Within a year of its launch, Apple’s iPad now holds over 1% share of global web browsing and a 2% share of all browsing in the US. Reports from analytics firm Net Applications’ NetMarketShare Report show that the iPad had 53 times the usage share of its nearest competitor, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and 76 times the usage share of the Motorola Xoom. When compared with the Research In Motion’s PlayBook, the iPad leaves it in the dust with a 306 times greater market share.
In the US mobile browser market, the iPad takes has a moderate 25.5% share, only trailing Android, which has a 31.6% share, and the iPhone, which has a 35.2% share. When you combine the share of the iPhone and the iPad, they come in with a 60.7% share of the US mobile browsing market. That’s almost twice the market share of Android. Blackberry came in at 6.9 percent, while Symbian, Windows Mobile and webOS are left far behind, accounting for less than 0.5 percent.
With the launch of iOS 5 and the addition of tabbed browsing in Mobile Safari, the user’s browsing experience will be brought closer to that of the Mac. This should help the iPad become more acceptable as a mobile browsing platform and gain it higher market share than it holds today.

Just as the movie releases the Game for iOS is out by EA and it delivers 13 levels of non-stop action spread across various settings, from cities like Chernobyl and Atlantic City to the Moon. Just like in the movies, the Autobots can transform between robots and vehicles.
The fight is basically between the Transformers and Decepticons You may unlock up to 13 weapons, each of which may be upgraded using blue energon cubes that you’ll be collecting as you roam about. In this same manner, you can also upgrade your character’s skills. All these upgrades may be performed between levels in the lab. In addition to the weapons, you have two types of special attacks, including one that allows you to lock onto multiple targets. You can also attack the Decepticons at close range with a melee attack button.
Although there is a lot of fighting and action involved, it just seems like the same thing over and over again. The game gets really repetitive and feels like a drag after some time.
The lack of a better storyline fails to impress us with this game.

The question haunts every smartphone buyer, “should i instead buy a tablet?”. In the past few weeks we have got over a hundred emails asking us this question.
Tablet season is here and its going to stay. When tablets were launched globally starting with the 1st iPad in the United Stated, analysts speculated that the market in India would not adapt to a tablet lifestyle. Today more than 25% of India’s mobile internet traffic is from iPads alone, another 10% from other tablets. Analyst have been proven wrong yet again, but the question still remains a Tablet or a souped up Smartphone?
A smartphone today has come a long way from what it was when the term was invented. Smart phones started off as basic day to day mobile phones that did a little bit more. A color screen, an mp3 player and customizable ringtones, a WAP browser and VGA cameras with infrared photo sharing. People were happy with these features and were shelling out Rs. 25-35 thousand for devices that were just smart.
Today you can’t be happy with what you pay for, A dual core phone, WiFi – N, Bluetooth 3.0, GBs of Ram, Multiple GBs of storage, touchscreens, slim designs, gorilla glass, unibody constructions and a whole host of Apps that do everything else. But its still not enough, we need higher spec’d displays LCD, SLCD, Amoled, Super Amoled, Super Amoled Plus and now Super Amoled Plus HD. Why is there a constant need for upgraded technology? Socially a man buying a phone always has the need to be on top of technology (This is directly proportional to the size of his, since this is a public page lets say “car”) The newer and more expensive the tech, the more a man feels like a man. Why shouldn’t we? we have a right to everything that makes us happy, and a right to get what we pay for and sometimes more than what we pay for.
A Smartphone today is the ultimate tool for a man ( student through Business men) from lectures, to calculations , wind speeds, weather info, document editing, printing , presentations, video editing, photo editing, emails, messaging everything can be achieved on a smartphone. So why should we not get one.

Tablets in the market today are essentially blown up versions of the devices we carry in our pockets, the iPad 1 matched the specs of the iPhone 4 , (infact the phone had more ram) and the iPad 2 will be dwarfed by the iPhone 5s specs. Similarly Android phones dwarf the tablets, Galaxy S2 and Sensation are far more powerful than any Android tablet in the market today.
No one can really answer that question for you, it all comes down to what you do with the device you buy. I personally hate carrying my tablet and only like to carry my phone. A tablet is useful while traveling its a multimedia powerhouse- gaming , movies, videos even basic editing work can be done easily on a tablet. I also have met and often bump into folks who like carrying a tablet everywhere even to the GYM ( seriously what are they thinking?). Upon a little investigation you find out that they spent their budget on a tablet with phone call abilities and don’t own a phone anymore.

