5G Moto Mod Certified By FCC, May Be Available For Purchase In US Soon

Motorola unveiled the 5G Moto Mod for Moto Z devices last year. The mod enabled Moto Z users to gain access to Verizon’s 5G network. Motorola did not reveal the release date for the 5G mod, however, the company indicated that the mod will be made available to all US consumers in early 2019. The 5G Mod may soon be making its way into US markets because the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has certified the mod.

    Features

It is possible that the Moto Z users in the US can get their hands on the 5G Moto Mod by the end of March 2019. However, the 5G Moto Mod will only be compatible with the Moto Z3 at the time of its initial launch. But reports say that the support for the accessory will also be extended to the Moto Z2. Data transfer speeds via 5G are expected to be 10 times more than today’s wireless technology. Also, Ultra-low latency provided by the mod will significantly bump up the VR and AR experience. Users will also be able to distribute their bandwidth over different devices via Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality of the device.

  • Redmi Note 7 Pro Leaked With 18W Fast Charging Support

Redmi Note 7 Pro Leaked With 18W Fast Charging Support

Redmi separated from its parent company Xiaomi in January to become an independent brand. It then went on to release the Redmi Note 7 the same month in China. At the launch of the device, it was hinted that the company will launch a slightly upgraded version of the smartphone soon. This smartphone was later reported to be the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Despite the leaks and the official confirmation from the company, no details about its launch date were revealed. Fresh leaks show that the Redmi Note 7 Pro has passed China’s Compulsory Certificate (3C).

The model number of the leak is similar to the one assigned to the Redmi Note 7. The slight variation in the model number suggests that the listing belongs to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Previously, Xiaomi’s President Lin Bin posted a picture with the text ‘Pro’ on Chinese social networking site, Weibo. This affirms that the launch of the device is imminent.

    Redmi Note 7 Pro

Other than the updated processor and the camera sensor, the Redmi Note 7 Pro will have the same features and design as the regular version of the device. This would imply a glass sandwich design with gradient colour scheme on the back. The display of the device will sport a 6.3-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. It has thin bezels around the display and a waterdrop style notch up top. Under the hood, the device will feature the Snapdragon 675 chipset which is comprised of an Octa-core CPU along with the Adreno 612 GPU. The handset will have many notable features brought over from the regular variant; like a massive 4000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, MIUI 10 based on latest Android 9 Pie, a USB Type-C port, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster present on the top of the device.

Despite having the same resolution, the main sensor on the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be different from the regular variant. It will use a 48MP Sony IMX598 sensor instead of the 48MP Samsung GM-1 sensor present on the Redmi Note 7. Interestingly, the Sony sensor is seen on flagship devices like the Honor View20 and the rumoured Xiaomi Mi 9. This sensor is expected to deliver a better image quality than the regular variant. Like the Redmi Note 7, the upcoming device also has a 13MP camera front-facing selfie camera. In terms of memory and storage, the smartphone is expected to be offered in the following variants:

    1. 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM
    2. 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to be unveiled in China in the last week of February. Unfortunately, details about the pricing of the device are currently unavailable. LG V50 Image Leaks, Confirms A Notch And 5G Connectivity

LG is expected to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the LG G8 ThinQ at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. Reports in the past have claimed that LG might unveil a 5G capable smartphone, presumably the V50 ThinQ, at the same event. Fresh leaks have surfaced showing the latest device from LG in its full glory. The image was leaked on Twitter and confirms many details that were speculated about the device.

    LG V50 ThinQ

The LG V50 ThinQ will be an alternate flagship by LG and will continue to exist alongside the G8 ThinQ. Interestingly, it will be one of the first devices to support 5G connectivity which would enable faster download and upload speeds. The smartphone will feature a similar design language that we last saw on the V40 ThinQ. The image reveals that the device will feature a glass sandwich design. Reportedly the device sports a 6.4-inch OLED display like the V40 ThinQ. The V50 ThinQ will run on the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC with a Qualcomm X50 modem for 5G support. The X50 modem is reported to increase the temperature of the smartphone, so it is expected to feature some cooling technology.

