Oppo R15 Will Be Another Apple iPhone X Knockoff

Apple started it and now Android OEMs are following the trend. A teaser from Oppo confirms that the upcoming Oppo R15 and the Oppo R15 Plus will have a notch. In fact, the smartphone looks similar to the Asus ZenFone 5.

From the initial impression of the teaser, the Oppo R15 and R15 Plus has an almost bezel-less design with a notch on the top.

    Speculated specifications of Oppo R15

The Oppo R15 is expected to have a 5.99 inch 2160 x 1080px OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 or 660 chipset with up to 6GB RAM and 64GB Storage.

The smartphone will have a dual primary camera setup. In fact, it is speculated to have a similar camera setup as of the OnePlus 5T. For the front-facing camera, the device might have a 16 MP shooter with facial recognition.

    Asus Zenfone 5Z
Speculated specifications of Oppo R15 Plus

The Oppo R15 Plus will have a 6.2 inch OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Similarly, the plus model is also expected have an In-screen fingerprint scanner like the Vivo APEX. The smartphone is expected to feature the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series chipset with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The smartphone will have a similar camera setup like the Oppo R15. Finally, the Oppo R15 Plus will have a slightly bigger battery with a possible wireless charging support.

    Conclusion

The Oppo R15 and the Oppo R15 Plus are expected to feature the latest technology in the smartphone industry. However, just like the Oppo R11s, these devices might just be limited to the Chinese market. In fact, the OnePlus 6 is also expected to feature a similar design with a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.

  • Oppo R15 Is Another iPhone X Lookalike With A Display Notch

Oppo R15 Is Another iPhone X Lookalike With A Display Notch

The Apple iPhone X was launched in September 2017 to enormous anticipation. For weeks leading up to the launch, there were hints that the iPhone X won’t look like a regular iPhone. The launch confirmed that as the iPhone X was unveiled with nearly bezel-less design and notch on the display. While the notch received mixed reviews at the beginning, it has since then, become very popular.

    Apple
    iPhone X

The Oppo R15 looks like another Android phone trying to go the iPhone route. New leaked images of the device reveal that R15 will have a nearly bezel-less design but, with a notch on the top. The notch on the Oppo R15 does look to house the front-facing camera and the earpiece. However, it doesn’t look like it will have any of the hardware similar to what the notch on the iPhone houses.

The company has stuck to its older design for the back of the smartphone. In fact, it resembles the Oppo R11s.

A recent rumour speculated that Android P might natively support the notch. Therefore, there have been speculations that the upcoming Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel 3 XL might come with a notch with the iPhone X-like Face ID setup.

    Specifications:

The Oppo R15 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch QHD+ OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Oct-core chipset with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

The device might come with the dual camera setup with a primary RGB lens and a secondary telephoto lens. For the front-facing camera, the smartphone might offer high-resolution 2o MP camera with features like Animoji and Face Unlock.

While the iPhone X was met with scepticism, it has since then, become a fan-favourite. However, smartphones like the Huawei P20 Lite, P20 and P20 Plus are expected to be launched with an iPhone X-like notch as well. It begs the question, is the display notch, the answer the design problems of future completely bezel-less smartphones?

  • OPPO R13 Is The iPhone X Clone You Need

OPPO R13 Is The iPhone X Clone You Need

The Apple iPhone X is the most expensive iPhone ever. In a country like India, buying the 256GB variant of the iPhone X can cost you over a lakh, which is not a small amount for a smartphone. Now, being the ‘trendsetter’ that Apple is, it has prompted OPPO to go the bezel-less route and embrace the “notch” life as well.

In new leaked images of the upcoming OPPO R13, the influence of the iPhone X is on full display. The OPPO R13 has been revealed to have a design way too similar to the iPhone X with a glass back, vertically placed dual cameras and a bezel-less display.

