    Moto G4 Press Render Leaked

It looks like Moto has little to spare for its launch of the next generation Moto G aka, the Moto G4. With mostly all information out, little is left to the imagination. Now a new image by @evleaks points to the front of the display.

Calling it the “little bro” could lead to the non-plus version of the Moto G4. Leaks have pointed to a  Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB RAM, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. With 16 MP and 13MP cameras for the Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 respectively.

Everything We Know about the Moto G4 and G4 Plus

With the expected Launch of the next Moto G aka the Moto G4 and G4 plus to happen soon, there is already a lot of information that has been outed by tipsters and benchmarks. This is a roundup fo what to expect on the upcoming Moto G.

    Name

The brand Motorola is no more and since the Lenovo acquisition is now complete the subsidiary brand is now called “Moto.” The Moto G revisions were known as the “Moto G” and the same with other phones. However, the interwebs and leaks suggest a proper Moto “G4” branding along with what rumors are pointing to as a Moto “G4 Plus,” which will either be a larger or a beefier specced handset.

    Look

While @evleaks has been mostly responsible for leaking out Moto G4 images, some others have appeared online.

    https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/722552740283551744

The images of the Moto G4 came out quite a while ago, they show the phone featuring a square front facing fingerprint scanner which may finally introduce the Moto lineup to fingerprint scanners. The rear shows a new camera layout along with dots that indicate either sensors or high-intensity microphones.

    Specifications

Leaks have pegged that the Moto G4 is expected to have a 5.5-inch display, 13MP camera and 16GB of internal storage. The Moto G Plus is also expected to get a 5.5-inch display, a 16MP camera and 16GB of internal storage. Two models the XT1622 and XT1642 have been spotted on the FCC website.

The Moto G4 has also been spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench, revealing some other specs, which include a Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB RAM, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

    Launch Date and Price

After Motorola’s official invitation to their launch on the 17th of May, everyone is expecting the company to introduce the Moto G4 and G4 plus at the same event , while pricing has been speculated at around Rs. 21000 for the Moto G4 Plus, it seems highly unlikely that the company will launch the G4 for a different category when it has constantly stayed in the Rs. 15000 price bracket. So while the G4 Plus may be priced slightly higher we are expecting the Moto G4 to launch somewhere in the Rs. 14500 price range.

It is also official that the next phone (which we assume is the G4) will now be an Amazon exclusive.

This year OnePlus decided to keep things on the down low as their #hype campaign last year left a lot of people disappointed. Reports are mentioning two models of the OnePlus 3 one with 4GB of RAM + 32GB of storage and one with 6GB of RAM + 64GB of storage. A price of CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,400) is quoted for the base model of the OnePlus pointing towards a roughly Rs. 24000-25000 launch price in markets like India. While it is expected to launch end May we are not sure when it will come to India. Hopefully, at the same time as the rest of the world.

  • Moto G (3rd gen) Review – 2015

    Moto G (3rd gen) Review – 2015

The new Moto G for 2015 is the hero for Motorola. With a whole spew of upgrades, the new Moto G is ready to take on the market. With little change in design and price, the customer is left asking for a lot more.

    Overview

The new Moto G is available in two variants; a cheaper one priced at Rs. 11,999 comes with 8GB storage and 1 GB of RAM, whereas, a slightly expensive one at Rs 12,999 comes with 16 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM. You also have a whole variety of covers that you can buy and swap with your current cover.

    Moto G Gen 3 2

    Build Quality and Design

Design wise you have a whole lot of differences starting with the back of the new Moto G, all the way to the front. It’s more rounded and has silver accents, which add to the premium look and feel of the device. The long cut in the back panel houses the camera equipment and the panel has a new reassuring texture.

Build is superior when compared to the last gen of the Moto G. With the IPX7 rating, the new Moto G can also withstand 3 ft (1 M) of water immersion. This makes the phone one of kind in this price bracket  and also the second device only after the Apple Watch to have this rating.

    Moto G Gen 3 18

The plastic shells are high quality and swappable, which mean you can easily replace the back if damaged. The new Moto G also has Gorilla glass and a new solid structured frame that makes it a big winner in the build department.

    Moto G Gen 3 23

    Hardware

No hardware does not get a big boost, but you do get an improved camera, a slightly faster and more stable chipset and that is just about it. USB On the go is easily available, you also have micro SD card slots for expandability and two hardware options; 1 GB RAM + 8 GB Storage or 2 GB RAM + 16 GB Storage both of which support expandability and are separated only by a Rs. 1000 price difference.

