  • Apple Launch Event Confirmed for 21st March; What to Expect

Apple Launch Event Confirmed for 21st March; What to Expect

Apple has finally put an end to all the speculation and announced the date for what will be a major day for the tech giant. The day will most likely see Apple announce a couple of new products at an event held at its headquarters in Cupertino. Along with these product launches, Apple is also expected to unveil new software for its Apple Watch, and new build of the OS X.

The launch event which comes a day before the crucial hearing of the high-profile case involving the FBI and Apple. The tech giant will no doubt look to make the event on 21st a blockbuster, and gain some positive press before the case hearing the next day.

    Apple invite

The invite sent out by Apple teases, ” Let’s Loop You In”. This could be a possible reference to the unveiling of new bands for the Apple Watch, or could simply be a play on words hinting at what is Apple’s idea of keeping the world in the loop about its product launches.

The event should see Apple launch the 4-inch iPhone Se. As rumours reveal, this phone will see modern day internal hardware crammed inside the body of the older generation iPhone 5. The iPhone Se will come packing an A9 SoC, along with a fingerprint sensor and a beefed up camera. The phone in a bid to not eat up into the premium iPhone 6S’ share will stay away from bringing premium features such as the 3-D Touch display found on the 6S and 6S Plus.

Apart from the new entrant to the iPhone lineup, the company is also widely expected to unveil the successor of the iPad Air 2 or even a smaller iPad Pro to the media present at the event. Let’s just hope Apple can match up to the hype that has been created regarding this event over the past couple of weeks.

  • Apple’s Next iPad to be a 9.7-inch iPad Pro Variant

Apple’s Next iPad to be a 9.7-inch iPad Pro Variant

We’re less than a month away from the next Apple event that will see the launch of (at least) two new products – the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3. Now, while we have a good amount of knowledge about the iPhone 5se, there’s very little that we know about the iPad Air 3 apart from rumours that it will sport the latest A9X chipset along with the iPhone 5se.

Latest rumours doing the rounds suggest that the new iPad is merely a 9.7-inch variant of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It will be powered by the Apple A9X SoC, carry quad-speakers, and contain 4GB of RAM, similar to that seen in the iPad Pro. In other words, the iPad Air 3 will, in fact, be an iPad Pro, only smaller.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will support the Apple Pencil and a smaller version of the Smart Keyboard using the magnet-based Smart Connector seen in the 12.9-inch version. The new, smaller iPad Pro will be available in the same color options as the larger model (Silver, Gold and Space Gray). It also will be available in Wi-Fi (32GB and 128GB) and Wi-Fi+ Cellular (128GB) just like the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

From what these new reports tell us, it seems that Apple is beginning to blur the lines between its various tablet models. We could be seeing a new iPad that borrows the USP from the Air, Mini and Pro, combining it into one light, small, and powerful tablet. If this is the case, then the upcoming 9.7-inch tablet may just see the end of the Mini and Air, eventually.

However, the iPad Mini is still Apple’s most affordable tablet among the three, so it may not kill that off just yet unless it manages to price the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro right. It is also unconfirmed whether the smaller iPad Pro will fall under 440 g in order to fall under the ‘Air’ category as well. It begs one to question whether the iPad Air ($499 – $799) will be appealing once a more powerful iPad Pro with the same size and weight enters the market and is priced closer to the former.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be available in Silver, Gold and Space Gray and will also be available in Wi-Fi (32GB and 128GB) and Wi-Fi+ Cellular (128GB) just like the 12.9-inch Pro. The new iPad Pro and iPhone 5se will be announced at a press event on March 22.

  • iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 to Sport A9 Series Chipsets

According to latest reports, the iPhone 5se will come equipped with an A9 processor, and the iPad Air 3 will be equipped with the A9X chip. These are the same chips found currently on the iPhone 6s, the iPad Pro.

Early iPhone 5se rumours pointed towards information on the processor regarding the processor. Multiple reports suggested it to come with the A9 while others pointing towards the previous-generation A8. But latest reports from reliable sources confirms what already was expected.

    iPhone 5se

Latest reports also corroborates earlier reports about Apple planning to introduce the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 during an event in March. Previous rumors all point to this event taking place on Tuesday, March 15.

The still to be announced iPhone 5se is Apple’s 4-inch iPhone, which will be sold alongside its larger-screened flagship devices. iPhone 5se rumors suggest it will look like a cross between an iPhone 5s and an iPhone 6s, and will use the iPhone 5s body with the curved display glass of the newer device.

The iPad Air 3, will feature several design similarities with the iPad Pro. It is expected  to include four speakers, two at the top and two at the bottom, along with a possible Smart Connector for accessories and a rear LED flash, the first to be implemented in an iPad.

  • iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 to go on Sale on March 18

iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 to go on Sale on March 18

A smaller, affordable iPhone is just around the corner and fans are eagerly waiting to see the 4-inch iPhone 5se. In today’s Apple related news, rumours suggest that the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 will go on sale starting March 18.

If what the rumours are true, the sale of the devices will fall in the same week as the unveiling event which is scheduled to take place on the 15th. Though there hasn’t been any official confirmation, it looks like there will not be any pre-order period for the two devices.

