With the current popular trends adopted by publishing companies and developers for mobile games, LEGO is probably going to turn out as another Free-To-Play game with monetisation laid inside the whole experience. As long as the monetisation strategy sticks to the background with purchases based on strictly to cosmetics and appearances and not the game disrupting Pay-To-Win strategy, the game will be warmly welcomed by people of every age demographic.

    Fallout 76 Main Theme Released

Fallout, a dark gritty open world RPG, has released their theme song for the latest instalment of the game. The Fallout 76 official trailer saw it’s release on June 10th 2018. The game trailer showed that it was based in Alabama in the countryside and played parts of a very well known song. Aptly, the trailer saw its release with a John Denver classic, “Country Roads”. • LowRes Coder App for iOS Lets You Create Your Own 8-bit Games

LowRes Coder App for iOS Lets You Create Your Own 8-bit Games

Have you ever had a great game in mind but never could get it past the idea stage because you just didn’t know how? Well, there is an iOS app called LowRes Coder that allows you to create that 8-bit game you’ve always wanted to ever since you played Snakes and Space Invaders all those years ago.

The LowRes app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch provides you the tools to program retro looking games and demos, and you don’t need to be a programming genius to do so. With this app you can be the designer and the developer. It is a user-friendly way to create your very own game and run it on a virtual game console once you’re finished.

    LowRes App (4)

The app uses basic programming language that is easy to understand. It is the “classic” language that programmers used a long time ago, and it is perfect for anyone who is keen on knowing how programming works. Consider it as a beginners guide to programming, if you may. The app uses three sound generators, 8×8 pixel sprites, 16 colours, and 64×64 pixels. It is inspired by 8-bit systems with an integrated BASIC interpreter and editor.

Have an idea? Run with it

Before you jump to a new page to start creating your codes, you need to know what to write. The app comes pre-loaded with games like Snake, Tennis, Racing, and Galaxy (some nostalgia for all). You can open any one of them and program more features into them, to make them more unique and fun. The sample lines give you an idea of how codes are written so that you can create your own game from scratch. If you’re new to programming this is a great way to learn the basics.

    LowRes App

    See what others are creating

There is a big community of amateur programmers out there who just love to make their own hopping, jumping, slithering games. The app lets you publish your games on your own profile page, which is then visible by the community.  You can check out others games and have others try out yours. Its a great way to get ideas, inspiration, and share your passion for programming.

    LowRes App (2)

    What are you waiting for?

You’ve probably got an idea of what this app does for you. And if you are the curious type, you’ll appreciate an app that gives you the potential to one day, go beyond 8-bit gaming. This app won’t turn you into coding savants, but it’ll set up the basics. The app allows you to create new games and make changes to pre-loaded ones, which is pretty neat for a free version. Even if you’re not into coding right now, the app lets you play tons of games on the community, till you get an idea of how easy it is to make them.

The free download limits the amount of lines you can use to 24 (you can do a lot in 24), however, if your dream game is a little more complex than that, you can go for the full version via in-app purchase for $2.99. You can download the app here for iOS users. Code on, people.

  • This Game Proves That Virtual Reality is The Best Thing to Happen to Gaming

This Game Proves That Virtual Reality is The Best Thing to Happen to Gaming

Epic Games, the developer behind Unreal and Gears of War has come out with a Matrix-like virtual reality shooter game called Bullet Train, designed for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The game was demonstrated at the Oculus Connect 2 conference held in Hollywood.

Bullet Train succeeds in not making one feel queasy as is the case with fast paced virtual reality action games. The game is developed using Unreal Engine 4 and uses Oculus Rift’s Touch controller for the gameplay. The Touch controllers give you “Hands” with which you can grab any nearby weapons (and there are many to choose from) and start shooting away.

    Bullet-Train

By Matrix-like we mean that players can slow down time to avoid getting hit by bullets or to catch bullets and missiles in mid-air and fling it back at the enemy. In other words, you pretty much get to play as Neo, which is what Nick Whiting, lead programmer at Epic Games was going for with Bullet Train. Indeed slow-motion is a big part of the game. The game is set at a train station and players get to frantically teleport around the station (in slo-mo), shooting wave after wave of enemies.

Teleportation is used to travel around rather than walking as it seemed like the best way to move without motion sickness. Whiting described the game as everything one could want from a simple shooter game. “You’re badass,” says Whiting of Bullet Train’s appeal. “You’re shooting people, you’re teleporting, you’re slowing down time. It’s a little bit insane. But it’s fun. And that’s what we wanted to make, because we’re a game company.”

    bullet train_02

One of the biggest selling point of this game is the ability to interact with the environment. The game provides a very life-like experience especially when you cock a gun and feel it click into place with the Touch’s haptic feedback. “We built this very physical world and then you can’t ask people not to play with it,” says Whiting’s partner Nick Donaldson.