    Specifications

    HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
    LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 20(800)
Price  Rs. 11,999 for 8 GB and Rs. 12,999 for 16 GB

    Performance

The Moto G Gen 3 is more of a balanced smartphone. You won’t get a performance monster and you shouldn’t expect it to be one especially with the specifications it is packing. The 2 GB version, only slightly more expensive performs far better than the 1 GB variant. It will also bump up the onboard storage to 16 GB which would only make sense.

The User interface is fast and smooth and the stock Android helps with that to a big extent. The GPU handles multitasking and gaming with ease, although some applications tend to lag with the 1 GB variant. The 2 GB will work well for day to day usage and also with gaming.

Games work well with the 2 GB variant, as mentioned earlier. If you choose to run your games (like Asphalt 8) with higher graphics you will face some lag, mainly due to the limitations of graphics processing.

    Camera and Multimedia

The 13 MP main camera is a big improvement, mix it up with the Android 5.1 camera capabilities and you get a great camera experience. Manually set up focus and exposure before you click the picture. The camera focuses quickly so you can go up close with your subjects and get a good depth of field. Images tend to be sharp and autofocus is snappy. Its a pity that the Moto G misses a proper oleophobic display, which would allow you to use the phone under water. No, you don’t have an underwater camera with the new Moto G.

    Moto G Gen 3 15

No image stabalization also means that shaky hands need to beware of the induced camera shake. Video stays at 1080p and you also get some high speed capture at 720p reducing speeds to half, if needed.

The speaker is forward facing and has good audio. Despite the dual grills there is only a mono speaker. We would have liked a louder speaker, or at least a stereo speaker combo. The forward facing speaker makes the audio experience while watching video or playing games, improved.

The display is still a 1280 x 720p panel but is extremely vivid and bright. Outdoor visibility could have been better, but is very usable. The display has good viewing angles and the colours pop, so you won’t find us complaining. We did want a 1080p display and since most of the competition does offer up a 1080p display in this segment, it became a let down for us.

    Phone Networks and Battery

With the inclusion of 4G networks, the Moto G adds the list of network ready phones. A major deal of Androids will join this list by the end of the year as most network players will offer 4G services.

The network performance is good and the audio quality is excellent. The connection strength is a big improvement over the last gen. phone. With the IPX7 rating, the one thing we really wanted to check was underwater calling capability. The phone does ring, but making a call is practically impossible as the display goes crazy with electric conduction the minute you unlock the screen, so your phone will randomly jump from app to app. We don’t really want to be making calls underwater, but hey, it could come in handy.

    Moto G Gen 3 6

We are getting mixed reports about the battery life, some users are complaining of battery drain and others of overheating issues. However, we faced no such issues, and the phone gave us 1+ day of average use. We are expecting 4-5 hours of talk time mixed with varied use. Charge the Moto G once a day and you are good to go.

    • Talk Time 4G : 4.5 Hours
    • Internet : 7-8 hours of surfing
    • Music : 11 hours
    • Video : 5 hours

    Conclusion

The Moto G (3rd Gen) is a smart upgrade from a good company. They did miss out on a few key things, a better display and a better chipset would make this the best phone for the price. However, it is a smart choice. It has the trust of a motorola handset, and the added legacy of great phones like the Moto Defy. Also the IPX7 rating, makes it the only phone in this class, with any such rating. It will be useful for those who need it.

Moto G Gen 3 1Lastly, the swappable colour covers make sense and add personal style. Availability is easy, no flash sales and no invites. Smartphones need to be easy to buy and readily available in 2015, and the new Moto G ticks all the boxes of being a well rounded phone.

Motorola has made some notable improvements in the new Moto G (Gen 3), such as increasing the battery life, upgrading the rear camera and making Android Lollipop the default OS, compatible with 4G networks.

To begin with, the 2015 Moto G comes in two variants – the 8GB storage + 1GB RAM and  the 16GB + 2GB – while the former is for casual users, the latter has been aimed towards gamers. The new Moto G has a bigger battery than its predecessor due to the phone supporting 4G network. Given the current 4G scenario in the country, Motorola has made the smart move to include 4G capability.

Motorola has changed the processor from Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 to Snapdragon 410. Both processors are known to perform in a similar manner, so the users shouldn’t feel any difference between the Moto G (Gen 2) and the new Moto G. With display, Motorola has gone for the “If it ain’t broke, then why fix it” philosophy. The display is the same as Moto G (Gen 2), keeping the same 5 inch HD display with 720p resolution.

The rear and front camera of the Moto G (Gen 3) get an update. The new Moto G has a 13MP rear camera as compared to its predecessor’s 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, as compared to the Gen 2’s 2MP front snapper.