According to a report, OPPO had filed a display patent back in September which showed an iPhone X-like notch on the top alongside a full-screen display. The leaked images certainly reveal the implementation of that patent as OPPO sets out to make an Android-powered iPhone X.

There is also a home bar at the bottom of the screen, just like the iPhone X. The iPhone X uses gestures for navigation within the OS since there is no home button due to shrunken bezels and, it appears that OPPO has done the same, even though, Android has had on-screen navigation buttons since eternity.

To recall, the OPPO R11 was also uncannily similar to the iPhone 7 Plus which became more famous because the OPPO R11 was the OnePlus 5 which resulted in comparisons. So, OPPO’s move is not surprising but, the company has gone all out this time.

Face ID on the iPhone X

It is worth noting here that there is no fingerprint sensor visible in the photos. Now, either OPPO has housed the sensor in the lock button like the Razer Phone or, has its own version of Face ID. No word on specifications or release date of the phone has been revealed as of now.

  • Is This What The OnePlus 5T Will Look Like?

Is This What The OnePlus 5T Will Look Like?

OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 5T is a real phone and not the work of someone’s imagination. It is expected that the OnePlus 5T will have a new design and display with same hardware as the OnePlus 5. On the 3rd of November, OPPO, OnePlus’ parent company launched the OPPO R11s and R11s Plus with thin bezels and tall displays and 18:9 aspect ratio. The OnePlus 5, when it was launched in June 2017 looked almost identical to the OPPO R11. This means that it is fair to assume that the OnePlus 5T will take a lot of design cues from the OPPO R11s.

The rumours and the launch of the OPPO R11s falls in line as well. The OnePlus 5T is expected to be an incremental rather than a drastic upgrade over the OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 5T is expected to have a 6-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. A tall display means that the phone will be sleeker than the OnePlus 5 and have thinner bezels as well. The fingerprint sensor is expected to be relocated to the back of the phone just above the OnePlus logo. All of these design elements can be found on the OPPO R11s as well.

Apart from a design change, the OnePlus 5T is expected to have the same hardware as the OnePlus 5. When the OnePlus 3T was launched, it had the same design and hardware except for a bigger battery and a new chipset. In this case, since the OnePlus 5 already has the best flagship chipset, the OnePlus 5T will stick to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 6GB/8GB of RAM.

OnePlus has just confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5T will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack which is a good news for anyone waiting to upgrade to the OnePlus 5T. The speculated date of launch of the OnePlus 5T is the 20th of November and if that turns out to be true, then OnePlus should be sending out press invites soon.

  • OPPO R11S Renders Are Uncannily Similar To The OnePlus 5T

OPPO R11S Renders Are Uncannily Similar To The OnePlus 5T

OPPO has announced that the new OPPO R11S will be launched on the 2nd of November at an event in China. Even before the announcement was made, there were several renders leaked which revealed a design shift from the OPPO R11 launched earlier in 2017. What’s interesting though, is that the new press renders resemble another speculated device, the OnePlus 5T.

In the images above, you can see what the OPPO R11S might look like from all the angles. You can’t help but notice the similarities between the R11S and the OnePlus 5T here with the aspect ratio, screen size, and camera and fingerprint placement.

This however, should not come as a surprise as the OnePlus 5 looked identical to the OPPO R11 with the same dimensions, camera placement and finish of the phone. It is worth noting that OPPO is the parent organisation of OnePlus.

The launch of the OPPO R11S could signal a trickle down effect and the OnePlus 5T with a much awaited 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels could see the light of day in the coming weeks. The OPPO R11S is expected to have a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 px resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4GB RAM and 63GB onboard storage. The OnePlus 5T is expected to have the same hardware as the OnePlus 5 and also the same camera specifications.

The OnePlus 5T is expected to be launched on the 20th of November while the R11S is confirmed for a 2nd of November launch.

  • MWC 2016 : Five Best Tech Innovations On Display

Phones, and then some more phones expectedly dominated the proceedings at the Mobile World Congress 2016, as big name players such as Samsung, LG along with first timers such as Xiaomi launched new flagship devices, but the MWC wasn’t only about smartphones this year.

