There have been lesser bezels, notches and various solutions to reach to the bezel less future. Many smartphone makers are busy trying to innovate with the trend. Now, Xiaomi also is hopping on the punch hole display bandwagon and may launch a device with the said feature soon, according to patent documents.

The patent filed by Xiaomi is for dual camera in the punch hole display. The patent was filed on January 29, 2019 in the Global Design Database of the WIPO. It stands for World Intellectual Property Office. The patent consists of 24 illustrations of different models. All the designs show what appear to be two cameras in the display. Many other sensors are also placed in the screen like a proximity and light sensor.

Punch hole displays are nothing new in smartphones. First introduced late last year with the Samsung A8s and the Honor View20, the trend seems to quickly catch up. That the price you need to pay for the removal of ports and buttons.

For the price, the phone features a 5.99 inches AMOLED screen with minimal bezels. Meizu Zero has a Snapdragon 845 inside. The RAM size isn’t known but estimates suggest that there may be 8GB of RAM inside the phone. The phone runs on Meizu’s Flyme 7 atop Android Pie. The phone is an interesting proposition but at the price of $1299, which is around Rs. 93,000 in India. The phone seems a little too expensive for the price. The phone seems even more expensive when you consider that it has dated internals and is from a relatively unknown manufacturer.

  • Whatsapp Introduces Biometric Authentication On iPhone

Whatsapp Introduces Biometric Authentication On iPhone

Whatsapp, the world’s most used IM (Instant Messaging) platform has finally brought its FaceID and TouchID authentication to it’s iOS beta users. First spotted by WABetainfo, the new feature has been introduced with the latest 2.19.20.19 update. This update now adds a fingerprint lock, or TouchID, to all its conversations.

    Previous Encryption

The company already introduced end-to-end encryption to all its instances in 2016. With the introduction of this new feature, whatsapp is even more secure, because it eliminates any snooping from your device. Read on to find out how you can avail the latest changes to the widely used social messaging platform.

    How To Enable FaceID/TouchID Authentication?

If you have the iPhone X or above, you can use Face ID to get into the application. And if you have one of the older iPhone versions, don’t worry, because the app will use your TouchID to encrypt your chats. To turn this extra piece of security on, just launch the app, and go to Whatsapp Settings > Account and click on Privacy. You will then need to select your screen lock from your settings menu. One thing to note here is that fact that you can still reply to messages from the locked screen if you’ve allowed access.

Once you’ve configured this, you’ll have to restart your Whatsapp application to get the new authentication feature to work. Whatsapp will then authenticate you in order to use the app. You need not worry if you can’t get in. There’s a failsafe, which allows you to enter the app by just entering your passcode. It’s simple as that.

Google Removes 29 Malicious Photo-Editing Apps From Play Store

Google is on the roll again. This time, it reportedly took down 29 suspicious Google apps from the Play Store. And the surprising thing was the fact that these applications had already been downloaded over millions of times. Read on to find out more.

    What Do These Apps Do?

As reported, several apps which are downloaded from the Play Store tend to display objectionable links and content on their screens. The links and clickable content then redirects the users to ‘scam’ websites, where information is misused. Supposedly, these ‘fake’ apps can access remote ad configuration servers for performing their phishing attacks. Previously, Google banned some Crypto-mining apps from their Play Store, due to policy changes by Google in July 2018. It also banned Chrome crypto-mining apps from the Chrome store. Crypto-jacking was a pretty common activity at that time. Hackers used to take over user’s devices for crypto-mining, even on mobile devices.

A lot of these apps are Beauty camera based apps, which lure users via promises of earning “a lot of money in a short span of time”. Our sources say that a huge percentage of downloads were performed in Asia, particularly India. This clearly indicates the kind of audience such developers are targeting. These apps are tough to remove from the application list because they create failsafes such as creating fake app shortcuts. These apps provide irritating full-screen ads, that are very disturbing and take you to another webpage. Thankfully, Google is trying to get rid of such apps, which seems like a good move.

  • Twitter May Add The Option To Edit Tweets Soon

Twitter May Add The Option To Edit Tweets Soon

Twitter as a medium has been really popular to get updates by the seconds on all whats happening around the world. But the Achilles heel of Twitter has always been not getting an option of editing tweets. There has been a lot of discussion over the topic and Twitter didn’t give a firm reply. Recently, the CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey said on the Joe Rogan Podcast that Twitter is considering adding the functionality of editable tweets.

In his discussion, when asked about the functionality, Rogan said “You could build it as such so maybe we introduce a 5-second to 30-second delay in the sending. And within that window, you can edit. The issue with going longer than that is it takes that real-time nature of the conversational flow out of it.”

Editable Tweets- A Boon or Bane?

The quest for editable tweets is nothing new. Since a long time, some famous people have been asking for the feature. Popular Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee has voiced his opinions many times over the past few years.

The idea of Tweets that are editable for a while seems like a good one for now, if people can see the edit history. This would make the platform more transparent, which its already quite is. The time period that Twitter would decide to let edits happen isn’t known yet.

  • Samsung Galaxy A90 To Have A Pop Up Selfie Camera

Samsung Galaxy A90 To Have A Pop Up Selfie Camera

Smartphone makers have used clever techniques to avoid the controversial notch design in their products. Some companies have used a second display, or have used a punch hole display to house the selfie camera. But the most interesting solution has to be, the use of pop up cameras. first seen in the Vivo NEX and the Oppo Find X. Samsung has so far avoided the notch, did cave to it for its budget Galaxy M series. Looks like Samsung is trying to think of better ways to avoid the notch again with the introduction of a pop up selfie camera. The Smartphone with this feature is called the Galaxy A90

This seems interesting as a big Smartphone maker is interested in this trend. The smartphone is set to launch later this year.

    Pop-Up Selfie Cameras In Smartphones

    Top 10 Features

Pop up selfie cameras are a year old concept at this point. First shown off by Vivo at CES 2018, the first smartphone was the Vivo Apex concept smartphone. The first commercial smartphone to feature a mechanical pop-up selfie camera was the Vivo NEX S. Oppo one-upped Vivo by launching a mechanical slider to hide both the cameras. Not many smartphone makers since have toyed with the idea but many are soon expected to launch smartphones with the feature.

Samsung launching a pop up selfie camera smartphone may be a big deal for the industry. A big smartphone maker jumping into the trend could see more mainstream phones with the feature. And while we don’t have much information about the Galaxy A90 right now, the guys over at TrendingLeaks have made up a concept on how the Galaxy A90 may look like.
