With a lot of smartphones now showcasing their 4K video recording capabilities, we decided to evaluate the best for 4k video. After extensive testing, we chose the Motorola Moto Turbo for our video.
The Moto Turbo has a high speed 64 GB inbuilt storage which lets you capture 4K footage non stop vs most of the other devices which have a maximum peak of 5 minutes or so and are prone to over heating.
We took the Moto Turbo and retro fitted it on to a drone , a DIY hack of massive proportions. Before we proceed with the details further, Flying a Drone in India without permissions is punishable by law and get you jail time or large fines. Now that we have the disclaimers out of the way, We took the drone out in New Delhi and took it to the Sky.
The Ballistic Nylon back of the Moto Turbo gave us a hope that if the phone did fall from our Zip-tie DIY hack, it would land on the back and be safe (although, that did not happen). What happened next simply blew us away. Check the video below.
Note: The Video has been post-processed, sped up, stabilized in certain places and the night shots have been enhanced.

After a successful launch of its 4G services in Chennai last month, Airtel is bringing its services to Delhi. Chennai was last to join the roster of 19 cities where Airtel is currently offering the services, some of which include Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
In an official email, the company stated that Airtel has launched trails exclusively for its customers in Delhi/NCR. As a part of the trial, Airtel has also offered a complimentary upgrade to 4G services at 3G price rates. Customers in Delhi will be experiencing faster speeds and wider network coverage because the system is integrated with FD and TD 4G network.
In an attempt to get more customers on board to experience the new superfast connection, Airtel has also announced partnerships with Samsung and Flipkart.
Airtel 4G services will allow users to enjoy HD video streaming effortlessly with almost zero buffering time. The company maintains that one can download ten movies in less than 30 minutes, upload albums in less than 5 minutes and connect multiple devices without any limitation.
To avail the complimentary 4G upgrade – existing Airtel customers with 4G ready mobile devices can walk into their nearest Airtel Store and switch to a 4G SIM.
Internet in India is slow, we all know that. In fact, it’s the slowest amongst all its contemporaries. It’s a shame that even with an economy as big as India, internet, the basic necessity to compete in the 21st century market is available at dismal speeds. A new report from F-Secure states that New Delhi, the capital of India is the worst place to connect to the internet.
F- secure, the Finnish computer security company has come out with its “The State of Internet in India” report. It states that the Indian capital ranks on the top of the ranks of most infected computers. The city has 20 percent of all the infected systems in India. Following Delhi, with 9 percent each is Chandigarh and Hyderabad and with 7 percent is Chennai.
One of the reasons cited for these high levels of infection is the use of pirated softwares that are often tainted. Botnets were found to be one of the major infections affecting the systems across the nation. Hackers use Botnet to take control of PCs and use them for their malicious intentions such as spams or DDoS attacks. The lack of computer awareness amongst users is also seen as a cause for the high levels of infections.
Smartphones are also at risk of these attacks. Mumbai with 22 percent tops the chart in smartphone infections and following it, of course, is New Delhi. The major malwares in the Android ecosystem are Android/SMSSend and Android/FakeInst. These malwares send malicious SMS to the contacts of the user and thus multiply. Another malware called Android/SMSreg gets on the system when the user connects to free wi-fi. Hackers can gain access to all the personal information including GPS location, IMEI number, network operator, package name and SDK version.
All of this point to the fact that Indians are in a desperate need of a safety and security lesson when dealing with the digital market. We need to get more serious in terms of cyber-security and tackling malware. In the digital economy, the threats will be digital too, so preparedness needs to be the biggest priority.
At its press event in Delhi, Mr Gautam, Head of mobility division, HCL, revealed that they are working on a tablet, called the Y2, with a 7″ screen which would have WifI+3G capabilities. Not much details were given but we were told that the device would surely be launched in August. It would be HCL’s third tablet device (all 7″) and would be targeted at the Rs 8000/- price range. It would most probably run on ICS.
Currently HCL have an overall market share of 18% with around 3000 retailers.
City’s autorickshaws may finally get fitted with GPS from March. DIMTS, the agency in-charge of the project, has been asked by the transport department to empanel vendors who will supply the GPS devices to three-wheeled scooter rickshaws (TSRs). The process should take about a month after which the Govt will be in tune to install the devices. Meanwhile, the authorities are working on a comprehensive auto-rickshaw policy for the addition of 45,000 new autos as part of a court directive. These new rickshaws will all be pre fitted with gps enabled meters for accurate tracking and billing.
We will have to issue a notice giving details of the specifications vendors need to meet. Their applications would then be evaluated by us and the entire process is likely to take 40 days. Auto-rickshaw owners can then get the GPS fitted from these authorized vendors”
-DIMTS official
After the whole process is complete, which is expected to take another 6-9 months. A total of 1 Lakh traffic law violating AutoRickshaws will ply on New Delhi streets. Although all of these will be equipped with state of the art meters, a real resolution to the growing traffic menace is still awaited.

Samsung Notebook Series 9
The Samsung Notebook Series 9 marries innovative design and performance for a new dimension in mobile computing
The Samsung Notebook Series 9 is a premium notebook for consumers who pursue the best of everything: design, performance and usability. With a weight of only 1.31kg (2.89lbs.), measuring only 16.3mm (0.64inches) in depth and with a screen size of 13 inches, the Samsung Notebook Series 9 combines the latest technology with mobile computing experience to drive the market forward in terms of design, display and overall capabilities.
Crafted from duralumin, a lightweight material that is twice as strong as aluminum and normally used in advanced aircraft design, the Notebook Series 9 underwent an exhaustive testing process to ensure it is durable enough for use at home and on the go. In terms of design, the sophisticated beauty of the flowing line on the side of the Notebook Series 9 is a key design concept that gives it an aerodynamic and sleek style much like a premium sports car.
Additionally, the notebook’s SuperBright Plus display with 400nit brightness, which is two times brighter than conventional displays, as well as its vibrant Color reproduction (16 million colors) and Super Contrast ratio (1,300:1), makes it one of the most beautiful notebook displays on the market.

The HTC Incredible S is HTC’s latest and greatest, But, does it really fit that mark? Lets find out.
HARDWARE AND BUILD QUALITY
The device features one of the most robust constructions yet, a rubberized body , is not only rugged but also the new in-thing. The device is great to hold in the hand and feels really good thanks again to the rubber grip backing. It also sheds some of the added weight that the Desire HD has. No squeaks or rattling from the device. Better buttons in comparison to the Desire HD and a nicer looking display with rotating menu buttons. The build quality is surprisingly good and we were happy with it.
Tech Specs
Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 1GHZ
768 MB RAM
Android 2.2
8 megapixel camera with Autofocus, Dual LED Flash and 720p video recording
1.3 megapixel front facing camera
1450 mAh Battery
480 x 800 pixels Capacitive multitouch SLCD display 4.0 Inch
The display on the Incredible S is simply stunning, the comparatively high resolution along with the SLCD screen just do wonders for the device. The colors are deep and the text crisp. The Processor may also play a role in the responsiveness of the device, but the basic functionality of the display and touchscreen is simply great.
The speaker on the device is slightly louder than its cousins ( the Desire HD/Mozart etc). But still not up to the mark from a device in this range. The video playback is smooth with zero lag and the fact that almost all formats can be played or play on the device thanks to Android is an added bonus.
The camera is no-where near where we want it to be, the images were bad, and we fail to see what dumping megapixels in a camera would do if the sensor is basically a dud. The camera is a big disappointment, although in crisp clear daylight , you may even get impressive shots, indoor and low light images are just very very poor. HTC should work on the Hardware instead of cramming specs in their devices. The 5MP backlit sensor on my personal iPhone 4 is far superior than this 8MP one from HTC.
PERFORMANCE, PHONE and MESSAGING
The device is a performer when comparing it to earlier versions of HTC devices and even some competition from Samsung. We ran Quadrant and Neocore on the device and we were quite pleased with what we saw. The scores ranged from
Quadrant : 1550-1600 (Highest Rank in the Stats)
Neocore : 56.5-57.0 FPS
The phone call capability of this device sets it apart, we cant stress enough on the crispness of the earpiece or the sensitivity of the microphone, the call quality was just brilliant. We did several hours of testing on the device and we got (get this) NO DROPPED CALLS in areas where we usually get several call drops within a couple of hours.
The messaging is similar to HTC Desire HD with the sense keyboard, the keyboard has navigation keys at the bottom which make it a lot more easy to navigate while in a text compose screen. The typing experience is much better on the Incredible S simply because of the improved responsiveness of the display and the processing capabilities of the device.
CONCLUSION
The Incredible S is a abandoned phone, it comes at a time where devices of its kind are becoming obsolete. The SE Xperia Arc, Nexus S and OPTIMUS 2x are already here and in the market. So a single core processor based device at this price point seems worthless to us. The Incredible S is truly incredible in performance and its built it also has a good set of specs, But its a little too late for the party. The camera is a disappointment, and the price point of 27-28000 makes us reject the device and look at dual core alternatives.
Here is the Unboxing Video of the HTC Incredible S, The video also contains a comparison of the device with the Desire HD. Check it out and stay tuned for the Full Review.
