After releasing the Moto G6 Play, the Moto E5 Plus also targets the same price segment. The factors setting the E5 Plus apart are a bigger battery and a slightly bigger screen at 6 inch display compared to the 5.7 inch display of the G6 Play.

    [section label=”First Impressions”]

The Moto E5 Plus looks a lot like the G6 when you take the device out of the box for the first time. Even with a plastic built, the E5 Plus gives off a subtle shimmer when put under a direct light source giving it a premium feel. The smartphone is expected to release in two color variants namely, Black and Fine Gold.

The E5 Plus has a plastic body with a mirror-like finish for the rear panel. Surprisingly enough, Motorola still hasn’t opted for the notch trend. Regardless the phone maintains the 2018 display aspect ratio. The Moto E5 Plus has a 6 inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The aspect ratio of the display is set to be 18:9 given that the phone has no notch.

On the right side of the phone, you will find the volume rockers and a textured power button which sets it apart from the volume rockers. To the left is where you will find the SIM tray. The bottom panel houses the Micro USB charging slot and the primary microphone. The top of the phone has the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the secondary microphone.

The E5 Plus runs on a Snapdragon 430 SoC under the hood which is an octa-core processor running at 1.4 GHz. The smartphone will be available in one variant only, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage with a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion. The fingerprint sensor on the Moto E5 Plus is rear-mounted and has the Motorola logo embossed into it giving the sensor a unique look.

The Moto E5 Plus has a single primary 12 MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture which allows you to shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The secondary camera will be a 5MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture with a front-facing LED flash. The US version of the device will have an 8 MP secondary sensor.

    [section label=”Conclusion”]

The Moto E5 Plus has a lot going for it. It has an impressive battery and it looks premium. However, at a price of Rs 11999, the Indian market already offers devices like the Realme 1 and Asus Zenfone Max Pro. The Zenfone Max Pro, in fact, also has a 5000 mAh battery all the while running on the Snapdragon 636 chipset. The E5 Plus, without a doubt, has stiff competition in its price category. We will be putting the E5 Plus through its paces for the full review so stay tuned to iGyaan for that.

The Moto E5 Plus enters a market segment where smartphones like the Asus Zenfone Max Pro and the Realme 1 are already available, while the E5 Plus has a glass finish over a plastic body. • Motorola’s Virtual Reality Headset MotoMod Leaked

Motorola’s Virtual Reality Headset MotoMod Leaked

Motorola and its high-end Moto Z series are known for their modularity. The Moto Z smartphones are compatible with all the MotoMods that the company has launched. The Mods attach to the back of the smartphones like a lego to add extra functionality. Mods like a JBL speaker, Hasselblad camera Mod also comes with their own battery. In fact, these Moto Mods works fine with both the generations of Moto Z devices.

    Virtual Viewer MotoMod

An upcoming MotoMod, which is similar to the Google Day Dream VR headset has been leaked online. This could be the first VR centric mod from the company. However, things are not very clear and there is no information on the specifications.

The round camera cut-out is similar to the one that we have seen in all of the MotoMods. The Mod has an opening on the right and the left side, which should help for the sliding mechanism. The camera cut-out might hint towards the AR capabilities of the Mod. However, the leak does not suggest anything about its functions, capabilities, or even the pricing.

    MotoMod

A recent report has claimed that Motorola will only focus on mods that are profitable. This means that niche mods like the gamepad or Polaroid camera might be scraped off. However, virtual reality has recently picked up the pace which means that the Moto Virtual Viewer makes sense for the company. There is a lot of VR content available now. However, the pricing will be key to the success of this MotoMod.

  • Moto G6 Specifications Leaked

    Moto G6 Specifications Leaked

The recent leaks and rumours about the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus are hinting towards the launch of these phones at MWC 2018. However, the company has not made any announcements pertaining to MWC 2018.

The upcoming Moto G devices are expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio. In fact, these will be the first few smartphones from Motorola to feature a modern design with thin bezels.

