  • LG Releases Teaser For an Upcoming Phone With an Asymmetrical Screen

LG Releases Teaser For an Upcoming Phone With an Asymmetrical Screen

Yesterday, LG released its first teaser for a new smartphone. The first thing we notice about this phone is its unusual screen. Basically it has added an additional smaller screen on top of the regular one.

Take a look at the teaser:

This feature had however, been leaked earlier in September, but this teaser confirms its existence. The leak showed the additional ticker next to the front dual cameras, and above the regular screen. This feature however, give the phone an asymmetrical look when turned off.

Nothing more has been revealed in the teaser about the new LG smartphone’s specs. However, @evleaks had previously leaked that the handset could possible arrive with a 5.7 inch QHD screen, powered by the Snapdragon 808, with an internal storage of 64GB with a micro SD card and a 3GB of RAM. It’s primary camera is expected to be a 16MP one along with a 5MP front camera.

This unnamed LG device is scheduled to be unveiled on the 1st of October, 2015.

  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow Will Release on October 5

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Will Release on October 5

According to latest leaks, Google’s most recent Nexus smartphones – Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 – will get an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade on the 5th of October. Which means those of you who own either of the devices will be updated to the new software on that date. The information was spotted by MobileSyrup in a release schedule posted by Canadian wireless carrier, Telus.

This may also suggest that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will soon be available for other Android devices as well, however, the latest Nexus smartphones will be the first to get the upgrade since they run pure Android and don’t have any carrier bloatware that needs updating along with the basic software.

    Android Marshmallow

Android 6.0 promises improved performances and new features such as ‘Now on Tap’ that provides more information by pressing and holding the Home button on whichever screen you’re on, native fingerprint support, and individual app permissions, to name a few.

We know that Google is planning to launch two new Nexus devices on September 29 – the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P – and will also run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow in addition to the last two Nexus phones. Nothing is known yet as to when the latest Android software will start rolling out for other Android devices.

  • Hacking Trouble Continues for iOS 9

Hacking Trouble Continues for iOS 9

Heads up, iOS 9 users. In what seems to be another of the many disappointing updates about Apple, it has been revealed that your photos and contact details are open to access by others in seven basic steps. This comes in wake of the recent breach of security in Apple’s iOS App Store.

    iPhone 6s 0

If you thought your iPhone’s lock code and TouchID can protect your data from hacking, it’s time to burst that little bubble with the following seven steps:

    1. The first step requires you to enter a wrong password four times on your PIN-protected Apple device which runs on iOS 9.
    2. Next, the fifth time that is, first three numbers should be entered, and then press and hold down the home button to launch Siri instantly. Right after this, enter the 4th digit.
    3. On getting a response, ask Siri for the time. Add a new Clock now by tapping on the Clock icon.
    4. Once the new clock has been added, write anything in the Choose a City field,  followed by a double tap to get the copy and paste option.
    5. Next you choose the ‘All’ option, followed by ‘Share’, and then the ‘Message’ icon in the Share option, where, once again you type anything.
    6. Now tap ‘Return’, and double tap on the top contact name.
    7. And finally, finish off by selecting ‘Create New Contact’, followed by ‘Add Photo’, and at the end ‘Choose Photo’.

And in this manner, a hacker would have gained access to your entire phone library. However, there is a way to protect your data against this. Disabling Siri on the lock screen by going to the Settings Menu is a way to prevent it. From Settings, select Touch ID and Passcode and then disable Siri. The device would now have to be necessarily unlocked for Siri to work.

While iOS 9 tries to set its feet amidst the quicksands of tech-glitches, it’s better to stay wary of hacking-threats looming overhead. Let’s see what is the next exciting piece of news we get to hear about Apple’s newest devices.

  • Design Details About LG’s Nexus 5X Revealed

Design Details About LG’s Nexus 5X Revealed

Leaks ruin the element of surprise. With leaks you get to know mostly everything about a device that is yet to be launched. We have been bringing you rumours of the upcoming Nexus smartphones for a while now with the last one being the design of Huawei’s Nexus 6P. So, continuing with the trend, we now have images released by Android Police that reveal the design of LG’s Nexus 5X.

    Nexus 5X

LG’s smartphone looks a lot more appealing than Huawei’s. While the Nexus 6P appears to have a big black bar casing for the camera, the smaller 5X has gone with a simpler look for the back with a fingerprint scanner just below the rounded camera bump. The camera and fingerprint scanner appear to be of the same size which provides a nice balance. The front of the Nexus 5X looks similar to the 6P phablet with two grilles on the front for speakers.

    Nexus 5X (1)

The 5X is expected to have a 5.2-inch 1080p screen with 423 ppi pixel density and a 1.8GHz Quallcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, with 2 GB of RAM. According to the Amazon listing the smartphone will also come with a 12.3MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera and is expected to be priced at Rs. 23,940. Amazon also revealed that the smartphone will be available in three colour variants – Charcoal Black, Quartz White and Ice Blue.

With the Google event less than a week away, we pretty much have everything we need to know about both the Nexus smartphones. Now we just have to wait for the official release of the devices on the 29th of September in San Francisco.

