  • Motorola One Power Specifications Revealed By 3C Certification Listing

Motorola One Power Specifications Revealed By 3C Certification Listing

Lenovo-owned Motorola has had an eventful past couple of months. The company recently launched the Moto G6 and G6 Play in India and is scheduled to launch the Moto Z3 Play in Brazil today. One smartphone that has come out of the blue has been the Motorola One Power. Apart from a design different from other Moto devices, the nomenclature is also different. The smartphone has now passed through 3C Certification, giving us a bit more information about the soon to be launched device.

So far, we do not have an extensive list of leaks about this device. Unfortunately, the 3C Certification listing doesn’t tell us a lot either about the smartphone. The listing mentions that the device will carry the model number XT1942-1. Apart from the model number, the listing reveals the supported charging speeds, 5V/3A, 9V/2A and 12V/1.5A. The maximum 18W output is supported, confirming the presence of Qualcomm QuickCharge.

The name of the smartphone suggests that it is an Android One smartphone. Motorola has been known for keeping the software on its smartphones close to stock. The company even launched an Android One version of the Moto X4. Hence, there is a high probability of this being a repackaged Moto X5. Long before the launch of the Moto G6 series, a series of leaks revealed the design of the upcoming Moto X5 with a similar notch. If true, the Motorola One Power could be the first Android One smartphone with a notch.

The leaked images and renders reveal that the Motorola One Power will have a wide notch like the iPhone X. So far, we have seen Android smartphone makers go for a very thin notch, like the OnePlus 6 and Huawei P20 Pro. The recently launched Mi 8 has a wider notch but, that is mainly because it has 3D facial recognition. It is highly unlikely that the Motorola One Power will feature any sort of 3D Face Unlock feature. This notch could just be a design decision more than anything else.

It appears that Motorola will plan a different launch event for the Motorola One Power instead of unveiling with the Z3 Play. More details to follow.

  • Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A To Launch On June 12th

Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A To Launch On June 12th

Xiaomi has built its smartphone brand around affordable devices with great specifications. The company’s sub-brand, Redmi has launched some stellar smartphones in India over the past couple of months. The Redmi Note 4 is still Xiaomi’s most successful smartphone in India. While Redmi prepares to launch a new smartphone in India on June 7th, an event in China on June 12th will unveil the company’s new Redmi 6 series of smartphones.

An official poster released by Xiaomi on its Weibo page reveals that a June 12th launch event is scheduled. The poster has a large ‘6’ in the background hinting at the launch of the Redmi 6 series of smartphones. The Redmi 6 will be accompanied by the Redmi 6A and possibly, the Redmi 6 Plus/Pro. Specifications of the Redmi 6 and 6A were recently leaked on TENNA.

The Redmi 6 appeared in live images sporting a rather peculiar design. The leaked images reveal that the Redmi 6 will have a notch very similar to the Huawei P20 Pro. This design differs from the Mi 8, which is expected to have a bigger notch, similar to the iPhone X. One thing that sticks out like a sore thumb in the images is the white colour of the bezels. Not many people would be pleased with this colour combination. A white coloured notch also means that users don’t have an option to hide it via software.

    Redmi 6

According to the listing on TENNA, the notched smartphone will bear the model numbers 1805D1SC, M1805D1SE, and M1805D1ST. Different model numbers represent the different variants the smartphone will launch in since rarely a smartphone launches in only one variant. The device will have a 5.84 inch display with a 2280 x 1080 px resolution which translates into a 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone, which could be named the Redmi 6, is expected to run on a 2GHz octa-core CPU that could either by a Snapdragon 625 or a Snapdragon 660.

The specifications of the Redmi 6A were leaked via TENNA recently as well. According to the listing, there are three model numbers of the Redmi 6A, the M1804C3CT and the M1804C3DT/M1804C3DC. The only difference being that the M1804C3CT has a single 8MP camera, while the M1804C3DT/M1804C3DC have dual cameras, possibly a 12MP+8MP setup.

