  • Nokia 1100 is Still the Biggest Selling Handset in the World

Nokia 1100 is Still the Biggest Selling Handset in the World

How surprised would you be if we told you that the world’s best selling phone is not the iPhone but something very old and not a smartphone at all? Remember the classic old Nokia 1100, the phone we all perhaps began with? While the iPhone 6 may have sold 71 million units in about three months, the numbers have nothing on the Nokia 1100.

    Nokia 1100

The Nokia 1100 was an entry-level handset that came out in 2003. At the time it was perhaps the best thing to ever hit the mobile market. Lets consider this a 2003 post and talk of the specs that makes the phone a true badass. The handset does not come with two cameras, a curved screen or a snapdragon processor. What it does feature is a torch-light, a pair of no-slip grips, dust-proof case, monochrome graphic with, wait for it, 96 x 65 pixels, monophonic ringtones (36 pre-installed, 7 user-made), interchangeable covers, and an unbreakable will (we mean it).

    nokia-1100

This smooth handset can also store up to 50 contacts and 50 messages (25 sent, 25 received) and gives a whopping 400 hours standby time between charges. But the one thing that really tied this phone together was Snakes II and Space Impact – those 8-bit games that were played by 250 million people around the world.

We say 250 million because that’s how many units of the Nokia 1100 were sold by 2008, becoming not only the world’s best selling phone, but also the best selling consumer electronics device. There are many reasons behind why the 1100 was the craze at the time. For one thing, the phone was highly affordable at about $100 with all the features mentioned above, which were all that one needed at the time.

    nokia-1100

The phone was discontinued in 2008 because of the next wave of phones that were coming in, However, in 2009, the obsolete device became something of a collectors item as they were being sold for obscene amounts of money – say $32,000 a piece.

But if you thought you had seen the last of the Nokia 1100, think again. There are rumors that the classic handset might come back with a technological makeover. In March this year, the Nokia 1100 was seen in a GeekBench’s database and suggested that the 2016 Nokia 1100 will feature a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT-6582 processor and will reportedly run on Android 5.0. However, this could all be an elaborate ruse by Nokia to use an old model since under the terms of its deal with Microsoft, Nokia cannot offer a new smartphone under the last quarter of 2016. It would be fun, though, to see what the 1100 would look like fitted with all the new toys today.

Would you like to see the classic Nokia 1100 back in the market? Let us know in the comments below.

  • An App That Lets You Learn Anything For Free

An App That Lets You Learn Anything For Free

Seldom do you come across an app that actually makes you learn something. These days apps have taken over practically everything we used to make an effort to do. From buying your groceries to shopping for clothes, right from the comfort of your home. So how about an app that gives you free education for a change? And by free we really mean free.

Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization that was created in 2006, that offers “a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere”. The organization, founded by Salman Khan (not to be confused with the actor), began by producing micro lectures in the form of YouTube videos.

Now, the organization has extended their website in the form of an app. You can use the Khan Academy app to browse the platform’s collection of educational videos. You can also bookmark topics, while everything will be synced between the app and the website. The app is genuinely free, with no in-app purchases or user account requirement.

The app features a collection of thousands of videos of topics that range from math, science, economics and finance, arts and humanities, computing, and many more, which are broken down into sub-categories like history, music, physics, chemistry, macroeconomics, once you select a topic.

    Khan Academy

It also comes with a built-in search function that lets you find the topic and category you’re looking for more precisely. You even have the option to save videos for offline mode. As an educational app, Khan Academy is great for watching short videos on the go. As a free app it does more to provide education than most other apps you find these days. With almost 40 percent of the world with internet access, Khan Academy has the potential to reach far and wide.

    Khan Academy app

Now, while the app does provide useful educational videos, it still has some cons to it. Being a free app, you’re bound to find some lectures to be below par. Anyone can post lectures on any topic, but not everyone’s a certified teacher. Even founder Salman Khan has tried his hands at multiple course lectures, and has found some disagreement with his mathematical skills or his lack of preparation.

Another potential problem is the language. Though the organization’s ambition is education on a global scale, the language in the videos are mostly in English. The webpage does have a few popular languages to choose from like Spanish, French, or Portuguese.