  • New Leak Reveals OnePlus Mini’s Specifications

New Leak Reveals OnePlus Mini’s Specifications

Today, a AnTuTu benchmark run revealed a device allegedly called the OnePlus A2301. According to further reports, this phone could be the second device that OnePlus is expected to release this year after the OnePlus 2.

    OnePlus Render Mini

The device is touted to be called the OnePlus Mini. It comes with 2GB of RAM, powered by a MediaTek MT6795T processor running at 2.2GHz and a PowerVR Rogue G6200 series GPU. It has an internal storage capacity of 32GB and also comes with a 13MP rear camera. However, the site does not mention anything about the screen size but if this is the OnePlus Mini then it will definitely be smaller than the 5 inch screen of the OnePlus 2.

    AnTuTu OnePlus Mini

It is also expected to have a 1920 x 1080p resolution, a Type-C USB 3.0 connector and a fingerprint reader at the back. The operating system according to the AnTuTu benchmark tests could be the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the Oxygen OS on top of Android. The render further suggests that this handset will also come with a 2 camera set and dual-LED flash below it.

Price wise it should be lower than the OnePlus 2, however all this information is based on the AnTuTu releases and nothing has been confirmed by the Chinese vendor itself.

  • Motorola India to Offer 2nd Gen Moto E 4G LTE Off the Shelf

Motorola India to Offer 2nd Gen Moto E 4G LTE Off the Shelf

In the midst of Chinese vendors threatening to take over Indian markets with their smartphones, Motorola India seems to be upping their game plan. This time they are creating a wider range of offline and online retailers through their distribution partner, Brightstar India for easier and wider access to their handsets.

    Moto e 4g

Some of us, still prefer going to a store and examining a product before availing of it. For this lot, Motorola will for the first time make the 2nd Gen Moto E 4G LTE available off the shelf at select Airtel stores across the country. Along with this, they are also looking towards their e-shoppers and will start offering the Moto E 3G/4G LTE, September 25 onwards, on Amazon India and Snapdeal.

“Consumers are at the heart of whatever we do and we will leave no stone unturned to enhance their buying experiences.” said Mr. Amit Boni, General Manager, Motorola Mobility India.

Oh well, Motorola does seem to be on their toes this season and hopefully they continue to do so.

  • This is the Best Look We’ve Got So Far at Huawei’s Nexus 6P

This is the Best Look We’ve Got So Far at Huawei’s Nexus 6P

Just yesterday, we brought you news of leaked images confirming the names of the new Nexus devices as shown on the retail boxes. As we approach the big Google launch on the 29th of September, the leaks are pouring out profusely. We had also mentioned that the only leak perhaps remaining is the actual look of the phones, and well, that’s exactly what the latest leak by Android Police has revealed.

Two leaked press renders of the Huawei Nexus 6P show what the phone will look like. While the first image shows the white version’s front and back, the second shows four colours the phone is expected to be available in – silver, black, white, and gold. The rendered images pretty much confirm what we’ve seen in the past leaks.

    Huawei Nexus 6P

The design shows the front-facing stereo speakers with the fingerprint scanner on the back. Not much can be said on the thickness of the phone, though there is a pretty clear hump housing the camera on the top. Google and Huawei have decided to keep a whole bar rather than just having the camera module sticking out. The black bar is a bit odd-looking, but the image seems to suggest that the bar is on the same level as the rest of the casing. However, without a 3D image we cannot be certain.

    Nexus 6P

Huawei Nexus 6P is expected to feature a 5.7-inch QHD touchscreen, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset, with 3 GB RAM, and will be available in 32 GB/ 64 GB /128 GB internal storage, and a USB Type-C port. The phone will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

We are only a few days away from the Google event and the only thing left now are leaked images of the LG Nexus 5X, which can also be expected very soon.

Upcoming HTC One A9 Expected To Arrive in Six Colours

There’s a new leak about the HTC One A9 today on Twitter from the (in)famous @evleaks account. The new leak confirms two things – the handset will arrive in six colour variants and is definitely inspired from the iPhone’s design.

The six colours will reportedly include – Acid Gold, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet, Carbon Gray, Rose Gold, and Cast Iron.

    HTC One A9 Leak

Other previous rumours about the specifications for the HTC One A9 suggest that it could come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable memory, 13MP main camera with OIS, 4MP front-facing snapper, and Android Marshmallow. All of that along with a 5 inch 1080p AMOLED display and 2,150mAh battery.

  • Apple Releases Bug Fixes For iOS 9

Apple Releases Bug Fixes For iOS 9

Last week, Apple released its latest operating system which came with its fair share of bugs and glitches to the annoyance of many. This is not a new phenomenon as last year’s iOS 8 saw perhaps the most number of bugs. However, Apple is now working quickly to remove the issues with its new update. The new iOS 9.0.1 update is ready to be installed today and it removes some, not all, of the bugs that Apple users have been facing.

