Upcoming Samsung Note 5 Variant Might Come With a 4100 mAh Battery

Recent rumours suggest that the Galaxy Note 5 might actually come with a 4,100 mAh battery after all. These rumours were flying around even before the product released, however, were proved wrong once the Galaxy Note 5 was seen to arrive with a 3,000 mAh battery only.

PhoneArena reports that the Galaxy Note 5 Active model, which will be released in November this year will sport a 4,100 mAh battery. This upgraded device is said to release on AT&T, and along with the new battery will come with an IP68 waterproofing certification.

Even though these rumours remain unconfirmed, we do know that Samsung had once upgraded the Galaxy S6 Active similarly. So, this might after all be good news for Samsung users.

The speculated date of release is – 8th of November 2015.

  • Samsung May Release a Dual-SIM Variant For the Note 5 and S6 Edge+

Samsung May Release a Dual-SIM Variant For the Note 5 and S6 Edge+

We have covered Samsung’s newly released handsets – the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. Both devices created a frenzy before its release, however some users might have been disappointed when they found out that neither of the products came with a dual-SIM nor an expandable storage. Worry no more because according to reports, both these handsets will soon be available with a dual-SIM mode. But, there are no reports of the devices to include an expandable microSD slot yet. All other specifications will be the same.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ Dual SIM is reportedly available for purchase on eBay, from a seller in Singapore. The seller also claims to have all four colour options in his stock and has priced the device at $999.99 (approx. Rs.65,469). The device will be shipped to the purchaser via FedEx, say reports.

There have been no official reports as to which markets will be getting the dual-SIM models however, going by the previous sales production techniques of Samsung, we can probably expect the dual-SIM versions to become available almost everywhere, soon.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ Hands On Impressions

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ Hands On Impressions

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is the company’s first big S series phone, as an add-on to the Galaxy S line of devices. Last year the company thought it better to launch an edgier Note in the form of a Note Edge. However, this year Samsung found it more favourable to make a bigger S6 edge.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ also marks a new chapter, one where the line between a smartphone and a phablet is basically blurring out. Samsung has slowly killed the category it created with the Note in 2010. Large screen phones are now mainstream and Samsung is basically reinforcing that with the S6 edge+.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ is designed to one up the iPhone 6 Plus in terms of specifications and hardware. The Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge both had huge success in the global markets and Samsung expects no less from the Galaxy S6 edge+.

    Galaxy S6 Edge + plus iGyaan 18

The elder and bigger sibling is identical to the Galaxy S6 Edge, so identical that you won’t be able to tell them apart unless you put them together. There is a massive screen size different however a minor change in actual dimensions. The S6 edge+ just like the S6 Edge is flanked on both sides with edge displays.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ does become slightly more difficult to handle, and hence Samsung has added one handed operation and screen size reduction, similar to Apple’s double tap to pull down screen on the iPhone 6 Plus. This feature was also seen on the recent Galaxy A8 from Samsung.

    Galaxy S6 Edge + plus iGyaan 20

The Galaxy S6 edge+ is actually slimmer at just 6.9mm vs the 7 mm of the Galaxy S6 and the feel in the hand is very premium. Samsung has really done a good job with the design of the S6 Edge and hence they, didn’t change anything, but make the phone bigger with the S6 edge+.

Everything from the display resolution to chipset and cameras are identical to the Galaxy S6 Edge, however thanks to the new large display of the S6 edge+ the pixel density drops to 515 ppi vs the mammoth 577 ppi on the S6 Edge. The Edge Plus variant also sports a larger 3,000 mAh battery to combat the drain from the larger QHD Super AMOLED display. An additional 1 GB of LPDD4 RAM, takes it upto 4 GB on the edge+ however the phone is missing the 128GB storage option as only the 32 and 64 GB variants will go on sale.

The software department on the edge+ too remains same as the S6 and the S6 Edge, with a cleaner and simplified UI and new apps window to the edge display Samsung is trying to leverage the screen real-estate. You will also still get a Flipboard news feed to the left of the home screen and gestures like flipping a ringing phone to mute the call. Double clicking the home button will quickly launch the camera.

You still get the fingerprint scanner and ability to remember internet passwords and Samsung Account details using your fingerprint as a security mechanism.

    Galaxy S6 Edge + plus iGyaan 21

Some would argue that the Galaxy S6 Edge was the right size handset and that it fit well in almost all departments. Whether you were an executive or college student, the S6 and the edge variant seemed to be the right size for your hands.

    Galaxy S6 Edge + plus iGyaan 2

With the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ the company is trying to reach to those who liked the iPhone 6 Plus and those who loved the Note category but found it to be a niche. With the S6 edge+ Samsung is trying to make the page size phone more mainstream, and by the looks of it, it seems to be headed in the right direction.