But these are minor bugs when compared to what Khan Academy is offering for free i.e. education for all. The organization reaches out to those without proper educational accessibility or guidance. Educators are supporting the cause and students are appreciating the site’s straightforward and easy learning structure. Khan Academy is available on App Store and Google Play. So, download it now and spread the knowledge, people.

  • Here’s What You Can Expect From Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4

Here’s What You Can Expect From Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4

There’s an event happening on October 6 and invites for it are already out. Microsoft is gearing up unveil the new Surface Pro 4 along with the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. We’ve already spoken about the Lumia phones and what you can expect. Now we have some dirt on the Surface Pro 4 as well.

    Microsoft Invite

Whispers suggest that Microsoft is planning to come out with two variants of the Surface Pro 4. While one is expected to have a 12-inch display, much like the Surface Pro 3, the other is rumoured to feature a huge 14-inch screen with a 1440 x 2160 resolution and 185 ppi. The Surface Pro line are known for their sharp displays and the Surface Pro 4 looks to maintain the name. This could be Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s new iPad Pro, but we can only confirm this once the device is out in the open.

Other features of the upcoming Surface Pro 4 suggest that the tablet will use the new Skylake Core chipset from Intel. Up to 16 GB RAM will be available, with internal storage as high as 500 GB, and will run on the latest Windows 10 OS. We could also see a better battery backup as that’s one area that has been wanting.

    Microsoft Surface

In terms of design, makers at Microsoft have expressed that they are likely to stick with the current Surface Pro 3 look. You can also expect to see a new stylus in the offing considering the new Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 10 uses some new handwriting functions.

No information of what the Surface Pro 4 will cost, but it is expected to be priced similar to its predecessor, which means you could see a base price tag of $799. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 6th in New York City. Follow this space for updates on the announcements.

  • Motorola Ditches Some of its Bloatware with the Latest Android Upgrade

Motorola is removing bloatware in a big way, keeping its current lineup of smartphones something special for Android enthusiasts. The company plans to keep the phones light and clean without stuffing them with their own software and application. In an attempt to make the phones more Android pure, Motorola has announced which of its devices will be getting the Marshmallow upgrade and also announced that it would be deleting a few of its own software.

Specifically, Motorola will be removing in-house apps and services like Moto Assist, Motorola Migrate and the Motorola Connect (Chrome extension) and won’t preload them onto devices anymore.

    moto-assist

Here’s why this is a good thing – Bloatware takes up a lot of storage space and resources. The extra weight causes slower upgrade process. Many OEMs have taken advantage of Android’s wide scope of applications and have generally stuffed their phones with applications that not only take up space but also don’t particularly enhance user experience since most of the apps are hardly ever used.

Motorola senior VP of software engineering Seang Chau understands why the company doesn’t need to add bloatware to its phone – because if users want an extra application, they can download it from the Google Play, that likely does better than what OEMs offer.

    Moto X Play 3

“The release of a new Android version is a great time to take a fresh look at our signature Moto Enhancements to ensure we’re complementing Android (not competing with it),” Motorola explains. “Both of these products were valuable in their time but the world has moved on and they no longer add enough value to justify taking up space in your device.”

This is how Motorola is finding acceptance among Android fans. Not many companies out there would accept that their own services don’t actually improve the overall user experience. Motorola has come to stand out as one of the very best Android OEMs when it comes to not taking up storage space and resources with its own applications.

For existing Motorola users, here’s a full list of devices that will be getting the upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the deleted bloatware:

    • 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen)
    • 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen)
    • 2015 Moto X Play
    • 2015 Moto G (3rd gen)
    • 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen)
    • 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2 (2nd gen)
    • 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE2 (2nd gen)
    • DROID Turbo
    • 2014 Moto MAXX
    • 2014 Moto Turbo
    • Nexus 6

The company will be releasing more information on the timing of these phone upgrades in the coming weeks.

  • Microsoft Acquires Physics Firm Havok to Boost Gaming Efforts

Microsoft Acquires Physics Firm Havok to Boost Gaming Efforts

Something is cooking up at Microsoft in the gaming department. The company recently bought Irish physics firm Havok for an undisclosed amount. Havok is behind games such as Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Elder Scrolls, and Microsoft’s own Halo, and is one of the leading firms in 3D physics. It looks like Microsoft is planning big things by integrating Havok’s physics engine into the existing Windows and Xbox toolset.