Issues such as broken alarms and timers, distorted paused videos in Safari and Photos, and one the left users stuck on the ‘Slide to Upgrade’ screen, preventing them from using their device unless they rolled back to iOS 8, have been fixed with the latest update. Despite the bugs, the iOS 9 has seen the highest adoption rate so far with more than 50 percent of devices already on the latest OS. Clearly, Apple fans have not been deterred by news of users having issues downloading the OS on the first day.

    iPhone 6

The release of iOS 9.0.1 mirrors that of iOS 8.0.1 which also came out just a week after the release of OS 8, though to much ire as the second update to iOS 8 did not seem to fix bugs but rather created more. Users reported that iOS 8.0.1 was breaking cellular reception and other features like Touch ID. Apple is not looking to make the same mistakes again with this latest update.

For those who haven’t updated your iPhone or iPads yet can do so today (and after midnight in India). Do not expect all your troubles to disappear right away. Let us know if the latest iOS 9.0.1 has made your life more easier.

Samsung Will Unveil the Galaxy S7 in Two Variants

While these is still a few months before Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy S7, the rumour mill is working hard and fast to deliver news about the device. The yet to be revealed Samsung S7 will come in two variants, according to reports. The SM-G930 and the SM-G935 would follow the league of their predecessors and come equipped with their own specific features.

    Galaxy S6 Edge + plus iGyaan 14

The Galaxy S7 is codenamed Project Lucky, while the company refers to the two phones as Hero and Hero2. One of the two phones would have Exynos 8890 as its processor, while the other would have Snapdragon 820 SoC. Like the Galaxy S6, both of these phones would have UFS 2.0 storage. The South Korean tech giant may also have developed microSD card slots to work in unison with UFS 2.0, but this piece of information is yet to be confirmed.

The camera of the smartphone is expected to feature either dual-sensor setup, or a 20MP ISOCELL sensor. The display would be flat for one phone, and with a dual-edge curve for other.

After having launched the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 last month, hopes are high from the next Samsung gadgets. Let’s see how the company fares this time.

Benchmark Tests Reveal iPhone 6s is as Powerful as the Retina Macbook 2015

Watching an event and seeing the new iPhone 6s is really not the same as actually having it in your hand and unboxing it yourself. Unboxing a new phone is as surreal as ripping open your birthday gift, except you really don’t want to rip open the iPhone 6s box. So, here’s what you should do – an iPhone user named Adrienne Alpern from California, just received her all-new rose gold iPhone 6s and at the request of her friends unboxed it with care, took some cool pictures and even put the device through a Geekbench 3 benchmark test.

    iPhone 6s 0

Now reports have suggested some mighty good things about the new device. The scores from Geekbench benchmark suggest that the iPhone 6s is as powerful as the 12 inch Retina Macbook released on April 2015. The iPhone 6s has scored 2,292 in the single core test while scoring a 4,293 in the multi core test. These numbers are very close to the Retina Macbook scores. Have a look yourself :

What makes the iPhone 6s better? Well, Adrienne Alpern has also posted a couple of 4k videos showing off the 12MP rear camera and the 8MP front camera.

    Here is a video:

And even the rose gold seems to be working very well for the new device. This is all we have for you to gorge on until our own unboxing of the iPhone 6s. So stay tuned.

Xiaomi Mi 4c Will Not Launch In India

Xiaomi unveiled its Mi 4c yesterday at Rs.13,500 and after studying its specs we soon realised that it was a whole lot like the OnePlus 2 and could be Xiaomi’s unofficial response to its competition. However, unlike most Chinese vendor smartphones that eventually get released in India a little later, Xiaomi’s India rep confirmed to iGyaan that this phone will not get released in India. Despite that, let us have a look at its features since it’s OnePlus’ new competitor.

The smartphone will be available in two variants – 16 GB internal with 2 GB RAM and 64 GB internal with 3 GB RAM.

  • Leaked Images Confirm Names Of Nexus Devices

Leaked Images Confirm Names Of Nexus Devices

Just a few days ago, we had reported leaks that suggested the names of the two Nexus smartphones that will be launched on September 29 at the Google event – the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Now, some leaked images of the retail boxes confirm the names for good.

Nexus 5X and 6P Reatail Box

As you can see, the images of the retail box obtained by Android Police sport a large X for the Nexus 5X and a large P for the Nexus 6P, with what could be the Android stock wallpaper within. You can also see the Nexus logo on the bottom right while the upper left side reveals the model’s name, storage, and a silhouette of the phone.

We know that LG is responsible for the 5X and Huawei is behind the 6P. A lot has already been leaked on the specs of the phones such as  a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core chipset, with 3 GB of RAM, a 5.7-inch display; a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front for the Huawei 6P.

The LG Nexus 5X, on the other hand will feature a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, Adreno 418 GPU with 3 GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display; a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front, with a 2700mAh battery.

Rumours also suggest that the Huawei Nexus 6P will come in a 128 GB variant which is a first for a Google developed device. Both the devices will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Also, the devices are said to sport fingerprint sensors and USB Type-C ports as well.

We’re a little less than a week away from the launch of the Nexus smartphones and we have pretty much everything we need to know about the devices in terms of specs and now the names, if the leaks are all true. The only thing that remains is the look of the phones, and don’t be surprised if leaked images of the device emerge just before the event. Follow this space for more on the Google launch.
