  • Google Removes 29 Malicious Photo-Editing Apps From Play Store

Google Removes 29 Malicious Photo-Editing Apps From Play Store

Google is on the roll again. This time, it reportedly took down 29 suspicious Google apps from the Play Store. And the surprising thing was the fact that these applications had already been downloaded over millions of times. Read on to find out more.

    What Do These Apps Do?

As reported, several apps which are downloaded from the Play Store tend to display objectionable links and content on their screens. The links and clickable content then redirects the users to ‘scam’ websites, where information is misused. Supposedly, these ‘fake’ apps can access remote ad configuration servers for performing their phishing attacks. Previously, Google banned some Crypto-mining apps from their Play Store, due to policy changes by Google in July 2018. It also banned Chrome crypto-mining apps from the Chrome store. Crypto-jacking was a pretty common activity at that time. Hackers used to take over user’s devices for crypto-mining, even on mobile devices.

    List Of Malicious Apps

Below is the list of the apps that were pulled off the Google Play Store. If you still have any app from the list in your phone, go ahead and uninstall it. It’s for the best

A lot of these apps are Beauty camera based apps, which lure users via promises of earning “a lot of money in a short span of time”. Our sources say that a huge percentage of downloads were performed in Asia, particularly India. This clearly indicates the kind of audience such developers are targeting. These apps are tough to remove from the application list because they create failsafes such as creating fake app shortcuts. These apps provide irritating full-screen ads, that are very disturbing and take you to another webpage. Thankfully, Google is trying to get rid of such apps, which seems like a good move.

  • Samsung Galaxy A90 To Have A Pop Up Selfie Camera

Samsung Galaxy A90 To Have A Pop Up Selfie Camera

Smartphone makers have used clever techniques to avoid the controversial notch design in their products. Some companies have used a second display, or have used a punch hole display to house the selfie camera. But the most interesting solution has to be, the use of pop up cameras. first seen in the Vivo NEX and the Oppo Find X. Samsung has so far avoided the notch, did cave to it for its budget Galaxy M series. Looks like Samsung is trying to think of better ways to avoid the notch again with the introduction of a pop up selfie camera. The Smartphone with this feature is called the Galaxy A90

This seems interesting as a big Smartphone maker is interested in this trend. The smartphone is set to launch later this year.

    Pop-Up Selfie Cameras In Smartphones

    Top 10 Features

Pop up selfie cameras are a year old concept at this point. First shown off by Vivo at CES 2018, the first smartphone was the Vivo Apex concept smartphone. The first commercial smartphone to feature a mechanical pop-up selfie camera was the Vivo NEX S. Oppo one-upped Vivo by launching a mechanical slider to hide both the cameras. Not many smartphone makers since have toyed with the idea but many are soon expected to launch smartphones with the feature.

Samsung launching a pop up selfie camera smartphone may be a big deal for the industry. A big smartphone maker jumping into the trend could see more mainstream phones with the feature. And while we don’t have much information about the Galaxy A90 right now, the guys over at TrendingLeaks have made up a concept on how the Galaxy A90 may look like.

  • ZenBook 13, 14 And 15 Announced By ASUS In India

ZenBook 13, 14 And 15 Announced By ASUS In India

Since lightweight laptops are the ones ruling the markets these days, ASUS decided to show up with its own answer to all this. It just introduced the latest members of the ZenBook family, which are the ZenBook 13, ZenBook 14 and ZenBook 15. On the user-base side, the three laptops are targeting those users who prefer portability over everything. ASUS has previously released some pretty nice notebooks, so now it’s time to see what the new ZenBooks have to offer.

    ASUS ZenBook 13

The ASUS ZenBook 13 in just 16.9 mm thin. Featuring a 13.3 inch Full-HD display with a NanoEdge design, the ZenBook 13 achieves a 95% screen-to-body ratio. With ultra-thin side and bottom bezels (2.8mm-3.3mm), it claims to be the world’s smallest 13 inch laptop. If you think the small screen at 13 inches is an issue, the display is optimized for 178-degree viewing angles. We think that this makes it a great device overall.