Havok has been known for real-time collisions and dynamics of rigid bodies in 3D. By using dynamical simulation, Havok Physics allows for more realistic virtual worlds in games. “Throughout the company’s history, they’ve partnered with Activision, EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and many others to create more than 600 games,” Microsoft stated in a blog. The firm is also known for powering more special effects for films like The Matrix and Troy.

Havok shares Microsoft’s vision for empowering people to create worlds and experiences that have never been seen before, and we look forward to sharing more of this vision in the near future.

In 2007, Intel had acquired Havok, and now Microsoft has taken over. The company is excited to add Havok to its portfolio for developer tools and components like DirectX 12, VisualStudio app development kit, and the Azure cloud platform. Microsoft said that it plans to continue letting Havok license its technology with existing and future gaming platforms.  “We will continue to license Havok’s technology to the broad AAA games industry,” Microsoft said in a statement to IGN. “This also means that we will continue to license Havok’s technology to run across various game consoles including Sony and Nintendo.”

  • Coding for the Entrepreneurial Heart

    Coding for the Entrepreneurial Heart

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Silicon Valley was a lot more than just a meeting to bring the heads of Google, Microsoft and Facebook together to invest in India. Beyond the ‘Digital India’ campaign lies a call for young computer engineers in India to create.

The PM has seen the future, and it is a digital future. Think about it. Everything we see, hear about, learn, or need is most likely found on the internet or through an app. There’s practically an app for everything today. There was a time when standard phone messaging was all that existed until someone developed Whatsapp and Snapchat and completely changed the way people interact through messages. Now standard SMS has practically become obsolete.

    Coding

Every programmer needs to know coding to bring their ideas online. If you’ve always dreamed of creating an iOS or Android app, or full-fledged website, then Siddhant Puri, an Electric Engineer and Computer Science graduate from UC Berkeley, has some tips and suggestions on how to get started.

     Why learn coding?

“Obama & will.I.am tried to learn how to code. It’s strange how the tables have turned. Society suddenly respects that kid who used to be on the computer on IRC channels just derping on the internet and learning more about it.” – Siddhant Puri

Until a few years ago, you would be scouring all over your city looking for various products, and then there came apps such as Amazon and eBay that made sure you wouldn’t need to leave your house to buy something.

    Apps

Apps have not only made life ridiculously easy for us but it has also opened up new possibilities and opportunities for those who have created the apps and made them what it is today. Anyone can create an app based on a simple idea. But before they can do that, they need to know the ‘how to’ aspect. This is where coding comes into play.

A programmer fails 10,000 times before progressing.

The first thing you need to do is know what you want to create. “Instead of learning for the sake of learning, learn with a purpose,” says Puri. It can be an app or a personal website, as long as it is something definitive. Secondly, patience is the key for any programmer. Every website or app will come with its own set of bugs and glitches which can drive you insane if you’re not patient enough about it.

You can always Google for help related to what you want to do and how to go about it. However, here are a few helpful sites suggested by Puri that can help you get started.

Treehouse: This is a paid website where you can learn practically everything from web designing to app development. The site offers hundreds of courses across various topics such as HTML, Javascript, WordPress, iOS, and Android that allows for an in-depth study. The website is useful for both beginners and professionals alike, and it’s worth every penny.

StackOverflow: This is basically Reddit for programmers. It is a place where questions related to bugs and glitches or any programming related queries can be posted and can be answered by anyone.

Coursera: This is a course conducted by University of Michigan. It is a 2-month course that covers the fundamentals of programming using Python and is useful for anyone who has a lot of time on their hands. The applications have already begun and the deadline for the current session (September 15 – November 9) end on October 6th.

Codecademy: With over 25 million users, Codecademy is a great place to learn the basics of coding and connect with other young entrepreneurs. Watch how one developer made it big by joining Codecademy.

Udacity: Offers full programs that guide you step by step. This is perhaps one of the most thorough sites out there that helps you immerse yourself in coding, but it is an expensive affair. “I’ve personally met the team and the course managers and they are a very determined group of people trying to make this process very fruitful for you. This would be my recommendation if money was not an issue,” Puri says.

