrome sensor. The camera setup has PDAF and dual-LED flash and their new Le IMAGE AI engine. The LeEco Le Pro 3 AI edition has a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, the lower variant has a 2.3GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X23 SoC with 32 GB Storage and 4 GB RAM, while the Eco variant runs a 2.6GHz  deca-core Helio X27 SoC with 64 GB Storage and 4 GB RAM.

The front has an 8 MP wide angle camera, and the phone runs on Android Marshmallow with EMUI 5.9 and has a 4000 mAh battery. The LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition will be available in a host of color options, including Rose Gold and Matte Black and at present it is only available in China, with no news of the Indian launch.

LeEco In a Financial Mess, Starts Selling Property in the US

Chinese electronics and digital content major Leeco (Formerly LeTV) is now only a year and few months after its mega launch in India in serious financial problems. The brand which propelled ahead launching product after product and spending large sums of money for marketing and rebranding has a serious cash crunch.

Co-founder Jia Yueting told employees through a letter

We blindly sped ahead, and our cash demand ballooned. We got over-extended in our global strategy. At the same time, our capital and resources were in fact limited.

Reuters claims that LeEco is setup  to sell the site which was previously supposed to be the company’s Silicon Valley HQ to Chinese developer Genzon Group for $260 million. LeEco had purchased this specific land for $ 250 Million.  The Genzon Group has confirmed that the site’s sale is currently under negotiation.

The HQ was to be named EcoCity and was being designed to house 12000 employees. However, the fate of the chinese brand seems to be the same globally. In India the company seems to have died out as quickly as it launched. In a year and few months post launch, LeEco products are no where to be found. A company that held massive launches and big events to announce the smallest of products has recently launched the 4th gen televisions on Amazon without even an official announcement.

LeEco ventured into too many things too quickly and has simply been hurt because of the lack of a clear direction. Co-founder Jia, who has an estimated net worth of around $6 billion, has reduced his yearly salary to one yuan (15 cents/ About Rs. 10). However, last year the company went on a spending spree Aquiring US TV Company Vizio and allocating a large sum for a new EV factory to produce their Tesla competing electric vehicles Pledging a whopping $ 3.8 billion to the cause.

The company’s product portfolio contains, Smartphones, VR headsets, televisions, Content, Smart Bikes, numerous Accessories, and cars.

LeEco Wants to Beat Apple iPhone 7 Pro to the Dual Camera

LeEco has been taking initiative against Apple, first be removing the headphone jack from the Le 2 and Le Max 2 phones, and now it appears they are attempting to launch a phone with a dual camera module, and will beat Apple to market with it.

A new leaked Lex720 device chassis has been spotted sporting a dual camera setup. While the idea of putting dual lenses goes many years back, including when HTC did it with their HTC One M8, no real advantageous outcome has come from putting two cameras in a phone till date.

The leak also showcases an iPhone-like Design and iPhone 7 Leaks like antenna bands. Along with a rear fingerprint scanner which is typical of LeEco.

Rumours also point that the device will feature a Snapdragon 821 and will launch end August 2016.

  • OnePlus 3 vs LeEco Le Max 2

OnePlus 3 vs LeEco Le Max 2

With the official launch of the OnePlus 3 out of the way it has really come to a point where we can discuss the two elephants in the room. The LeEco’s Le Max 2 and the OnePlus 3 share quite a lot of similarities. However, this time around OnePlus has stayed away from the Hype and launched the phone outright, no invite system and no dramas for flash sales.

    Le Max 2 4

Both the OnePlus 3 and LeEco Le Max 2 have similar unibody metal designs, along with a camera module that sits slightly jutted out. The Le Max 2 has a fingerprint sensor on the back, whereas the OnePlus 3 keeps the sensor below the front display.

    OnePlus 3 iGyaan 13

Major differences lie in the way the two companies have perceived their markets. While the OnePlus 3 will only be available for a price of Rs. 27999 for a 6GB RAM + 64 GB storage model, the LeEco Le Max 2 has two options Rs. 22999 for the 4GB or RAM and 32 GB Storage and Rs. 29999 for the 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage model.

    Le Max 2 12

The higher price on the LeEco Le Max 2 also gives you a higher resolution QHD display 2560 x 1440 pixels, the OnePlus 3 features a lower resolution 1920 x 1080p display however now has a AMOLED display, a tech they are calling Optic AMOLED.

    OnePlus 3 iGyaan 14

The LeEco LeMax foregoes the 3.5mm headphone jack but does include a adapter inside the box. The OnePlus 3 still houses a 3.5mm headphone jack which means no finicky adapters. 7.99mm thickness for the LeEco Le Max 3, the OnePlus 3 keeps it slim with just 7.35 mm.

    Le Max 2 5

The cameras are another area that the LeEco LeMax has powers, with the 21MP rear snapper OIS, 6P Lens, f/2.0 Aperture, PDAF and Quick Focus. The OnePlus 3 keeps the rear camera at 16MP with a Sony sensor, you will still get OIS and EIS along with PDAF and an f/2.0 aperture. Both cameras will shoot 4k Video at 30fps. Both phones have similar 8MP front cameras however, the OnePlus 3 has a lower f/stop with an f/2.0 aperture vs the f/2.2 on the Le Max 2.

Both phones, have dual nano-SIM slots and run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipsets have LPDD4 RAM modules and UFS 2.0 storage. Both phones have their own prop quick charge technology LeCharge on Le Max 2 and DashCharge on the OnePlus 3, both offering similar speeds.

LeEco Le 2 Shows up in Leaked Images

LeEco (formerly known as LeTV) has been making headlines ever since the year began. At CES in January, the company unveiled the first smartphone ever to sport the Snapdragon 820 chipset with the Le Max Pro. The company also set records in India with its Le 1s flash sales. Now, it looks like LeEco is working on the successor to the Le 1s, allegedly called the Le 2.

Some leaked images of an alleged Le 2 smartphone have surfaced online. The images reveal the device from a few angles. We get a good look at the surface, the back and the bottom. Talking about the top, the Le 2 has a pretty large display compared to the body size, and since the company has released phones with almost bezel-less sides, the Le 2 looks to follow the same.

The bottom reveals two speaker grilles on either side of a USB Type-C port. Over to the right you see the volume controls and the power button. The rear panel could be either metal or glass (it’s hard to tell from the images), but some reflection of light on top seems to point towards the later. Meanwhile, the square fingerprint sensor is placed in the middle while the camera module is pushed to the top left.

Rumours so far suggest that the LeEco Le 2 will sport either the Snapdragon 820 or the MediaTek Helio X20 chipset (there will be two variants), along with 4GB of RAM and a 21 MP rear camera. Nothing else is known about the device as yet. LeEco has not confirmed the same and there is no word yet on when the company plans to launch the device.