This was the year when MWC went beyond just smartphones and explored deeper corners of the consumer tech industry. On show were products and technological innovations ranging from VR headsets, 360-degree cameras, home security robots, convertible tablet/laptop hybrids and much more during. So let’s rewind and take a look at the best technological innovations that MWC brought to us in 2016.

Super VOOC Quick Charging and SmartSensor Image Stabilization

    super vooc

Oppo’s much-hyped, “Wow the World,” event did not bring too much to the tech world in terms of hardware, but in terms of technological breakthroughs, it was second to no event and showcased technology that could seriously change the way phones perform in the future.

Oppo brought to the world the “SmartSensor Image Stabilization,” technology which is the first sensor-based image stabilization tech in the world, along with Super VOOC quick-charging technology which can charge a 2500mAh battery 45 percent in five minutes of charging, and 100 percent in about 15 minutes. Now that is quick.

OPPO’s take on fast charging is brilliant in the sense that it uses low-voltage to charge batteries. Most types of fast charge work by pushing out more amps, but VOOC keeps your standard amperage, reducing the risk of overheating or battery damage.

    Xperia Ear

    xperia ear

At the MWC 2016 Sony announced three big innovations in the form of peripherals: a projector, a life-blogging camera, and an in-ear personal assistant. The best amongst the three, the Xperia ear. It is a tiny Bluetooth-connected ear piece which acts like a voice-controlled personal assistant which can take calls, send messages, get traffic updates or check the weather and even help you finding your way around the city. Step ahead towards the future we say.

The earpiece is comfortable and discreet and is compatible with Sony’s own software while also being equipped with the power to use Google Now helping users take advantage of Android’s ever-expanding voice control functions.

    Nokia OZO camera

The Mobile World Congress, 2016 saw a lot of interesting devices, and one very interesting device that the tech world came across was the Nokia Ozo VR camera which will in all probability be the first cinema grade virtual reality recorder. The device comes with the capability to record and store up to 45 minutes of audio and video

Nokia Ozo, is a camera like none other which combines live streaming, live monitoring, automatic stitching (a process used to blend the separate camera feeds) and 3D audio and video. With the Ozo Nokia could alleviate the headaches and obstacles faced by early VR filmmakers. With the Ozo, Nokia will look to establish itself as the go-to VR production solution and become the market leader in this growing segment.

    Sync 3

    gallery-1456152089-ford-sync-3-1-640x454

One of the biggest car manufacturer in the world, Ford, is looking at bringing a revolution as big to the motorists experience as what smart capabilities brought along with them to phones a decade back. Ford unveiled the Sync 3 technology for car dashboards which will bring an infotainment system that will allow users to connect to the Sync 3 with their smartphones and access hundreds of applications and services.

Sync 3 is equally adaptable with android and iOS and allows them to enjoy apps and services through the cars dashboard. It comes with an 8 inches touch screen and voice recognition features with easy to navigate and user-friendly interface. Ford claims that the Sync 3 is not just another technology, butt rather it is a whole new level of life-like experience for the users. Looking at its potential we can’t disagree.

    4-Axis Optical Image Stabilization

    4 axis ois

Xiaomi’s latest flagship, Mi 5 sports, a 16-megapixel rear sensor that uses Sony IMX29, but what truly sets the phone apart is the technological innovation on display with the 4-Axis Optical Image Stabilization system on board.

The rear camera on the Mi 5 promises to capture great images and videos with superior focus thanks to its new OIS technology that uses 4-axis rather than the traditional 2-axis that most other smartphones currently use. Xiaomi demonstrated the stability of its camera by comparing it to the iPhone 6s, which is considered to have the best OIS currently in the market.