Stay tuned for our Full Review of the Galaxy S6 edge+

  • Galaxy O Series : Samsung Expected to Launch Yet Another Line-Up of Devices

Galaxy O Series : Samsung Expected to Launch Yet Another Line-Up of Devices

According to reports, Samsung is currently working on two new smartphones, called the SM-G550 and the SM-G600. These two new devices are said to be released under the new Galaxy O series. Therefore, it has been concluded that SM-G550 will most probably be named the Galaxy O5 and the the SM-G600 will be called the Galaxy O7.

In 2014, Samsung had begun improving their smartphones by grouping all the new launches under different letters of the alphabet such as – Galaxy J, Galaxy E, Galaxy A, Galaxy O, Galaxy S etc. The market is currently flooded with Samsung smartphones available in all sizes and prices. The only unchanged factor amongst the large variety of smartphones is its form factor. It is still to be seen whether the Galaxy O series comes with a new design that would be easier for users to differentiate it from other smartphones made by the company.

Apple on the other hand (Samsung’s direct competitor), has only one solid line of smartphones and more often than not, have higher profits than Samsung. This happens regardless of whether Samsung occupies a larger market share or not.

However, no confirmation about the specification or release date of the devices have been made by the company itself.

5 Major Announcements You Missed From Samsung’s Big Event

Last night, Samsung unveiled its newest flagships at a grand event held in New York. Other than the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+, there were several major announcements which caught our attention.

Here’s a quick wrap up of everything important the company announced:

    The Physical Keyboard Accessory

    samsung note keyboard

This one is a welcoming addition for anyone who misses punching on good old buttons while texting. At the event, Samsung announced a strap-on keyboard for the new S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5. The built-in keyboard which also works as a cover and has been aptly named ‘Keyboard Cover.’ When the keyboard cover is strapped on the screen, the smartphone automatically recognises it and the screen is adjusted accordingly.

The company hasn’t revealed the cover’s availability or pricing, just yet.

Samsung Pay Takes a Leap Ahead

    LifeStyle 12

Samsung has taken a big step forward in the e-payment game. Unlike its competitors, which only work on specific card terminals, the company claims that their phones will be able to entirely replace the credit card system. They’re no longer solely relying on the NFC system for payments, hence you can swipe for a payment anywhere you want. The addition of magnetic secure transmission tech will make it usable with any store’s standard credit card swipe reader. Along with credit cards, it will also store memberships cards. The only question remains is if it’s secure.

Samsung Pay will launch in the US on 28th September.

    Directly Broadcast to YouTube

    LifeStyle 13

Live streaming is one of the current tech trends and Samsung has found a unique way to use the feature on its new phones. Instead of downloading a third-party app, you can use a feature on the camera terminal to directly stream to YouTube. With this, Samsung jumps ahead of apps such as Meerkat, Periscope etc.

Samsung Finally Makes Good Use of the ‘Edge’

Samsung S6 Edge India Launch 0

Other than a few nominal features on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and S6 Edge, there was not much value to the curved edge display. Now the company has added an extremely useful functionality to the display. You can pin your most used apps on the edge, and swipe to launch. The feature is called ‘Apps Edge’.

    The Gear S2

    Gear s2

Samsung chose the Unpacked event to tease the new Gear S2 smart watch. The model seems to have stylised itself quite a bit, with a round face, metal body and new user interface. It likely to run on Samsung’s Tizen OS rather than Android Wear, like the original Gear S. It will be unveiled on 3th September.

Read more about the Note 5 here and for the S6 Edge + here.

  • The Galaxy S6 Edge Vs. the S6 Edge+

The Galaxy S6 Edge Vs. the S6 Edge+

The Unpacked Event, saw the launch of two devices – the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The S6 Edge+ is the bigger and the edgier sibling to the glamorous Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung S6 Edge India Launch 5

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is noted to have a bigger display but yet is a smaller and more compact when compared to devices like the iPhone 6 Plus which have a smaller 5.5 inch display. The S6 Edge seemed to be the only premium look and feed Samsung device which even came close to the iPhone 6. But, with the S6 Edge+ it seems like that mission might have reached closer to its target, especially by excluding the expandable memory feature.

    LifeStyle 22
The device seems almost impeccable when it comes to its design – the S6 Edge had an aluminum frame and was protected by the Gorilla Glass 4 on both sides, this feature has been retained by the S6 Edge+ too. However, the new device looks sleeker with a display that extends up to the edges of the curved screen.