The iPhone 5se will borrow the design language of the iPhone 5s and is expected to be powered by the A9 chipset, and come equipped with an 8 MP or 12 MP rear-facing camera and Live Photos. The handset will miss out on the 3D Touch feature. The display would be the same as on the last 4-inch iPhone, the 5c.

The iPad Air 3, on the other hand, is expected to feature a lot of the same features as the iPad Pro such as the Smart Connector, Apple Pencil support, and four speakers. The rear camera is said to come with LED flash – a first for an Apple tablet.

  • iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 to be Unveiled at the Apple Event on 15th March

iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 to be Unveiled at the Apple Event on 15th March

Rumours have been circulating about an Apple event slated for sometime next month which will see the company unveil the new 4-inch iPhone and updates for the Apple Watch, along with the iPad Air 3 which is also expected to make an appearance at this event.

According to reports, a new Apple Watch being launched is unlikely but news about the launch, and information regarding what to expect from the next Apple Watch when it finally arrives is surely on the cards. The existing Apple Watch is also going to receive some new band options and refreshed software.

The iPhone 5se which is going to be the big announcement at this event except for the possible addition of some extra curves at its edges, and an overall “less shiny” look will look very much like the iPhone 5s. It is expected to be priced around the $450( approx Rs. 30,000), and will be available in either 16 or 64 GB of storage. It will be powered by an A9 chip.

  • Leaked iPad Air 3 Case Images Suggests Potential Design Changes

Leaked iPad Air 3 Case Images Suggests Potential Design Changes

Apple will hold a press event in March where it will announce new Apple Watch models along with a new and updated iPad Air.  Latest update from this front comes in the form of a leaked case design for the iPad Air 3 which suggests potential design changes.

The image that appeared online shows a cut-out for the Smart Connector. Apple had introduced this feature first in the iPad Pro, to ensure stable connections with other devices. Looks like the Smart Connector could feature in the iPad Air 3 as well.

The leaked design also shows four cut outs for speakers -a feature reported only a couple of weeks ago. The cut-out for the camera on the back is also longer and bigger, hinting at the presence of rear camera flash for the device.

However, rumours that stem from cover designs should be taken with a hint of salt. Cover designs are often conceptualised and circulated without an official confirmation from the company, as is true for this iPad Air case as well.

The iPad Air 3 is expected to be launched in March, alongside iPhone 5se and the new Apple Watch variants.

  • Apple iPad Air 3 Schematics Reveal Design Changes

Apple iPad Air 3 Schematics Reveal Design Changes

Instead of an iPad Air 3 release a couple of months back, we saw the launch of the iPad Pro instead. However, recent rumours point to the possibility of the iPad Air 3 arriving early this year. And from what leaked schematics of the iPad Air 3 reveal, it could very well be worth the wait.

On the outside, the shape of the tablet appears to be similar in dimensions to its predecessors. The schematics also reveal the iPad Air 3 could be equipped with additional speakers around the tablet, similar to the ones found on the iPad Pro. The schematic shows speakers on the bottom and on the top of the device.

What will also be interesting news is that a cut out below the camera is seen which could well house a flash to complement the shooter.  The schematic also shows the survival of the 3.5mm jack on the iPad 3 Air.

  • Apple to Launch 4-Inch iPhone and iPad Air 3 in First Half of 2016

Apple to Launch 4-Inch iPhone and iPad Air 3 in First Half of 2016

Just a couple of days ago, reports suggested that Apple’s upcoming 4-inch iPhone was going to be called the iPhone 5se, which meant and “enhanced” iPhone modelled on the iPhone 5’s design language. Now, according to KGI analyst and trusted insider Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is likely to unveil the third generation iPad Air along with the iPhone 5se in the first half of 2016.

From what we’ve come to know so far in terms of specs, the iPhone 5se will be powered by the A8 chipset with the M8 motion co-processor as was seen in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

    iPad Air 2

Furthermore, the miniature iPhone will sport an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front, again similar to the iPhone 6. What the iPhone 5se borrows from the current iPhone 6s is the Live Photos feature that records a video of 1.5 seconds before the shutter is snapped and 1.5 seconds after, the result being a GIF-like video that makes it look like the photograph has come alive.

Not much is known about the iPad Air 3 at this time. The reason behind an early launch of the tablet is because a refreshed iPad Air was ignored last year in favour of the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4. We’ll learn more about the tablet at Apple’s March event.

  • iPad Air 3 to Launch Early Next Year Without 3D Touch

iPad Air 3 to Launch Early Next Year Without 3D Touch

According to popular and trustworthy Apple insider, KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPad Air 3 is set to launch in the first half of 2016. Kuo also stated that the upcoming 9.7-inch Apple tablet will not come 3D Touch capabilities.

…new iPad Air 3 in 1H16F unlikely to feature 3D Touch. We forecast that iPad Air 3 will opt not to feature 3D Touch because of production issues.

Kuo also said that the “3D Touch [is] one of the most severe production bottlenecks in iPhone 6s supply chain.” There have been no further details on the specs of the iPad Air 3 and we’ll no more as we approach the launch. It is likely that Apple will hold an event for the iPad Air 3 along with the rumoured 4-inch iPhone 6c.

Meanwhile, Kuo also states that the upcoming iPhone 7 flagship will include 3D Touch as was expected, and will have “similar technology & structure as the iPhone 6s.” The iPhone 7 launch will likely take place next September.