    Credits: Geekbench

The Moto G6 was spotted on Geekbench, revealing some of its specifications. The Geekbench listing reveals that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-core processor with the base frequency of 1.8 GHz. The phone scores 709 points on a single core and 3582  points for the multi-core performance.

The only chipset that matches the above equation is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. This seems accurate considering the Moto G5 was launched with the Snapdragon 430 chipset. However, these are still leaks and nothing can be said concretely.

    Specifications:

The Moto G6 is most likely to have a 5.7-inch 2160 x 1080p IPS LCD display. Under the hood, the smartphone, as mentioned in the listing, will be powered by the Snapdragon 450 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The Moto G6, in all probability, will run Android 8 Oreo out of the box. However, considering the recent behaviour of other OEMs, it won’t be surprising to see the Moto G6 running Android 7 Nougat. The device is expected to feature a 3000 mAh battery with Turbocharging capability.

The device will have a dual 12 MP + 5 MP primary cameras with an 8 MP front-facing camera.

    Conclusion:

Motorola has been doing well in the Indian market. In fact, its smartphones like the Moto G5s Plus and Moto G5 Plus are some of the best selling smartphones. However, the competition in the budget segment has increased since the launch of the likes of Honor 9 Lite and Redmi Note 5 Pro. Therefore, the Moto G6 and its siblings need to have their pricing spot on to compete in the Indian market.

  • Moto X4 Leaked In Live Images

Moto X4 Leaked In Live Images

Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to unveil the Moto X4 soon. It was anticipated to release along with the Z2 Force, but, that didn’t happen. Since then, the rumours of the Moto X4 have picked up significantly and the latest leak all but confirms how the X4 will look and the what the camera setup will be.

A dual-camera setup was widely anticipated and the leaked images confirm that. The images were leaked by Brazilian telecommunication agency, Anatel, and showcase the smartphone from all angles. The front of the device follows the design of new Moto phones with a front facing flash and an oblong fingerprint sensor. There is, however, a noticeable curve around the edges for a more ergonomic fit in the hands.

The bottom of the phone houses a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port which suggests that it might support fast-charging. The right edge of the device houses the lock button and the volume rockers while the hybrid SIM tray sits on the left edge. On the back of the smartphone is the dual-camera setup with an LED flash sitting above them. There were rumours of a metal frame and these images show a metal frame with antenna lines at various increments around the edges.

  • From the Moto G5 Plus to The Moto G5S Plus – What Has Changed?

From the Moto G5 Plus to The Moto G5S Plus – What Has Changed?

Lenovo-owned Motorola just announced the Moto G5S Plus, successor to its popular mid-ranger the Moto G5 plus. Priced at Rs 15,999, the Moto G5S Plus is at par with the Moto G5 Plus which is priced at Rs 14,999.

The Moto G5 plus, like its predecessor the Moto G4 Plus has superior camera performance especially considering its price point. Add to that, an all metal design and fast user experience thanks to Motorola’s stock-ish take on Android 7.0 made the Moto G5 Plus a success.

    Moto G5 Plus

Motorola has decided not tinker with the design of the G5S Plus and it is reminiscent of the G5 Plus with the addition of antenna lines on the top and bottom of the back. The G5S Plus gets the same 1920 x 1080 px display but a bumped up display size of 5.5-inch. The fingerprint sensor sits below the display and can double up as a single-navigation button as well and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The highlight of the new device is the 13MP dual-camera setup with an f/2.0 aperture. The dual camera captures Bokeh, and selective focus shots, along with other capabilities of background replacement and exposure management.

The G5 Plus became the phone to beat in its price segment because of superior camera performance when it was launched earlier this year and the G5S Plus will enter the market with high expectations. How does theG5S Plus stack up against the G5 Plus? Let’s find out.

The Moto G5S Plus will enter the budget smartphone segment which already has big players like Xiaomi and Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor. Motorola’s focus on the camera performance suggests that it has identified a  certain section that rates camera performance highly and on a budget, and the new G5S Plus’ camera performance may just decide its fate in the highly competitive price-segment.