The rest of the specifications are identical for all the model numbers. The Xiaomi Redmi 6A will have a 5.45 inch display with a 1440 x 720 px resolution.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A will likely run on the Snapdragon 625 chipset with 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM. The storage variants could be 16GB/32GB/64GB with an option to expand the storage via a microSD card. The fingerprint sensor, as visible in the images, will be placed on the back of the device in a central position.

To the front of the smartphone will be a 5MP camera. The back of the device will either house an 8MP sensor or a combination of a 12MP and 8MP sensors. The type of sensors that will be used is not clear as of now. Powering the Xiaomi Redmi 6A will be a 3000 mAh battery which will charge via a micro USB port (this is an educated guess considering we haven’t moved on to USB C ports on budget devices yet). Out of the box, it will run Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.5 on top. This means the smartphone is likely to come with gesture support as well.

The Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A might be China-exclusive as the company only recently launched the Redmi 5 in India. With a lot of budget Xiaomi smartphones in India, it will be interesting to see if the company finally launches a Mi flagship device in India. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is priced competitively in China and should the company launch it at a similar price in India, the Mi 8 could give the OnePlus 6 a run for its money.

  • Xiaomi Mi A2 Running On Snapdragon 660 To Launch In India Soon

Xiaomi Mi A2 Running On Snapdragon 660 To Launch In India Soon

Xiaomi has launched a few interesting smartphones in 2018 so far. The Redmi Note 5 Pro continues to be one of the most sought-after budget devices in India as the Redmi Note 5 has also found its audience. On June 7th, the company will launch another Redmi smartphone in India, a week after unveiling the flagship device, Mi 8 in China. One smartphone that everyone is looking forward to, is the Xiaomi Mi A2, the successor to the very popular Mi A1. After months of speculations, it appears that the Mi A2 does exist and should launch in India soon.

    Xiaomi Mi A1

A new report claims to have “confirmation from an inside source regarding the existence of the Xiaomi Mi A2.” The report claims that the Mi A2 will be a rebranded Mi 6X which launched in April in China. The Mi A2 will first launch in Taiwan along with the Mi 8 and then make its way to the Indian market. This means that Xiaomi might be planning to stick to the September timeframe since the Mi A1 was also launched in the month of September in 2017.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 was also just a rebranded Mi 5X so, this information is not surprising. This information does solidify the argument that the Mi A1 will see a successor in India. With the Mi A1 being so popular, a follow-up was anticipated but, nothing can be said for sure. The Xiaomi Mi 6X has impressive specifications and should be a worthy successor to the Mi A1, provided it has better camera performance.

    Mi 6X

The Xiaomi Mi 6X has a 5.99 inch IPS LCD display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. This is the same display found on the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India and the size of the bezels is also identical.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi 6X runs on the Snapdragon 660 chipset, coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage which won’t be expandable. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back of the smartphone which has been the case with almost every Xiaomi smartphone.

Powering the smartphone 3010 mAh battery. Interestingly, the smartphone supports QuickCharge 3.0 which means it also has a USB type C port, something that a lot of Xiaomi fans wanted on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Out of the box, the Mi 6X will run on Android 8 Oreo with MIUI 9.5 on top.

Out of the two cameras on the back, the main sensor is a 20MP Sony IMX486 with an f/1.75 aperture and 2-micron pixel size. The secondary sensor is 12MP Sony IMX486 telephoto lens with an f/1.75 aperture and 1.25-micron pixel size. The AI is used to identify over 206 scenes in the camera app which includes food mode, text, greenery, sky, beach, snow, cats, dogs and many more. Once a scene is detected, the camera automatically tweaks its settings for, in theory, a better image. On the front of the Mi 6X is a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with soft light LED flash.

As we said before, the Mi 6Xor the Xiaomi Mi A2 appears to be a worthy successor to the Mi A1. Whether these specifications will translate into real-world performance is yet to be seen.