    LG G7+ThinQ

The leaked image also reveals that the V50 ThinQ will have 5 cameras in total. Out of them, three will be on the back and two will be housed in the notch on the front. This was the same camera setup found in the V40 ThinQ. However, the modules on the V50 ThinQ will have updated optics. Shockingly, the device doesn’t feature an In-Display fingerprint scanning technology as it has grown to be a trend in smartphones for 2019. The image reveals a regular fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. The device is expected to be available in two storage variants which are as follows:

    1. 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM
    2. 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM

The LG V50 ThinQ is expected to be priced over US $1000 (around Rs 71,000). This is due to the fact that the 5G modem is expensive to produce and install in a smartphone in its current state. Initially, the device is likely to be available in the US from the carrier Sprint in and might make its way into the Indian market later this year.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Press Renders Leaked

Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Press Renders Leaked

The press renders of an unreleased Samsung tablet have leaked online which are assumed to be of the Galaxy Tab S5e. The leak is detailed enough to reveal the complete design language of the device.

The leak was shared on Twitter and shows a metal-clad tablet with minimal bezels. Past reports have claimed that the lite variant of the Galaxy S10 will officially be called Galaxy S10e. Therefore, the Tab S5e might be a specced down variant of the Galaxy Tab S5. The images exhibit that the tablet has a sleek body and a modern design. This design of the leaked device is reminiscent of that of the Apple iPad Pro 2018.

    Galaxy Tab S5e

The image posted on Twitter discloses the design of the Galaxy Tab S5e from front, back and right. According to the leak, the upcoming tablet has a side-mounted power button that also doubles as the fingerprint sensor. In addition to the power button, the right side of the device houses a pogo-pin style connector which might be used to connect to proprietary Samsung accessories. The rear of the tablet carries the company branding, ‘Tuned by AKG’ logo and a single camera. AKG is a notable Austrian microphone and headphone company that is is now owned by Samsung. The AKG logo at the back of the Tab S5e suggests that the device will have commendable audio performance.

The front of the tablet features a large screen-to-body ratio display with minimal bezels. The icons on the lock screen insist that the tablet runs on Samsung’s OneUI, which is likely to be built on top of the latest Android 9 Pie. Assumedly, the upcoming tablet is a budget-focused device which may replace the previously launched Galaxy Tab A or just be a new entrant in the company’s tablet lineup.

  • Nokia 9 Leaked Through Android Enterprise Listing

Nokia 9 Leaked Through Android Enterprise Listing

The next Nokia flagship, the Nokia 9 has been leaked into oblivion. The smartphone has been much anticipated, mostly due to its Penta-camera setup. It was earlier leaked then announced that the smartphone will make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress or MWC 2019 in Barcelona this month. But more details about the device hadn’t been confirmed. That was until now. The official Android Enterprise listing has seemingly confirmed the existence of the  Nokia 9.

The Android Enterprise listing also confirmed some of the specifications of the device and how the device is going to look like, at least from the front. The listing seems to have been taken down now. This is the first time an official listing has been found. This confirms the fact that the launch of the device is imminent.

    Nokia 9 Specifications

The Nokia 9 is the newest flagship by the legendary brand. According to Android Enterprise listing, It will feature a 6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 px. There will be no notch or punch hole in sight, due to the bezels on the top and bottom. Under the hood, the device will have a Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is a year old at this point. What is surprising is the existence of 4GB of RAM with 128GB of Storage. This refutes the earlier leaks claiming the device will have more RAM. However, there is a possibility that there will be a variant with more RAM and storage. The device will have Android 9 Pie with Android One certification on board.

The highlight of the phone will be the five cameras at the back. It was reported last year that Light and Nokia are working on a multiple camera setup for smartphones. This seems to be it, with the Nokia 9 having the advantage of Light’s computational photography. The lenses and their specs are unknown at this point, but there is a 41MP or higher sensor expected in the device. One interesting feature will be the introduction of the In-Display Fingerprint scanner in the Nokia 9. The phone will also support NFC for mobile payments.

