Rumours have been around for a long time regarding the Realme 2’s successor, the Realme 3. As per the company’s latest tweet, the rumours will be converted to reality as the Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer is planning to release two new smartphones in India on March 4. The devices in context are the much-awaited Realme 3 and the Realme 3 Pro. The smartphones will target the low to mid-budget segment of the market and will go up against the recently launched Redmi Note 7 & Redmi Note 7 Pro.
The First Teaser Video
The teaser video was released by Realme’s official Twitter account on February 27, which hinted at the launch of the upcoming smartphone. Furthermore, the number ‘3’ can be clearly seen in the video in the form of a lightning bolt. Take a look below
One of the key aspects of the teaser video is the highlighted ‘Pro‘ text in the phrase ‘Be Proactive’, which indicates that the company will also launch the Realme 3 Pro at the event. Both the devices are successors to the Realme 2 and the Realme 2 Pro respectively, which were released last year in India and were warmly welcomed by the Indian consumers. Realme CEO took a jab at the recently released Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and 7 Pro in another tweet.

Keeping the game going, Realme posted a second teaser video on February 1, reminding its fans regarding the launch date of the devices. Moreover, the second teaser video shows off the dual rear camera setup of the device and the number ‘3’ being formed out of water, hinting at the fact that the Realme 3 and/or Realme 3 Pro might be water resistant.
Expected Specifications
Regarding the features, the Realme 3 Pro will sport a waterdrop notch display. The smartphones will be kitted with the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. Leaks suggest that it will sport a rear mounted fingerprint sensor on top of a diamond-cut back panel design. The new Realme smartphones may run ColorOS 6, which is a custom skin based on the latest Android 9 Pie.
As far as pricing is concerned, the Realme 3 and Realme 3 Pro are expected to be priced in the sub-20k segment. The ear tips of the Realme Buds are angled at 45 degrees which help in an ergonomic fit. They also have three control buttons which allows for easy volume control and to play/pause the music. Like the case, they are also priced at Rs 499.