Finally, whatever course you do plan on taking, and if you are determined to learn the art of coding, you need to stick to it. Having a mentor or finding a community will really help you with your goal.

“And make sure the first line of code you print is HELLO WORLD.”

Why ‘Hello World’? It’s because it is typically one of the simplest programs possible in most programming languages, it is by tradition often used to illustrate to beginners the most basic syntax of a programming language.

    So get to it, dreamers.

    hello_world

A special thanks to Siddhant Puri for sharing his experience straight from Silicon Valley.

  • 9 New Features of the OS X El Capitan

9 New Features of the OS X El Capitan

Apple released the latest upgrade to its desktop operating system on Wednesday. The OS X El Capitan is now available as a free upgrade for all Mac users using a 2009 model or newer, and also for some 2007 models as well.

Apple has tried to redefine the Mac experience with a host of new improvements, both big and small, that adds a little something extra to your Mac. From Notes and Safari to Spotlight and Split View, there’s something to be found everywhere.

    Find the cursor

This is perhaps the smallest improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. Mac users have found it a bit of problem when it comes to locating the little mouse on the screen. However, with the new upgrade, all you have to do is quickly move your fingers across the trackpad or shake the mouse quickly and the cursor grows in size so that you can spot it easily on screen.

    Split View

    splitview-mac

Apple has already introduced the Split View feature with the iOS 9 for the iPads, now El Capitan OS follows suit. Split view allows two applications to run side by side. There are two ways you can get the split screen activated. You can click and hold the green zoom button of a window and then drag it into place, or open up Mission Control (F3) and drag the two apps of your choice into the same thumbnail at the top.

    Spotlight search with natural language

By natural language we mean the way you would naturally speak when looking up something. For example, you could enter “find mail from Sam regarding flight details” and you will get exactly what you were looking for. Basically, Spotlight now has a better grasp of language.

    New Mail gestures

    mail-gestures

Like the Split View, Apple has borrowed from iOS for the Mail app as well. OS X El Capitan can now allow you to delete mails and access other options by using two fingers to swipe on an item. Mail also recognizes contacts and events in you messages and helps you call or add events to your calendar.

    More to do with Notes

The latest iOS 9 brought a whole bunch of changes to the Notes app. The same changes can now be found in the Mac. You can create checklists, import maps and pictures, or insert text formatting. The improvements are still short of Evernote, but the company is getting close.

    Send individual videos via AirPlay

Earlier, if you wanted to send a video from Safari to your friends or to the AppleTV, you would have had to share your entire browser window for that. With the new upgrade you can now send just the video. In Safari, click on the AirPlay option just below a YouTube video and you can select your desired destination. It works with YouTube right away, with support for other services to come soon.

    Pin tabs in Safari

    pintab-safari

You can now pin sites that are most frequently visited to a new browser tab at the left-hand side of the tab bar. This allows you to quickly access them with just a click. Pinned sites automatically open when the browser is opened.

    Skip the Trash

    Trash-Mac

This gives you the option to permanently delete any file you like rather than temporarily deleting them. It saves you the trip of having to go to the trash bin. Press Option+Cmd+Delete to erase files immediately. You can find the option in the Files menu once you select the files you want deleted.

    Hide menu bar

The new update gives you more screen space by making the menu bar disappear at the top of your interface automatically the same way as the bottom dock. Go to System Preferences via Apple menu, then go to General heading, and select Automatically hide and show the menu bar.

  • OnePlus X to Have an October Launch, S801 SoC

OnePlus X to Have an October Launch, S801 SoC

OnePlus came out with its Flagship OnePlus 2 a few months ago. Prior to the launch of the OnePlus 2, the company stated that it is working on a second device for 2015. There have been rumours that this second device will be a scaled down version of the OnePlus 2. The expected phone has been called OnePlus Mini or OnePlus X by many, and more recent rumours are tilting towards X, so we’ll go with X.

    OnePlus X

We have already seen leaked renders of the upcoming device like the one shown above. The upcoming OnePlus X is rumoured to sport a design different to the OnePlus 2, and if this is the case it might certainly be called X rather than Mini. The reason behind the design change, apparently, is because not everyone liked the look of the OnePlus 2. If the images are true, the new device does have a clean, sleek look to it as compared to the recent flagship.