The Nokia 9 is expected to be followed by a 5G equipped, Snapdragon 855 featuring model later this year. The pricing is not known yet, but expect the device to have a high price tag. The smartphone is expected to arrive in India a few weeks after the official launch at MWC.

Nubia Might Show Off Its Foldable Smartphone At MWC 2019

The Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest technology events that happen all year. Many companies get a chance to show off their next revolutionary idea or concept. This year too at MWC 2019 in Barcelona, it is expected that the focus will all be on two things. One is 5G and the other is Foldable smartphones. It is all but confirmed that Samsung and Huawei will showcase their foldable phones at the event. But there is another company that is now confirmed to make an entry as well. Nubia, the Chinese smartphone maker is all set to showcase a foldable smartphone.

Nubia started as a ZTE subsidiary, became an independent company a while ago. The official account of Nubia Smartphones sent out a tweet saying “Flex Your Life”. It is not clear what the brand will showcase at the event, but it may be the Nubia Alpha shown off at IFA last year. It may be that the device is an entirely new product altogether which we currently don’t know much about. There hasn’t really been a leak for a foldable smartphone Nubia is working on, so it may be only the Alpha at the event.

    Nubia Foldable Smartphone Specifications

Nubia Showcased the Nubia Alpha last year at the IFA. The Alpha may or may not make it to the MWC this year. But the foldable smartphone is expected to be a flagship level device. The device is expected to have a Flexible-OLED display, which can fold into half at will. The smartphone may also run on the latest Snapdragon 855 coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM.

Also read: Limited Edition Galaxy S10+ With 12GB RAM To Be Available On March 15th

In terms of optics, Nubia could use a dual camera set-up on one side to function as a main and selfie camera. The Nubia foldable smartphone is also expected to be expensive. Rumors say that it can reach up to a price of $1000. Manufacturing of foldable smartphones is expensive and may have a high cost for the early adopters. The device may launch later this year with all the bugs ironed out.

  • Google Pixel 3A Spotted On Geekbench

Google Pixel 3A Spotted On Geekbench

Google Pixel is a range of consumer electronic devices developed by Google that run either Android or Chrome operating system. Late last year, the company launched its third iterations of the Pixel smartphones in the form of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Soon after the launch of the devices, the internet was flooded with news about affordable variants of the same. Previously a hands-on video of an unreleased Google device, allegedly the Pixel 3 Lite was exposed online. Unfortunately, that device has not seen the light of the day till now. Another low specced variant of the Google Pixel 3, the Pixel 3A has been spotted on Geekbench revealing its key specifications.

    Google Pixel 3A Specifications

The Geekbench listing was first uploaded on 10 February and it clearly specifies the name of the device which is Google Pixel 3A. The device packs the ‘MSM8953’ SoC which is the codename for Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. The chipset comprises of an Adreno 506 GPU and an Octa-Core CPU which has the base frequency of 1.8 GHz.

In terms of memory, the Google Pixel 3A has 2 GB of RAM which is likely to be paired with 32 GB or 64 GB of inbuilt storage. Like past Pixel smartphones, the upcoming device is also assumed to miss out on the option for memory expansion via an external card. Noteworthy, the Google Pixel 3A gets a single-core score of 732 points and a multi-core score of 3184 points.  Although the scores of the upcoming Google device seem unimpressive, it is noteworthy that Pixel smartphones run on vanilla Android and have no bloatware applications installed. Therefore, the device can work well in terms of real-world performance.

When Apple launched the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and the iPhone X with wireless charging, they introduced another device with it, the Apple AirPower. The wireless charging mat by Apple was seen as an integral part of the Apple ecosystem. Now that most Apple products charge wirelessly, a product like AirPower could prove very useful. But it had been more than a year and we didn’t hear about the AirPower since. That is until now. It is reported that the AirPower has been leaked and will launch this spring.

The report seems official as it also claims that the advertisement shoot for Apple AirPower has already begun. This gives weight to the rumors that the AirPower was supposed to be launched in the first half of 2019. Along with that, it is also claimed that AirPods 2 are also making their debut this year. They will have deeper bass and look similar to the last model. It was reported that the AirPods 2 will arrive with great new upgrades over its predecessor. They will support hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ command and will have some more sensors to track health features.

