Lenovo Vibe Shot is a Camera Masquerading as a Smartphone

With the saturation of the smartphone market, companies are looking for a unique proposition for their devices. Lenovo, the Chinese device maker, has put its bet on a better camera for its new device, the Lenovo Vibe Shot.

The Vibe Shot looks fantastic in the first glance. The back of the device is designed to look like a camera, and the top end has a brushed metal type surface that is partnered with a black surface that makes the device look classy. It has a thin light aluminum frame that give it a fantastic metal appeal. The device has physical control that allow the user to have a camera like experience. It features a physical camera button as it just doesn’t feel like taking an image unless you press a button. This feature has been absent from smartphones for quite a while.

Vibe Shot has a light Aluminium body and comes in multiple colors.

Apart from the physical camera button, the device also has a physical slider to switch between smart and pro-mode. The camera on the device is a 16 MP Shooter with OIS and tricolor flash. At the front, the device sports an 8 MP front shooter. It sports a 5 inch display Full HD display for the user to get the best glimpse of the action.

Lenovo has also packed the Vibe Shot with some great innards. The handset is powered by a 64 bit, 1.7 GHz, Snapdragon 615 processor along with 3 GB RAM. It has 32 GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB through MicroSD, so space is not an issue on this one. It will run the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Lenovo Vibe shot will be available from June this year for a price of $349 (Approx Rs. 21,000) which is simply fantastic for a device that offers so much. We can’t wait to get our hands on this one.  It will be available in red, white or grey color options.

  • Exclusive : Samsung S6 and S6 Edge Arrive in India on 10th April; Pricing Revealed

Exclusive : Samsung S6 and S6 Edge Arrive in India on 10th April; Pricing Revealed

Samsung officially unwrapped its latest flagships, the S6 and S6 Edge, yesterday in Barcelona. Now sources close to iGyaan suggest that the two new entrants will go on sale in India on 10th April.

The normal Galaxy S6 boasts a slightly larger screen size, than its predecessor, with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QuadHD display with a pixel density of 577ppi. Powering the new Galaxy S6 will be an Exynos Octa-Core chipset clocked at 2.1 Ghz which is bundled with a 3GB LPDDR4.

Meanwhile, in terms of optics, it retains the same 16MP count just like its predecessor, though it gets OIS which was missing in the previous iteration. In addition, it also gets a 5MP front facing camera.

On the memory front, the Galaxy S6 will be available in three variant, 32, 64 and 128 GB variants. All based on UFS 2.0 (Universal Flash Storage). And yes, just like the iPhone – the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge will not have micro SD expandability.

Connectivity on the new flagship has been given a slight upgrade, it gets LTE Cat 6 compatibility, while other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, while globally unlocked variants will work on TDD and FDD LTE bands. So networks should not be a problem for Samsung this time around. It also gets a fingerprint scanner while juicing up the smartphone would be 2550mAh battery.

Coming to its curved counterpart, all specs and features are the same except it gets a slightly beefier battery unit at 2600mAh along with an Exynos Octa core chipset clocked at 2.5GHz. Meanwhile, the edge is mostly for aesthetic appeal. At the event, the company announced that it took up to 800-degree to bend the Gorilla Glass 4 display.

Samsung has included quick charging and wireless charging capabilities in the new S6 and the S6 Edge. The company claims that a 10 minute charge will result in 4 hours of usage.

The latest flagship, or should we say flagships from Samsung go on sale in India starting April 10th meanwhile pricing is expected to be around Rs. 52,999 for the S6, while its curved counterpart will likely get a price tag of Rs.61,999.

Do check out our Hands-On with the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in the video below:

Sony Launches the Sleek Xperia M4 Aqua at MWC 2015

Sony has announced its latest Xperia M4 smartphone at MWC 2015 in Barcelona. In addition, Sony also announced its Xperia Z4 tablet, making them the only two devices Sony has announced so far at MWC 2015.  The Xperia M4 gets a launch price of €299 (Rs. 23,000 approx.), making it a mid range smartphone, which is a bit surprising as Sony hasn’t spruced up its flagship and not launched a successor to the Xperia Z3.

The newly launched Xperia M4 is the first IP68 certified waterproof phone which does not feature rubberised caps for its microUSB port. It gets a 5.2 inch 720p IPS display, while powering the smartphone would be a Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor, Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

    sony xperia m4 aqua

Optics on the phone include a 13MP primary camera and a 5 MP selfie cam, while storage options include 8GB and 16GB internal memory and microSD card support. The Xperia M4 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, gets 4G LTE connectivity,  while juicing up the smartphone is a 2400 mAh battery.