The spec-bump other than the camera is nothing to ride home about. Although the Moto G5S Plus will feature a dual-camera setup, the aperture is now f/2.2 which may effect low-light image quality. How the Moto G5S Plus performs in the real world is yet to be seen and a camera comparison with the G5 Plus will be an interesting one. Stay tuned on iGyaan for more updates.

Motorola announced the opening of its retail stores “Moto Hub” at the Great India Place Mall, Noida today.  Six MotoHub stores were established across the country – 3 in Delhi and 3 in Mumbai. The offline stores are expected to strengthen Motorola’s offline presence in India and enhance the customer base.

  • Moto X4 Price Leaked Ahead Of Imminent Launch

Moto X4 Price Leaked Ahead Of Imminent Launch

Lenovo-owned Motorola’s much-anticipated fourth generation Moto X device will reportedly cost around EUR 350 (approx INR 26,500). Moto X4 was expected to launch with Moto Z2 Force but that was not the case, unfortunately .

Interestingly, the reported price is in the same region as the previous devices in the X line-up. The price leaked is for the 32 GB storage variant suggesting the Moto X4 may only launch with one storage capacity. The Moto X Style which was launched back in 2015 at a similar price of INR 27,000.

Moto X devices have been well received in the past and the Moto X4 was widely expected to be launched along with the Moto Z2 Force. There have been leaks aplenty about the Moto X4 just like the rest of the smartphones on the face of this planet. Rumours suggest a 5-inch full HD display. The Moto X4 will also run Android 7.1.1 out of the box and house a respectable 3,800 mAh battery.

In addition, it is rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon 630 SoC, and launch in 3GB RAM/32Gb storage and 4GB RAM/32Gb storage variants. The camera is rumoured to be a dual-lens setup, with a 12-megapixel primary and an 8-megapixel secondary camera at the back along with a 16 megapixel selfie shooter at the front of the device. Rumoured to have an IP68 rating makes the Moto X4 an interesting entrant to the sub-30k category where it competes with the mighty Honor 8 Pro. QuickCharge 3.0, NFC and hopefully all the important sensors are expected to make it into the smartphone setup on the Moto X4.

The sub-30k category once dominated by Oneplus and Xiaomi has opened up since Oneplus 5 was released with a 32,999 price tag for its 6Gb RAM/64GB storage variant and Xiaomi’s last true flagship launch was the Mi5 last year. Moto X4 will compete with Honor 8 Pro’s flagship specs but a heavily skinned EMUI with its stock-ish Android experience and mid-range specs. Do you think the Moto X4 will be able to make a mark in the Indian market?

  • Moto Launches Moto Z2 Force With Shattershield Display

Moto Launches Moto Z2 Force With Shattershield Display

Lenovo-owned Motorola has launched its flagship for the year, the Moto Z2 Force with a shatterproof display technology. With a lot of high-end specifications, the 2nd-gen Moto Z phone will be the flag-bearer for Moto this year. It goes on sale in the USA on August 10th and is already available for pre-orders.

Moto Z2 Force has got the hardware to compete with any flagship device this year with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. It has Android Nougat out-of-the-box with a promised update to Android. Let’s just say, pretty standard stuff for an expensive 2017 flagship device. The USP of Moto Z2 Force is three-fold. It has a shatterproof display that won’t crumble after a few regular drops thanks to a shatter-resistant coating on the display. Next up are the Moto Mods, which is why the design and the feel of the phone have been retained, except that it’s much thinner now thanks to a 2,730 mAh battery. The previous gen Moto Z had a 3,500 mAh battery, so to ship a new phone with that big a slump in battery size, just to make it thinner seems like a tricky decision. What’s also missing is our beloved 3.5mm headphone jack, so if you’re still living in the good ol’ days of wired headphones then you need to either make a shift to the wireless universe or live the dongle life, a USB C dongle is included in the box. Another significant change is the camera setup. It now has a dual-lens camera setup with dual 12MP sensors with an f/2.0 aperture. One camera shoots in monochrome, and the other shoots in colour, similar to what we saw on Huawei devices and recent Nubia M2. The Z2 Force also has laser AF, phase detection but no mention of optical image stabilisation. Similar to Apple’s portrait mode, the dual-lends setup has allowed Moto to implement a depth-of-field effect on the Moto Z2 Force.