According to Motorola, the Moto G (Gen 3) will be available for a price of Rs. 11,999 (8GB) and Rs. 12,999 (16GB) at Flipkart from midnight tonight. Although the processor has been upgraded, along with the camera and 4G support has been added, we will only find out when we review the product.

New Leaked Promo Video for Moto G (Gen 3) Confirms Specs

Just a few days back we reported that the upcoming Moto G will be waterproof. A new promotional video for the Moto G has been leaked and confirms most of what we knew about the phone so far.

The Moto G (Gen 3) will boast of a 5-inch display and since it is referred to as HD, our guess is that the resolution will probably be 720p. The processor used will be a quad-core, but we don’t know which one since it hasn’t been mentioned. The phone will be water resistant for 30 minutes, as it has been certified IPx7. The battery will be large enough to power it around the clock.

The phone sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The device will run on Android Lollipop 5.1 and will offer expandable storage via MicroSD card upto 32 GB. The Moto G (Gen 3) can be customised using Motorola shells, like in the first Moto G. The dual SIM phone will support both 3G and 4G. There is no mention of the fingerprint sensor though, which is supposed to be an important feature.

At this point the video pretty much confirms many of the specs that the new Moto G was rumored to have. The video seems authentic since it uses the same design element that was used in the media invite sent for the July 28th event hosted by Motorola.

Moto G (3rd Gen) Leak Confirms That It’s Water Resistant

Instead of waiting for 28th July, Motorola should already unveil the specifications for the upcoming Moto G and Moto X.Yesterday, a retailer leaked the specifications for the Moto G (3rd Gen) and now a new set of images of the upcoming phone have been leaked, confirming what was reported in the earlier rumours.

    moto g 3rd gen ipx7 leak

As you can see in the above photograph, most of the details on the dummy unit already confirms what we saw in yesterday’s leak. The one detail that was left out yesterday was the IPx7 certification, which was rumored but never confirmed. The dummy unit confirms the certification, which means that the Moto G (3rd Gen) is water resistant and can survive after being submerged under 1m of water for 30 minutes.

The Moto G (3rd gen) has a 5 “(12.7 cm) TFT, Gorilla Glass display and is powered by Li-Ion 2470 mAh battery. The phone sports a rear 13 MP Dual Flash and a 5 MP front camera and can record full HD videos at 1080p resolution. The phone supports 4G LTE and has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The device has been priced at EUR 199 (approximately Rs. 13,700). The details were leaked yesterday by Spanish e-commerce website fnac.

If the image wasn’t enough, Motorola India tweeted another clue yesterday:

While nothing has been made official from Motorola yet, we will know only next week on 28th July, when Motorola will announce the launch of the new Moto G and Moto X.

The New Moto G (3rd Gen) Leak That Tells All

For the past few weeks, Motorola has been trying to keep the details of its upcoming 3rd generation Moto G a secret but for some reason, they keep leaking out. Today, a fresh set of details about the Moto G (3rd gen) have been leaked by a retailer and (kind of) confirms most things about what we knew so far about the phone.

    Moto G 3

Spanish online retailer fnac has listed the details about the upcoming Moto G (3rd gen) on its website. The site details a comprehensive spec sheet for the Moto G. To begin with, it runs on a MSM8916 1.4 Ghz Quad Core processor with 1GB RAM. It sports a 5 “(12.7 cm) TFT, Gorilla Glass display and is powered by Li-Ion 2470 mAh battery. For now, the website has listed the 8GB variant, which can be expanded upto 32 GB.

The Moto G (3rd gen) sports a rear 13 MP Dual Flash and a 5 MP front camera. The phone can record full HD videos at 1080p resolution. The phone supports 4G LTE and has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The device has been priced at EUR 199 (approximately Rs. 13,700).

While nothing has been made official from Motorola yet, we will know only next week on 28th July, when Motorola will announce the launch of the new Moto G and Moto X.

  • Motorola’s Media Invite Teases the Launch Date for the New Moto G

Motorola’s Media Invite Teases the Launch Date for the New Moto G

Just two days ago, we reported a leak that showed off the next generation Moto G and Moto X by the Lenovo owned Motorola. Motorola India has sent a media invite for the 28th July, which could possibly be for the launch of Moto G (3rd Gen.) in India.

Moto G Media Invite Though the invite doesn’t really say anything specific about the event, our guess is that the company could launch the next generation Moto G. The date, 28th July, corroborates with the earlier rumours we heard about the Moto G’s launch date.

According to the photos that leaked a few days ago, the new Moto G (3rd Gen) seems to have identical hardware Snapdragon 410, 2GB RAM and Android 5.1.1 out of the box. It will have 4G + dual SIM versions and is a IPX7 waterproof cell phone.