  • Apple iPhone SE 2 Screen Protector Reveals A Smaller iPhone X Like Notch

Apple iPhone SE 2 Screen Protector Reveals A Smaller iPhone X Like Notch

The existence of an iPhone SE successor has been under scrutiny over the past few months. Up until a day ago, it was anticipated that the iPhone SE 2 will launch bef0re WWDC 2018. However, that seems highly unlikely as the conference is just 4 days away. That uncertainty has not stopped people from posting sketchy images of screen protectors claiming it to be iPhone SE 2’s.

A new image of two screen protectors has surfaced online which claims to reveal the design of the iPhone SE 2. The image has the iPhone SE 2 screen protector next to an iPhone X’s screen protector. The notch on the iPhone SE 2 is smaller than the iPhone X’s but, it is certainly prominent. What this means for Face ID is a different case altogether.

    [amazon_link asins=’B072LPF91D’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’igyaan-21′ marketplace=’IN’ link_id=’06b1326d-6582-11e8-a420-27f34afb2d6b’]

If Apple could make a smaller notch for iPhone without compromising on the technology it houses, it would have. The fact that the iPhone SE 2 could have a smaller notch means that Apple is doing that to maintain a design uniformity more than anything else. It will be interesting to see if Apple incorporates Face ID in a smaller notch.

A report by Bloomberg claims that the WWDC 2018 will only focus on Apple’s software advancements. Unlike last year, there will be no announcements pertaining to the company’s Mac lineup. Apple is working on refreshes to the MacBook Pro and 12-inch MacBook with new Intel chipsets and is planning a new low-cost laptop to succeed MacBook Air. However, these won’t be ready until later this year. Even the iPad Pro with Face ID will launch later in the year and won’t be announced at WWDC.

Whatever the design of the iPhone SE 2 will be, we won’t know for sure until its official launch. The iPhone SE 2 could launch later in the year with along with the new iPad Pro and MacBooks. Stay tuned for all the coverage of the World Wide Developer’s Conference that commences on June 4th.

  • Motorola One Power Leaked In Live Images

Motorola One Power Leaked In Live Images

A couple of days ago, we came across a render of an upcoming Moto device, the Motorola One Power. The smartphone is touted to be Motorola’s entry into the world of notched smartphones. According to the render, the Motorola One Power will have an iPhone X-style wide notch. A new live image has now appeared online which could be the final design of the Motorola One Power. The image is in line with the previously leaked render.

According to the leaked image, the Motorola One Power will have a wide iPhone X style notch.

The reason the iPhone X was not slated too much for its notch was that Apple managed to get rid of the chin. Android OEMs have embraced the notch but, not found a way to get rid of the chin. The Motorola One Power is no different here. The chin on the Motorola One Power is very prominent and sort of resembles the Pixel 2 XL albeit, a missing speaker.

Must Read: Apple iPhone SE 2 Won’t Launch At WWDC 2018

As many would have guessed it by now, the name of the smartphone suggests that it’ll be an Android One device. The Motorola One Power could be the first Android One smartphone with a notch. This should not be an issue in terms of app compatibility since Google has provided support for the notch in the developer’s preview of Android P.

There is also a high probability of this being a repackaged Moto X5. Long before the launch of the Moto G6 series, a series of leaks revealed the design of the upcoming Moto X5 with a similar notch. There is a possibility that Motorola will rebrand the Moto X5 as the Motorola One Power to market it as an Android One smartphone.

It is possible the Motorola One Power will be unveiled after the Moto Z3 Play will launch in early-June. We will keep you updated with all there is to know about the new Motorola smartphone.

  • Lenovo Z5 Renders Reveal A Bottom-Placed Front Camera And A Tiny Chin

Lenovo Z5 Renders Reveal A Bottom-Placed Front Camera And A Tiny Chin

Up until now, Lenovo’s VP has been our sole source of information about the Lenovo Z5. Chang Cheng has been actively posting bits and pieces of the Z5 that have so far impressed everyone. The launch of the smartphone is set for June 5th and we still don’t have any concrete leaks of the device. This is very unusual for a modern-day smartphone and proves that Lenovo is doing everything it can to keep the Z5 a secret. However, we do have a couple of press renders of the Lenovo Z5 giving us a clearer look at the soon to be launched flagship smartphone.

