  • Moto G6 Specifications Leaked

    Moto G6 Specifications Leaked

The recent leaks and rumours about the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus are hinting towards the launch of these phones at MWC 2018. However, the company has not made any announcements pertaining to MWC 2018.

The upcoming Moto G devices are expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio. In fact, these will be the first few smartphones from Motorola to feature a modern design with thin bezels.

    Credits: Geekbench

The Moto G6 was spotted on Geekbench, revealing some of its specifications. The Geekbench listing reveals that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-core processor with the base frequency of 1.8 GHz. The phone scores 709 points on a single core and 3582  points for the multi-core performance.

The only chipset that matches the above equation is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. This seems accurate considering the Moto G5 was launched with the Snapdragon 430 chipset. However, these are still leaks and nothing can be said concretely.

    Specifications:

The Moto G6 is most likely to have a 5.7-inch 2160 x 1080p IPS LCD display. Under the hood, the smartphone, as mentioned in the listing, will be powered by the Snapdragon 450 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The Moto G6, in all probability, will run Android 8 Oreo out of the box. However, considering the recent behaviour of other OEMs, it won’t be surprising to see the Moto G6 running Android 7 Nougat. The device is expected to feature a 3000 mAh battery with Turbocharging capability.

The device will have a dual 12 MP + 5 MP primary cameras with an 8 MP front-facing camera.

    Conclusion:

Motorola has been doing well in the Indian market. In fact, its smartphones like the Moto G5s Plus and Moto G5 Plus are some of the best selling smartphones. However, the competition in the budget segment has increased since the launch of the likes of Honor 9 Lite and Redmi Note 5 Pro. Therefore, the Moto G6 and its siblings need to have their pricing spot on to compete in the Indian market.

  • Huawei P20 Lite Listed on TENAA

Huawei P20 Lite Listed on TENAA

Huawei is expected to launch the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 LitePlus at a launch event in Paris in March 2018. However, the P20 Lite will be launched at MWC 2018. A smartphone has been listed on the TENNA website which could possibly be the Huawei P20 Lite.

Two smartphones were listed on TENAA with a slightly different model number EML-AL00 and EML-TL00. These models could be two variants of the same smartphone, the P20 Lite. As is with a lot of TENNA listings, there are not many details mentioned in this listing as well.

    Details of the listed smartphone:
    Huawei P20 Lite Leaked Image

The listed smartphone comes with a metal unibody design with a Huawei logo at the bottom. The smartphone also has a dual camera setup with Leica branding. The Leica branding is reserved for the Mate and P series smartphones from the company, this might suggest that the leaked smartphone is indeed a Huawei P20 Lite.

The listed smartphone even has an Apple iPhone X like notch, which might house the necessary sensors for Face Unlock. However, it might just have a dual front-facing camera like the Honor 9 Lite.

The smartphone is expected to be powered by Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 970 Octa-core chipset with at least 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device is expected to offer Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with EMUI skin on the top.

    Conclusion:

The Huawei P20 Lite will be one of the three smartphones that the company will launch in a space of one month. While the company’s own facial recognition technology seems interesting, the smartphone’s design will be a huge talking month. However, if Huawei does come up with Face Unlock for the P20 Lite, the notch would seem justified.

  • Apple AirPods 2 Might Come With Hands-Free Siri Integration

Apple AirPods 2 Might Come With Hands-Free Siri Integration

Apple AirPods was launched along with the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus for US$ 149. These are the first pair of truly wireless earbuds AirPods from Apple, which was powered by a custom W1 chipset.

One needs to simply flip-open the case near an iPhone or iPad and select connect. Once it is synced to a device, it will be available on all devices with the same iCloud account. Apple AirPods offers up to 5 hours of continuos playback on a single charge and AirPods case provides up to additional 24 hours of backup battery. In fact, the company has announced that it will be launching a new AirPods case with wireless charging capability.

A new report suggests that the company is working on a next-generation Apple AirPods with improved features. However, the design is expected to identical to the first generation AirPods.

The first major improvement will be the integration of Siri. The 2nd generation Apple AirPods 2 will be able to use Siri wirelessly. With this new device, the user will be able to ask Siri anything by just saying “Hey Siri”. In fact, in the present scenario, a user has to physically touch the AirPod to interact with Siri.

The 2nd Gen AirPods are expected to have water or splash resistance, which can survive a splash of water or rain. However, they will not be “swim-proof” like the 4th edition Apple Watch.

The newer AirPods will be designed by the same team which designed Apple HomePod, so we might also expect improved sound quality with long-lasting battery life.