Motorola will offer the new Moto G with various options. The Moto G 8GB variant will come with 1GB of RAM whereas the Moto G 16GB variant will come with 2GB of RAM. The new Moto G will be equipped with a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera. The company will reportedly also extend the Moto Maker to the Moto G.

  • Massive Moto G (Gen 3) Leak Reveals a 13MP Rear Camera

Massive Moto G (Gen 3) Leak Reveals a 13MP Rear Camera

Moto G is one of the most recognizable phones Motorola has ever made. The affordable smartphone relaunched the company and drew huge sales in India, making Motorola a household name. Today, a set of images and a video has been posted which provides more details about the upcoming Moto G, the 3rd generation.

The images, which were posted by a Google+ user, Nao Lee, have been said to come from “a Chinese digital forum.” The images show the front and the back of the device, which looks similar to the previous versions of Moto G. The phone identifies itself as “XT1453” and runs on Android 5.1.1.

The video, which has since been removed, showed the specifications of the phone. According to the video, Moto G3 is similar to Moto G (2nd Generation). Moto G3 will run on Snapdragon 410 processor, an improvement from the Snapdragon 400 processor. The camera has also been upgraded. Moto G3 will now sport a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera, a vast improvement from 8 and 2 megapixel rear and front camera. As for the rest, the new phone will sport a 5-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, LTE, and a microSD slot, same as Moto G (2nd Gen). This contradicts the early rumours about Moto G3 running on a 64-bit 1.7GHz Snapdragon 610 SoC along with 2GB of RAM.While the Moto G (Gen 2) was a vast improvement over its predecessor, that might not be the case with Moto G (Gen 3). It is to be noted that Motorola is yet to officially announce the specifications and the phone may turn out to a be a far superior product than expected.

  • Moto G (Gen 3) Spotted on Flipkart’s Smartphone Listing

Moto G (Gen 3) Spotted on Flipkart’s Smartphone Listing

Seems like Motorola is geared to release another version of Moto G shortly. The Schaumburg-based company hasn’t come out with any such announcement, but we have learnt this from Motorola’s exclusive online partner, Flipkart. Next-gen Moto G smartphone was recently spotted on Flipkart where sparse details of the phone were provided. The Indian e-commerce website might have accidently made the page live, but it stamps the rumours of Moto G (Gen 2) successor in the pipeline.

The Moto G (3rd Gen) page has come up with an early listing of the handset. It does not give away much of the details like display, processor, etc. and discloses just the internal storage capacity of the phone. It does not even have an image of the upcoming smartphone. The only details known are that it will be available in white colour and will have 8GB in-built storage space. The Indian version of Moto G (3rd Gen) will have a model number AP3560AD1K8.

There have been rumours of the Moto G (Gen 3) sporting a 5- or 5.2-inch full-HD display, packing a 64-bit 1.7GHz Snapdragon 610 SoC along with 2GB of RAM and 4G LTE support.

It’s not clear if Motorola purposely leaked its next smartphone to give it hype, or if it was Flipkart who mistakingly slipped the information. Motorola is hopping forward in the smartphone race, where, the competition among the mid-range handsets is at its peak. It would be nice to see how Motorola plays its cards this time and what difference it makes on the present electronic brands.

It is worth noting that both the first-gen and second-gen handsets did really well in the Indian market, and the third phone in the series is likely to continue the trend.

  • Motorola Launches India’s First Moto Care Centre in Bangalore

Motorola has announced officially that the first Moto Care centre has been set up at Jayanagar Road, Bangalore. This is the first of the many service centre that the company has promised, which will soon be up and running all over the country.

This service centre will serve as a walk-in service support location for Motorola customers. The Experience Zone will cater to the needs of prospective buyers who want to experience products like Moto G, Moto X (2nd Gen), Moto Turbo, Moto E, Moto 360 and other Motorola products at the centre. The Zone can also assist online ordering via Flipkart.

It has been added that the centre will not only facilitate customers directly in Jayanagar, but will also benefit customers from neighbouring locations of Bangalore such as MG Road, Koramangala, Indiranagar and Rajendra Nagar. For its customers elsewhere in India, new reaching out options include the Moto Care app and the helpline number. For its customers in Delhi, Motorola has initiated a pilot project which provides Moto vans for servicing the device within few hours. The Moto van service is valid up to 30 days of the purchase.

Motorola recently launched the new version of its Moto E in India, along with the Moto Turbo, their flagship model. The company has seen a lot of success in the country with the Moto G and Moto E smartphones. This move will only help better the company’s position in the market.
