We already know that LG is launching the G8 ThinQ at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Ahead of the event, fresh renders of the G8 ThinQ have been revealed by leakster Evan Blass, which show the smartphone from all angles.
The LG G8 ThinQ Render & Design
The front render of the phone gives it an uncanny resemblance to the LG G7 ThinQ smartphone. The display is equipped with a notch, which, again, resembles the notch of the G7. However, the phone has clearly distinguishable thinner side bezels than it’s predecessor. The G8 ThinQ has a glass back, featuring a horizontal dual-camera setup, unlike the G7 ThinQ’s vertical camera module.
The smartphone houses a rear fingerprint sensor, with the G8 ThinQ branding just below it. The handset retains the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which lies just next to the USB Type-C port. The left side of the G8 ThinQ houses the volume rockers and a button with dedicated Google Assistant support. The right side of the smartphone holds the power button.
Expected Specifications
The G8 ThinQ may have a 6.1 inch OLED display and might offer a QHD+ resolution at 3120 x 1440 px. It is possible that the device is powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC. The smartphone may or may not be available in different variants, but it is sure to have 6 GB RAM and 128 gigs of internal storage for one of its variants. The LG G8 ThinQ is expected to pack a 3,400 mAh battery, with Android 9 Pie powering the device.
The LG G8 ThinQ will probably be announced on February 28 at the Mobile World Congress 2019, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain. According to sources (mentioned below), the device may release in the US on March 22, and will be priced around $900. The G8 is expected to launch in Canada with a price tag of $1,999 CAD.
Xiaomi shared an image on its Weibo account yesterday, which indicated that an important announcement regarding a new smartphone is on the line. A lot of people expected the device to be the new Mi 9. Even though the poster didn’t reveal a lot of information, it pointed towards a time of 10.00 a.m. While keeping things interesting, they used an all-black image of a digital alarm clock from MIUI.
Launch Information
As of today, Xiaomi has announced that they will host a launch event for the Mi 9 on February 20. The Mi 9 will be a flagship device, and Xiaomi Executives are claiming that the smartphone is the best looking handset from Xiaomi so far. They also claim that the device will be very powerful in terms of performance, which we’ll have to see when the device gets launched.
Expected Specifications
Previous reports indicate that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, with an octa-core CPU. The phone’s performance can be analyzed from its Geekbench score, which showed up back in January. The Mi 9 racked up a single-core score of 3158 and a multi-core score of 11174 points.
The device is also expected to support 27W fast charging, and it will probably run Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box, with MI’s custom UI on top. The smartphone may have a triple-camera setup (arranged vertically) to compete with the other smartphones in the category. A 48 MP + 12 MP + 3D ToF camera setup may be revealed to us in the end after all. The phone is speculated to sport a 6.4 inch display, with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Mi 9 may be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery.
All these features hint towards the fact that Xiaomi is looking to compete aggressively in the mid-budget phone segment. The Chinese brand is going up against brands like Motorola, Honor, and Samsung. And looking at Xiaomi’s position in the market right now, it’s a risk-worthy step to take.
Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 saw a lot of smart mirrors being unveiled. Smart mirrors are basically mirrors which have built-in assistants to receive voice commands. Some touchscreen mirrors can also display apps on the screen with extended functionalities, for instance, a smart speaker. It looks like Samsung is also targeting the same market, as it recently published a design patent. The patent clearly indicates that Samsung is working on a smart mirror. However, not taking the conventional approach, Samsung’s newly patented idea shows a TV that can convert into a smart mirror.
We have seen Samsung Smart TVs making their mark in the market. Samsung even designed a lifestyle television called “The Frame” which could be used as an art frame when the TV wasn’t being used. Samsung can use the same concept with the Smart Mirror with some tweaks.
The Patent And Design
The patent was filed in the US with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Shortly afterward, the patent was registered with the Global Design Database of the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). The patent was actually filed on October 16, 2018. According to the design patent, the Samsung Mirror TV will have a square design with rounded corners. The screen edges look to be almost non-existent, indicating that the device can be illuminated from all sides. The rear of the Mirror TV had space for all the connections and the power supply.