Must Read: Xiaomi Mi 8 Officially Launched With 3D Face Unlock

The renders posted on Weibo are in line with the teasers posted by Chang Cheng. The Lenovo Z5 will have a nearly bezel-less design with a tiny chin. Ever since the first teaser was released, there were speculations about the placement of the front-facing camera. Many believed that Lenovo would use a pop-up camera like the Vivo APEX, or some other unique implementation. This render appears to quash those claims as the camera is placed on the chin of the Z5.

This implementation is very similar to Xiaomi’s Mi MIX lineup. The Mi MIX devices have thin uniform bezels on three sides while all the sensors and the camera are placed on the slightly thicker chin. The Lenovo Z5’s chin is definitely thinner than any of the Mi MIX smartphones, hence, the company claims a whopping 95% screen-to-body ratio. It also appears that all the necessary sensors will be placed on the chin itself.

The earpiece is nowhere to be seen in the renders. This could mean that Lenovo has taken another hint from Xiaomi and gone the Mi MIX route for the earpiece. The renders again show that the Lenovo Z5 will have a stunning design albeit, an awkwardly placed front-camera. Whether this is the final design of the smartphone is yet to be seen. We expect more leaks and renders to surface online as we move closer to the launch event.

  • Apple iPhone SE 2 Won’t Launch At WWDC 2018

Apple iPhone SE 2 Won’t Launch At WWDC 2018

Apple will hold its annual developer’s conference in early-June in San Jose, California. The World Wide Developer’s Conference has historically revolved around Apple’s multiple operating systems rather than hardware. However, Apple has managed to unveil a few hardware products at these conferences. The iPhone SE 2 was long rumoured to launch before WWDC 2018 or at least, at WWDC. That, however, seems highly unlikely.

    [amazon_link asins=’B072LPF91D’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’igyaan-21′ marketplace=’IN’ link_id=’1d5a625b-6558-11e8-82fb-75ec7e1fabab’]

A new report by Bloomberg claims that the WWDC 2018 will only focus on Apple’s software advancements.

The Apple iPhone SE 2 too, won’t be on Apple’s agenda for WWDC 2018. The successor to the highly popular iPhone SE has been anticipated for a long time. The leaks and renders of the smartphone have been polarising to the say the least but, there has at least been chatter about its existence. It seems unlikely that Apple will launch 4 iPhones at its September event. Which means that if not WWDC, the iPhone SE 2’s launch could be further pushed to March 2019.

The iPhone SE was launched in March 2016. The iPhone SE 2 has been rumoured to launch in May but, that ship has sailed with the passing of the month. While an upgraded iPhone SE 2 would be beneficial for a lot of users, whether Apple wants to put time and money into a non-flagship iPhone is a different question. Question marks regarding the design of the iPhone SE 2 have only increased with time. With some leaks suggesting a radical new design and others claiming that it won’t look too different from the iPhone SE.

Whatever the design of the iPhone SE 2 will be, we won’t know for sure until its official launch. Stay tuned for all the coverage of the World Wide Developer’s Conference that commences on June 4th.

  • Apple iPhone In 2019 To Feature Triple Camera Setup With 3D Sensors

Apple iPhone In 2019 To Feature Triple Camera Setup With 3D Sensors

Back in early-April, there was a report about Apple incorporating a triple-camera setup on the 2019 iPhone. It appears that it wasn’t a one-off prediction as a result of boredom and this might actually happen. A new report claims that Apple will indeed use a third lens on the back of the iPhone but, for enhancing AR experience.