The Xperia Z4 Aqua design is quite similar to the Xperia Z3, featuring a tempered glass to protect the display and the frame. It also gets a dedicated camera shutter.

The smartphone will be available globally this spring in white, black, coral and silver colour options. As of now there’s no word yet on an Indian launch date or price but we expect Sony won’t be taking too long to launch the Xperia M4 here.

Hands On | Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

At the Mobile World Congress today, Samsung unveiled two flagship handsets, Galaxy S6 and its the curvy and stylish sibling, the Galaxy S6 Edge. The new S iterations are a complete overhaul and triumph over the bugs and lags of the previous releases. Both the premium gadgets proved to be the showstoppers of the event. At the same event, Samsung also announced the arrival of its new payment system.

Coming back to the stars of the show, both the smartphones sport a new design language with an all glass front and back highlighted with stainless steel.  The Galaxy S6 is standard in appearance, while the edgy Galaxy S6 is the one that gathers the extra points for its one-of-a-kind design. Galaxy S6 Edge has appealing displays on either edge.

Talking about the internal specifications of the handsets, then the two bad boys pack a punch. The devices are almost identical and differ only in terms of their processor and battery power. The S6 is equipped with the latest 2.1 GHz Exynos octa-core processor, while a peppier 2.5 GHz Exynos octa-core chipset is embedded on to the edgy Galaxy S6.

The RAM capacity of both the devices stands equal at 3 GB. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge resemble the iPhone in their storage capacity options. Just like Apple’s flagship, the two phones come in three variants – 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, all based on UFS 2.0 (Universal Flash Storage).

Both the phones run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with TouchWiz UI on top. A 2550mAh battery is fixed to power Galaxy S6 and a slightly higher 2600mAh battery supports the S6 Edge. The handsets sport a new 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QuadHD display that delivers eye burning sharpness.

With the new flagships, Samsung introduced quick charging and wireless charging capabilities along with Fingerprint scanner. The connectivity options comprise of LTE Cat 6, Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge; Both Feature Incredibly Fast Charging Capabilities

The much anticipated forthcoming flagship from Samsung has finally been officially unwrapped. Our earlier leak might have ruined surprises, if there were any. As expected, there are indeed two versions of the flagship – one with the standard screen while the other one is a curved display.

Watch our Hands On with the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge here:

The normal Galaxy S6 boasts a slightly larger screen size than its predecessor with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QuadHD display with a pixel density of 577PPI. Powering the new Galaxy S6 will be an Exynos Octa-Core chipset clocked at 2.1 Ghz which is bundled with a 3GB LPDDR4.

Charging the Galaxy from 0-100 takes the half the time as the iPhone 6

The pricing remains a question (which should be answered shortly), however it is rumored that the Galaxy S6 Edge will cost more than the Note Edge did at launch.

Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S6 : How Far Has It Come

Last year, Samsung launched the tweaked Galaxy S5 in the February, and today, exactly after a year, the Korean electronics firm has added one more iteration to the S series listing. Samsung today official brought out two of its much-awaited flagships Galaxy S6 and the curvy fellow Galaxy S6 Edge, which look robust and classy at the same time.

The two bad boys pack a punch, and if we talk about the Galaxy S6, then it holds an all-new design language. The phone reminds us of the new iPhone in terms of fixed storage and packs many top-notch specs that were missing in the previous generation S5.

Let’s take a look at the two flagships and how the S6 has advanced over time:

  • Exclusive Hands On : HTC One M9

Exclusive Hands On : HTC One M9

HTC’s latest flagship has arrived and it might just live up to expectations. HTC has made a more mature incremental upgrade to an already promising product. The new HTC One M9 highlights everything that was good about the M8 and M7 and fixes what was horribly bad about them.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 21

Big major fixes include a bumped up camera, a 20 MP shooter with a sapphire lens cover. The camera now not only looks good, but also shoots 4k video. However we are majorly missing the OIS found in the Korean rival’s handset.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 20

Last year’s main camera the Ultrapixel snapped, is now the front facing camera, improving low light selfies and it looks really good. The camera adds a lot of details and  pictures are actually very visible in low light. HTC claims that the camera sees more light than the human eye, our tests confirm that.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 27

The M9 is powered by an all new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, a 64 bit SOC, with an Octa core 2.0 GHz CPU and Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM and 32 GB storage makes the memory part complete, but, you do get a 128 GB card support and 115 GB of Google Drive.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 6

The two tone color of the Silver One M9 looks fantastic and will be an instant hit, with anyone who appreciates quality handsets. However the new Samsung Galaxy S6 looks too fancy to ignore. HTC has found inspiration from luxury watches, and the minute  we look at the M9 we see Hublot.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 3

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 2

Everything runs on a highly optimized 2800 mAh battery, bundled with Android Lollipop 5.0.2 out of the box and HTC’s new Sense 7 promises a major improvement in the battery life, and out of experience there is a big difference. The quick charge also improves the charge times and you will be on the go in just a few.