    Conclusion:

Apple AirPods have been the most successful wireless earbuds so far. In fact, according to a report, 85% of the wireless earbuds market is dominated by the AirPods.

Features like wireless charging and tighter Siri integration will surely make for another great pair of wireless earbuds. And probably, this time around, the AirPods will be slightly smaller in size as well.

  • Nokia 7 Plus Renders Leaked Before MWC 2018 Launch

Nokia 7 Plus Renders Leaked Before MWC 2018 Launch

HMD Global is rumoured to be launching a few smartphones at MWC 2018. Unlike a few other smartphone makers, it seems unfazed by the launch of the Samsung GalaxyS9 and S9+. One of the devices that HMD Global will launch, is the Nokia 7 Plus. So far, we have seen a few renders that hint toward an 18:9 aspect ratio, a first for Nokia smartphones.

New renders of the smartphone corroborate with previous claims and reveal a revamped design for Nokia smartphones. The Nokia 7 Plus will be an upgrade over the Nokia 7, which featured a 16:9 aspect ratio and thick bezels. The 7 Plus, along with hardware upgrades, the Nokia 7 Plus will also have a modern design along with a new colour scheme. A similar colour scheme was first seen on the Nokia 6 (2018).

Like the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 Plus is also expected to have a dual-camera setup on the back. The renders also reveal that the Nokia 7 Plus won’t have Clear ID, and the fingerprint sensor will be placed on the back, just under the camera module.

    Nokia 1

    Nokia 7 Plus Expectations

The 7 Plus will be an upgrade to the Nokia 7, which was hugely popular in China. Nokia 7 Plus, however, is expected to be a global device meant for markets like India.

The smartphone, like a lot of 18:9 phones, will have a 5.99 inch display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. That will be coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

The 7 Plus will have a 12MP wide-angle lens along with a 13MP telephoto lens. The front of the smartphone is expected to house a 16MP camera with no LED flash. The primary camera setup will also have a Nokia Pro mode along with the Bothie feature.

  • Cat S61 Is A Rugged Smartphone And Costs US$ 999

Cat S61 Is A Rugged Smartphone And Costs US$ 999

While the world awaits the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9, a new Android device has already hit the thousand dollar mark. In 2017, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 came close and everyone expected the Galaxy S9+ to be priced equivalent or higher than the 64GB iPhone X. However, the Cat S61, a recently launched rugged Android smartphone is priced at US$ 999.

The Cat S61 succeeds the Cat S60, which was also an extremely rugged smartphone. The market for premium rugged smartphones is extremely niche. However, people with a certain lifestyle would certainly appreciate what the Cat S61 brings to the table. Cat is known for coming out with smartphones that fit this demographic and the Cat S61 does the same, however, at a very premium price.

    Specifications

The Cat S61 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display 1920 x 1080 px resolution. The device has the now archaic 16:9 aspect ratio and comes with huge bezels around the display. However, that solves a purpose, since this device is supposed to be used ruggedly.

Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset with a 2.2GHz octa-core processor. This is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage which is expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. Unfortunately, there is no fingerprint sensor on the device which is unusual for a smartphone being launched in 2018.

However, unlike a lot of 2018 Android devices, the Cat S61 will run Android 8 Oreo out of the box. It will also be updated to Android P in the future. It is powered by a massive 4500 mAh battery that charges via a USB C port.

To the back of the phone is a single 16MP camera while the front houses an 8MP camera.

    Rugged Features

In isolation, the specifications of this smartphone are definitely underwhelming. However, this smartphone has some features that are hard to find in any other smartphone. Also, this is because this device has a very specific target audience and regular phones do not need such features.

The 5.2 inch display on the Cat S61 works with gloves on and with wet fingers. Also, the FLIR thermal camera measures temperatures ranging from -20°C to 400°C. In fact, it has a feature to live stream these thermal images as well. Interestingly, the smartphone has a built-in Sensirion air quality sensor. This sensor will alert users of high levels of indoor air pollutants that can come from paints, solvents, carpets, furniture, or even cleaning products. Not just that, the sensor also reads humidity levels and temperatures.

The device comes with a laser-assisted distance measurement tool that lets users measure point-to-point distances of up to 10 meters. The build of the smartphone is rugged, thanks to the aluminium-reinforced frame, MIL Spec 810G rating and IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

  • Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Official Price Leaked

Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Official Price Leaked

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, as usual, have almost nothing to surprise us with, at the launch. Over the past few weeks, the 2018 flagship smartphones have been leaked in some shape or form. While the design of the devices has been leaked enough in renders and live images, the pricing is also starting to get clearer by the day.