It’s always better to see something to get an actual idea of what is being talked about. Here’s a little peek at what Bullet Train looks like.

  • Relive the Force in the New Star Wars: Uprising Game

Relive the Force in the New Star Wars: Uprising Game

The Force is getting stronger as we approach December for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And we know just how unbearable the wait can be during the final months; there is a special kind of excitement to watch a Star Wars movie on the big screen in our time.

To keep the excitement going, Disney has released a ton of Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise. You can now play Star Wars: Uprising, a diablo-like mobile RPG that is set between the events of The Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. You’ll find many moments in the game where the story intersects with the main universe.

Players will return to Hoth to see what is left of the planet post-Return of the Jedi. Players will find a ravaged wasteland, that is filled with scavengers, Wampas, ruins of the Echo base an the Rebellion/Empire’s shattered vehicle (Star Wars fanatics will understand every bit of that). Playable characters include the Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Rebel Guerrilla, Diplomat, Gambler. However, you won’t get to be Jedi and wield your own lightsaber. Sigh.

    starwarsuprisinglaserdodge

Yet there is plenty of action in this game for both fans and non-fans alike. The story will keep you engaged make you reminisce scenes from the original trilogy. While we’re not sure how much of The Force Awakens is in this game, it does provide some new details of the environment that well may be featured in the upcoming movie.

While the story has fun, humorous moments, the gameplay itself is quite repetitive, which is surely to bore players after a little while. Also, those who want the really cool skills and upgrades to do some serious galactic damage will have to buy them using Chromium (the currency in Uprising), which has to be purchased using real money.

Star Wars: Uprising is a game that works like many RPGs before. You won’t find much novelty in terms of gameplay, but for fans who could do with some wise-ass smugglers and droid-blasting, and yes, Jabba the Hutt, too, before the release of the The Force Awakens can pass some time with this game and relive the memories. • Pokémon Go: Nintendo’s First Augmented Reality Game for Android and iPhone

Pokémon Go: Nintendo’s First Augmented Reality Game for Android and iPhone

’90s kids rejoice. If you thought you had grown out of the Pokémon craze then think again. Nintendo has announced Pokémon GO, an augmented reality app for Android and iOS users that allows users to become Pokémon trainers in the real world where they can hunt for and battle Pokémon.

    604437

The app will use real-time location information that will encourage players to explore their neighbourhood, communities, find friends and rivals to play, trade, duel, and discover Pokémons together.

Let’s be honest, as kids we’ve always wanted a Pokémon game that was more than what the Game Boy offered (though they were pretty cool as well). Now, as slightly older kids we can finally live the dream.

We’ll just leave this video here for you.

Nintendo will also bring out the Pokémon Go Plus. This is a wearable Nintendo-built Bluetooth device for the wrist so that you can play the game without having to open the app on your phone. Basically this device will beep and buzz when a virtual Pokémon is detected near your area. So if a virtual Pikachu is hanging around in your backyard, the device will buzz and flash notifying you that a Pokémon is nearby and ready to be captured. All you need now is an Ash Ketchum cap and you’re ready to ‘Go’.

Nintendo has teamed up with Google Spin-off company Niantic and The Pokémon Company to develop this AR game. Nintendo has released 3D augmented realtiy games on the Nintendo 3DS. This, however, will be the first time Nintendo enters the smartphone gaming area.

The game is expected to come out next year. It is still too early to know whether Pokémon fans are ready to walk out on to the street and wave their hands and phones in the air, trying to catch Pokémon. But for now, the video sure blows us away and the excitement is real.

  • Oculus Rift’s Newest Gaming Addition is Set to ‘Explode’ Your Mind

Oculus Rift’s Newest Gaming Addition is Set to ‘Explode’ Your Mind

We all know that the coolest gaming cult to have begun, is the Oculus Rift, that takes virtual reality to another level. Everybody is talking about another world where one can actually be a part of an alternate reality and be the closest to feeling it. If that wasn’t amazing enough, there is more good news for gamers.

Oculus Rift will add a dynamic new game to it’s kitty called ‘Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.’ As the name suggests, it is a virtual reality bomb disposal game and it sounds insane. The objective is to communicate with your partner(s) and try and diffuse a bomb using codes, well within time. Only one person wears the Oculus Rift and the other person is guided by description and smooth flowing communication. Naturally then, if you snooze, you lose.

Now, imagine if you could use not just your vision, but also your hands in this game? That’s right. Oculus Rift has acquired Pebbles Interfaces, which is an Israeli based firm that specialises in gesture recognition and control. This means that, if combined, the two companies will create gaming history as one might actually see hand gestures being incorporated by games and eventually, we might even rid ourselves of joysticks and consoles. Check out the video below:

Sounds futuristic enough? We can’t wait.