The 4-axis OIS basically gives you more stability under shaky conditions. While traditional 2-axis OIS can work around rotational movements, the 4-axis can handle transversal as well, because shakiness comes in all directions. The 4-axis OIS technology corrects shake in close shots and can capture accurate movement in distant shots as well. All of this translates into smoother, sharper and blur-free images.

  • OPPO Unveils 15-Minute Flash Charge and SmartSensor at MWC 2016

OPPO Unveils 15-Minute Flash Charge and SmartSensor at MWC 2016

Oppo, fresh off its major milestone of achieving 50 million smartphone sales in 2015 is looking to capitalise on its good work and has presented today Smart Sensor image stabilization and Super VOOC Flash Charge technologies for smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2016.

OPPO, as it seems, has made a significant dent in the problem of slow charging of batteries by the introduction of Super VOOC Flash Charge technology. Super VOOC Flash Charge is a marked improvement over 2014’s VOOC Flash Charge tech. The new offering from OPPO takes things to another level by promising 10 hours of talk time with only five minutes of charging, and filling a 2500 mAh battery in only 15 minutes, a never-before-seen speed, as claimed by OPPO.

“With our commitment to equipping consumers with the best technology, OPPO invests great efforts in technological innovation,” said Mr. Sky Li, OPPO Global Vice-President, Managing Director of International Mobile Business and President of OPPO India. “We are excited to share these breakthrough technologies with the world at MWC 2016 — they’re the result of our commitment to listening to consumers and valuing their feedback to create more delightful user experiences for them in the future.”

Super VOOC Flash Charge uses a 5V low-voltage pulse-charge algorithm, ensuring a low-temperature charge that’s safe for the battery and dynamically regulating the current to charge the phone in the shortest time possible.  Super VOOC Flash Charge supports Micro USB or type-C interfaces, in line with the global standard.

SmartSensor Image Stabilization: The first ever sensor-based, pixel-level optical image stabilizer

According to OPPS claims, OPPO’s SmartSensor which relies on groundbreaking MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system),  is the first-ever sensor-based solution for smartphones, as well as the smallest optical image stabilizer of any kind in the world.

OPPO also claims that its SmartSensor tech is better than the competition in the sense that Existing lens-based stabilizers can only correct for vibrations on two axes of motions, the pitch axis, and yaw axis, even though the most common type of unwanted shaking during photography actually takes place on the roll axis. SmartSensor solves this problem, allowing for image stabilization on three axes, pitch, yaw and the all-important roll. Making split-second adjustments with its comb-shaped monocrystalline silicon MEMS, SmartSensor achieves full three-axis image stabilization in a mere 15 milliseconds.

OPPO’s Smart Sensor is also higly efficient and as such OPPO expects it to be a hit in the coming days.

SmartSensor is the world’s first pixel-level image stabilizer, and if OPPO’s claims are to be believed making OPPO smartphones become essentially like pocket-sized SLR cameras.

  • Oppo’s New Handset Seems Heavily ‘Inspired’ by the iPhone 6 Plus

Oppo’s New Handset Seems Heavily ‘Inspired’ by the iPhone 6 Plus

After design overlaps between HTC’s One A9 and iPhone 6, looks like Oppo has also joined the league with its new smartphone. As hardware leaks of Oppo’s latest addition to the world of smartphones emerge, we see a device with a metal uni-body which looks very similar like that of the iPhone 6 Plus.

HTC had given its device a dash of originality by placing its camera in the centre of the back of the phone. Oppo, on the other hand, has refused to be too creative with its design -its camera is located exactly where it is in an iPhone. The only thing different is the orientation of the LED flash.Oppos iPhone inspired phone

To add this, there are also other identical features which include a bottom-firing speaker grille, headphone jack and port for charging, all positioned on the underside of the phone.

What is this charm of Apple that has captivated both consumers and manufacturers all over? Whether you hate it or love it, or love to hate or hate to love it -either way it’s hard to ignore the presence the Apple in the tech world. Do you think the design of the iPhone is actually as popular as all other companies are making it out to be?