Realme has been continuously teasing an upcoming smartphone on Twitter. The new smartphone will be called the Realme U1 and will be focused towards photography. It will be the first device to feature the latest MediaTek Helio P70 Processor. The Helio P70 is about 30% faster and less power hungry than its predecessor, the Helio P60. To showcase the power of this new chipset, Realme has shared its benchmark scores on Twitter.
The MediaTek Helio P70 boasts a much higher 145021 AnTuTu score than its competitors. The Kirin 710 which is present on the Honor 8Xgets a score of 139974 while the Snapdragon 636 which is featured on Redmi Note 6 Pro gets only 115611 points. This makes the Realme U1 about 20% faster than its competitors, at least in theory.
The Realme U1
The company has made apparent that the smartphone will have a focus on photography due to its tagline ‘India’s Selfie Pro’. According to a previously released teaser, the Realme U1, like the Realme 2 Prohas a waterdrop notch which houses the front camera. Information regarding the resolution and type sensor of the front camera is unavailable as of now. But the upcoming smartphone will have standard AI features that other Realme smartphones have. Realme’s AI mode offers features like Beauty Modes, Face filters, and auto scene detection.
The Realme U1 is expected to have a large battery like the Realme C1 which has a massive 4,230 mAh battery. The smartphone will most probably run on Color OS 5.2 which is built on top of Android 8 Oreo.
The price details for the Realme U1 are not available however, it is expected to be a sub 15k smartphone, like its competitors. It will launch on the 28th of November and like other Realme, devices will only be available on online platforms.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Realme launched their first smartphone, the Realme 1 earlier this year. The company since then has launched several other devices in the country that have received a positive response from consumers. Now, the company is about to launch their first U-series smartphone; the Realme U1 in India which will be exclusively available on Amazon. The upcoming smartphone might have a focus on photography due to its tagline “India’s Selfie Pro”. As promised, it will be the first smartphone to run on the MediaTek Helio P70chipset. The smartphone will launch on 28th November at 12:30 AM. The company will live stream the launch event of the upcoming smartphone on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.
The company is touting the Realme U1 as a smartphone that shines in the area of photography. Any technicalities regarding the resolution or type of sensor on the device are currently unavailable. But, it is expected to have a high-resolution sensor and optimised software to match it. Additionally, the camera will have AI capabilities that can result in better-looking pictures.
MediaTek Helio P70
The Realme U1 will not only be limited to photography but will also be a solid performer due to the Helio P70 chipset. The Helio P70 was launched last month and is the successor to the Helio P60 which is present on the Realme 1. MediaTek claims that the new processor is a big leap forward from its predecessor. It now has a multi-core APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) which delivers 10-30 % better AI processing than the last generation. According to MediaTek, the processor is up to 35% less power hungry than its predecessor which will lead to better battery backup.
Notch Display
The pre-release webpage of the Realme U1 is already live on Amazon and it reveals that the new smartphone will have a dewdrop notch at the front. This notch will also help to bump up the screen-to-body-ratio of the smartphone.
Realme is a fairly new company, but, they have already left a mark in the heavily crowded Indian smartphone market. The company launched their first smartphone, the Realme 1 back in the month of May. Post that, they have launched several other devices in the country which are the Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro & Realme C1. All the smartphones launched till date have received a warm welcome from the consumers. And recently, yet another Realme device, codenamed RMX1833 has been spotted on the Geekbench app with a MediaTek MT6771v (Helio P60) Processor.
Geekbench Results
The Geekbench listing reveals a smartphone with 4 GB of RAM & the Helio P60 processor. Most notably, the same processor & RAM configuration is also available on the previously launched Realme 1 smartphone. Apparently, it is a different device because of the non-identical model numbers of the two. Additionally, the device scores a much higher multi-core score than the Realme 1.
The device gets a 5,926 multi-core score which is around 1,000 points higher than Realme 1’s 4,986. It also has a higher 1,560 Single-core score which is 145 points more than Realme 1’s 1,415. The company must have highly optimised their ColorOS to churn out a much higher Geekbench score out of the device.
Can It Be The Realme 3?
Not long ago chip maker MediaTek, announced their Helio P70 chipset & reports in the past have claimed that Realme will be the first company to launch a P70 powered smartphone. Clearly, the device in the listing does not have the Helio P70 SoC. Albeit, taking chronological order into consideration this might be the Realme 3. Also if the device is a successor to the Realme 2, then the company might carry forward some features from the former.
The Realme 2 is a good phone but the company did receive some criticism for their choice of processor on it. Realme chose the Snapdragon 450 processor in the Realme 2. The Snapdragon 450 had inferior performance than the Helio P60 which was present on the Realme 1. But the Realme 2 covered lost ground with a fingerprint sensor, bigger battery, and dual rear cameras.
All in all, if the Realme 3 does make use of the Helio P60 processor, the company is expected to launch it with the fingerprint sensor and the bigger battery like its predecessor.
Realme is a Shenzhen based smartphone manufacturer that sells value for money smartphones. It started as a sub-brand of Oppo, but is an independent company now. Realme launched their first smartphone, the Realme 1 back in the month of May in India. The smartphone took over the Indian market like a storm owing to its killer pricing and features. It is the first smartphone to challenge the reign of Xiaomi phones, the budget leader in India. The company is headed by Madhav Sheth in India who has recently tweeted that Realme devices will soon see a price hike.