Some specs of the upcoming OnePlus device have also been leaked, which suggest that the phone will sport a 5-inch display, which is 0.5 inches smaller than the OnePlus 2 and will be powered by a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor. The fingerprint scanner is likely to be located below the rear camera.

If the SoC rumour is true, you can expect OnePlus’ upcoming device to fall just below $250 (Rs.16000 approx.) However, that’s only a general guess at the moment. The phone is expected to come out in October, according to Gizmochina

  • Google Answers Questions Regarding the Nexus Devices on Reddit

Google Answers Questions Regarding the Nexus Devices on Reddit

Just a couple of days ago, Google officially launched the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P devices. The initial response to the devices have been mixed, to say the least. There have been some strong criticism directed towards the Nexus 5X, in particular. Google has come out with a few answers to questions posed by Redditors.

Some of the main issues revolved around the lack of a Qi wireless charging support (a first since the Nexus 4) and a limited 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage as the baseline. Google answered the former by stating that they felt the USB Type-C charge was good enough and a wireless charge seemed unnecessary, and would have also added to the thickness of the device. “With this year’s Nexii, we support USB Type-C which has a reversible connector so there’s no more guessing. AND it charges incredibly swiftly: 1% to 100% in 97 mins on the 6P for example (the first ~45 mins of charging is especially fast). Meanwhile, wireless charging adds z (thickness),” the Nexus team said in an AMA on Reddit.

As for the latter question regarding the 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage, which was offered two years ago with the Nexus range, the company stated that what they wanted to offer with the Nexus 5X is good value for money.  “We like to think we’re striking a strong balance between premium features/experiences and affordability,” said Krishna Kumar, the product manager Google put in charge of the Nexus 5X team.

The team also answered a frequently asked question on the site as to whether the cameras on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were identical. Kumar replied saying yes.

Both devices have the same camera – a 12.3MP camera, with large 1.55um pixels, which works great in all conditions – especially low light. And both have LDAF for fast auto-focus.” Dave Burke later adds, “[they have the] same sensor (IMX377) and F/2.0 optics. But 6P has more CPU/GPU horsepower so has a few additional features like 240fps slomo (vs 120fps on 5X), Smartburst, and EIS.”

And finally, regarding the naming of the devices as X and P, the Nexus team stated, “X for the core of the Nexus brand (plus it sounds cool!), P for premium.”

  • Logitech’s G410 Mechanical Keyboard is a Gamer’s Delight

    Logitech’s G410 Mechanical Keyboard is a Gamer’s Delight

Logitech has come out with a new gaming keyboard, the G410 Atlas Spectrum. Logitech says that fans have been asking for a smaller keyboard that did away with keys that were of no use to gaming whatsoever. So the company did just that with the G410, which has a tenkeyless design (i.e no number pad or macro keys).

    Logitech+G410

The tenkeyless keyboard makes the G410 small and light enough to carry around in your bag. The smaller board also makes it easier to identify keys for gaming and allows for a smoother, easier gameplay.

The keyboard is built around the custom-designed Romer-G mechanical switches. This means the keys have a shallow actuation point (1.5 mm of travel) and is designed to have a softer click as well. The company also says that the Romer-G switches register key presses up to 25 percent faster than its competitors.

    wasd2.0

Users who still prefer the old-school way of having a mechanical keyboard and who enjoy the loud clicks may find softer voice of the G410 a little too subtle. However, newcomers are sure to love the smaller, lighter board and the RGB (Red-Green-Blue) LED keys that light up the board beautifully when your fingers press on a key.

Typing on the G410 will surely bring back your early PC memories. It has everything a gamer could want, and everything else for everyday use. The G410 is easy to type accurately on, with keys that are easy to find by touch and can be pressed with very little force. However, those who prefer the hard clicking sound of the Logitech G310 will perhaps want to stick with the older keyboard.

Companies like Alienware and Razer have already used multi-colours inside their keyboards, but Logitech cleverly uses those lights to bring a sense of joy in typing, gaming, or simply looking at it. See the keyboard light up in the video below.

The Logitech G410 goes on sale in October at a price of $129.99 in the United States and €149 in Europe. No details yet as to when it will reach India. The G310 Atlas Dawn, however, is available in India on Amazon for Rs. 7,291.

