  • Leaked Images Confirm Names Of Nexus Devices

Leaked Images Confirm Names Of Nexus Devices

Just a few days ago, we had reported leaks that suggested the names of the two Nexus smartphones that will be launched on September 29 at the Google event – the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Now, some leaked images of the retail boxes confirm the names for good.

Nexus 5X and 6P Reatail Box

As you can see, the images of the retail box obtained by Android Police sport a large X for the Nexus 5X and a large P for the Nexus 6P, with what could be the Android stock wallpaper within. You can also see the Nexus logo on the bottom right while the upper left side reveals the model’s name, storage, and a silhouette of the phone.

We know that LG is responsible for the 5X and Huawei is behind the 6P. A lot has already been leaked on the specs of the phones such as  a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core chipset, with 3 GB of RAM, a 5.7-inch display; a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front for the Huawei 6P.

The LG Nexus 5X, on the other hand will feature a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, Adreno 418 GPU with 3 GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display; a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front, with a 2700mAh battery.

Rumours also suggest that the Huawei Nexus 6P will come in a 128 GB variant which is a first for a Google developed device. Both the devices will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Also, the devices are said to sport fingerprint sensors and USB Type-C ports as well.

We’re a little less than a week away from the launch of the Nexus smartphones and we have pretty much everything we need to know about the devices in terms of specs and now the names, if the leaks are all true. The only thing that remains is the look of the phones, and don’t be surprised if leaked images of the device emerge just before the event. Follow this space for more on the Google launch.

  • Huawei Nexus 6P To Come With 128 GB Storage

Huawei Nexus 6P To Come With 128 GB Storage

It’s 2015 and our tolerance for 16 GB storage is almost coming to an end. Google is hearing your wishes loud and clear, the result of which will be seen by the end of the month. According to a report by Android Police, the upcoming Huawei Nexus 6P will feature a cool 128 GB of internal storage. The phone will also be available in 32 GB and 64 GB variants.

If the report is true, it would make the Huawei Nexus the first Google developer device to offer such a high storage capacity. Last year’s Nexus 6 had 32 GB and 64 GB variants. Google’s next flagship phablet is unlikely to feature a MicroSD card slot. The three variants will be separated by a price difference of anywhere between $50-100. The LG Nexus 5X that will be launched along with Huawei Nexus 6P, will be offered in 32 GB and 64 GB variants.

Other features of the Nexus 6P include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core chipset, with 3 GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch display. Both Nexus’ will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and will debut on September 29th at the event in San Francisco. So if you’re looking to go big on storage for your next smartphone, you may want to start saving up from now.

Google Expected To Finally Upgrade Chromecast After Two Years

According to 9to5Google, via some ‘internal documents’, Google is planning to unveil a new Chromecast streaming-media device at their upcoming San Francisco event on the 29th of September 2015.

Chromecast is a pen-drive type device that you can connect to the back of your TV in order to stream content from your laptop or phone. It was a great hit back when it was announced in 2013, and has continued to thrive because of its 35$ price tag; that’s a mere Rs.2,305 approximately, as compared to other similar devices which are priced between 50 to 100 dollars.

The new Chromecast is also expected to come with a new rounder looking design, thereby doing away with the whole ‘dongle’ look.Other upgrades include faster WiFi and something called Fast Play. We should also note that Google’s competitors, Amazon and Apple have since unveiled new streaming-media boxes, in the two years that Google did not upgrade theirs. So let us wait and watch how successful this new Chromecast will be, especially with the holiday season around the corner.

  • New Google Doodle Celebrates MF Hussain’s 100th Birthday

New Google Doodle Celebrates MF Hussain’s 100th Birthday

Today Google has a very ‘artsy-fartsy’ doodle with MF Hussain in it. Why? Well it’s his 100th birth anniversary. So we’re going to tell you a bit about him, maybe you already know this stuff, or maybe you don’t but here we go anyway.

    M.F. Husain’s 100th Birthday

Hussain was born into a Muslim family on the 17th of September 1915, his family trace their roots way back to Yemen, but were based in Maharashtra. Hussain became interested in art while studying calligraphy in a Madrasa and is well known for being ‘self-taught’. Forbes magazine has gone to the extent of calling him the “Picasso of India”, whether he is or not, is a whole other topic.

But what was he best known for? It’s hard to say because his topics ranged from Mohandas K. Gandhi, Mother Teresa, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the British Raj, and motifs of Indian urban and rural life. His work was applauded and criticized equally as it is said to be a “blend of cubism and classical Indian styles”. Now, we all know what happens when you try to mess with the Indian classical version of things. But, Google has made a decent attempt at trying to showcase the artist’s style through this doodle.

It is refreshing to know that this art maestro was also linked with the Mumbai cinema industry in his early days when he would make posters for films and also apparently worked for a toy company to earn a little extra money. That’s a humble background for someone who owns a Buggati Veyron and drives it with equal finesse as his art.