The Moto Z2 Force doesn’t have the edge-to-edge display from the Galaxy S8 or a huge / relatively large battery one would expect, but with a price tag of $720 (roughly INR47,000), it competes with the big boys of the current flagship market aka the Samsung Galaxy s8 and its bigger sibling the S8+, Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 plus. The release date in India has not been specified and it is likely that the phone may not launch in India at all as the company stayed away from the Force variant last year.

  • Moto G5S Plus Specs And Image Leaked

Moto G5S Plus Specs And Image Leaked

Motorola has been keeping up appearances in the smartphone world. With the recent launches of Moto Z2 Play, Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus , Motorola has another event lined up.  The rumored launch event on 25 July 2017 is reported to unveil the next lineup of Motorola smart phones.

While there have been many rumors about the yet to be launched Moto G5S Plus, a newly leaked case image reveals that the Moto G5S Plus is more likely to sport a dual rear camera setup. According to reports, the camera setup features two 13 MP sensors — one color and one monochromatic.  Whereas the earlier model Moto G5 Plus had a single 12 MP rear camera.  Reports suggest, the dual camera arrangement will offer the advantage of some new features like bokeh ( depth feature), background replacement and selective black-and-white filtering. Recent leaks show that the Moto G5S Plus will have an aluminum chassis, giving it a more premium look.

In comparison to its earlier variant the Moto G5 Plus, which has a 5.2 inch screen, the new Moto G5S Plus is likely to feature a slightly bigger 5.5 inch full HD display. The leaks also showcase an 8 MP front camera, an upgrade to the standard version’s 5 MP front shooter. As per the rumored details, the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The Moto G5S Plus is expected to launch with 4GB RAM and 64 GB of storage. The phone is set to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

The recent rumors suggest that the Moto G5S Plus will see the light of the day on July 25 in New York.  The event is also expected to launch Moto Z2 Force and the Moto X4 alongside the Moto G5S Plus. The much anticipated Moto G5S Plus is expected to be available in India in early August. It is expected to be priced slightly higher than it’s predecessor by approximately INR 2000.

OnePlus Just Blatantly Copied Moto’s Advertisement

Yesterday OnePlus posted a media on their social media platforms showing the OnePlus 5 in a grey colour with the 50 Shades of Grey tag “Mr. Grey will See you now” with one small change, with the word “grey” spelt “Gray” which is a more American way of writing the word.

This image seems to be an exact copy of an image Moto tweeted for the “grey” Moto M. While the meme for “Mr. Grey will see you now” is a popular and open concept. It seems that not only did OnePlus get inspired by the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus as far is design is concerned, the company is also seeking inspiration in creative campaigns for social media.

The OnePlus 5 was launched on 22nd June in India, and was highly criticised for its design which looks similar to the iPhone 7. The OnePlus 5 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and features 6-8 GB of RAM. The OnePlus 5 also has a dual camera setup on the back which has been laid out much like the iPhone 7 plus.

Motorola’s next X series phone the Moto X4 has leaked in images with detailed specifications. Prolific leaker Evan Blass has leaked more information on the Moto X4 including images and branding.

The Moto X4 will bring IP68 certification to Motorola’s portfolio, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset with an Octa-Core CPU running at 2.2GHz, with a 5.2 inch full HD screen, and 4GB of RAM with a 64GB internal storage along with microSD storage.

The Moto X4 will have a 3,000mAh battery capacity along with TurboPower charging. The Moto X4 has two rear cameras, one of which is 8-megapixel and the other 12-megapixel. With the capability to include a “Portrait” mode much like that on the OnePlus 5 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The Moto X4 will also have a front fingerprint sensor which will also support gestures which allow users to remove the on screen buttons. The Moto X4 will run Nougat out of the box with Android 7.1 along with no customizations from Moto, except the Moto App features.

However, another leaker Andri has shown images of a phone with a Dual Camera setup, with the LED flash above the lenses not below. The second phone also appears to have a 3800 mAh battery, could this be the Moto X4 Plus?