Features
The Mirror TV is supposed to have two different states. In the first state, you can use the device as a television, whereas, in the second state, you can use the device as a mirror. A similar principle was used with Samsung’s “The Frame”. It still isn’t clear how a square television can take the place of the conventional rectangular television, but all we can do is wait for an official launch in the distant future. As per the images included in the patent, it’s possible that you can display the contents of your smartphone directly on the TV. The device is also expected to have touchscreen enabled on the Mirror TV, in addition to Samsung’s very own voice assistant, Bixby.
Samsung’s Mirror TV design will probably take a lot of time to implement, but once it does, Samsung will have one of the best TV models portfolio in the market.

Apple is planning to launch its paid “Apple News Subscription” at an event expected on March 25. The event will probably take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park Campus, with a special focus on Apple’s newest News service.
About The Event
Apple hasn’t ‘officially’ sent out invitations yet, but its only a matter of time before Apple announces the event. In the past, Apple has targeted its March events in the past towards iPad launches. We can expect to get a refreshed iPad Mini. Especially because the iPad Mini would be the perfect companion to the new Apple News Subscription service. We could also see the new AirPods or the long-awaited AirPower charger.¸
About The Apple News Service
For a long time now, reports have been passed around that the company will soon add a paid subscription to the Apple News Bundle, which will include premium magazine and news subscriptions in a single package. This looks very similar to the service that Hulu provides for movies and shows. Last month, images surfaced which showed the Apple news service in an iOS 12.2 beta update, so this confirms the fact the service is indeed going to launch soon. Also, Apple is reportedly asking for a 50 percent cut from the publishers, depending on the number of times their articles will be read.
Although the subscription cost hasn’t been revealed yet, it is rumoured that the Apple News Service will launch at approximately $10 per month. Apple is known to take bigger steps than its competition and succeeding at them, so we’ll have to wait for the event to unearth all the details.
As we approach the rumoured launch date of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti, even more images of the graphics card retail packaging appear online. Sources claim that they captured images of retail packaging of the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti XC, Palit GTX 1660 Ti StormX and Galax GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. And looking at the images, the pictures look like they’re very authentic.
Rumoured Launch Dates
All three cards look like the variants of the upcoming Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. The speculated graphics card is supposed to release on February 22. Previously, a launch date of February 15 was expected, but that has been postponed to exactly a week later.
GeForce GTX 1660 Ti: Features
The retail packaging images clearly show the presence of the much-speculated GPU’s Turning Shaders. It also shows that the 1660 Ti will have 6 gigs of GDDR6 memory. One thing to note here is that the absence of any Ray Tracing information on the retail box may mean that the 1660 series won’t support Ray tracing.
Nothing has been announced by Nvidia so far, so we can consider all these reveals as leaks. But sources say that the rumoured launch date is already on the line. Hopefully, we’ll be able to believe in the 1660 Ti very soon?
When people talk about Battle-Royale Games, only Fortnite and PUBG take the stage. Well, not anymore. Apex Legends, the free-to-play battle royale shooter from the creators of Titanfall, just hit a new milestone. In just a week after its launch, Apex Legends has passed 25 million players. This shows that the game has just gone explosively viral. Respawn CEO Vince Zampella tweeted that the game recorded over 2 million concurrent players last weekend.
The Competition
Now, Epic Games’ Fortnite is currently the biggest competitor to this new battle-royale game. Four months after launch, Fortnite had a total of 45 million registered players across all platforms. Apex legends has already achieved more than half that player base in almost 1/16th of the same time. We can say that Apex Legends is going to hit the mark soon enough because graphs don’t lie.
Platforms Supported
One of the most important factors in making this game a success is the fact that the game is free-to-play across all the platforms. Furthermore, it’s available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, just like Fortnite. Also, the game is planning to integrate cross-platform gaming across all devices in the distant future, including smartphones. Recently, a lot of hype has been raised around mobile gaming, and we can’t help but wonder about when the initiative will take place.
It’s still very impressive how Apex legends has managed to optimize a lot of features and servers in accordance to the rising number of players. A lot of Apex Legends communities have sprung up across social media, encouraging new gameplay styles and tips/tricks. Respawn Entertainment already has its first e-sports tournament for Apex Legends starting tomorrow. It’s also planning to launch a battle pass subscription at the beginning of the next month.