The S6 Edge had been applauded as being the first dual edged display smartphone and the S6 Edge+ continues to be applauded with a slight change of making the edges softer and thereby enhancing the visual appeal of the smartphone, the bigger stance of the phone allows for more display real estate.

    Fast Wireless Charging
    Fast Wireless Charging

Samsung has kept most of the hardware intact loosing some pixel density to the larger display. However the LPDDR4 RAM sees a bump up to 4 GB and so does the battery by about 400 mAh.

The new S6 Edge+ features fast wireless charging, which is a mix of the fast charging seen on the S6 along with a new wireless charging standard developed by Samsung, which is said to fully charge the handset in about 120 minutes wirelessly.

    SideSync
    SideSync

The S6 Edge+ along with Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 5 both support a new feature called SideSync which is much like Apple’s continuity however it goes further by letting you use your phone from the computer screen and share files. This feature is also said to work on both Windows and Mac platforms.

  • Here is What’s New in The Galaxy Note 5 vs The Note 4

Here is What’s New in The Galaxy Note 5 vs The Note 4

The Galaxy Note 5 is the newest Flagship for Samsung. The phablet category maker that changed everything for Samsung gets an overhaul, it also is a change in the way Samsung thinks design.

    Samsung Galaxy Note Edge 8

Last year the Note 4 was a Samsung first too, when the Phablet saw an Edge variant and a metal framed body construction. Learning heavily from that and the uber-success of the S6 in global markets, the Galaxy Note 5 is an all new metal and glass clad flagship for the company and prospective buyers will be pleased.

    LifeStyle 20

Samsung does also bring the flaws of the Galaxy S6 into the mix. Many have disliked the non removable battery and non expandable store on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5 also lacks in the same areas. Samsung brings an all new Gorilla Glass 4 front and back to the Note device, with coloured glass panels as seen on the S6 and S6 edge. Last year’s Note 4 took a more traditional Samsung approach of the leather look back panel seen on the Note 3 and Galaxy S5. This year the more premium looking Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will grab all the attention prior to the next iPhone launch, especially because that is what the company was gunning for.

Galaxy S6 edge+_Note5_Black_Gold_2PSamsung seems to have liked what they did with the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, as they bring the same Octacore chipset as on the S6 and S6 Edge onto the Note 5. The LPDDR-4 RAM and newer camera optics, all of which are shared by younger siblings the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, have also been added to the Note 5 (the Note 5 gets 4 GB RAM). The Note 4 was run on Snapdragon chipsets, and with instability issues, Samsung chose not to use the Snapdragon chipsets and rather went with their own chipsets on the Note 5 as well.

The inclusion of colour options on the Note 5 means that Samsung is now targeting a wider array of prospective buyers, especially those who have loved the gold and blue variants on the S6. While the company had chosen a more traditional black and white approach last year with the Note 4.

This years Note 5 will also see cover options and accessories all of which are built to highlight and use features like the new S-Pen with ease.

LifeStyle 15The S-Pen is also new, with a click mechanism at the back that lets you easily mount and unmount the pen from the Galaxy Note 5. The S-Pen software features are also improved with a simpler UI and a dark scribble note mode which basically lets you scribble a note when the screen is turned off.

What is also new in the Note 5 when compared to Note 4 is Samsung Pay, a transaction system designed and made to run with virtually all credit card machines globally. This will currently be launched in the US and Korea and will later be available to the world.

    LifeStyle 12
    Samsung Pay

Samsung has also added something that they call fast wireless charging into the mix with their new Galaxy Note 5. The Samsung Galaxy S6 supported fast charging via microUSB and wireless charging over various standards. Samsung claims to have combined these technologies and have launched a fast wireless charger, which in theory should also be backward compatible with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Samsung Teases At Releasing a New Gear S2 Smartwatch at IFA Berlin

As expected, Samsung at the Unpacked 2015 event, revealed a new Gear S2 smart watch. The model seems to have stylised itself, quite  bit with a round face, metal body and new user interface. It likely to run on Samsung’s Tizen OS rather than Android Wear, like the original Gear S.

The new UI design which consists of a circle of apps around the interface cements the fact that it isn’t a part of the Android Wear devices, at all. While we know no nothing more about the awaited smartwatch, Samsung has promised its fans that it will reveal the Gear S2, fully, at the IFA Berlin, next month. So stay tuned for regular updates.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is Finally Here

Last year, when Samsung unveiled the Note 4 Edge at a pre-IFA event, the world was shocked. No one was expecting to see a phablet with a curved display. Unlike 2014, most of the details of this year’s Note were revealed before the official unveiling. We can finally fast forward through all the rumours and leaks and find out what the Note 5 is all about. Here is the official introduction to the Galaxy Note 5:
