YU Yutopia has been confirmed by the company and the market is rife with speculations about the device. YU has released four smartphones so far and now Yutopia is going to be it’s fifth launch. The company has put up a page mentioning pre-registration for the device. However, the page is not what you may assume. It’s not for buyers to register or pre-order Yutopia, but only to leave their information there. They will be informed by YU when the phones finally go on sale or are up for pre-order.
The company also mentions, ”This phone will not be available to the users through flash sales”. This could mean that the YU Yutopia would be available for purchase in an open sale since day one of its launch, or maybe that it could be bought only by those who sign up for this pre-registration page. Who knows if YU has decided to go the older OnePlus way and is opting for an invite-only system of sorts by allowing only the registered people to buy the phone? Only time will tell what the company has up its sleeve.
YU Yureka Plus
YU, which is a Micromax-owned smartphone manufacturer based in India, is set to launch its first high end smartphone. YU Yutopia, expected to go on sale next month, is the fifth phone YU is launching within a period of eleven months. The four other smartphones include entry level YU Yureka, followed by YU Yuphoria, YU Yureka Plus and Yunique which was launched last month.
Rumoured specs of Yutopia suggest a 3 GB as well as 4 GB variant in terms of RAM, along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. It is expected to have a 21 MP rear camera, 8 MP front camera and run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more dope on the device.
Here’s another reason for Samsung fans to glory in as news of Samsung Galaxy S7’s USB Type C port gets confirmed. Instead of the standard microUSB port, the new Samsung smartphone will come equipped with the new-age port, which has recently become a popular choice for many smartphone manufacturers.
Type C ports have been in news for a while now, and for all the good reasons. One of the biggest advantages of these is that they allow reversible charging options, which means the cord can be plugged in either way. It also allows for faster charging as well as data transfer. The latter is more efficient than data transfer using USB 3.0.
Samsung has always had an edge over other tech giants in terms of fast charging, so this is one advantage of the Type-C port that is not the highlight of S7. But the reversible cable is definitely a nice touch. Let’s see how soon other companies, which haven’t opted for it already, make this switch to USB Type C.
OnePlus India recently posted a teaser about the OnePlus X, suggesting its launch on the 29th of this month. So far there were only speculations regarding the specs of the phone but now details have been confirmed by a listing on OppoMart.

Next time you think of leaving your wired headphones plugged into your iOS or Android phone, think again. The wires of headphones act as antennae which can be used to hack into your phone with the right equipment. Welcome to the world of hacking where radiowaves are the newest tool.
A group of researchers at a French government security unit have figured out a way to send silent commands to phones. All that they needed was a laptop and an antennae -things that fit pretty much in a bag.
Like FM radio chips, the antenna on the headphones catch radiowaves to convey the command of the hacker to your handset. Depending on these commands, your phone can be used to make calls, send messages, open websites, subvert governments or spark a revolution. However, since this specific kind of hacking doesn’t disable the display of the phone, users are highly likely to realise if their phones start obeying ‘silent’ instructions.
This test was conducted from a distance of 6 feet, with above average gadgets. If they throw in slightly fancier gadgets, hacking would be possible from a distance of up to 16 feet. Looks like it’s time for Apple and Google to sit up and listen.
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are up for grabs in the country since last night. With the price bracket between Rs.62,000 and Rs. 92,000 the cost is a major discouragement for a lot of buyers. However, if you already own an iPhone 6 and want the features of its successors without burning that hole in your pocket, here are some quick jailbreak hacks for you.
The most talked about feature of the new iPhones is 3D Touch which allows the device to differentiate between three kinds of touch. Though the device necessarily has to be pressure sensitive for this to work, jailbreak tweaks allow the user to swipe up to be able to use 3D Touch on their iPhone 6. Jailbreak tweaks like Forcy, UniversalForce and Hapticle allow you to use the feature on your device.
Another highlight of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is Live Photos. This feature does not require new hardware and therefore can work on the older iPhone models as well. The Live Photos enabler tweak, however, hasn’t been working for everyone. Some users have complained of over-heating while others have mentioned freezes. Many users have managed to successfully jailbreak, yet glitches continue.