A new leak by Evan Blass has revealed the European prices of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. The Galaxy S9 will retain for EUR 841, while the S9+ will be priced at EUR 997. However, if industry trend prevails, the prices could be EUR 849 and EUR 999, respectively. A previous leak suggested that the Galaxy S9 would be priced at EUR 837 and the Galaxy S9+ would retail for EUR 905.

It is fair to assume that the price of the smartphones will be much higher than the official price of their predecessors. In India, iGyaan reported that the Galaxy S9 will be priced at Rs. 69000 which is higher than the price of the Galaxy S8. In fact, the Galaxy S9 base variant would be priced higher than the Galaxy Note 8 if the price is accurate.

    Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ Specifications:

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to have a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, with narrow bezels. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by either Snapdragon 845 chipset or Exynos 9810. According to a leak, the device will be offered in two storage options, 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 4GB RAM/128GB storage.

    @evleaks

The camera on the Galaxy S9 will have a noticeable upgrade. A leak reveals that the device would have a 12 MP camera with a variable aperture from F/1.5 to F/2.4. The mobile is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Experience UI on the top.

Like its predecessors, the Galaxy S9 will have an IP68 water and dust resistance certification. The smartphone will have “Intelligent Scan,” which uses both iris scanner and facial recognition. However, since this technology uses Samsung API, this feature won’t be utilised for banking.

Whats new in Experience 9 UI?

The Oreo update on the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ comes with Samsung’s new UI called Experience UI 9.0, with a new style of home page and icons. It also updates the smartphones from Android 7 Nougat to Android 8 Oreo.

The light effect for the notifications is customisable, by taking the advantage of AMOLED screen. More customisations for the lock screen has been added, including support different clock options. However, it still misses out on the third party widget integration.

There are additional system-level modifications enables an overall smoother UI experience. With this update, the Android App shortcuts are also included in the stock launcher.

  • Huawei Enjoy 8 With A Dual Camera Setup Listed On TENAA

Huawei Enjoy 8 With A Dual Camera Setup Listed On TENAA

Huawei is likely to launch a new entry-level smartphone named Huawei Enjoy 8, which is currently listed on TENAA. The specifications of the smartphone almost match with the recently listed Honor 7C. In fact, the differences between the Honor 7C and the Huawei Enjoy 8 are very negligible. The Huawei Enjoy 8 will be the successor of the Huawei Enjoy 7, which was launched in China. Interestingly, the company did launch a special KFC edition of the Huawei Enjoy 7 in the US.

The device is listed in two parts, one with the model number LND-TL10 which comes with 32GB storage and the other model listed under the model number LND-AL20, which comes with 64GB storage.

The only difference between the Honor 7C and the Huawei Enjoy 8 is the build quality. The Honor 7C offers a metallic design, whereas the Huawei Enjoy 8 might have a plastic unibody design. However, the plastic build quality does appear to be of metallic finish for the untrained eyes.

    Specifications:

The Honor 7C has a FullView 5.99-inch 1440 x 720p IPS LCD display, with 2.5D curved tempered glass protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an unknown Oct-core chipset with 1.4 GHz base frequency.

The device has a main dual camera setup with 13 MP + 20 MP sensors, with an 8 MP front-facing camera. The Honor 7C will be powered by Android 8 Oreo with custom EMUI 8 skin on the top. Finally, the phone packs in a 2900 mAh Li-ion battery.

  • Moto G6 Plus Design Leaked In Case Renders

Moto G6 Plus Design Leaked In Case Renders

The rumours surrounding the Moto G6 Plus have picked up some pace. While many believe that Motorola will launch the ‘G’ series at MWC 2018, it seems unlikely right now. The design of the Moto G6 Plus was leaked a few weeks ago and new images of the possible case of the Moto G6 Plus have been leaked now.

    Moto G6 Plus Live Image

As expected, Motorola might move on to the new standard of 18:9 aspect ratios. However, one interesting decision is related to the fingerprint sensor placement. While devices like the Honor 7X moved the fingerprint sensor to the back, the Moto G6 Plus might house the sensor in the thin bottom bezel. The Moto G6 Plus will have a dual-camera setup like the G5s Plus. However. the implementation is expected to be different.

Interestingly, Motorola has also replaced the “Moto” branding with “Motorola”. The branding is placed just above the fingerprint sensor in the bottom bezel.

