  • OnePlus 6T With Dual Camera Confirmed

OnePlus 6T With Dual Camera Confirmed

The OnePlus 6T will have a dual camera setup, contrary to rumours which reported it will have a triple camera setup. The latest leak also shows that the device will sport a taller display. The device will have an in-display fingerprint scanner as confirmed by the company earlier.

The 6.4 inch screen will have a 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display will also have a smaller, water drop notch as compared to the OnePlus 6. The device will also be a millimetre or two taller than the OnePlus 6.

    Teaser on Amazon

    Specifications:

Despite the fact that the OnePlus 6T has a similar dual camera setup, the camera performance will obviously be bumped up. The triple camera setup might be held back for the OnePlus 7. The device might implement AI functionality to combat the other devices in its segment. Under the hood, the device will carry a better and bigger battery, according to reports. Along with this, better optimisation might give extended battery life as well.

OnePlus is not expected to upgrade the chipset with the new OnePlus 6T, according to reports. The RAM options will also remain the same but we could expect a boost in the memory segment. With more and more flagship devices offering 512 GB variants, OnePlus might not stay behind. The device will not have a headphone jack.

Other expected features include wireless charging and water resistance. Since the OnePlus 6 was only ‘splash proof’ this upgrade would be nice. Along with this, the other change in terms of design will be the absence of a physical fingerprint scanner.

    Launch:

The release of the OnePlus 6T will be in October, close to the launch of the Pixel 3 devices. The device is already being teased on Amazon, which means it will be an Amazon exclusive, as always.

  • YouTube To Shut Down Its Gaming App In March

YouTube To Shut Down Its Gaming App In March

YouTube recently updated its gaming hub to look more like the how YouTube normally looks on a laptop or desktop. Following this, it is going to shut down its dedicated gaming app in March 2019. Most of the features the app used has now made its way to the Youtube page, leaving the app redundant.

The YouTube gaming app was launched in 2015 by Google to compete against Amazon’s Twitch. Twitch is a popular video game live-streaming site. The reason why Google felt this need can be seen in the numbers. 1.9 billion users visit YouTube every month, out of which about 200 million use the platform to watch other people playing video games. This is exactly what Twitch is built for, exclusively. Therefore, the company wanted to provided a dedicated platform to address the specific needs of gamers.

    The New Hub:

    The New Gaming Hub

This didn’t work out in the way it was intended, as the company itself feels that the app is now redundant. Users have another alternative, of course.  The new YouTube gaming hub is more suited for users and is built around discovering creators, according to the company. The hub will also integrate more clearly on to the main site.  Another important aspect is that the hub will resemble the YouTube homepage, which users are familiar with and will find easier to navigate through.

Personalised recommendations based on your watch history will appear at the top along with ‘top live games’ and latest gaming videos from subscribers. It will also include a dedicated slots for live streams and trending videos.

The company has also worked to  ensure the experience is as good as one gets from Twitch. The entire layout has been changed, to make its easier to access videos. Now, if you choose a certain game, you get a whole lot of options. If one clicks on Fortnite, it will have various shelves such as VOD (Video on Demand), Live, creators, etc which are highlighted.

The company plans to ensure that YouTube’s biggest user base stays in tact. The rising competition from Twitch has sounded off alarms and a call for action. You can have a look at the new gaming hub here.

  • Samsung Galaxy A7 Leaked: 3 Cameras, Side Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

Samsung Galaxy A7 Leaked: 3 Cameras, Side Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

Images and renders of the alleged Samsung Galaxy A7 have been leaked, giving us a glimpse at the triple camera setup. If the reports are right, this will be the first triple camera smartphone by Samsung, not the flagship Galaxy S10. Along with this, there are reports of the Galaxy A9 Star Pro with four rear cameras. These devices are expected to launch at Samsung’s special Galaxy event on 11th October.

The leaked image shows off a vertical triple camera setup with a flash module below in the Galaxy A7. The Galaxy A7 is expected to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 or Snapdragon 660. Some reports also suggest that the device could be powered by the Exynos 7885 processor. It is also rumoured to have a 4 GB RAM variant for some markets, including India.

Also Read: Samsung To Launch Galaxy A9 Pro With Snapdragon 710

Another striking feature, is the presence of the side mounted fingerprint scanner. Leaks also suggest that the device will have water proof and dust proof certification.

    Galaxy A9 Star Pro:

Multiple reports suggest that a Samsung device with a four rear camera setup has been spotted. The cameras are allegedly stacked vertically. However, this seems to be a highly unlikely  design choice by Samsung. This array will be placed on the left top corner of the device and the centre will house the fingerprint scanner, according to the report. The device is also expected to feature a dedicated Bixby button along with a headphone jack.

If the devices actually sport these features, it means that Samsung would not be reserving its best features for its flagship devices. The recent report that Samsung might be changing its lineup to better suit the needs of the market might be true.

  • Windows 10 Will Lose These features With the October 2018 Update

Windows 10 Will Lose These features With the October 2018 Update

With over 700 million devices running on Windows 10, Microsoft is constantly working on updating the operating system. The upcoming October update of Windows 10 will see a lot of features being discontinued but most of them are actually being incorporated into other features. Many elements which are not being actively developed as of now, will not be updated and will probably be removed by the update after this one.

    What you will lose:

The most important feature in this list is the snipping tool. The sniping tool is used by many people to  capture screenshots and specific portions of the screen. The feature in itself is not being removed, its just being moved. It is being incorporated into Microsoft’s new Snip & Sketch app. The Snip & Sketch app will let you use the exact same features as the snipping tool. It will have an additional feature to delay the snip from being taken.

The Hologram App is one that has also been added to the list. This is because it is being replaced by the Mixed Reality Viewer. With this, you can still view 3D art in virtual reality. The same can also be edited in the Paint 3D application.

The Phone Companion App will also be discontinued. This does not mean that you will lose the functionality associated with this. The features of this app will be incorporated into the Phone page under settings. To see a list of everything that has been changed, you can visit this website.

Microsoft will also be dropping the OneSync service. This syncs data across the Calendar, Mail and People apps. However, Microsoft has introduced a sync engine to the Outlook application which will carry out the same task. The new update is called Windows 10 version 1809 and will arrive in October. The rollout will be spread over a period of several months however and it will take some time for all the features to arrive to your system.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Goes On Sale Before Official Launch

A Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro device is already on sale, even before the device has been announced by the company. The device is on sale on AliExpress and is listed along with full specifications and images. This is a global version which will support over 70 languages and comes with Google Services and OTA updates.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is on sale with a Snapdragon 636 chipset. It is listed as a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage version and has a microSD port. It has a 6.26 inch display and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The listing also confirms the fact that there are four cameras on the device.

Also Read: Motorola To Launch Moto One Power On September 24

The device has a 12 MP + 5 MP primary camera and a 20 MP + 2 MP front camera. The device runs on Android Oreo with MIUI 9. It has a 4,000 mAh battery and a micro USB port.

    Legit Or Not?

While most of the specifications from the listing are the same as earlier leaks and reports, a few things do not fall into place. The listing claims a Snapdragon 636 SoC for the device. This is inconsistent to earlier reports which said the device will have a Snapdragon 660 chipset. This seems highly unlikely as the Redmi Note 5 Pro also used the Snapdragon 636. The upgraded version of the device is bound to use a better chipset.

Apart from this, the listing also places the display resolution at  2160 x 1080 pixels. The device claims to have an 19:9 aspect ratio. If that’s the case, the resolution should be 2280 x 1080 pixels. These two points do make us question the credibility of the device which is being sold.

The device is available in four colours which are Black, Blue, Rose Gold, and Red and costs  $193. The website also shows that the device is not available for delivery to India.

  • Samsung Will Merge J Series With A Series, Reorganise Entire Lineup

Samsung Will Merge J Series With A Series, Reorganise Entire Lineup

Samsung is reportedly planning to discontinue its Galaxy J series of smartphones. Instead, it will merge its lesser priced lineup with the mid-range A series. The move is reportedly Samsung’s way to combat the rising competition from Chinese brands in the same price segment.

The Galaxy J series is the budget lineup that the manufacturer provides. It will merge it with the A series, which will then cover the entire segment. Apart from this, Samsung is also planning to replace its Galaxy On series with a new Galaxy M lineup. The Galaxy M series will target the budget smartphone segment which is currently ruled by Chinese manufacturers.

    Galaxy J7 Duo

Samsung had taken a hit on sales in the budget smartphone segment. Most consumers believed that the company did not price the devices well. The new Galaxy M series will be priced competitively. This could mean that the manufacturer will experience a slight turbulence in its profit margins. However, this step could ensure that Samsung remains at the top where it matters the most.

    Samsung’s New Move:

Xiaomi overtook Samsung to become India’s top selling brand recently. Though Samsung still continues to hold the top position in the global market. This is threatened by Huawei which is quickly climbing up the global market share. Brands like Huawei and Xiaomi are able to make such great sales by targeting the most important smartphone markets. China and India. China is currently the worlds biggest smartphone market, with India at a close second. India is the world’s fastest growing market and will soon overtake China, according to reports.

Samsung’s move can turn it around for the company. By targeting the Chinese and Indian markets, the company may be able to report better sales. If the devices are priced smartly and devices with popular features are produced, these markets will react very well. The change in lineup, the setup of the world’s largest factory and world’s largest Samsung store in India really shows the effort that the company is putting into the country to ensure its market relevance.

    Specifications:

The Huawei Mate 20 will have a triple camera setup, making it the highlight of its design. The three cameras and flash are in a square frame. Another rumour is the presence of an in-display fingerprint scanner. This will make the Huawei Mate 20 the first device from the company to have this technology. The device will reportedly use the ultrasonic fingerprint technology from Qualcomm. However, this is 3x costlier than the optical in display sensor being used by most companies now. The ultrasonic fingerprint display is more secure, advanced and can work even if your fingers are greasy.

The device will run on the Hisilicon Kirin 980 Octa-core chipset, according to reports. This is the latest flagship processor by Huawei. It uses the 7 nm manufacturing process, like the A12 Bionic from Apple. The SoC will offer better thermal efficiency and faster processing power, according to reports. • Amazon Opens Cashier-Less Go Store: Just Walk Out After You Buy

Amazon Opens Cashier-Less Go Store: Just Walk Out After You Buy

Amazon has opened its first cashier-less Amazon Go store outside its hometown Seattle. The highlight of the stores which are under Amazon’s Go department, is the fact that customers don’t need to wait in line to check out their purchase. That’s right, just pick up what you want and walk out, as simple as that!

Obviously the products are not free of of cost and Amazon does have a solid process in place. The Amazon Go concept was introduced back in 2016. Since then, Amazon has opened a few stores. It basically had its employees come in and shop in these stores, testing it completely. When a customer walks in to the store, they swipe their phone against a sensor, which checks them in. Following this, a combination of cameras and sensors will track any item a customer picks up and add it to their virtual cart. As soon as you walk out of the store, the cart is updated. An e-recipt is sent to your amazon account so you can make the payment.

The store is open from 7 AM to 8 PM and offers ready- made lunches, drinks, snacks, frozen dinners and basic groceries. The timings, products and working of the store clearly defines its target audience. It caters to the busy workforce, which does not have time to prepare their own meals or even wait in line.

    Is Go The Future?

While the stores do lack cashiers, Amazon has not eliminated the need for human presence completely. The store still uses people for delivery, stocking and customer assistance. The main aim is to make a convenient check out process, whether it includes humans or not.

