Microsoft is all set to launch a Fortnite special edition version of its Xbox gaming console. Latest leaks by a tipster on Twitter has revealed the images of the limited edition device. The American technology giant seems to be encashing the current Battle Royale mania by teaming up with Epic Games and launching a Fortnite themed Xbox One S.

Apart from key visual changes, the basic design of the Xbox One S Fortnite Edition remains the same as the regular version. Instead of the purple and black colour scheme on the existing variant of the console, the limited edition will be available in a purple and black paint scheme. The images showcase a gradient finish on the console which matches the basic colour scheme of the battle royale game Fortnite. Apart from the console, the controller of the device has also been given a design overhaul. The buttons on the Xbox controller feature purple accents; while the colour corresponding to them has been shifted in the centre. Apart from the aforementioned design changes, the Xbox One S Fortnite Edition looks like the regular variant.

While the pricing and launch date of the gaming console has not been announced yet; it may be launched at Microsoft’s E3 event on June 9 with an expected price tag of EUR 299 (INR 23,200). In the new game mode, players can respawn upon being eliminated until one side wins by completing the objective. The heroes’ mission is to stop Thanos and his army from collecting all infinity stones spread throughout the map. The heroes start the game with a treasure map that has directions to a Mythic Avengers item somewhere in the map. Apart from the mythic items, the rest of the Avengers items can be collected via multiple chests scattered across the terrain.
The enemy team consists of Thanos and his minions, called the Chitauri. The Chitauri invaders start with a laser rifle, a grenade to destroy structures and a jetpack which can propel players into the air for a short amount of time. Once the first Chitauri invader gets his/her hands on an Infinity stone, he/she will be transformed into the purple Titan, Thanos himself. The abilities of Thanos includes a powerful punch attack, a strong laser attack and leaping high into the air and smashing everything when he lands back on the ground. With the acquisition of each infinity stone, Thanos will become more powerful and will gain a multitude of abilities. If Thanos dies in combat, a random Chitauri invader will take his place as the next Thanos. The game ends when Thanos and his army find all the stones to kill the Avengers or if the Avengers and other heroes eliminate Thanos and his army.

First leaked in February 2018, the feature will allow players to revive their fallen teammates using various “reboot vans” spread all over the map. One of the most bothersome things regarding Battle Royale games is getting removed from the match early and watching your teammates play the entire game without you. In fast-paced Battle Royale games, a lot of players are knocked out of the game in the early stages, and most of them end up leaving the match for the sole reason that they can play another game in the time it takes to spectate the previous one. While Apex Legends was the first game to combat this problem with the help of Respawn Beacons, Fortnite is quickly following in the same footsteps of the EA-published game.
