We got our hands on the large size Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 pre-launch in India. The event is about to begin and our initial impressions are mixed, the device is ver very big. The device is quite a middle point between a Tablet and a Smartphone and is pretty comfortable for its size. The display even though is 5.3 inches is very crisp with a Super Amoled screen. The device remains very slim and fares almost close to the iPhone 4S at just 9.65mm. The Note is possibly the first smartphone you will enjoy using a stylus on, the precision of the point is great. The Stylus is also a great sketch and edit instrument and you will actually use it a lot if you get this device.
The stylus does not work with other screens and not at all with the iPhone (trust us we tested). The device fits into the pockets of your denim in a very uncomfortable fashion, but would do well for a coat/blazer pocket (for those corporate types). Check out our hands on images below and stay tuned for the full hands on Video by the end of the day. The camera is a pretty good snapper and we have attached a bunch of samples we got from it including an indoor 1080p video which should go up by the end of the day.
To sum it up we have a 5.3 inch display, a 1.4 GHz dual core processor, 16GB storage, 32GB expandable a 8 megapixel camera at back and a 2MP in the front. We also get an impressive stylus and a beautiful screen a 2500 mah battery pack . So far so good right.
Update : The price is now confirmed at an MRP of INR 34,990/-
The air has been cleared over the tablet to Android 4 controversy and it seems all but most Honeycomb tablets will be updated to the latest build of Android from their companies. The only thing that lies in the middle is the timeline, and since we all know that companies like to take their own sweet time ironing out the kinks, we would say it should be a while.
The folks over at Rootzwiki and the Touchdroid team (whatever is left of it anyway) has finally managed to get CM7 running on the Touchpad, worth noting. The device looks be be running pretty smoothly with most of the aspects working well including Skype calling.
Note that the build is still alpha and while most things work there is a high chance that things can go wrong. Head over to the link below if you feel like doing it anyway.
HCL Has launched a new Tablet in India, Called the X1
The device has very ordinary specs, but what makes it special is the the number of apps developed around the tablet. HCL plans to offer end-to-end solution to buyers whether corporate or personal.
Tech Specs
OS: Android 2.3
CPU: ARM Cortex A8, 1 GHz, High performance low power CPU
Screen: 7 inch 800×480 WVGA Capacative touchscreen
Looks like we finally have confirmation that the Galaxy Nexus Prime and the Ice Cream Sandwich release, which were earlier to be released on the 11th of Oct will now be released on the 19th of Oct 2011. The event has been moved to the 19th and some are speculating that despite Google and Samsung used Steve Jobs’ passing as an excuse the real reason was their FCC clearance delays.
Either way we will have more on this shorty, and expect full coverage during launch time.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been an elusive device from Samsung. We first got our hands on with the tablet at the Samsung forum earlier this year, where the device was officially announced.
Now that the Tablet was fully launched in India, we finally got a chance to grab hold of ours and here it is. in all its glory. The device runs on a dual core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, with a 7000mah battery which should be powerful enough with ample juice for hours of usage.
Expected? perhaps not. While investment companies and strategy officials were busy down ranking the Amazon fire tablet. Amazon seems to have pulled a Witwicky with the results of first day preorders. The company has reportedly snagged orders over 95,000 for a device that they are yet to start selling.
While playing the numbers game isn’t safe in the tablet scenario, RIM sold a total of 200,000 Playbooks, Apple on the other hand sold over 300,000 on the day of order commencement. So being able to sell 100,000 of a tablet that is priced at 199$ is not a difficult task to do.
Palm, The company that was killed due to lack of intelligent structuring by HP, remains as one of the biggest loss-outs in the mobile acquisition history. Palm was the first after Apple to offer an OS capable of interacting with touchscreen devices, and one that was also limited to their own devices. Not that Palm had not been doing that from the day it launched, it somehow managed to user in the post iOS era when apps and the APP Store were just very young.
Hp after buying out Palm flat out for 1.2 billion dollars, on August 19th 2011 announced that it will abandon the WebOS and its devices. Now Amazon seems to be the forerunner in the race to buy out the company from HP.
HP is looking to dump what’s left of Palm and webOS as quickly as possible, and Amazon is nearing a deal to make the acquisition. Amazon recently revealed the Kindle Fire tablet which runs on a highly customized version on Android. Buying out a proprietary OS would not only enable the company to control the features that they want to give, but also enable innovation from the company. WebOS would cost Amazon a good amount of money and will force the company to go back to the drawing board in terms of building hardware around an entirely new platform.
Amazon has also announced today its plans to launch a Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet, the device will have a 7 inch multitouch display with Amazon Silk Graphics. The device will officially launch on the 15th of November. The main aspects of the device are a dual core processor, color multitouch display and the fact that its based on Android.

Cloud-Accelerated Web Browser – “Amazon Silk”
The Kindle Fire web browser Amazon Silk introduces a radical new paradigm – a “split browser” architecture that accelerates the power of the mobile device hardware by using the computing speed and power of the Amazon Web Services Cloud. The Silk browser software resides both on Kindle Fire and on the massive server fleet that comprises the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). With each page request, Silk dynamically determines a division of labor between the mobile hardware and Amazon EC2 (i.e. which browser sub-components run where) that takes into consideration factors like network conditions, page complexity, and cached content. The result is a faster web browsing experience, and it’s available exclusively on Kindle Fire. Additional technical details are available in the Amazon Silk press release, released today at www.amazon.com/pr. To see a video about Amazon Silk go to www.amazon.com/silk.