    Moto G6 Plus Specifications

The Moto G6 Plus will have a 5.93-inch 2160 x 1080p IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved tempered glass protection. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Octa-core chipset with up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

In terms of cameras, the phone might have a 12 MP and 5 MP camera setup on the back. The setup is expected to be different from what we have seen so far from Moto devices. The 5MP sensor will be used to capture depth effect shots. The front-facing camera is expected to sport a 16MP sensor with a front-facing LED flash.

The smartphone will run on close to stock Android 8 Oreo OS. However, the Moto G6 Play which was spotted earlier had a ZUK UI on top of Android 8.0. So, it is very early to make any kind of assumption on the type of Android the smartphone might come with. However, it seems unlikely that Motorola will move to a custom skin considering the success it has had with stock OS.

  • Honor 7C With A Dual Camera Setup Spotted On TENAA

Honor 7C With A Dual Camera Setup Spotted On TENAA

In the last three months, Honor has launched three budget smartphones in India including Honor 9i, Honor 7x, and Honor 9 Lite. It looks like the company is planning to launch a new Honor smartphone with a similar design language. The Honor 7C is now listed on TENAA, which hints towards the official launch of the device in China.

This will be the successor of the Honor 6C, which was launched in Europian markets for € 229. Later on, Honor also launched a successor to the Honor 6C named Honor 6C Pro for € 179. In terms of design, the smartphone resembles the Honor 7x with 18:9 aspect ratio display. However, the camera setup is slightly redesigned compared to the Honor 7x.

There are two devices listed on TENAA, one has a model number of LND-TL30 and another device is listed as LND-TL40. The only difference between these models is the amount of RAM. The LND-TL30 comes with 3GB RAM, whereas, the LND-TL40 comes with 4GB RAM, with 32 GB storage on both the models.

    Specifications:

The Honor 7C has a FullView 5.99-inch 1440 x 720p IPS LCD display, with 2.5D curved tempered glass protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an unknown Oct-core chipset with 1.8 GHz base frequency.

    Conclusion:

Considering the fact that, both the Honor 6C and the 6C Pro were exclusively launched in Europe, the Honor 7C might launch only in European markets.

  • Samsung Galaxy S9 In India Will Be A Flipkart-Exclusive

Samsung Galaxy S9 In India Will Be A Flipkart-Exclusive

Samsung will be launching the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at MWC 2018. With the recent leaks and renders, there is barely anything left that can surprise us. However, Flipkart has started teasing the smartphone before the launch. So, Flipkart could be the exclusive online e-commerce partner in India.

Samsung recently teased the Galaxy S9 and S9+ which emphasised a lot on the camera. This further confirmed that the new flagship devices will have a much more improved camera setup. The teaser has a big “9” accompanied by text that reads, “The. Camera. Reimagined”.

Flipkart, on of India’s biggest e-commerce websites has made the Galaxy S9 page live. This means that just like its predecessor, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will also be Flipkart-exclusive devices. On the main page, it says “9OnFlipkart” coming on 25th February 2018. It looks like Galaxy S9 and S9+ will go on sale in India along with other major markets like the US.

    Specifications:

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ are expected have a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display. Depending on the market, these phones will feature either Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 chipset with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage.

In terms of camera capability, both smartphones will have a primary 12 MP shooter with the variable aperture from f/1.5 to f/2.4. However, leaks also suggest that the Galaxy S9+ might come with an additional camera with an unknown functionality. These smartphones will run on Android 8 Oreo OS with custom Experience UI on the top, along with IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

    Conclusion:

It is great that the company will launch the Galaxy S9 devices in India along with other markets. However, the company will have to get the pricing spot on for its new flagship smartphones.

The Mi Max 3 will have either Sony’s IMX363 camera sensor, or, Samsung’s S5K217 + S5K5E8 sensors on the back. On the front, there will be a single Samsung S5K4H7 sensor.

    Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Specifications

The Mi Max 3will succeed the Mi Max 2 from 2017. It is exoected to move on from the 16:9 aspect ratio and thick bezels. It will have a 6.99 inch IPS LCD display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. Graphical Representation Of Wireless Charging On A Xiaomi Smartphone

Under the hood, the device will either have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 or the 630 chipset. That is expected to be coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and expandable storage options. The Mi Max 3 will be powered by a massive 5500 mAh battery and run Android 8 Oreo out of the box.

    Conclusion

While the leaked details look impressive, nothing is for certain right now. The launch of the Mi Max 3 is a bit far away and it seems too early for such comprehensive leaks. Also, wireless charging for a smartphone under Rs. 20,000 could be unprecedented if true.
