  • Samsung SM-W2019 Flip Phone With Two Screens To Launch Soon

The upcoming Samsung SM-W2019 Smartphone will launch soon and has been spotted on TENAA. The flagship flip phone from Samsung will mostly have its availability restricted to China and not see a global launch. The device has two 4.2 inch screens, a Snapdragon 845 SoC and a 3,000 mAh battery among other features. The cost of the device is somewhere around the $ 2,000 price mark, like its predecessor.

    Specifications

The SM-W2019 has two, 4.2 inch Super AMOLED displays, according to reports. The device also has a dual camera setup just like the one in the Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy S9+. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and has 6 GB of RAM. The device sports a Bixby key and a USB Type-C port for connectivity and charging. A big upgrade has been in terms of the battery. While the SM-W2018 had a 2,300 mAh battery, the SM-W2019 has a 3,000 mAh battery. While many pointed out that a 3,000 mAh battery isn’t enough for two screens, it goes without saying that not both screens will be on at all times, hence solving this issue.

The flagship flip phone series was started by Samsung in December 2016. It announced the first of this series, the SM-W2017. This device had the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. It costs an outrageous $ 3,000 but still found its target market. In 2017, Samsung launched the SM-W2018 which ran on the Snapdragon 835 chipset and had a price tag of over $ 2,000. Not many people would value or find the need for such a phone in today’s world. However, it seems like Samsung does have quite a few fans for this series.

Apart from these few rumours and leaks, there is nothing else that is known about the device as of now. Though, it does look like Samsung will launch it this year itself, not letting the date get too close to the launch of the Galaxy S10 or the Note 10.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10 To Launch With A 6.6 Inch Display

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 To Launch With A 6.6 Inch Display

Smartphone industry insiders claim that the Note 10 will have a 6.66 inch screen. The claims are based on the specifications handed over by Samsung to its display manufacturing unit. This has been done so that work on the huge Super AMOLED panel can start early.

    Battle Of The Biggest

    Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The 6.66 inch display is an 8% bump in surface area from the Galaxy Note 9’s 6.4 inch display. The Galaxy Note 9 currently has the biggest display Samsung has ever made and this will surely beat it. It is also interesting to note that even though the Apple iPhone XS Max has a 6.5 inch screen, due to its aspect ratio and notch, its usable surface area is less than that of the Galaxy Note 9. Also joining the bandwagon of massive displays next year is a variant of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10. The Galaxy S10+ will have a 6.44 inch display as compared to the 5.8 inch display its other variants will have.

It is also noteworthy that Samsung has codenamed the Note 10 as ‘Da Vinci’. This could hint at better S Pen integration into the latest Note. We may see an upgraded experience and capability with the S Pen. Although the launch of the device is far away, Samsung has decided to finalise the specifications already. It has done this to have a longer development period. According to experts, they want to take their time and deliver a great product. The design is final and will be shown at the MWC in February 2019.

As of now, we will have to wait for some kind of confirmation from Samsung itself on this news. However, the gigantic screen is a possibility. These days, premium manufactures are taking it upon themselves to deliver the biggest and best screens. Coupled with the fact that Samsung is always on the lookout to better Apple, we could see a 6.66 inch display on the Galaxy Note 10.

The teaser on Instagram does not reveal anything about the device other than the name and the launch date. However, reports tell us some of the details. The software used in the phone is not Android, but is based on it. The device includes some security protocols which handle the required encryption for the safe transfer of currency, according to reports. The company also revealed that the device has a new trust execution environment. This keeps the cryptocurrency safe and secure in an ‘enclave’ within this trust zone. It also has a ‘Social Key Recovery’ which prevents hackers from getting access to your wallet.

    Siri Finney

A Switzerland based company, Sirin Labs was the first to make a  commercial Blockchain smartphone, going by the name Finney. The device features a built in ‘cold storage’, peer to peer resource sharing and other Blockchain elements. It features a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display also features a notch. The device has a 12 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera. The Finney costs $ 999 and is available on pre-order.

Google Brings Real Time Translate To All Assistant Enabled Headphones

The Google Pixel Buds are a pair of AI powered earphones which were launched back in 2017. They pack a lot of features such as touch controls, asking for directions, skipping songs and interaction via the Google Assistant. One of the greatest feature this integration brought is the ability for real time translation of languages. Earlier, this really cool feature required for you to have the Pixel Buds and a Pixel smartphone. Now, Google has opened up support for other Google Assistant enabled headphones and all Android devices.

Demonstrated at last year’s made by google event, the Pixel Buds can translate what a person in front of you is saying. They then translate your reply and play it back to them via the speakers of your Pixel Device. While this is a really helpful and cool feature, it didn’t really pick up. This is because the Pixel Buds weren’t a hit with customers and not everyone has a Pixel smartphone. However, this will change with the new announcement. Now you can access this feature using any Android device coupled with a Google Assistant enabled headphones.  The list of headphones which are capable of doing this at the moment is not very long. It includes the JBL Everest 710GA, Bose QuietComfort 35 II, Sony WH-1000XM2, Sony WI-1000X, OnePlus Bullets and a few more.

Those having any of the above  headphones along with an Android device with Google Assistant, will now be able to use the real-time translation feature. Google announced this through the support page for the Pixel Buds. However, one still needs an active data connection to use this feature.

The Google Pixel Buds are Google’s answer to the Apple Air Pods but did not live up to the expectations that the company had. However, this move by Google will surely change the way people use headphones.

  • World’s Fastest Camera Shoots 10 Trillion Frames Per Second

World’s Fastest Camera Shoots 10 Trillion Frames Per Second

Technology is moving forward at the speed of light, literally. The latest innovation called the T-CUP, is the world’s fastest camera, records upto 10 Trillion frames per second. This means that it can record events in super slow mo, freezing time in the process. What is more, it even records light in slow mo, allowing you to view light, as it moves forward.

    What It Packs

    World's Fastest Camera

A group of researchers at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Canada have developed this technology. It uses lasers which produce ultrashort pulses in the femtosecond range, which is 10-15 seconds. This frame is far too short for human beings to visualise. This allows for microscopic analysis of dynamic phenomena in biology and physics. The breakthrough is sure to ensure some interesting finds. For example, a laser-engraved glass can tolerate a single lens pulse , which leaves less than a picosecond (10-12) which makes the entire process very difficult to capture. With this new camera, scientists and researches can capture, observe and make deductions based on the footage.

The setup uses more than a single camera. It uses a femtosecond stream camera and a camera that acquires a static image. Combining these two images together, they then use a Radon transformation to obtain high-quality images. In simple language, what all this does is enable them to record it in high-quality, without losing the possibility of a clear image. The T-CUP will power an entire generation of microscopes which will change the way researches work. It makes it possible to analyse interactions between light and matter at an unparalleled temporal resolution.

The T-CUP ultra fast camera has already been used as a part of many experiments and broke records the first time it was used. It is exciting to see what new innovations will brought with the help of this camera.

  • Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Shown In Hands-On video

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Shown In Hands-On video

The alleged Xiaomi Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone has been leaked in a hands-on video. The video does not reveal much about the device but it does show the glowing RGB logo on the back and RGB-illuminated side strips. The glowing logo and side-strips look really good and have us excited about the upcoming device. The front of the device was not visible. However, we don’t expect many design changes as a leaked TENAA listing had shown that the device is very similar to the previous Black Shark.

Also Read : Razer Phone 2 Launched With Vapor Chamber Cooling For US$ 799

The leaks are on legitimate grounds as a Black Shark landing page recently popped up. This page does not reveal much except for the words ‘Sharks Approaching’. Looking closer, this gives us another clue. ‘Sharks’ hints at more than one device. This means along with the new smartphone, the Black Shark will see its Global launch. Earlier, the device was only available in China and in limited quantities.

The TENAA listing also reveals a similar design and almost identical specifications. However, the major specifications are not known yet. It is highly likely that this is a cheaper version of the Black Shark and not a true-blooded successor. The cheaper version expand the audience and also give access to those who wanted the gaming smartphone but fell short in terms of money.

The leak suggests that the new Black Shark 2 features a 5.99 inch display and a 4,000 mAh battery. This is exactly the same when compared to the previous device. However, we will have to wait till the launch to know the entire specifications of the device. The move to make the Black Shark available globally, if it is happening might have been a little delayed on Xiaomi’s part. With the ROG Gaming Phone and the Razer Phone 2 already out, the competition in the gaming smartphone segment is thicker than ever.

Apple has revealed that 50% of users are now running iOS 12 on their devices. This is a comparatively good number as opposed to the iOS 11 which had seen a slow start and lesser acceptance. Apple also adds that on only counting the devices launched in the last four years, the number shoots up to 53%.