The Realme 1 is a beautifully designed smartphone that is built with performance in mind. After the success of the former, the company has launched multiple other smartphones. List of the smartphones includes the Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and the new budget champion Realme C1. The smartphones have seen a warm welcome by the Indian consumers. But, soon they will get a tad bit more expensive due to the decline of the Indian Rupee.
Reason For The Price Hike
The rupee rates are falling and as a brand we actually work on low margins. It indicates that we might have to upgrade the pricing, just to make sure that we continue to give you the best technology in our upcoming offerings. We are trying to figure out a solution post Diwali.?
A tweet by the CEO of Realme India explains that the company operates on very low-profit margins. And, the fall in the Rupee’s value directly affects the pricing of their smartphones. It has forced them to revise the prices which will see a hike post-Diwali.
Previously, Xiaomi had to increase the price of their very popular model, the Note 5 Pro by Rs 1,000 due to the same reason. It was initially launched at a price of Rs 14,000 but the company had to later revise the price to Rs 15,000. The fall in the Rupee’s value will surely affect the pricing of a lot of other smartphones and gadgets as well.
However, the official has posted another tweet stating that the devices will be available at the current prices for two more days. Those of you planning to buy any of the Realme smartphones, now is probably the best time to get your hands on one.
Realme is a smartphone manufacturer which was first registered in China in 2010. The company was a sub-brand of of Oppo Electronics until it’s sepration in 2018. The company launched its first smartphone, the Oppo Realme 1 earlier this year which was a huge hit in the Indian smartphone market. Realme has launched other smartphone models since then which are in high demand as well. Now, MediaTek has made an announcement at the IMC(Indian Mobile Congress) 2018. The company confirmed that a Realme smartphone will be the first device to be powered by the upgraded MediaTek Helio P70 SoC.
Helio P70- What Has Changed?
The recently launched Helio P70 is an upgraded version of the Helio P60 which is seen in the likes of Oppo F9 Pro & Realme 1. The Helio P70 is 64-bit Octa-Core processor which uses 12nm production process that makes it more power efficient. It is up to 13% faster than the Helio P60 and up to 35% less power hungry. The Heli0 P70 supports up to 8 GB DDR4 RAM or 4 GB DDR3 RAM. The Helio P70 SoC has the Mali-G72 GPU with 900 MHz frequency and has a maximum screen resolution support of 2160 x 1080 px.
The Helio P70 also has an in-built 525 MHz APU(Accelerated Processing Unit) which is a combination of CPU & GPU that allows for faster data communication. Hence, resulting in better performance and processing power.
Realme & MediaTek
Oppo Realme 1
The last time Realme and MediaTek got together ,the result was the Realme 1. It stirred up the already cut-throat Indian smartphone market. Before the launch of Realme, Xiomi was one of the top smartphone manufacturers to offer a feature packed device at a highly affordable price. The Realme brand has since then become a synonym for great value for money smartphones. Later, the company launched the Realme 2, with a bigger battery and a fingerprint scanner which was an alternate to their Realme 1 which was more performance oriented. Recently, the company launched the Realme 2 Pro, a powerful mid-ranger and the Realme C1, the budget killer. Both of which run on Qualcomm processors.
The Realme 1 with the Helio P60 SoC had overall better performance compared to it competitors in that price bracket. Now, the updated Helio P70 with multiple updates and better AI intergration is out. We are eager to see how the upcoming Realme smartphone with the Helio P70 SoC will fare. As we know, Realme prices their smartphones very aggressively we have a feeling the new smartphone will be a killer deal that will be hard to pass.
The launch date of the device is not yet available, but the company had hinted towards a possible smartphone release by the end of this year.
The Motorola One Power made a mark for itself and is one of the better phones from Motorola we have seen in a while. Motorola also got the pricing right with the device, giving it a good response from fans. However, Realme launched the Realme 2 Pro with a bunch of features and the price has pitted the devices against each other. So, here we take a look at the Moto One Power and Realme 2 Pro, head to head.
Display:
The Realme 2 Pro has a 6.3-inch Full HD display, complete with thin bezels on either side and a teardrop notch on the top. With a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the Realme 2 Pro provides an immersive visual experience at 409 ppi. Not lagging behind, the Motorola One Power gives a similar performance with its 6.2-inch, Full HD display. At 2246 × 1080 pixels, it gives us a density of 402 ppi.
Both of the devices house the front camera in the notch. The Realme 2 Pro has a water drop style notch and the camera is placed along the middle of the top bezel which gives the device a really clean look. On the other hand Motorola One Power has a wide notch with the camera placed on the it’s right side.
Processor & Fingerprint Sensor:
The Realme 2 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with the Adreno 512 GPU. The device performs well running day to day tasks and moderately demanding games. Also, the Realme 2 Pro has an AIE (Artificial Intelligence Engine) which helps the device to take better pictures, optimise battery life and helps in better resource management. The Motorola One Power is no slouch either. It is powered by the Snapdragon 636 with Adreno 509 GPU. The device mostly runs lag free during basic tasks and even while playing casual games.
Both the devices come with fingerprint scanners and are equally good in unlocking the device. Additionally, the Realme 2 Pro has a lightning fast face unlock.
RAM & Storage:
This the segment where the Realme 2 Pro really emerges on top. The Realme 2 Pro offers upto 8 GB of RAM compared to the Motorola One Power’s single 4 GB RAM variant. The higher RAM allows the Realme 2 Pro to run even excessively RAM hungry games smoothly.
User Interface:
The two devices have a great deal of differences with regard to the interface. The Moto One Power runs Android One and gives a clean, stock android experience. The device has a very familiar interface and a traditional design. There are no surprises in this department and the UI is easy to use.