HTC has included a new flurry of covers, none of which come with the device. The new rugged cover will make the device IP 67 and it honestly feels great on the phone and does not add much bulk. The DOT case has been improved quite a lot, adding more functionality. Including Dot-breaker (a cool game) and custom wallpapers that you can sketch, see below.

Here is the New HTC One M9

While the world puts its eyes onto MWC 2015,  HTC has basically stepped on board with an excellent start. HTC has launched and announced a bunch of new products, also showcasing their connected concepts which include Connected Home, Connected Life, Connected Entertainment and Connected Self.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 38

The new HTC One M9 falls right into their connected formula and is not a whole lot different from the HTC One M8; it follows in HTC’s design lineage and adds a whole lot of new elements. HTC claims that the new design is inspired by luxury and mostly luxury watches.

    HTC ONE M9 iGyaan 36

The new HTC One M9 has a newer notched design and a two tone finish, the gold bezels on silver is their hero product and will be available globally, a new graphite and an all gold will be available in select markets. The HTC One M9 still has a IR blaster and the native TV app has been replaced by the Peel remote app. The phone supports TDD and FDD LTE across the globe so is essentially a 4G world phone, and should work worldwide if you buy it unlocked.

Spec wise you don’t see a major bump up either. However a more powerful 64 Bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 runs this handset along with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. It sports a 5-inch screen with a 1920×1080 display. You do get micro-SD support upto 64 GB as well. Optics is where you see a major increase the new 20 MP shooter at the rear along with a 4 ultrapixel front camera make for a fashionable lot. The HTC One M9 also shoots 4k video natively and can parse it onto a class 10 card.

The battery on the inside is a 2840 mAh, bundled with Android 5.0.2 out of the box and the all new HTC Sense 7. HTC is touting excellent battery life on this iteration of the One.

HTC has also improved upon the camera app, allowing for better edits, filters and fun effects on the phone, along with a prismatic mode that indulges a trippy audience.

Along with the HTC One M9, the company also introduced a flurry of cases, including a number of dot view cases. The new design has a transparent back and allows for more customization of what is visible from the dot matrix. You also have a fun game called dot-breaker included as a freebie.

Exclusive Hands On: Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Samsung’s latest flagship and its edgier brother have made it into our hands and that too before the main global launch event.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs S5 Back
Samsung Galaxy S5 and S6 Back

The Samsung Galaxy S6, just like the rumors, holds a new design language. Which unmistakably is inspired and looks almost identical to the Apple iPhone lineage, all glass front and back, infused onto a stainless steel bezel. Samsung may have finally grown up.

    S6 Edge

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is also a step in the right direction, while the device has dual edges the display’s continuity is not broken, as in the case of the Galaxy Note Edge, and the edge is mostly for aesthetic appeal.

Samsung has included quick charging and wireless charging capabilities in the new S6 and the S6 Edge, details of which should be available shortly.

Spec wise Samsung has these bad boys fully loaded up with this years hardware, an all new Exynos Octa Core 2.1 GHz chipset along with 3 GB LPDDR4 RAM, the phone just like iPhone will be available in fixed storage sizes, however starting from 32 GB, a 64 GB variant and a 128 GB all based on UFS 2.0 (Universal Flash Storage). And yes, just like iPhones the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge will not have micro SD expandability.

Connectivity is pretty top notch LTE Cat 6, Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and globally unlocked variants will work on TDD and FDD  LTE bands so networks should not be a problem for Samsung this time around.

    5.1 inch QuadHD Display

The Display is a all new 5.1 inch Super Amoled screen with a QuadHD resolution giving it a total 577 ppi of eye burning sharpness. The Galaxy S6 Edge on the other hand has a much more snappier Exynos Octa Core with 2.5 GHz and a slightly better 2600 mAh battery vs the 2550 mAh on the Galaxy S6 (non-edge.)

The pricing remains a question (which will be answered shortly), however it is rumored that the Galaxy S6 Edge will cost more than the Note Edge did at launch.