  • Twitter is Moving Beyond the Trademark 140 Character Limit

Twitter is Moving Beyond the Trademark 140 Character Limit

Twitter is finally moving past the 140-character limit that has long been the company’s trademark. Twitter recently announced that it is working on a product that will allow users to share long tweets that exceed 140 characters.

Over the past few months, the company has been loosening its 140-character rule. In April, Twitter added a ‘retweet with comment’ option to give more room to comment on tweets they share. The company also did away with the 140-character rule back in June.

As of now it is unclear what this new product will  look like or how it will work. There are existing apps such as OneShot that allows you to post images of texts, or TwitLonger, which directs users to a website to read a full tweet. But it looks like Twitter is working on one that will solve the problem within the app itself.

Twitter is also looking at ways to remove links and user handles from the count so that frees up more characters.

In addition to the long-form product, execs have been openly discussing the idea of tweaking how Twitter measures its 140-character limit by removing things like links and user handles from the count, multiple sources say. In the past, Twitter has tinkered with the limit in other ways. Twitter Cards are still beholden to the 140-character limit but are intended to help people (and advertisers) share lots of information, and Twitter added a “retweet with comment” option in April to give people more room to comment on tweets they share.

Users have, for a long time, criticized Twitter on character restriction. And for many years Twitter has paid no heed to the hate, but it finally looks like the company is ready to make some sacrifices for the greater good.

  • BlackBerry Releases First Official Images of the Priv

BlackBerry Releases First Official Images of the Priv

BlackBerry has released official images of what the upcoming Priv smartphone looks like. It seems companies have grown tired of unofficial leaks and have decided to provide the details themselves knowing that images and specs are destined to come out weeks before a launch.

On Tuesday, BlackBerry revealed the first official photos of the security-focused Android device, the Priv. “Priv users will enjoy choice, innovation, security, privacy and productivity. In other words, no compromises,” BlackBerry said in its blog post along with the images. The photo below shows the device’s slide-out keyboard feature and also a curved display that is reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge.

    blackberry-priv-official

Along with this, BlackBerry has revealed two other photos that show a side profile of the Priv, both open and closed.

The side profile shows a slender device that has managed to stay that way despite having a traditional slider feature.

The company has not revealed the prices or a specific release date, however, it is likely that the Priv will come out towards the end of the year. The company also said that more images, specs and features will be known in the coming weeks. From what we know already, the Priv will have a 5.5-inch curved display and is rumoured to come with an 18-megapixel camera, a hexa-core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM. However, you can expect official details soon enough.

  • Customer Match by Google Will Target Ads Using Your Email Address

Customer Match by Google Will Target Ads Using Your Email Address

Google is letting advertisers in on your email address so that they can get you exactly what you’re looking for. And yes, this is a new feature by Google. The company is rolling out a new tool called Customer Match, which allows advertisers to use a list of email addresses to target specific users across Google. So now you can be tracked online by your Gmail address.

When you buy a smartphone, for example, from an online retailer and provide your email address, the retailer will feed your email id along with your recent purchase to the Google server. So the next time you’re surfing the net while logged in to your Gmail account, Google will be able to send you a whole bunch of ads related to you recent smartphone purchases such as phone covers, earphones, and other accessories.

“Let’s say you’re a travel brand. You can now reach people who have joined your rewards program as they plan their next trip. For example, when these rewards members search for “non-stop flights to new york, on Google.com, you can show relevant ads at the top of their search results on any device right when they’re looking to fly to New York. And when those members are watching their favorite videos on YouTube or catching up on Gmail, you can show ads that inspire them to plan their next trip.” Sridhar Ramaswamy, Google’s ads and commerce veep explained in a blog.

Google is perhaps trying to catch up with Facebook and Twitter who also use your respective email addresses to provide targeted ads within their site. Google calls Customer Match a “privacy-safe” product, but it is still a matter of concern for users who feel that advertisers are getting even more specific with their ad targeting, which calls into question just how much ‘they’ know about you. .

Google, however, has stated that companies will not be able to create personalized profiles of individuals and the tool mainly allows them to compile a list of the user’s habits on YouTube, Google search, and other Google related services. Customer Match will be available to advertise in the coming weeks and you can soon expect to see more specific advertisements pop up in your Gmail account, YouTube, and Google search.