In an ideal world a product like the Asus Padfone would be perfect. A smartphone which converts into a tablet when you need it to be one, what else could one ask for? Devices like the Padfone are going to be the ultimate tool of a technology lover, but they still have time to arrive.
If you really want to, then get a tablet and fulfill your dreams. But keep in mind that a tablet will never replace a phone and you should always have a phone handy, whether a Smartphone or a standard phone is what your budget will answer (even your day to day requirements). Carrying a tablet around as a phone will not only make you look, well how should we put it, like a “doofus”. Unless you are totally business oriented and your work calls for it. But then if you are a business man then you probably already own a smartphone, right?
According to us, tablets today are not yet there, not ready to beat a good phone. Invest in a good phone, you will get more done. A tablet is only eye candy, a large touchscreen that has been a part of Sci-Fi movies for a long time and today when the opportunity is here, everyone wants to grab it. Get one only as a secondary device, something between your phone and your notebook, as a notebook replacement even, if you don’t have much work except document editing than a tablet will fulfill your notebook requirements and look good doing it. Plus there is always the benefit of Angry Birds on a large screen.

According to several reports the Singapore Government is prepping up for boosting the joining rate for its military services. The govt. plans to provide free iPads to army, air force, and navy recruits in November. The best thing about this story is that everyone in Singapore (men who are healthy) has to serve in the military for at least 2 years. This would mean that the coming generation of Singapore population would be all (almost) holding a tablet (namely iPads).

Troops can use the iPad’s built-in camera to take photos and video clips in the field which can be uploaded to the SAF’s online platform, LEARNet. Soldiers can use these photos and videos to carry out post-mission assessments.

Apple inc. has filed a suit for the second time, against Samsung for copying the iPhone’s design. The suit claims that the Samsung Galaxy S copies the third-generation iPhone.
“It is no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging,” an Apple spokesperson said regarding case
The suing war started back in April when Apple sued Samsung claiming it copied “Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.” Samsung responded just one week later by filing countersuits.
The interesting aspect behind all of this is that Apple is currently Samsung’s largest buyer of LCD components. Go figure !

The iPad 2 Jailbreak has been long overdue. Many iPad 2 users have lost hope of there ever being a jailbreak. In response to a tweet from Whyike, jailbreak developer Comex said that ‘Its almost Ready’. There has been no information from Comex about which firmware the jailbreak will unlock.
With the release of iOS 5 around the corner, there is speculation that the release of the 4.x jailbreak would be pointless. The only thing that would make this jailbreak worthwhile is if it is a hardware related, which iOS5 would not be able to patch. The more plausable reason for it not being released is that the new iOS has patched whatever exploit Comex has found for the jailbreak.

Halfbrick Studios’ Age of Zombies is a fun dual stick shooter with varied scenery, lots of weapons and thousands of zombies, ranging from cavemen to mobsters and even dinosaurs. It’s easy to play, oftentimes funny and quite intense. The Main Character of this game is Barry Steakfries, who grabs a pistol and is ready to kill zombies, with his i don’t give a monkey’s behind attitude.
The game is set in various locations and Barry travels through time to visit Prehistoric times, the 1930s and ancient Egypt, among other locations. Killing zombies along the way obviously. SMG, shotgun, grenades, a mini gun, buzz saw and flamethrowers pop up as bonuses during the game, but only one item at a time can be selected. The default pistol has unlimited ammo, but does not always get he work done.
If you play anything like us the game will last only a couple of hours and will entertain you throughout. The app can be had for US$ 2.99 and will not disappoint, if you are looking for a fun, fast action game with zombies and blood and lots of guns. If you are not looking for this, better look elsewhere.

Now thats called innovation. The new iCard ECG uses an iDevice to monitor your heart through any clothing you may be wearing, It attaches to the back of your iPhone with a velcro strap and sends ECG data to an app on the device.
With the device attached to you iPhone just hold the mix to your chest and voila instant heart rate. Surprisingly there are already apps in the iOS AppStore and Android Market place that monitor your heart rate using the camera and flash on your portable smartphone, but those can be highly inaccurate.

Rumors abound that the iPad 3 will have twice the resolution of the iPad 2. While the current device has a 1024×768 resolution, images discovered by a person familiar with the beta release of iOS 5 have a resolution of 1536 x 2048 and have created further speculation on wheather Apple will increase the resolution on the device.
Doubling the resolution of the iPad 3 will quadruple the number of pixels over the iPad and iPad 2. This would be similar to the introduction of the Retina Display on the iPhone 4 which allowed the phone to jump from a resolution of 480x320px to 960x640px. According to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the limit of the human retina to discern pixels is 300ppi at 10 to 12 inches. The new iPad 3 display at 2048x1536px would still fall short of the ‘Retina Display’ as it would still have a pixel density of 264 ppi.
Rumors of an enhanced display for the iPad have persisted since before the release of the iPad 2, with some reports suggesting that Apple planned to include a 2048 x 1536 display on the iPad 2, but ran into last-minute “engineering issues” that prevented it.

The team from iPhoneIslam that hacked Facetime into iPhone 3Gs is back with what people though was impossible making calls from the iPad. Since the day the iPad was launched people wanted to use it as a phone. This new app allows just that but with a pretty knacker. The app costs 20$ or about Rs. 900, well worth it for converting your iPad 3G into a large iPhone.