This is a much faster adoption rate as compared to many of the previous versions of iOS. The ribs because the latest version offers an improvement in performance for older devices, which makes them faster than before. This is seen on the iPhone 6 Plus, for example.  After the update, apps launch upto 40% quicker and the keyboard appears over 50% faster on the iPhone 6 Plus. Along with this, animations are smoother and more responsive, along with scrolling in apps or entering the multitask view.

iOS 12 does bring along a few minor bugs which were a topic of discussion for many. The ‘charge gate’ and ‘beauty gate’ issue was a problem but a fix was provided by the iOS 12.1 update. However, a few issues have popped up due to the update. Apparently, devices are now sending iMessages to the wrong people, cellular reception is poor and some users are not able to receive calls. Additionally users are also complaining about the lack of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Users are also reporting increasing battery drain with the iOS 12.1 update.

This means that over 99% of Android devices do not run the latest version of the OS. Only 19.2 percent of the devices are running Android Oreo. The slow spread of Android maybe due to the large number of devices present in the market. Additionally, manufactures continue to launch smartphones that are not running the latest variant of Android.

It has an in-display fingerprint reader, which is present at the the bottom half of the screen. The display features a notch, which houses the front camera and an IR sensor for Face Unlock.

The new renders also show a different design, with the device having a traditional notch and not the water drop notch seen earlier. On the back, it has the triple rear camera setup, which is consistent with previous leaks. This is a 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP setup. The 40 MP sensor has an aperture of f/1.8 and combines four pixels into one for better image quality.

The 20 MP sensor is a telephoto unit with an aperture of f/2.4 and the third is an 8 MP ultra-wide angle sensor. When working together, these cameras enable 5x optical zoom and ultra macro shots. It has a 24 MP  front camera.

The Mate 20 Pro runs on the brand new Kirin 980 SoC, which is Huawei’s upcoming flagship processor. The processor is made with the 7nm process and is will be faster than the latest A12 Bionic form Apple, according to the company. The device will also have two NPUs (Neural Processing Units) which will help in analysing image content, optimising the scene and providing a better photo output.

    Battery & Storage

Under the hood, it packs a 4,200 mAh battery and is accompanied by a 40 W charger, which will take it from zero to 70 % in just 30 minutes. The phone also supports wireless charging. Interestingly, the device can also act as a wireless charger for the Huawei Freebuds 2, which will launch alongside the device.

  • New Apple iPad Pro And Apple Pencil 2 Set To Launch

New Apple iPad Pro And Apple Pencil 2 Set To Launch

While most expected to see the iPad Pro to launch along with the iPhone XS and the Apple Watch 4 at Apple’s special event, we were disappointed. However, fresh ‘evidence’ suggests that the iPad Pro will be releasing later this month and we can expect quite a few changes from it. The possibility of a new MacBook, AirPods 2 and even the AirPower charging pad are high.

Also Read: Samsung Galaxy A9 Launched With Five Camera Setup

Apple has reportedly registered new iPad models and a new Bluetooth device with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This tells us that we can expect not only the new iPad Pro but also the Apple Pencil along with it, which could be the bluetooth device in question. According to a website, Apple has registered A1876, A1980 and A1993 . These registration numbers are similar to those spotted earlier in a Apple file in the Eurasian Economic Commission.

    Specifications

Drawing from previous leaks and renders, the iPad Pro will launch in 12.9 inch and a 10.5 inch variants. It will have LCD panels. The device looks starkly different from previous generation of iPads with thin bezels and the lack of a home button, which hints at the presence of Face ID. The images also show the lack of a headphone jack and a new placement for the Smart Connector, which is towards the bottom middle, on the back. This placement is different and could be because Face ID does not work when you place the device horizontally.

The iPad Pro runs on an unreleased ‘A12X Bionic’ chipset from Apple, according to rumours. This chipset is faster than the A12 Bionic seen in the current iPhone models. It is made using the 7 nm process which might take the battery life and performance of the device to another level. The devices have 4 GB of RAM, with storage options of upto 512 GB.

The launch of the iPad Pro could be towards the end of this month. This time frame also coincides with the launch of the iPhone XR, so it would be a convenient slot for Apple. While there is no confirmation, we hope to see the launch of a new MacBook, the AirPods 2 and AirPower which Apple has been holding back for so long.