    [amazon_link asins=’B072LPF91D’ template=’ProductAd’ store=’igyaan-21′ marketplace=’IN’ link_id=’c5e0c3e8-63f1-11e8-8cb9-6d4304f75268′]

The report falls in line with the April report by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News mentioning longer focal length, but says that the third lens would also be used to provide enhanced AR capabilities. Last year, Bloomberg reported that Apple would use a 3D sensor in at least one of the 2019 iPhones to provide more accurate 3D modelling with the rear cameras.

This, if true, would be an interesting take on a triple-camera setup. The report from last month essentially said that Apple would imitate the Huawei P20 Pro which hasn’t been Apple’s forte. The company has stuck to its guns and let other companies experiment with technology and only implement something new if the company feels it can perfect it. The iPhone X is a great example, wherein Apple introduced a nearly bezel-less design long after other brands had already done it. However, the iPhone X has been appreciated for its design, especially with the company eliminating the chin completely, something no other OEM has been able to do.

In 2013, Apple launched the iPhone 5s with Touch ID. Here again, the company was late to the fingerprint sensor party but, Touch ID, even on the iPhone 5s, was much more advanced than its competition. With Apple investing heavily in AR, it seems plausible that the company would want to take it to the next level with its flagship iPhone next year. However, whether the company will take this new route or just stick to software implementation for the time being is yet to be seen.

It’s May 2018 right now and certainly feels too early to predict what Apple will do in 2019. The 2018 iPhone lineup looks promising and we will see many more leaked about it once the WWDC 2018 concludes in early-June.

  • Xiaomi Redmi 6A Specifications Leaked On TENNA

Xiaomi Redmi 6A Specifications Leaked On TENNA

Xiaomi will launch the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and the Mi band 3 on May 31st, celebrating its eight-year anniversary. While the Mi 8 has become one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2018, the company has not lost sight on its budget smartphones. The company became famous in the first place for launching quality budget smartphones. A new budget device from the company that appears to be in the pipeline is the Xiaomi Redmi 6A.

The specifications of the Redmi 6A were leaked via TENNA which means it is on its final stages and should be launched soon.

The Redmi 6A could launch sometime in June, a few days after the company launches the Mi 8. Whether it’ll make its way to the Indian shores is yet to be seen.

  • Motorola One Power With iPhone X Like Notch Leaked

Motorola One Power With iPhone X Like Notch Leaked

The notch seems to be everywhere in all kinds of shape these days. The Essential Ph-1 cyborg eye-looking notch to the wide iPhone X notch, the smartphone industry has definitely embraced this trend. Lenovo-owned Motorola appears to be the latest smartphone maker to jump on the bandwagon with a completely new series of smartphones. A new leaked image reveals the design of the Motorola One Power which sports an iPhone X-like notch on the display.

The image leaked by Android Headlines shows the front and back of the device. It is fair to say that the design is nothing new and we have already seen a number of Android devices adopt the vertical placement of the dual-camera setup, similar to the iPhone X. The fingerprint sensor appears to be housed inside the “Moto” logo.

The front of the smartphone is where the headline-grabbing feature lies. The device will have a wide notch (wider than the likes of OnePlus 6, Honor 10) which looks very similar to the iPhone X. Whether a wide notch means there will be a Face ID-like security system is anybody’s guess as of now. The chin, unlike the iPhone X, is very prominent and houses the “Motorola” branding. The company has brought back its classic branding with its 2018 lineup of smartphones.

There is possibility that Motorola will rebrand the Moto X5 as the Motorola One Power to market it as an Android One smartphone.

The report does not mention any details about the alleged specifications of the device. Neither does it mention any details about the launch event. It is possible the Motorola One Power will be unveiled after the Moto Z3 Play will launch in early-June. We will keep you updated with all there is to know about the new Motorola smartphone.

  • Xiaomi Mi 8 SE To Launch Along With Mi 8 On May 31st

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE To Launch Along With Mi 8 On May 31st

Xiaomi has completed 8 years and the company will commemorate the milestone at its May 31st event. Succeeding the Mi 6 won’t be Mi 7 but it will indeed be the Xiaomi Mi 8. Rumours and multiple leaks suggest that the Mi 8 will be the first Android smartphone to incorporate iPhone X’s Face ID-like 3D facial recognition system. However, the Mi 8 might not be the only smartphone Xiaomi launches on May 31st as a new leak has revealed the existence of the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE.

