  • Nokia Smartphone With Triple Cameras And Notch-Less Display Leaked

Nokia Smartphone With Triple Cameras And Notch-Less Display Leaked

HMD Global has almost made a comeback to the smartphone market with its extensive lineup of smartphones. The Nokia phones now cover every segment from budget phones to flagship phones. The company is not holding back in terms of design and features when it comes to their phones. A latest leak points at more of the same. An upcoming smartphone from Nokia, most probably a flagship phone has been leaked in images. The phone has a triple rear camera setup and what appears to be a bezel less and notch less display.

The images surfaced on Weibo, the Chinese social networking site and are what appear to be hands-on images of a Nokia smartphone. The phone sports a glass back with a vertically arranges triple rear camera and an LED flash right below that module. The back also houses the Nokia branding. While the triple rear camera is not very surprising in today’s day and age, it is a step up from the current Nokia design language which has only dual rear cameras.

However, the most interesting part of the leak is the front of the device. The display sports thick bezels on each side, including a really thick bottom chin. However, it lacks a notch or camera cutout of any sort and it is not clear as to where the front camera is located. It is therefore logical to assume that Nokia has also jumped on to the sliding camera bandwagon with this phone.

This means that a sliding panel beneath the display will house the front facing camera and the associated sensors. It could also point towards a pop up camera, which was seen on the Vivo Nex. Another striking feature is the lack of a physical fingerprint reader on the back. This hints at an in-display fingerprint sensor fitted into the phone.

However, the leak does not look totally convincing. For starters, the phone does not carry the Zeiss branding along with the camera setup. Being a flagship level phone, it is obvious that this Nokia should have Zeiss optics. Another issue is the odd design which has extremely thick bezels and and a massive chin. If the company has put in so much effort into this phone, it surely wouldn’t bring out such a dated design. But then again, that is what we thought about the high notch and the Pixel 3 XL and that turned out to be true!

The event will most probably see the launch of the Nokia 2.1 Plus, the Nokia 8.1 and the Nokia 9 PureView. A recent leak has shown the covers for the Nokia 9 and the Nokia 8.1 listed online. • Nokia 2.1 Plus Specs Revealed Through Listing

Nokia 2.1 Plus Specs Revealed Through Listing

Sometime back, a Nokia device with the model number TA-1136 was spotted at Bluetooth SIG. At that time, the device was believed to be the Nokia 8.1, which is the international version of the Nokia X7, owing to its Bluetooth 5.0 support. However, the TA-1136 model has now received approval from the FCC in the US and the listing has revealed some of the specifications of the device. The specifications reveal that this is not the Nokia 8.1, but the possibly the Nokia 2.1 Plus.

The Nokia 2.1 was launched earlier this year and offered really attractive features at a low price. The company also claims that the device offers a 2-day battery life.

The addition of the Plus to its name indicates that the phone will sport a larger display. The Nokia 2.1 has a 5.5 inch display, so we can expect something bigger than that. Additionally, the RAM and storage variants listed on the site reveal that it is indeed a successor to the Nokia 2.1. The listing has a phone with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. While the Nokia 2.1 had only 8 GB of storage, the larger storage capacity might owe itself to the Plus moniker.

However, the listing also reveals that the device will not be available in the US. The phone does not have 5 GHz Wi-Fi support, which means that HMD Global will be disabling some of the network bands on the device, causing it to be unavailable in the US.

While the display size and storage options might be different from the Nokia 2.1, as mentioned above, the rest of the specifications on the Nokia 2.1 Plus might remain the same.

    Nokia 2.1 Specs

The Nokia 2.1 has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with a 1280 x 720 resolution. The display and a 16:9 aspect ratio with a 267 ppi pixel density, along with Gorilla  Glass for protection. The phone has an aluminium frame along with a plastic back.

  • Nokia 8.1 To Launch In India This Month At Rs 23,999

Nokia 8.1 To Launch In India This Month At Rs 23,999

The Nokia 8.1 will launch in India this month itself, according to a report. The report also claims that the Nokia 8.1 is the global variant of the Nokia X7 which was launched in China recently. However, there is no word on the global launch of the device as yet. But the source claims that it has got to know through retail sources that the device might launch in India on the 28th of November. What’s more. the retail source also claims that the device will be priced at Rs 23,999.

    Nokia 8.1

Earlier reports had suggested that the Nokia 8.1 is a completely new device. This report says that it is the global variant of the Nokia X7. While most expected the X7 to be launched as the Nokia 7.1 Plus, it now seems like that will not be the case.

The Nokia X7 has a 6.18 inch FHD+ LCD display with a 2280 x 1080 px resolution. The phone has a notch on the display and sports a chin at the bottom with the Nokia branding on it. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. With the Adreno 616 GPU. The device has 4 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM variants. It also has 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, which can be expanded up to 400 GB via a microSD card.