Streaming And Player Base
Respawn CEO posts “Since we launched Apex Legends last week on Monday we’ve seen the creation of an Apex Legends community that is excited, thriving, and full of great feedback and ideas. Our goal is to build this game with you, our community, so keep giving us your feedback because we really are listening”. The game’s popularity was boosted by famous professional player/streamer, Michael Grzesiek aka “Shroud”. The Polish-Canadian player has a massive viewer base on the popular streaming platform, Twitch. A lot of gamers were intrigued when they saw the streamer hands-on with the game. Hence, the player base of Apex Legends just skyrocketed.
Are you planning to play Apex Legends anytime soon? Or will you wait for reviews to get your hands on the game? We might be reviewing the game very soon, so stay tuned. The game is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and is free-to-play on all devices.
Fitbit is well known for its wearables range, and while it has launched a lot of models over the years, none of them were exactly focused on the ‘youth’ sector. This may change soon, because the company is currently designing a fitness tracker that is targeted towards children.
Design
According to Technobuffalo, the exclusive images of the kid-friendly fitness tracker have been revealed. This looks to be a completely different line of products in comparison to the Fitbit Ace, which released last year. Also, the Ace was more of a smart band, rather than a fitness tracker. The new wearables have a significantly larger monochrome screen, and more a kid friendly design. Available in two colours, blue and pink as seen in the images.
Features
Brighter colours, combined with a ‘seemingly’ rugged design will make the new Fitbit band extremely suited for a young audience. The Fitbit band is expected to have similar features to the Fitbit Ace. This includes long battery life, activity tracking and some kind of water resistance.
Richard Yu, Huawei CEO announced last year that they are working on AR glasses that are compatible with a smartphone. Having said that, Huawei also revealed that they will unveil their AR glasses by the end of 2018, or in 2019.
About The Patent
However, a newly published patent reveals that Huawei is trying to pair the AR glasses with a smartwatch, not a smartphone. The patent indicates that the smartwatch can be attached to the glasses. The patent for “Eyeglass frame” was published by the World Intellectual Property Organization. According to the patent, the device is a lightweight, discrete and a relatively inexpensive AR headset.
Smartwatch Compatibility
It is interesting to note that the glasses don’t have any camera, display or communication means installed. For all these functions, you may need to have your smartwatch with you. Furthermore, the glasses have an adapter and a mirror to reflect the display towards the user. The adapter is present close to the smartwatch. The new AR glasses also support audio playback.
As per source, the smartwatch can be only attached in a single direction. The display of the smartwatch has to face inwards and the camera has to face outwards. It also has capabilities to record the user’s movements. For the AR glasses, a transparent, as well as a semi-transparent optical element, can be used. Huawei hasn’t released or even hinted at a smartwatch with a camera, so we will have to wait for a smartwatch with a camera first.
Google fans may not have to wait too long for the release of the new Pixel Smartwatch. This is because of speculations that they may be already working on it, or at least they’ve started working on it. Recently, Google acquired Fossil’s smartwatch tech, which hints at the fact that the company might actually announce its smartwatch soon. On top of that, a job listing has been found in the hardware division of the same company. And yes, you guessed it right. The job listing indicates that Google is looking for a Vice President, Hardware Engineering and a Wearable Design Manager.
About The Job Listing
This is is a clear indication that Google is already working in the smartwatch domain, and therefore looking for employees to work under its wearable department. As per the job description, “As the VP of Hardware Engineering for Wearables, you’ll work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership team for Google Hardware and will be responsible for the design, development, and shipment of all Google’s Wearable products. You will lead and enable the effectiveness of a large engineering organization primarily based in Mountain View to develop multiple next-generation wearable products simultaneously.”
Notice that they especially mentioned that the candidate has to drive excellence in mechanical and electrical design. Google has also tied up with big brands like LG and Tag Heuer to indicate that it may provide their own OS, called WearOS which may power the smartwatches. WearOS is rumoured to be compatible with both Android and iOS. Also, Google buying Fossil Tech for $40 million suggests that the first Pixel smart wearable may be inspired by a Fossil design. With just the Pixel Buds in the wearables category, Google may be looking towards stepping up its game against other big competitors like Apple.

Some of the features are aimed towards making the OS more “material friendly”, focusing on Google’s preferred theme. Read on to find other improvements within the update.
PiP And App Shortcuts
The new Chrome 72 update brings extra storage access for Android apps, which includes options for microSD cards and USB drives. The update also introduces Picture in Picture (PiP) for Chrome supported websites. As per Google’s blog post, they optimized Chrome 72 for tablet mode and touchscreen devices. Apart from this, Google also added app shortcuts for searchable applications in the launcher. Now you can find the app shortcut you want by just holding the app icon for some seconds. You can also right click on it to reveal the same options.