Oh! The Buggatti isn’t the only luxury car he owned.

  • Huawei Nexus Passes GeekBench With Snapdragon 810 and 3 GB RAM

Huawei Nexus Passes GeekBench With Snapdragon 810 and 3 GB RAM

In an earlier post we had mentioned that Google is planning to launch two new Nexus phones on the 29th of September – LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus. New leaks have been found ahead of the Google event that reveal a few key specs of the Huawei Nexus. The phone codenamed ‘Huawei Angler’ was found to have passed through the GeekBench benchmark software.

As the image shows, the Huawei Nexus will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, with 3 GB of RAM, and will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The new OS will debut along with the Nexus smartphones on the 29th.

Other rumours that have surfaced on the Huawei Nexus in the past suggest that the phone will either have a 5.5 or 5.7 inch screen, with either 1080p or QHD display. The phone is also rumoured to have a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner. We’ll have to wait for the 29th to see how many of these rumors are true. • Google Finally Releases its NFC Payment System Android Pay

Google Finally Releases its NFC Payment System Android Pay

Android Pay, the revamped Google Wallet app, was launched in the US in a number of locations. The Android Pay will be a one-touch payment app much like the Apple Pay, using NFC technology and Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

    Android-Pay

Existing Google Wallet customers can update the app and see it morph into the Android Wallet. Google launched a separate app Google Wallet app that focuses on person-to-person payments between friends and family like Square Cash and Venmo.

In their blog Google describes the new app as “easy, fast, and free to send money directly from your bank account, debit card or Wallet Balance. When you receive money through Google Wallet, you can spend it using your Google Wallet Card wherever Debit MasterCard® is accepted in the US, use your Wallet Card to withdraw it from participating ATMs, or cash out to a debit card or linked bank account.”

    google wallet

However, as of now if one tries to download the new app, users will not find it as Android Pay, but rather Google Wallet (New) with its logo similar to the old Google Wallet app but with softer colors much like the recently changed Google logo. This can cause some confusion to users initially. Google will most likely work out the bugs and come out with a separate Android Pay.

The app will be made available in new locations and will support Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards from banks including Bank of America, US Bank, PNC, and others. The app will come pre-loaded on new Android phones. No details on when the app will come to India.

  • 13th October: The Pre-Order Date for LG and Huawei Nexus Phones

13th October: The Pre-Order Date for LG and Huawei Nexus Phones

The tech world has been abuzz with the news of the Google’s new Nexus smartphones for which it has been working with LG and Huawei. Rumours are pretty much confirmed about these two new additions to the smartphone industry.

The smartphones are believed to be launching on the 29th of this month. However, Google has kept the buyers in the dark for a while regarding the date when they will be available for order. But lo and behold for there seems to be a date made public for this as well now. If rumours are to be believed, the new smartphones will be available for pre-order by the 13th of October. News about the shipping of the duo remains unknown.

The tentative date for the pre-order is about a fortnight post the assumed launch. This is fairly early than the previous Nexus launches in the past where there was a time gap of at least three weeks between the launch and pre-order dates. Let’s see if they choose to position the pre-launch sooner than usual this time, or if the buyers are in for a disappointment with a delayed pre-order date.

  • LG Nexus 5X to Arrive on 29th Of September, Priced at $400

LG Nexus 5X to Arrive on 29th Of September, Priced at $400

According to the most recent reports, LG is planning to release a new Nexus smartphone, which is expected to be more expensive than the Nexus 5.

    Nexus-5-2015

The reports about this new handset suggest that the new Nexus will be made available in the Google Store from 29th September 2015. The speculated name for this product is expected to be Nexus 5X Moniker and might be priced at $400.

However, these reports have not been confirmed by Nexus officially. So we only have to wait and watch.

  • Google Expected to Unveil Two Nexus Phones on 29th September

If reports are to be believed, Google has a tentative event lined up for September 29th in San Francisco. The event would mark the launch of two new Nexus smartphones equipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

    Nexus 6 in 2014
    Nexus 6 in 2014

While one phone will be built by LG, the other is going to be a Huawei phone. The LG phone is going to be an upgraded version of the 5.2-inch Nexus 5 but smaller in size at around 4.7 inches. The Huawei phone, on the other hand, will be a tad bigger at 5.7 inches. Rear-mounted fingerprint sensors and USB Type-C ports are two other interesting features to look forward to.

Android loyalists all over the world have touted Nexus phones as Google “flagships” gadgets for the latest Android software, viewing it as a version free from the eventual tweaking and meddling by different companies in the tech world. The phones therefore can be expected to be free from any third-party interferences, inevitably making them more in demand by the developers and by people looking for the fastest Android updates directly from Google.

Faster processors, more RAM, Force Touch control, and better front and rear cameras are some of the other features to get you excited about these new smartphones. The only uncertain aspect so far is the price. It would be interesting to see how it positions itself in a market with competitively priced phones already by companies like Motorola, ZTE, Huawei and Alcatel.