The Realme 2 Pro has a custom UI based. Although this doesn’t have an app drawer, it has an app grid which can be accessed once you swipe right. An interesting feature is a ‘quick drawer’ which lets you access shortcuts which can be customised. You can also take a screenshot or enable screen recording directly from this launcher.

Camera:
The Realme 2 Pro has an AI powered camera which helps in precise scene detection and multiple smart features. The Realme 2 Pro has a dual 12 MP+ 2 MP camera setup. Likewise, the Motorola One Power also has dual cameras. But it has a 12 MP + 5 MP camera setup. The Realme 2 Pro records 1080p video at 30 fps while the Moto One Power records 1080p video at 30/60 fps.
Realme 2 Pro
Moto One Power
The Realme 2 Pro has a 16 MP front facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The Moto One Power has a 12 MP front facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Both the devices can record 1080p video at 30 fps with the front camera.

Realme 2 Pro
Battery:
This is the area where Motorola goes all guns blazing and leaves the Realme 2 Pro in dust. The Motorola One Power has a massive 5000 mAh battery compared to the Realme 2 Pro’s much smaller 3500 mAh battery.
Realme 2 Pro has a good battery life with everyday use. But, the Motorola One Power with its massive battery lasts even longer and outperforms the Realme 2 Pro in this department. Additionally the Moto One Power has fast charging capability and a fast charger included in the box. While the Realme 2 Pro also has fast charging capability, it is disappointing that the company hasn’t included a fast charger in the box.
Verdict:
There is no clear winner in this contest as both phones have their pros and cons. The Realme 2 Pro has water drop notch display, higher RAM, better camera and AI integration. But the Motorola One Power also stands out with its massive battery, solid build quality and the clean stock Android experience.

OPPO has unveiled its new sub-brand for India, Realme. Under the new brand, the company has launched the Realme 1 in India at a starting price of Rs 8990. The smartphone will be available in three variants, one with 3GB RAM/32GB storage, second with 4GB RAM/64GB storage and the third with 6GB RAM/128GB storage. It is an Amazon-exclusive device and the first sale will be on the 25th of May and commence at 12 noon.
The OPPO Realme 1 is an interesting device with a few peculiar decisions taken by the company. Two of the most popular features of a budget smartphone, dual-camera setup and fingerprint sensor are both missing from the smartphone. This can be a deal breaker for many as a fingerprint sensor has become a norm for any smartphone these days.
The Realme 1 has a 6 inch display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. This translates into an 18:9 aspect ratio which has become increasingly common these days.
The smartphone runs on the MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60 chipset coupled with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB storage. The onboard storage is expandable via a microSD card in case you run out of the onboard storage provided. Powering the smartphone is 3410 mAh battery which charges via a micro USB slot.
The Realme 1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with ColorOS 5.0 on top. The custom skin is very similar to skins by Chinese smartphone makers, there is no app drawer and you’ll barely notice the version of Android because of the heavy customisation. There OPPO Cloud for people to store their data on the internet instead of their devices. Clone Apps will let consumers use two separate accounts of the same app, which can come in handy for a lot of people.
The smartphone also misses out on a dual-camera setup, again, a feature that has become the norm. It has a 13MP camera on the back along with an 8MP front-facing camera.
At a starting price of Rs 8990, the Realme 1 is a great competitor for the Redmi Note 5. However, you do miss out on a fingerprint sensor on the Realme 1. The sale of the smartphone begins on May 25th via Amazon.
Realme is an OPPO sub-brand which will launch its first smartphone in India, the Realme 1 on May 15th. The device will be an Amazon-exclusive and its product page has a few details about the smartphone listed already. The smartphone has a starting price tag of Rs 8990 for the 3GB RAM variant.

The most striking feature of the Realme 1 is its back panel. The smartphone has a “Diamond Black” back which looks quite impressive as it reflects light differently from a different angle. This is thanks to the diamond-like cuts on the metal. It is worth noting that the back has a plain texture and that the cuts are not physical. The smartphone definitely feels hefty and won’t be the most lightweight smartphone you pick up.
To keep up with the competition, the Realme 1 has an 18:9 aspect ratio even though the bezels are quite visible and not the thinnest you’ll ever see. However, the smartphone does not have a fingerprint sensor, which is truly astonishing considering smartphones that cost Rs 7000 also have a fingerprint sensor these days.

The OPPO Realme 1 looks apart from the competition but misses out on a few key features. Stay tuned for a full review of the Realme 1!