Simple and Easy-To-Use
Amazon designed the Kindle Fire user interface from the ground up to make it easier than ever to purchase, manage, and enjoy your digital content. Just like with Kindle e-readers, Kindle Fire comes automatically pre-registered to your Amazon.com account so you can immediately start enjoying your digital content purchased from Amazon or shop for new content. All of your digital content is instantly available to enjoy and manage with a simple, consistent experience across all content types.
Free Cloud Storage
Just like Kindle e-readers, Kindle Fire offers free storage for all your Amazon digital content in the Amazon Cloud. Amazon digital content is automatically backed up for free in the Amazon Cloud’s Worry-Free Archive where it’s available for re-downloading anytime.
Amazon Whispersync Now for Movies & TV Too
Just like Kindle e-readers, Kindle Fire uses Amazon’s popular Whispersync technology to automatically synchronize your Kindle library, last page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights across the widest range of devices and platforms. With the introduction of Kindle Fire, Amazon is expanding this technology to include video. Start streaming a movie on your Kindle Fire, and when you get home, you can resume streaming right where you left off on your TV – avoid the frustration of needing to find your spot.
Easy to Hold in One Hand
Just like Kindle e-readers, Kindle Fire was designed to disappear so you can lose yourself in the content. Weighing in at just 14.6 ounces, Kindle Fire is small and light enough to hold in just one hand and carry everywhere you go. The lightweight, compact design makes Kindle Fire perfect for web browsing, playing games, reading and shopping on-the-go.
Brilliant Color Touchscreen
Content comes alive in rich color on a 7-inch full color LCD touchscreen that delivers 16 million colors in high resolution and 169 pixels per inch. Kindle Fire uses IPS (in-plane switching) technology – similar technology as used on the iPad, for an extra-wide viewing angle – perfect for sharing your screen with others. In addition, the Kindle Fire display is chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, which means it is incredibly durable and will stand up to accidental bumps and scrapes.
Fast, Powerful Dual-Core Processor
Kindle Fire features a state-of-the-art dual-core processor for fast, powerful performance. Stream music while browsing the web or read books while downloading videos.
Free Month of Amazon Prime
Right out of the box, Kindle Fire users will experience the benefits that millions of Amazon Prime members already enjoy – unlimited, commercial-free, instant streaming of over 11,000 movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Video and the convenience of Free Two-Day Shipping on millions of items from Amazon.com.
Only $199
The all-new Kindle Fire – with all the content, Amazon’s revolutionary cloud-accelerated browser, free storage in the Amazon Cloud, Whispersync, 14.6 ounce design that’s easy to hold with one hand, brilliant color touchscreen, and a fast and powerful dual core processor – is only $199. Customers in the U.S. can pre-order Kindle Fire starting today at www.amazon.com/kindlefire and it ships November 15.

Some great news for those waiting in for the Galaxy Players / PMPs running Android and boasting a 5 inch/4 inch screens, the devices will be available along with the Galaxy 730 aka Galaxy Tab 8.9 inch in the last week of october. This information comes from the very depths of the Samsung HQ in NCRand packs a punch especially because there is a tad bit of information regarding the pricing on the PMPs.
We got our hands on with the PMP back at the Samsung Forums, check out the video below.
Spec Sheet
Now here is the awesome part the PMPs are speculated to have the following price : Galaxy Player 4 for 12,500 and Galaxy Player 5 for 15,000 Indian currency. We think that its excellent pricing.
Pricing of the Galaxy 730the MRP remains the same from initial PR : Tab 730 at INR 33,990 which seems a lot more since the 750 sells for much cheaper than that price.
Amazon’s holding a press conference on Wednesday, September 28th in New York. There is no information on what is expected. But the amount of talks of the tablets from Amazon, will lead anyone to believe that the launch will happen the same day.
Specific rumors have been pointing at a touchscreen version of the Kindle that runs on Android. Others say its a full fledged tablet, this will still be called Kindle or Kindle Tab.
Either way we wont know till we know, and we will tell you first!
Motorola was expected to re-launch a beefed up version of the Xoom Tablet (which failed to do well), especially since its epic takeover news first hit us. The new versions of the Tablet have been roaming around on the iter-webs for sometime. But now, folks from engadget have got their hands on some real interesting images that suggest that there are, not one but two Xoom Tablets all set to be released.
The devices are presumably as thin as the iPhone 4 at just 9.3mm, the devices will come equipped to handle next-gen LTE networks. Android 3.2 and five-megapixel HD cameras on the rear.
HP recently announced that it would stop making Touchpads and other WebOS devices. Earlier known as the Touchpad G the 7inch device has come into existence on a chinese forum. A 7 inch tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio is a first by itself.
This one also has 2 cameras and an NFC chip. The funny thing however is , that we don’t know whether or not HP will actually launch the WebOS based Tablet.
Intel was fully in the madness, you think NVIDIA would be behind much? NVIDIA has just opened its Windows 8 developer program, and says it’ll embrace not just x86-based PCs, but Tegra-powered tablets as well.
Especially forthcoming quad-core Tegra platform, codenamed Kal-El, along with PCs packing GeForce, Quadro and Tesla cards.