If you really want the features of the new iPhone, simply buying the device is your best bet. You could try jailbreaking, but less for the features and more for the adrenaline rush of using something you’re not allowed to be using.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale is offering some interesting offers on mobiles. But what has got everyone talking are the incredibly low prices available for iPhones. You could get a 16 GB iPhone 6 Gold for as low as Rs. 24,999, but only with exchange offer discounts. The iPhone 6, which was launched last year, currently costs Rs. 39,999 for the 16 GB Gold model. However, if you give a mid-range phone for the exchange, it cuts down the price by about Rs. 8,000. Depending on the type and brand of your phone, you can get a discount up to Rs. 15,000, bringing down the price to around Rs. 24,000.The iPhone 4s is marked at Rs. 12,999 and its price can be brought down to Rs. 7,999 post the exchange offer discount.
Any other outlet is likely to offer a value higher than Flipkart for an exchanged device, but online shopping also saves buyers a lot of hassle of hunting down the right stores for them. Either way, there’s an option available for potential customers now if they’re bent on getting themselves an Apple device. The new iPhones -6s and 6s Plus – go on sale in the country tomorrow on 16th October. Watch this space for all the latest Apple updates.
If you think you’re whiling your life away on social media instead of working on those childhood plans of taking over the world -here’s some comforting news for you -the current leaders of the world are actually doing pretty much the same thing. They have just made it a means to an end -taking to social media platforms in a bid to connect to their supporters. Here’s a quick list at what politicians all over the world have been up to.
1. David Cameron:
David Cameron is by far the most interesting name in terms of the recent bloopers made by politicians online. The British Prime Minister keeps his followers entertained as well as the world of internet stocked with memes thanks to his poorly judged selfie timing and interesting typos.
It's unacceptable there's a loophole allowing paedophile "training manuals", that's why I want to protect children by making them illegal.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is how children were banned and made illegal in England last year. And you thought beef was the issue.
2. Xi Jinping:
You know something is just not right when a country bans Facebook (along with Google and Twitter), yet the president chooses to join the social media platform to share posts from his meeting with the American President, Barack Obama. This is precisely what happened in China last month. President Jinping posted updates from his meeting with Obama on his Facebook page.
This was later followed by updates about a meeting with, ironically enough, Mark Zuckerberg. However, disappointingly enough, the page doesn’t have any selfies of the Chinese president.
3. Angela Merkel:
German Chancellor has already made attempts to tackle racist posts on Facebook, by raising her voice against them through her Facebook page. Merkel also maintains an Instagram blog called Bundeskanzlerin
Angela Merkel with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Once again, however, the blog has no images of selfies or German sunsets. The blog is an impersonal account of Merkel’s professional travels and projects. No wonder Merkel hasn’t been as entertaining as the British Prime Minister with her social media updates. Yet.
4. Barack Obama:
Barack Obama is one of the most widely followed political leaders on social media. With 64.9 million Twitter followers,44.9 million supporters on Facebook and millions of views on his YouTube channel, Obama has successfully managed incorporate social media in his political campaigns and strategies. Right from the beginning of his campaign, Obama always outdid his opponents like John McCain and Michel Romney in terms of popularity on social media.
Even though his sites are run by his campaign staff, personal Tweets are signed “bo” by him. After all, which other political leader mentions details like the Godfather movies as favourites or enjoying spending time with family on their Facebook page? Obama has definitely managed to make his followers feel like they are all participants in the same conversation.
5. Narendra Modi:
“This is the first election where social media has assumed an important role and the importance of this medium will only increase in the years to come. It became a direct means of information and gave us the much-needed local pulse.”
Narendra Modi had made the statement in a blog post right before the election results. As he became the Indian Prime Minister, his victory message became one of the most retweeted posts on social media in the country.
The Indian Prime Minister is quite popular on social media, similar to his American counterpart, Barack Obama. Modi currently has over 30 million Facebook followers and about 15.5 million followers on Twitter.
If leaders like Churchill and Wilson from the previous century were still around, they would definitely have interesting things to say about contemporary political trends. As more and more politicians struggle to become tech savvy, it is fun, often hilarious, to watch them grapple with selfie sticks and front cameras.
Just when you thought it was all about austere dressing and MPs falling asleep in the Parliament, social media happened to change the face of national and international politics forever -but for better or worse? Perhaps only time will tell.
BlackBerry has opened registrations for its newest smartphone, BlackBerry Priv and interested customers can sign up for the device here.