  • Nokia 8.1 To Launch Soon, Runs On Snapdragon 710

Nokia 8.1 To Launch Soon, Runs On Snapdragon 710

The Nokia 8.1 was spotted on Geekbench a few weeks back. It has now popped up on the list of Google’s ARCore supported devices. With these listings already out, it is said that HMD will launch the smartphone soon. Other specifications of the device include the Snapdragon 710 SoC, 4 GB of RAM and Android 9 Pie. There are some speculations that this could be the Nokia X7 which was launched in China last month, as its specifications match that of the alleged Nokia 8.1.

    Nokia 8.1 Or X7

However, it is possible that this could another device. Since the Nokia X7 has a 6.18 inch display, it will most probably carry the ‘Plus’ title after its name. As Nokia usually does with larger screen devices. Therefore, the X7 might be the Nokia 7.1 Plus while the Nokia 8.1 will sport a slightly smaller 5.9 inch display. ARCore is a kit developed by Google to allow augmented reality applications for a certain smartphone to be built. Therefore, the inclusion of ARCore support in the 8.1 could mean that we would see more AR integration in the camera. This could include elements such as stickers and even interactive animations.

Earlier, the Geekbench listing of the Nokia 8.1 had given us some more specifications about the device. The geek bench listing showed that the phone has a single-core score of 1841 and a multi-core score of 5807. Considering the current design language being used by Nokia, we can expect the device to have a Zeiss dual rear camera setup. It might have a glass body, with an aluminium frame. Running on the Snapdragon 710, the phone is most probably a mid-ranger and will be priced accordingly. Pricing will be the key as the mid-range segment is home to a lot of competition. This can make it difficult for even some of the best smartphones.

Jokes aside, this is one of the biggest design changes in a year full of big design changes. 2018 saw the adoption of in-display fingerprint sensors, sliding camera modules, and the addition of more lenses to the camera setup. But how many lenses are too many lenses, and does a smartphone need them at all?

    Nokia 9

The Nokia 9 made headlines a few months ago when a hands-on image of the device leaked, showing off its penta camera setup. While the setup is impressive, it is equally peculiar as well. The setup features three vertically aligned lenses, likes of which we’ve seen before, however they are a bit spaced out. Accompanying these are two more lenses placed to the sides of the vertical setup. These are placed adjacent to what appears to be two flash modules. This setup does look like something out of a sci-fi movie, but the fact that it is a patented design by Zeiss, adds to the legitimacy of the leak.

    Specifications

The patented design by Zeiss is called ‘Miniature Zoom Camera’. This uses an array of multiple smaller lenses in a circle instead of singular or dual, larger sensors. The setup is said to consist of an image sensor and a normal lens. Along with a secondary group of ‘rotating lenses’ with varying focal lengths. Apart from the unique camera setup, the Nokia 9 is said to have a 6 inch AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device will  run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 8 GB of RAM. It is also said to have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Apart from this, it will have 256 GB of inbuilt storage and a 3,900 mAh battery.

Apart from the aforementioned features, it is also said to run on the Android One OS. The device is also exciting as it will be one of the first devices to carry the PureView trademark after HMD Global reacquired the same. It is well known that a smartphone with a PureView trademark never disappoints in the camera department. And with a Nokia-Zeiss collaboration, we can expect something great.

The device had gone underground for a while, but sources say that HMD had done so to ensure that there were no further leaks about the device. The Nokia 9 is the next flagship from HMD and is highly anticipated due to its long list of features. According to sources, the device can be expected to launch 3-4 weeks from now.

  • Nokia 8.1 Spotted On Geekbench Before Launch

Nokia 8.1 Spotted On Geekbench Before Launch

An upcoming premium smartphone from Nokia with the moniker Nokia 8.1 has appeared on Geekbench’s website before it’s official launch. The specifications of the Nokia 8.1 are quite similar to the recently launched Nokia X7 or Nokia 7.1 Plus.

The device has the same processor as the Nokia X7 which is the Snapdragon Qualcomm 710 SoC. It is an Octa-core processor, which according to Geekbench has a frequency of 1.71 GHz that is much less than what it is capable of. Geekbench results also reveal that the device has 4 GB of RAM. The device that was benchmarked might be the base variant of Nokia 8.1 as even the Nokia X7 is available with 4 GB or 6 GB RAM.

    Nokia 8.1 Geekbench Score

The device has a single-core score of 1841 and a multi-core score of 5807 even though the processor is not set to its highest clock speed. So if Nokia speeds up the processor the score would improve considerably.

Besides the RAM and processor, not many specifications of the Nokia 8.1 are available as of now. But as it might be an improved smartphone over to the Nokia 7.1 plus, we expect it to have better specifications.

    Nokia 7 Plus

For reference, the Nokia 7.1 plus has a 6.18 inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a pixel density of 408 ppi. It has the Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 processor. Four Cores have a frequency of 2.2 GHz and the other four of 1.7 GHz. It has 12 MP + 13 MP dual rear cameras and a 20 MP front selfie camera. The Nokia 7.1 has a 3,500 mAh non-removable lithium-ion battery and supports fast charging. It is available in 4 GB or 6 GB RAM variants paired with 64 GB or 128 GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 400 GB via a MicroSD card.

However, Nokia is yet to comment about the leaked device. For now, we can only wait for Nokia to officially announce the smartphone and bring it to India.