The resemblance of Mi 8 SE’s nomenclature with the iPhone SE is uncanny. Xiaomi is known for taking “inspiration” from Apple in the past. Shades of iOS are visible in MIUI as well and Apple’s design has been a source of inspiration of Xiaomi as well. Even the Mi 8 is expected to have a notch design very similar to the iPhone X.

The Mi 8 SE has been spotted on Xiaomi’s online mall (Mi Mall) along with the Mi 8. Rumours of the Mi 8 SE aren’t new and what ‘SE’ stands for is still a mystery. Considering the theme of the launch event, it might as well be the Mi 8 Special Edition (SE) which could be a limited edition device with Gold accents and a ceramic back. The Mi 8 is expected to have a glass back and feature wireless charging as well. However, it is also entirely possible that the Mi 8 SE will be like the iPhone SE and sport a smaller display while maintaining the other key design elements.

    Mi 8

It will also be interesting to see if the Mi 8 SE will sport a notch and have the same 3D facial recognition system as the Mi 8. Other rumours have suggested that the Mi 8 will have an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Mi 8 SE might get rid of the notch and Face ID and instead feature an in-display fingerprint sensor which would sort of justify the ‘SE’ tag as well. All the speculations are short-lived as the event is just a couple of days away. Stay tuned for all the updates about the Xiaomi May 31st launch event.

  • Xiaomi Mi Band 3 Price Leaked Ahead Of Its May 31st Launch

Xiaomi Mi Band 3 Price Leaked Ahead Of Its May 31st Launch

However, the Mi Band 3 is also a very important for the company as Xiaomi prides itself on being more than just a smartphone brand.

The Mi Band 3 could also get rid of the physical button and introduce gestures for navigation. Apart from that, the Mi Band 3 is expected to be IP67 rated for water and dust resistance and also have support for Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC.

Lei Jun also said Xiaomi has been testing the Band 3 for two-three months, and found it to be far better than the company’s previous two Mi Bands. The May 31st event will see Xiaomi launch a plethora of products. The Mi Band 3 will have a hard time gaining everyone’s attention as the Mi 8 is expected to be the headline-grabber.

  • Google Pixel 3 Notch Revealed In Leaked Image Of A Screen Protector

Google Pixel 3 Notch Revealed In Leaked Image Of A Screen Protector

Google launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in October 2017. The Pixel 2 XL was the modern-looking sibling of the two while the smaller Pixel 2 retained a 16:9 aspect ratio. With the Pixel 3 lineup, there have been rumours that Google will embrace the notch. These rumours gained weightage recently when Google introduced support for notch with Android P developer’s preview. According to a leaked image of the Pixel 3 XL screen protector, Google is indeed planning to go the notch route.

A sketchy-looking leaked image of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL screen protectors has surfaced online. The image reveals that both the smartphones will have front-facing stereo speakers, something we saw on the Pixel 2 devices as well. However, the more interesting bit is that the Pixel 3 XL will sport a notch similar to the OnePlus 6 and Huawei P20 Pro.

The chin appears to be prominent as well which might not go down well with consumers. The iPhone X showed us that having a notch means you can reduce the size of the the other three bezels considerably. Having a notch and a chin aesthetically as well, does not look that great. However, at least the chin will solve a purpose here as it will house a speaker. Google Pixel 2 lineup had great sounding speakers and we expect Google to build up on that.

The Pixel 3 will also get an upgrade to an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone won’t sport a notch but, it will have a relatively thick forehead which will house a front-facing speaker. The chin appears to be of the same size as the Pixel 3 XL. Apart from the size, the main differences between the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be in the display type and battery size.

The Google Pixel 2 lineup, despite their great camera performance, was marred by a plethora of hardware issues. With the Pixel 3 lineup, Google would want to rectify that and launch two impressive flagship smartphones.