The ASUS ZenBook 13 will be marketed in two variants. The first one will pack a 8th gen Intel Core i7-8565U CPU, which will be clocked at 1.8 GHz. The second variant will pack an Intel Core i5-8265U clocked at the same speed. Both variants will have the 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150, and the users can pick either the 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM model. There’s a lot of variety in storage options too, with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of SSD across these devices.

The ASUS ZenBook will start at Rs. 71,990. The device is expected to last 14 hours on a single charge. Also, it will be available in 2 colour options : Royal Blue and Icicle Silver.

    ASUS ZenBook 14

The next iteration in the ZenBook series is the ASUS ZenBook 14, which will be 0.63 inches thin. The 1.09kg notebook will sport a 14-inch Full HD display, with a 92% screen-to-body ratio. Again, this is possible because of very thin bottom and side bezels. Again, it will be available in the same processor options as the ZenBook 13, with similar graphic options.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 will last up to 13 hours on a single charge, and it will be available at a price starting Rs. 72,990.

    ASUS ZenBook 15

The best variant in the new ZenBook Series, the ASUS ZenBook 15 has a much bigger 15.6 inch screen. Not surprisingly, with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. It has two CPU options : An Intel Core i7-8565U (8th gen) processor and Intel Core i5-8265U (8th gen) processor. Backed by the same graphics as the other two notebooks, we think that it will deliver pretty well. Similar storage options as the ZenBook 13 and 14 are available.

Elon Musk Releases All of Tesla’s Patents To Save Earth

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is known for being a genius, motor mouth billionaire. Under his leadership, Tesla has transitioned from being just another wannabe electric brand to the best selling one. His social media presence is mostly controversial. However, there is no denying that he has done a lot for the planet.

We now have one more reason to praise him. On Thursday, Elon announced that all of Tesla’s patent will be made public in a bid to save the planet.

In a blog post shared by him on Twitter, Musk says “Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport. If we clear a path to the creation of compelling electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal. Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.”

    Tesla Going Strong

This comes after a report in CNBC stated that Tesla has around 83 percent market share of electric cars in the US. The sales of the company also have increased over 50 percent since last year. With this step, Musk feels that more companies will make use of electric powered vehicles and would contribute to save the planet.

And also using the huge marketing and sales apparatus to take over the market. “We couldn’t have been more wrong. The unfortunate reality is the opposite,” he said, noting that electric or clean-fuel cars “at the major manufacturers are small to non-existent.”

The shares of Tesla declined following mixed reactions to the news.

  • Apple Blocks Google’s Internal Apps On iOS

Apple Blocks Google’s Internal Apps On iOS

Just after a few days of banning Facebook’s notorious internal apps on its iOS, Apple has now blocked Google for the same. The company can no longer run its internal apps on Apple’s platform following a privacy scare. This was reported by TechCrunch and Bloomberg’s Mark Bergen.

The main reason cited behind this decision is Google and Facebook’s use of these apps to monitor users activity. Apple’s move to block Google’s developer certificate comes just a day after Google disabled its Screenwise Meter app following press coverage. Google’s app also relied on Apple’s enterprise program. The program enables the distribution of internal apps within a company.

According to a statement by Google “We’re working with Apple to fix a temporary disruption to some of our corporate iOS apps, which we expect will be resolved soon.” This statement was given to Mark Bergen. Since that, Apple seems to have revoked Google’s apps.

    Facebook’s Beef with Apple

This news comes days after Facebook was caught installing root certificates on iOS devices. These would help the company steal the usage data of the users. This was being done in exchange of an amount up to US $20. Apple also took necessary action against Facebook on the matter.

It was time for Apple to take a stand too, as the issues concerned privacy, a part where Apple claims to stand out. Incidents like these would’ve shown the company in a bad light. Since the news broke out, Facebook, in a statement to Bloomberg said “We can confirm that we have our enterprise certificate restored and we are working on getting our internal apps back up and running.”