The tech giant uses several technologies to make this feat possible. A combination of computer vision, deep learning algorithms and sensor fusion help with each step along the way. To shop at the store, customers are required to download the Amazon Go app which is available for both iOS and Android devices. As of now, Amazon does not plan to expand outside the US. However, local tech companies in China are rivalling this model and have already opened chains of cashier-less stores. While they are not as technologically advanced as Amazon, they are catching up soon.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Leaked : Images And Specs

The upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has been leaked in what seems to be an alleged image of the device. The device was supposedly spotted on the Wi-Fi alliance certification website. This is the successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro which was launched earlier this year and has become one of the most popular devices in its price range.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro

This image posted on Reddit, gives us a brief glimpse at the specifications the device has. The Redmi Note 6 Pro will have a 6.2 inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The device has the same 4000 mAh battery as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Another feature is the dual camera setup both in the front and the back. The front features a 20 MP + 2 MP dual selfie camera. The main camera has a 12 MP + 5 MP dual sensor which is slightly different than its predecessor. This setup features a slightly larger sensor which could possibly help in better low light performance and improved pictures.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Vs Redmi Note 6 Pro:

If the leaked image is to be believed, we can make a few comparisons between the two devices. The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a larger 6.2 inch screen over the Note 5 Pro’s 5.9 inch display. It is also expected that the device will have a FHD+ display with a 19:9 ratio.

Despite the fact that the camera setup in both the devices is quite similar, we can expect significant improvements. The sensor in the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a larger 1.4um pixel along with Dual Pixel AF. A bigger jump in terms of the front camera is evident. The Redmi Note 6 Pro has a dual front camera setup. This will enhance the portrait shots taken by the device.

Along with this, the device is expected to carry all other regular features seen in Redmi devices such as AI Portrait Mode, AI Scene Detection, AI beautify mode. It is expected to have Face Unlock support too. Rumours also suggest that the device will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and have Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 10 out of the box.

    Launch:

The device is expected to be launched soon as it has already started appearing on certification websites. Having launched the Redmi Note 5 in India before China, it won’t be surprising if Xiaomi does the same this time around. The price and other details will be known closer to the launch. However, it it still a bargain as to how many Note 5 users will be willing to upgrade to the Note 6 this soon.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Reportedly Catches Fire

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Reportedly Catches Fire

A Samsung Galaxy Note 9 caught fire inside of a woman’s purse in New York, earlier this month. This claim was made in a lawsuit filed by the woman against Samsung. The woman hopes for a restraining order on the sales of the Note 9.

The report was filed by Diane Chung, who claims that she was in an elevator when this incident took place. She noticed that her Galaxy Note 9 had become incredibly hot and therefore stopped using her phone and dropped it into her purse. After a while she heard a ‘whistling and screeching sound’ and saw ‘thick smoke’ appearing from her bag. She then emptied her purse on to the floor of the elevator. However, it wasn’t until a passerby picked up the device with a cloth and dropped it into a bucket of water that the fire stopped.

Following this, she filed a lawsuit against Samsung which demands that a restraining order be placed on the sales of the Galaxy Note 9 and damages be offered to her.  This could be Samsung’s worst nightmare as its flagship device is now under scrutiny.

    Samsung’s Dilemma:

A similar case occurred with the infamous Samsung Galaxy Note 7 around two years back. The device had a battery flaw, which the company later discovered which led to multiple phones exploding or bursting into flames.

To avoid any such problems in the future, Samsung at that time created an eight-point inspection process for the batteries of its devices. This is suppose to be the best and beyond industry standards, according to Samsung. With the launch of the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung claimed that it is the safest device it made. It also added that users don’t have to worry about batteries anymore.

However, we might not be seeing a Note 7 kind of situation here. Samsung has said that no such incidents have been reported by other users. This could also mean that it was just one faulty device. Samsung is investigating the matter.  We will soon know the what really caused this issue and whether it is something users need to worry about.

The launch will take place in New York City on 2nd October and will see the company unveil a range of updated Surface devices. This will include a new Surface laptop, Surface Pro and Surface Studio.

From the first look at the images we can see that the Surface Laptop 2 has the same design and selection of ports. The changes we can expect are obviously on the inside. However, on external change which is visible is the availability of the device in a new black colour.

This will be replacing the Graphite Gold model available last year. The Surface Laptop was launched last year in Burgundy, Cobalt Blue, Graphite Gold and Platinum colours. It looks like the laptop will feature the same 13.5 inch PixelSense display. It will be built from aluminium and an Alcantara fabric wrapped keyboard, like before.