The phone, to cost $630, is the device BlackBerry is making its comeback with in the tech-world. It will also be the first BlackBerry phone to run on Android. Earlier this month, the company CEO, John Chen officially showcased the Priv (albeit in a slightly fumbling manner) in a video.
It has been officially confirmed that Priv will have a slide-out keyboard feature and a curved display that is reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge. Some of the specs have also been confirmed and they include a 5.4 inch screen, 3410 mAh battery and Schneider-Kreuznach certified camera. Watch this space for more updates on the BlackBerry Priv.

The tech giant has found itself at the centre of legal trouble with a US jury. It has been ruled out that Apple is using technology patented by the University of Wisconsin. The patent in question involves the chips used in iPhone, iPad Mini, and iPad Air.
Apple was sued last year in April by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) and now it may have to pay a fine of almost a billion USD. WARF claims that the A7, A8, and A8X processors used in the iPhone 5S, 6, and 6 Plus were developed from technology that had already been patented by the University in 1998.
If during the course of the legal proceedings, it is discovered that Apple used the technology in its devices while having knowledge of the patent, the fine amount may go up.Irrespective of whether or not Apple has to pay this ridiculously huge fine, there is some more trouble in store for the company. Last month, WARF sued Apple for the technology used in its newest iPhones and iPad Pro. WARF has had a track record of suing tech companies in the past, including a law suit with Intel in 2008 which lasted for almost a year.

Pacific Crest, an investment bank, revealed on Sunday that the latest Apple smartphone has so far sold less than the expected number analysts had in mind. The expected numbers are around 76 million while the shipments so far have been of around 67 million iPhones.
Within three days of its launch on 25th September, Apple had gone ahead to make an official statement of how the sales have been unprecedented in the history of iPhones with 13 millions devices sold by 28th September. In the light of these claims, Pacific Crest’s report comes as a surprise. The company claims that Apple has seen a drop in the demand of the phones since then, resulting in reduced orders being placed by Apple to its suppliers. Pacific Crest commented on it and said:
“In contrast to the launch of the iPhone 6 last year, we note: … less than 10% of the carrier stores we surveyed have been sold out of iPhones; last year, carriers didn’t have iPhone stock on hand until November…almost all carriers surveyed indicated that iPhone 6s sales were down y/y, compared to the iPhone 6.”
iPhone 6 had sold as much as 74.4 million devices, giving Apple the most profitable quarter any tech company had ever seen. Things don’t seem to be following the same pattern this year. Let’s see how the numbers stand for Apple by the end of this year.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the worlds first 4k display equipped smartphone. Sony has also included a new fingerprint scanner at an innovative location, right on the power button. The company has not done much about the design apart from adding a matte finish on the Z5 and a ultra glossy finish on the Z5 Premium which will be available in Gold or Chrome. The remaining design is based on the use of metal as a structure and Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back of all the devices.

The latest devices by Google have finally arrived in India. Starting today at 2 PM, Amazon has begun pre-orders for Google Nexus 5X in the country. The smartphone will be finally available on the 21st of October.
The device was first introduced to us last month by Google in their official event, and is now marked at a price of Rs. 31,990 for the 16 GB variant and Rs. 35, 990 for the 32GB variant in India.
The Nexus 5X comes with a 5.2-inch FHD display, USB Type-C which allows almost 4 hours of battery post a 10-minute charging routine, and is available in three colours – Carbon black, Quartz white and Ice blue. The company will also be bringing in a range of covers to India, along with the handsets, priced at Rs. 2,800.
We checked out the Ice Blue variant. The back of the smartphone comes with a smooth matte finish. The size of the device feels just right in the hands.
On the camera front the smartphone comes equipped with a 12.3 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera. The smartphone is capable of capturing 4K and slow-motion videos, making this phone the most advanced multimedia Nexus device to date.
As opposed to the all-metal body of the Nexus 6P, 5X comes in a plastic body of size 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm, and weighs 136 g. The device also has Nexus Imprint, a fingerprint sensor located on the back of the body. A single touch of the sensor would power on and unlock Nexus 5X for usage.
It is further packed with a 2 GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset and OS Android Marshmallow 6.0. The stock Android is seamless as always; Google has provided minimal bloatware – a move which will be appreciated.