    AirPods 2: New Features

The Apple AirPods 2 are reported to sport an identical size as the last one. They would also look very similar to the original AirPods. They will have an improved internal design to provide more bass, something which was lacking in the first generation. Airpods 2 will also have wireless charging and have new sensors which will track some key health features. This may include heart monitoring and step count. The battery life will be identical to the first one. The texture will be similar to Google Pixel 3 to improve grip. This grip may also be used in the next generation of iPhones.

The AirPods 2 and the AirPower are not expected to debut together, which is unfortunate. Apple will reportedly also release a wireless charging case for the first-gen AirPods. The AirPods 2 are expected to arrive later this year. As far as pricing is concerned, the AirPower is expected to cost around $150 (Rs. 10,674) and the AirPods 2 are expected to retail at $200 (Rs. 14,233).

Apple Working On A Secret 5G Chip, Claims Patent

The MWC 2019 will kick off soon in Barcelona in a few days. It is expected that a lot of new and unique technologies will make an appearance. The technology that most people are excited about, is the introduction of 5G. It is expected to enable faster mobile data and improved connections over mobile. Most smartphone manufacturers also have promised a device that will support 5G. One company that hasn’t is Apple. It is expected that Apple is not attending the MWC 2019 nor will it launch a 5G device in 2019. But rumors have started to rise up again as a 5G technology patent by Apple has been leaked.

Apple has been silent about its stance on 5G and iPhones that will eventually support it. Apple has been known to patiently wait until a technology achieves near perfection to implement it. But this patent leak proves that Apple is working on some 5G technology secretly and has named it ‘Apple Bald Eagle 5G’. The patent was filed earlier this month at the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property or BOIP.

    iPhones With 5G in 2019?

Apple was earlier reported to skip the 5G hype bandwagon and wait until 2020 to implement it. It was attested to the fact that it would use Intel’s 5G modem in the 5G compatible iPhone. However, as Intel will not be able to supply the large number of Chips required by Apple, The implementation was expected to be pushed to 2020.  This patent leak suggests that Apple has been trying to make one on their own. This would also mean that Apple may be able to launch a 5G compatible iPhone in September 2019.

The description offered with the patent said ‘Mobile telecommunication network services’. Apple has used the logo of the American Flag and its national symbol, the Bald Eagle combined with Apple Logo. This may be due to the fact that Apple is an American company and may name its modem after the national symbol.

Apple doesn’t implement a piece of technology until it has been perfected for use to the general audience. So even if Apple decides to wait out till 2020 for 5G, it may be for the best.

  • The Google Pixel 4 To Have Improved Dual SIM Support

The Google Pixel 4 To Have Improved Dual SIM Support

The Pixel series has been known for their stellar camera performance and stock Android. The Pixel series also has been called the iPhone of the Android world because of their simplicity. But last year, when the Apple iPhones were announced with Dual SIM connectivity in certain markets, Google had nothing similar to offer. Looks like this is all going to change as the Pixel 4 is reported to have improved Dual SIM functionality.

The Pixel devices theoretically support Dual-SIM, when the Pixel 2 launched with eSIM in 2017. The phones have an in-built SIM and can take an additional SIM card separately. The problem with that was, that only one SIM could function at the same time. This made the feature rather useless.

The Need For Dual SIM Devices

Dual SIM has been one of the staple features of budgets smartphones in developing countries. It also has recently been making it to some flagships like the Huawei, Samsung and LG devices. The feature has recently made its way to the newest iPhones that were launched last year. It was available for users in countries like China and India. The feature used one eSIM and one nano-SIM card to function.

Dual SIM is a great feature for people who travel a lot, which makes great use for keeping one number for the place you’re traveling to. The feature has been already present for the longest time in almost every budget smartphone in India and China. It is great that companies like Apple and Google have finally started to give this feature their much needed importance. The feature saves a lot of hassle and saves the headache of carrying two devices.

The Pixel devices are expected to launch in October, and with Android Q and Dual SIM on board, this already looks like a good upgrade over the Pixel 3. The new feature may also increase the price of the devices, making them more expensive.