Google Assistant And ChromeVox Gestures
It seems that Google has finished testing the latest features of the Pixel Slate because they have brought Google Assistant and Android 9 Pie to even more Chromebooks. The new update also has a page dedicated to touch-screen gestures. It also explains how to use these gestures in Chrome’s built-in screen reader, ChromeVox. Google has added a setting in the ChromeVox options page that would read anything that’s placed under the mouse cursor.
Also, Chrome 72 will now show the files that you’ve saved via Backup and Sync under My Drive/Computers section. What do you think about the new update? Let us know in the comment section.

Google has already given us a view into the future, where augmented reality can be integrated into phone cameras. This happened at the Google I/O 2018, where Google showed off a demo with an advanced navigation system. The new nav system could guide users by showing pop-ups regarding nearby shops and businesses.
Google Maps: The AR Version
As per reports, the AR version of the Maps is still in the making. Google previously previewed another version for developers in May 2018. The interesting part of that was that Google showed maps on the lower part of the screen. The rest of the screen helped the user navigate the real-world surroundings. Google also used a blinking arrow system, which was almost alike to the arrow in Google’s previous presentation.
Map Warnings & Online Guides
Wall Street Journal’s David Pierce noticed some more intriguing details about this demo feature. After orienting itself to the surroundings, the Google AR version of Maps kept prompting David to put his phone down, so that he doesn’t hit an obstruction. Similarly, WSJ said that the app should be used by more users to test out its features. But the guide for the same wasn’t available anywhere on the app.
As far as digital guides go, Google also showed off an idea of a digital guide on the AR Maps app. One version of the app included an “animated guide”, which was called “Pizza Man”. Similarly, it can be possible that Google might have more characters/animals as app guides in the upcoming future.
One thing is for sure. The AR feature for Google Maps may take quite some time to release, depending on the number of integrations involved. Hopefully, it will available for testing by users sooner.
If we could pick one brand which made a huge impact on the Indian smartphone scene, it has to be Xiaomi for most of us. Because of the same reason, Xiaomi RedmiNote 7 is highly awaited at the moment by its fans in India. According to reports, the company will release the Redmi Note 7 at a budget-aggressive price of Rs. 9,999, which sounds very competitive. Read on to find out more.
Specifications (Chinese variant)
The Redmi Note 7 sports a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with a 2340 x 1080 px resolution. The smartphone has a waterdrop notch design, with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Besides that, the Redmi Note 7 has 2.5D curved glass, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device is powered by the Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC which runs at 1.8 GHz and supports the Adreno 512 GPU. Also, the phones are available in three different variants, a 3GB+32GB variant, a 4GB+64GB version and then a 6GB+64GB version. Storage is expandable via microSD. Furthermore, the device is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, with dual SIM connectivity.
The Redmi Note 7 has a dual rear camera setup. It includes a 48MP (f/1.8) sensor, supports EIS, PDAF. Also, The device also has a 5MP secondary camera with an LED flash. As far as the front camera goes, the Redmi Note 7 has a 13 MP (f/2.0) camera with features like autofocus and AI beauty. More features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Type-C connectivity, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, 4G LTE support and Bluetooth 4.2. The device packs a 4,000 mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is expected to launch in India very soon. The Chinese counterpart of the phone was priced at 999 yuan, which roughly converts to about Rs. 10,500. The base version of the Redmi Note 7 may be priced at Rs. 9,999 at launch because Xiaomi is known for competing in this price segment. The smartphone is supposed to be launching in February itself, but nothing can be said for sure until an official announcement is made. If released in the sub-10k segment, the Redmi Note 7 will be a strong contender to the recently launched Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20. Besides, there’s a strong niche in the market for budget phones right now.
Reports have however suggested that the launch will shift to March. This may change as Xiaomi races to grab the market against other competitors.

Now, the determined developers at Ubisoft are ready to deliver another blow with The Division 2, the second game in the franchise.
Set in Washington DC, the game follows the same timeline as its prequel. It’s placed at almost 7 months after the events of the first game. The game has a ton of new features, including eight-player-raids, and a whole redefined game engine. Tom Clancy fans will love this, that’s for sure. But are you one of them?