  • Apple Might Introduce New NFC Features For iOS 12 At WWDC 2018

Apple Might Introduce New NFC Features For iOS 12 At WWDC 2018

The buzz around the 2018 iPhone lineup has not even reached its peak yet and we have already numerous leaks about it. However, before Apple hosts one of the biggest launch events of the year, it will play host to one of the biggest developer’s conferences in June. The World Wide Developer’s Conference will commence on June 4th and many software-based announcements are expected. We will learn more about iOS 12 as well and it appears that the new iOS version will have more NFC functionalities than before.

A new report claims that Apple will introduce interesting features pertaining to NFC functionalities with iOS 12. Apple first introduced NFC in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus back in 2014. So far, NFC has mainly been used for Apple Pay which is not available in India right now. With iOS 12, however, there will be a lot more, that an iPhone user will be able to do with NFC.

The report by The Information claims that:

The change to the near-field communication, or NFC, chip, which is expected to be announced next month, could pave the way for people to use iPhones for other security-sensitive interactions, from paying transit fares and opening car doors to verifying their identity in other ways.

With new functionalities, iPhone users will be able to unlock NFC-enabled doors and even use it to transmit data to transit systems, personal authentication devices and more. How much of it will be usable in a country like India is yet to be seen.

Apple employees are already using their iPhones to unlock doors at Apple Park, likely via custom badge readers detailed in Federal Communications Commission filings last year.

Apple has iterated that iOS 12 will concentrate more on performance aspect than UI. This means that visually, iOS 12 might not look a lot different from iOS 11 but, there will be performance enhancements which iPhone users will be able to notice once they upgrade to the latest version of iOS. Apple was scrutinised recently for slowing down iPhones without making it clear to iPhone users as to why the company was doing so. With iOS 11.3, users can choose whether to let the battery degrade with time or prolong battery life by capping the CPU power.

With iOS 12, there will be more changes in the back-end processes and less visual changes. Users with older iPhones would definitely appreciate that if it means that their iPhones will be smoother than before. It is rumoured that the iPhone 5s will also receive an update to iOS 12 which means an iPhone launched in 2013 will run on the latest version of iOS. More details to follow when WWDC 2018 kicks off on June 4th.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 To Launch In An 8GB RAM/512GB Storage Variant

Every year, Samsung launches three flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ were launched in February, just before MWC 2018 kicked off. The next flagship device will be the Samsung Galaxy Note9, which is expected to launch in late-August, similar to the Galaxy Note8. A new leak suggests that Samsung will finally break its 6GB RAM barrier and launch an 8GB RAM variant of the upcoming flagship device.

A tweet by Ice Universe, a prominent Samsung leaker suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Note9 will launch in an 8GB RAM/512GB storage variant. The leaker did not reveal any other variants of the smartphone and also suggested that only if you’re lucky, you’ll see the 8GB RAM model. This means that this variant could either be a limited edition or launch in select countries. We are still a few months away from its official launch so, there are chances that we will get more clarity about the device in the coming months.

A recent report claimed that it had acquired the unofficially accurate specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note9. It would have a 6.3 inch Super AMOLED display with 2960 x 1440 px resolution.

Under the hood, the smartphone will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset for the US and South Korea markets. For the rest of the markets, the smartphone will run on the Exynos 9810 chipset which is a Samsung SoC. The respective chipset will be coupled with 6GB of RAM along with either 64GB/128GB/256GB storage which will be expandable via microSD card.

Powering the smartphone will be a 3300 mAh battery with QuickCharge 4.0 support. Out of the box, the device will run Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung’s Experience 9.0 on top.

The Galaxy Note8 was the first Samsung smartphone to be sport a dual-camera setup. This time around as well, the Galaxy Note9 will have a 12MP wide-angle camera along with a 12MP telephoto lens which will record 4K videos at 60fps. The Galaxy Note9 will also record 720P videos at 960 fps, just like the Galaxy S9 devices.
